It’s a good place to spend a couple of hours at. In my experience is not a crowded place. I went there with the Düsseldorf tourist city ticket (which is 10€ for 24h) and didn’t have to pay for anything in the entrance. I loved that there’s so many species of animals.

We weren't expecting this to be this big, really worth the money. Took us almost 2h to visit it all without reading all the info all the way. A lot of species of animals, fish, insects and so on to see. Worth a family visit 100%. Also ticket for adult is 9€ which I find very cheap for what you get to see! Top

I love it here <3 Great mix between museum and aquarium! Awesome place for everyone big or small ^^ Personnel was very nice and answered questions and overall great to talk to! Easy to reach by subway and car. You can easily spend three hours there!! They have lockers and are barrier free! The space itself is on 2 floors but the have lifts and wheelchair lifts so you can reach every area.

(Translated by Google) You should definitely plan in addition to the zoo visit. Snakes, piranhas, crocodiles, spiders, frogs, ants ... everything can be admired and admired. As already stated in another review, the silk spiders live free. No glass in front of it, nothing. That's really impressive! Kein Glas davor, nichts. Das ist richtig beeindruckend!

I went here before Covid and it was gross: dirty tanks everywhere, etc. But now, they've remodeled and it's super fun. Brightly lit with fun exhibits. Just be prepared this is a small and very eclectic collection. They have alligators, (small) sharks, prairie dogs, turtles, bugs, lots of amphibians, and a section on nautical history. Oh yeah, and a collection of rare rocks and geodes at the entrance. For the price (around 9 euro), it's a fun 2 hours. Nice playground and park there too(those are free admittance).

What a wonderful day in the Aquazoo. One of the best places to visit and learn about the combination of the zoo, aquarium and natural history. The design is quite interesting and pleasant to see. They put all of the important information on the front of the exhibitions. For children and students who are interested in the beauty of nature should visit this museum.

This place is amazing and has mostly anything you can think of sea-life. Very educational one of my favourite aquariums. This place has insects, marine animals, some turtles, some birds and even preserved animals/ incests. It’s in German though. This place is humongous! I love it!

This Aquazoo is very nice, but it is not that big, but for its size it has quite a lot to visit. The entrance was also cheap: €10 for adults and €5.50 for students. The parking has to be paid, but we were "lucky" that the device was defective and we didn't have to pay. A flaw that this Aquazoo had is that not all workers at the ticket office are nice to visitors from other countries.

Never experienced such crowds in a zoo! Luckily, we had bought the ticket online and didn't have to queue outside to enter. All text was in German except for the names of the animals. Nonetheless, it was amazing seeing the different lives and environments under water.

This place is amazing!!! I found myself saying 'wow' so much! The natural history story of the evolution of life on Earth is so well told through all the different displays, taking you from the primordial soup through corals and jellyfish to mammals. You feel like you're walking through history. The different exhibits are so interesting and beautiful. Others have commented on the lack of English signage, but this is a German museum! The English audio guide is really well done and informative, and well worth the €3. I can't recommend this place enough. Loved it!

It is a very nice museum but a bit small and all the information is in German so it's a bit harder to enjoy and learn for expats. We went with a 7 year old and a 12 year old but all the interactive exhibits are for very young kids, so my kids got bored rather early than expected.

We came here on a rainy cold day and it was the best choice that could be. Aquarium + museum which offers a lot of information throughout history. So many beautiful creatures that would leave you in awe! Love it here! There are many parking space in front of the museum and a small kiosk outside which offers food (sausage, currywurst, French fries, etc) and drinks.

(Translated by Google) Unique to watch the piranyas feeding. Seeing the different insects up close gives you goose bumps. It is beautiful and lovely to walk through the butterfly hall. The butterflies already sit on the head or hand, then you could see them very closely. The beehive is also wonderful, everything is well worth seeing (Original) Einzigartig die Piranjasfütterung zu beobachten.

(Translated by Google) We visited this zoo well before the coronavirus crisis and really spent a few wonderful hours there. In my opinion, the well-designed division of the basins and the arrangement of the themed areas should be emphasized. Normally there are probably enough parking spaces, but unfortunately we were apparently on site on a day when half of North Rhine-Westphalia thought to drive here. So it turned out that we spent a good hour and a half in the queue. Fortunately, the people on the Rhine and Ruhr are very happy to contact so that there were nice and funny conversations while waiting.

It's a decent sized aquarium and zoo, not very big. You can spend about 3 hours and see everything. Lot of species that I haven't seen in sealife were found here. Kids will love it. There is a direct underground to zoo. Best part is, with Dusseldorf card it's free entry.

