One of the best places in the region for authentic south Indian style dishes. The people who own the place are extremely polite and accommodating. For groups, it is recommended to reserve a table in advance. Food does take a bit of time, but that is just cuz they make it to order. Wide variety too. Too bad they had to stop serving kothu parotta, which was their best dish by far.

Review is based on just the dosas we ordered. We have not tried other dishes yet. However, it's so rare to find good south Indian food, specially dosa, it will be probably the dish for which we will return for and that deserves 5 stars! First of all it is a family run business which combines kiosk and a restaurant. However, don't be misled the restaurant section is well managed. Dosa were well made and came with two chutneys and sambhar. All of these were really well done. The red chutney had a good spice level to keep it interesting for ppl who can take some heat though not over the top either.If you run out of any chutney or sambhar they are happy to provide a refill!! We also ordered Tea and mango lassi which were both also well made. The prices are very reasonable and there was a good mix of people in there. Staff was very kind and helpful.

Really great food and small family own authentic restaurant. Owners are really very humble and very nice person. Very nice and authentic indian food. Masala Dosa is a must try ….. Will definitely visit next time when we come to Köln.. Unfortunately very busy in eating so only one pic 😜

If you want authentic south Indian food, this is the place. We ordered dosas and medu vada among others and they were absolutely delicious. The butter milk is a must try. Waiting times are quite long but worth the wait. Will definitely visit again and again.

We went there for the dosa and were not disappointed, absolutely tasty and fresh. If that wasn't enough service is immaculate. The hostess was very sweet and made sure we had enough of the sides. We didn't wait very long for the food. Definitely coming back again!

Most authentic South Indian Restaurant in entire Cologne. Absolutely recommended to anyone who likes to experience the true indian cuisine. Though one has to accept that this place is within a kiosk, lacking some flair. I didn't care and I'd recommend you do the same.

Ordered the Utthapam and it's one of the best Southern Indian dishes I've had in a long, long time. The sambar was extremely well balanced in terms of composition, spices and flavor and the textures of the Utthapam itself were immensely diverse. The taste was just sublime and all the ingredients seemed to be very well measured and extremely fresh. The sauces were pretty authentic and delicious as well.

A very good place to enjoy South Indian delicacies like dose/dose, idli, vade, Biryani etc including North Indian food like paneer masala, veg korma and so on, and they do serve non-vegetarian food. All the food items seems very fresh and made with care, you can literally taste it in the dishes. Although the food takes a bit of time to come to your table it is totally worth the wait. In case of drinks, they have a kiosk so you get all types of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The family running the restaurant are extremely friendly and seem to genuinely care about the feedback. Rest assured, will be going back again soon to try more.

Update: they offed veg thali on saturdays and as of 2 weeks ago, non veg thali on sundays. Tried the non veg thali and the food was really delicious and in generous quantity. From the outside, it looks like a kiosk but this place is definitely worth a visit. The food is really delicious. Generous portions for affordable prices. Everybody there was very friendly and helpful. The interior may not be over the top but the food is just great. Definitely go with an empty stomach. We had the dosa and the chennai chef chicken curry. Both very delicious.

Authentic Indian restaurant with real classy dosa and chutneys, service was a beauty amazing hospitality, also cards are accepted. I had travelled from duesseldorf to just try this and it worth every efforts spent.

Best south indian food in cologne. We ate a egg dosa and one chennai chef chicken with parotta. it was lovely. The couple running the restaurant is also very kind. However only waiting time for food can be improved. In case when you are not in hurry.. it is worth the waiting.

I had idly , Plain dosa and Buttermilk . After having idly I felt like I am eating idly at my home . Dosa: take a look at the picture .Dosa is super crispy . Buttermilk is good . Definitely will try something new in my next visit.People are good.

I have been here a few days before. This place has food from the south of India and I have to admit it, these cuisines can be called the authentic south taste which I haven't found in any other Indian restaurants nearby. Moreover, the food tastes amazing and is savory for your buds.

Recently visited Chennai Chef which is this cozy place, not so fancy from the outside but has a pleasant environment inside. We ordered medhu vada,2 veg thalis, 1 egg dosa, 1 Mysore masala dosa, and filter coffees, sweet Pongal. The food was prepared to perfection, and the flavors were spot-on. The dose was big and tasty, coconut chutney was fresh. The veg thali reminded me of home, it was authentic South Indian food. Thali had vada, parotta, and many curry and dry dishes with dessert. The host was really sweet and accommodating, she even offered extra sweet pongal as we loved it. I also loved that we could request extra chutneys. The overall experience was delightful, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a taste of South India.
