Nice place to relax and explore the nature in the City. Take the Bus 601, 602 or 603 from the Main Station Bonn and get off at "Am Botanische Garten". The entrance is free in the week.

Very extensive collection of species in the large glass houses. Each section is another surprise, ranging from humid tropical to dry desert cactus collections. The eautiful garden layout includes several ponds and bridges, sections with large trees give a nice shade during warm days while still giving a great view on the historical palace-like central building.

Stunning green oasis in the middle of bustling city! One of the most beautiful botanical gardens! I do love botanical gardens and this one in Bonn is one of the best ones I have visited! The beauty starts with an entrance where the pond is located displaying stunningly colorful water lilies and the backside of the mineralogy museum (it was under scaffolding during our visit). In front of the glasshouse entrance many Australian and African trees are situated sitting in large pots, some I have never seen before like Banksia serrata. Several greenhouses with different flora are to be visited (rainforest, monsoon, desert house and many others) but one of them is an absolut hidden gem - The victoria glasshouse hiding the giant water lily unfolding its mighty leaves around the pond. It is almost unbelievable to see such a huge plant. Here you can also see Amorphophallus titanum - the plant that smells like rotting corpses when blooming. Right behind the glasshouses the carnivorous garden can be found - another impressive element of the gardens not to be missed. The reason why I loved it so much was how the plants were displayed - in large concrete pots combined with heather plants, rocks and wood - it looked like a miniature garden, very picturesque. The outside part of the gardens were very well maintained and it was possible to walk not only on the main paths, but in between flower beds as well. Fountains and lakes were great additions to already perfect gardens and it was beautiful to see animals such as birds and ducks enjoying the gardens as well. I also appreciated the samples of cones and seeds that were attached to trees, so visitors could have an idea of what they look like from up close. The entrance fee was 3 euro however we didn’t pay anything even though we visited on Sunday, when, based on the website, you have to pay to get in. Tea house located on the west part of the garden seems like a lovely place to chill in the afternoon, unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit. Apparently great guided tours are available, unfortunately only in German language. Located in walkable distance from the train station and city center. 3 major highlight for me: Seeing the gigantic Victoria water lilies in the glasshouse Admiring the amazing Australian plant called Banksia serrata Seeing the carnivorous gardens in concrete pots Visited in July 2022.

This is a beautifully maintained garden that is free, and takes maybe about 30-60 minutes to walk through. But it’s worth staying longer if you can, particularly if you are looking to relax and take a breather. There is a very wide variety of plants from around the world, so take your time to check them out. The more you look, the more you see!

Genialer Botanischer Garten!

A wonderful well maintained botanical garden and a good escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. When you get there in spring or early summer you will find many plants in full bloom You can stroll through the park with many different trees and visit the hot house and spot the occasional leguana hanging around. On some occasions a park ranger may even present a snake to you.

It's a nice place to hangout. They recently made the entry free for all so take advantage of it. It's honestly so peaceful and relaxing to go there. There are enough benches everywhere to sit and just chill out.

Beautiful garden with a huge variety of flowers, for a nice and relaxing walk under the sun. By walking you can find birds, ducks, frogs and other animals in their habitat. Make sure to go around the little "lake" and over the bridge, were the ducks swim under you. As of August '21 no Corona restrictions were present.

Beautiful botanical garden with a wide variety of plant species. Intriguing plants from around the world including but not limited to African, American and even Australian continents are displayed. This garden preserves some rare species as well. Excellent experience!

Easy walk on a beautiful garden. In September, lots of blooms that still remind me of Spring. Bring the right type of mask and your covid proof of vaccination-test or recovery to be in enclosed areas. Great for strollers and wheelchairs. Find the ponds and admire the waterlily-islands.

This botanical garden has a wide range of plants and trees. The location is easily accessible from Bonn Central station via bus. It's a relaxing place to hang out and sit on one of the many benches placed within the garden. All plants are labeled so you can easily identify every plant.

Great place to visit for people of all ages. Small, but beautiful Botanical Garden, especially during spring and summer. Personally I have been there multiple times and brought there all my friends. There is a nice cafe and toilets on the territory. It is quite close to the main train station and has good bus connections right next to Botanical Garden.

Bonn's sightseeing tour must go through its Botanical Gardens. It is located in the city center. This "green oasis" is also part of the university structure. To enter, you do not have to pay an entrance fee. If you want to attend a lunchtime tour with a lecture lasting 2 hours, you have to buy a ticket at 2 euros. Here on a relatively small area are situated unique plant species such as the amber tree, a variety of wild plants, and some beautiful flowers.

One of the most beautiful and extensive botanical gardens I've been too. Truly a must visit if plants are of interest to you. From the large garden that are beautifully scaped with intertwining pathways, to the hidden gems that are the large glasshouses filled with tropical flowers and the amazing giant lilly's. Loves the little pathway through the north american Sequoia's, really felt like strolling through one of the USA's national parks. Also while in the gardens you have a great view of the Poppelsdorfer Schloss

  • 5/5 Mai Minh P. 9 months ago on Google
Surprising pretty even if we didn’t get to see the biggest flower blooming. We missed the flower but still very much enjoyed the glass house. Seems small but well organized and pretty!

  • 5/5 Nikolaj P. 9 months ago on Google
This is an INCREDIBLE botanical garden. First of all I have to say that the garden is free of charge to all visitors! It offers an astonishing pallette of different trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers which are all labelled and can be inspected up close since walking on the grass is allowed. Aside from the plethora of plants outside, there are also several greenhouses with different zones like sub-tropical, tropical and arid. There is even an extra little part with different types of carnivorous plants. Beside the main botanical garden there is also a small separate garden wherein plants which are used by humans are grown. There are different citrus and nut trees, berries, fruits and other edibles as well as different grain types and other interesting plants. Whether you are an avid plant lover, botanist or someone who likes to spend time among many different plants then make sure to have a visit to the botanical garden, you won't regret it.

Bonn botanical garden is located right behind Poppelsdorf Castle, one of the two castles in Bonn. The other castle is Bonn University's main building in which students study humanities. As most botanical gardens I visited this one also covers most continents and climate zones. The palm house is spectacular with it different climate zones. One even has a constant misty room in which it slightly drizzles water from the ceiling to keep the humidity way up. One highlight is definitely the titan arum which only blossoms every couple years and smell really bad but is beautiful to look at! What’s really awesome is that there is no cover or fee to enter the garden. If you feel like getting out of the city go grab some food at the tibetan food truck next door, enjoy your food in the stunning and quiet garden and take a stroll through the garden afterwards. The highlight, though, was when a gardener approached us with a bucket of freshly picked huge bananas from their very own banana trees. They were delicious—nothing like what you but in a super market!

My family and I were strolling in this nice botanical garden. When we visited, the outdoor area was a bit dry, as in not as lush as I expected it would be.