Great place for families and kids of all ages. There is something for everyone. I visited with my granddaughter a few years ago and we both loved it. She was very engaged with all the zoo had to offer. It was a great day. As soon as we got outside it began to snow. What a perfect ending for the day.

Been there a couple of times, as good for a day out when the weather is wet and cold. Still not impressed that none of the information boards includes English translation. As far as I remember, you can rent an English audio, which isn’t very ideal when you’re with kids.

Much bigger than we expected! Well worth a visit. If you don't speak German, pick up an English leaflet at the info desk on the way in and buy the audio guide for €3 (plus you have to leave ID as a deposit). The audio guide gives you some key info and details on some of the creatures. There are lockers for €1 returnable coin, toilets by the entrance but no cafe. With the audio tour we were there over 3 hours (2 adults).

It was a nice day trip to break up time at the airport. The only issue was it was so crowded that myself or little kids couldn't get a chance to see anything and we got pushed around. It should be time slotted to to avoid this issue. Also online booking helped get you in faster.

(Translated by Google) The last time I was in the Aquazoo was in 2012, before the renovation / renovation. I was really positively surprised by the museum, the way it was presented and the size of the exhibits. A modern museum, which is very interesting and communicates knowledge through a successful combination of living animals, excavation pieces, prepared exhibits and the use of media. My daughter (8) would have liked to have stayed there much longer. Regarding the children, there is also a kind of rally for the kids, for 2 different age categories. Well done, but the fact that there is only one free brochure as the "prize" for the kids at the end is a little bit too little. A little cuddly toy or something like that would really please the children and certainly motivate them even more. Concerning. Corona / Covid19 it should also be said that the museum behaves like other public institutions, distance, face mask, disinfection, etc. But: It was way way too full, especially in the first quarter of the museum! The people stand close together in front of the aquariums, distance was out of the question. I don't have a solution in store, maybe staggered admission would be good so that not too many people come to the museum at once, that would straighten out the visitors, but certainly leads to a significantly longer waiting time at peak times. All in all, however, a recommendable museum that we will certainly not have visited for the last time.

(Translated by Google) The animals are really great! It is also positive that there are many benches. The architecture is negative. It is built in such a way that there are many levels and only stairs and no roller levels for the strollers. There are always mini-elevators per level and wheelchair users, for example, get a key for them. But it is too LITTLE! At the weekend I saw that many parents always have to drag their strollers up the stairs and there were up to 20 families with small children ... that is not possible!

Our group got there at 5h30pm (30 minutes before closing time) due to the train breaking down. There was this really nice man who introduced us to the most important things and even prolonged the closing of certain sections just for us! It was short but a wonderful experience. The creatures were beautiful, it would've been nice if we had more time.

The museum it's self is great, plan about 4 hours inside, recommend for kids and adults, totally fun. Family ticket online costs 20 euros and from the museum costs 18 euros, I don't knew why, should be the other way around. Locker rooms are not available cause of Corona, which is also no sense you have to make your tour carrying your jackets and bags. No space for a snack/ coffee break, which was exhausting for kids. Perhaps you need to go outside and then re-enter, but the circulation won't help you.

It's an amazing place with lots to enjoy and learn. Children love it and they have plenty to experience there. It's a pity that it's 💯% in German. Next to the Neanderthal Museum it's the most important an educational exhibition in the city. Therefore it should be at least a bilingual description provided.

An excellent aquatic zoo and aquarium. Plenty of animals and nice scientific explanations. It's a pity that they're only in German, it would have been nice to have a translation of main descriptions in English. Put still a great place to do science!

Excellent place if you have never been to huge aquariums. Many types of fishes, coral, spiders, ants, beetles etc., can be seen in the mueseum. Good learning for kids. Take your own water bottle or food for kids, they dont have a restaurant. Currently mask is mandatory to be worn inside mueseum.

Small compared to any tier 1 city Aquariums. Can get boring and monotonous. Don’t fly 800 miles to visit this place. But okay, if you’ve never seen a fish before. :p but a very good add-on to this is the Japanese gardens which is right adjacent. There is also a cafe there which serves Pommes and ice creams which makes this also a nice half-day out.

To visit Aquazoo is a great experience for child from 2 to 100 years old. Well organized and with great specimens to see at their (simulated) natural environment. Staff is very helpful. They were in my "must visit" places in my three last visits to Düsseldorf. Recommended.

Great place to go with children. Very educational, especially if you understand some German. Nice exposition with a number of real gems. Tip: the ticket price is very affordable, but Dusseldorf tourist card gets you a free-of-charge entrance.

A very cool aquarium to visit! It is well maintained and clean. Usually the place is crowded during holidays so one can opt for online tickets. You can avail a student discount on your ticket from the cash counter. It is definitely worth visiting with your kids. It will take around 2-3 hours to completely see this aquarium so plan accordingly.

Surprisingly more fun than expected, with the Düsseldorf tourisme card you get free access ('23), so we dropped by. It's still worth paying it it wasn't free with this card. Depending on what you like you can spend about 2 hours here with ease.

Went there during the night of museums, the line was extremely long and we waited about an hour. However the museum itself was pretty cool, I loved to see the fish and learn about different sea animals. Not so sure about the penguins whether they have the most exciting life. They also had a backstage tour which was really informative.

  • 5/5 Dr Ali H. 11 months ago on Google
A fantastic biology class for kids. Recommend it to all that have kids (one visit isn’t enough) and school tours. Skeletons were very interesting. Could be great to put an actual photo of each animal next to their respective skeleton. The restaurant next to museum was full and not giving anything except drinks! Really needs a cafe with some simple food items. The Aquazoo is in the center of a beautiful garden and great to walk around and perhaps picnic. A bicycle rental or cart rental station can be a nice addition to this garden complex. Suggestions to the museum: -Needs more English information next to the stations. -Having a science communicator going around and engaging with visitors Perhaps in an animal suit even. -Didn’t see a replica or a shell of Penguin egg. Can be nice to put the replicas or shells of the animals somewhere for kids to see the shape, color, size -Perhaps a book section can be nice. Also putting a book related to each station next to it for kids to check. Even a section for book sale. -Stones section Wasn’t that busy. Needs a science communicator to walk around and interact with visitors. Perhaps a stone replica for kids to touch, a smelly stone… can attract more attention.

Recommended - 5/5 What a wonderful collection of aquatic animals and other creatures. I have been to many zoos before but this was definitely worth the visit and money. We went here primarily because of the kids but we as parents also enjoyed the place , specially the penguins 🐧 Audio guide is available and helpful if needed Toilets are on the left side of the ticket desk The staff is kind, friendly and helpful Got a soft toy for our daughter at the end. Medium size penguin soft toy - 12 Euros She absolutely loves it 😍 Must do in Dusseldorf!

We went with the family during Easter and it was an enjoyable morning. However, it is more of a museum than a zoo. There are very explanatory exhibitions on evolutionary biology that are suitable for more grown up kids, but the fish tanks are relatively small and not super wonderful. Besides, everything is in German making it not very friendly for foreign visitors. Still a very nice plate to have in Düsseldorf and worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Jan-Wouter A. 11 months ago on Google
Great little aquarium, terrarium, reptile zoo. Certainly worthy of a visit with excellent parking (paid) right out front. Expect to spend about an hour here and if visiting on a weekday plan to come around lunch to dodge the majority of school trips attending.

  • 4/5 Col P. 8 months ago on Google
A great place to visit, was in the holidays and weather was poor so a lot of people had same idea, too many within the museum so couldn’t really enjoy the aquarium sections, any other time though I expect would have been much more enjoyable, need translation tech or a translator if don’t speak German as no foreign signage on exhibits other than Deutsch

  • 4/5 Marciano de B. 8 months ago on Google
Expected only aqua animals hence the name, except there were also quite some other animals (Insects, lizards and such) available, also some history of sea travel and information about the ocean (and the future of the ocean) Only addition would be more english texts for tourist. Besides that an experience I would definitly recommend

Its a fun museum. You can rent a headset if you can't read german. You will walk through it in like 1.5 hour. We went on a saterday with our dusseldorf card, for free. I recommend coming at openingshour because it will get busy.

Visited on a rainy Sunday. Maybe that's the reason it was so full. The ticket line was very long. However, there is a great option for buying a ticket online. More a place for families and children, a lot to discover and learn.

OK. Not like an American Aquarium. No dolphins. No killer Whales. No Shows exploiting the Marine life. Its more a small tank experience. It was great. No English subtitles on Marine Life Description.

  • 4/5 Bartosz “Void loop” M. 7 months ago on Google
Interesting place. It allows you to take a look at a small piece of the fascinating and vast world hidden under the surface of the water. There are penguins. There's also a croc. You can see the whole thing at a slow pace in an hour, so I recommend thinking about it when buying a parking ticket. You don't actually need to print a ticket bought online (despite instructions on how to print it on it).
