Not a very large but logistically well-thought-out Zoo. The paths are very comfortable and nice, and the places with animals are well-kept and designed so that they can be viewed from different angles, while leaving them a lot of freedom. The zoo does not have a huge number of species, but the most "popular" ones will be found here. Free parking nearby, inside you can eat some typical fast food and ice cream. Tickets purchased online do not need to be printed. The price, however, is a bit high for what the place offers. Overall, I recommend a visit.

A very nice zoo - we just bought season tickets (includes 1 adult and up to 6 children per card). Because the zoo is a bit "hilly" it is not the best for older people that have problems walking. There are several playground inside where the little ones can take a break. The restaurant in the middle of the zoo is okish (a lot of fast food and a bit on the expensive side). Only downside according to our little one: no giraffes! 😉

It's such a beautiful zoo for such a small town as Wuppertal! The animals are in very nice habitats and seem to be well taken care of. All the facilities are so nice! I recommend for a nice walk with family and kids.

Nice and green city zoo. They have a nice collection of animals with some really nice species (like African Elephant, Tarkin and Snow leopard). The exhibits are nice but a little bit on the small side. It's also notable that some parts of the zoo are old. We where visiting on a public holiday, but even though it was busy it didn't feel crowded.

Loved this zoo. It’s huge. One has to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes and clothes. There are some slides and playing areas as well for kids to play while you rest or eat something. Also, you can plan to ride in suspension rail the day you plan on going to zoo.

Wonderful zoo! Very hilly so it's a great workout just walking around. Well organized very nice.

We bought combined tickets with schwebebahn trip, I recommend it, as the price is definitely better. The zoo is very clean and animals look like they really care about them. It’s recommended even for smaller children as they can provide special carriers on wheels for them. Also, you can find a nice place to grab some food and another one to have a break a to have a drink and to relax.

I usually don't post negative things but I think the zoo needs more cleaning. Water looks disgusting in some places. And please have bilingual explanations, not everyone speaks german

The Zoo in Wuppertal is a great spot for a weekend family trip. It has been renovated over the past years and the whole area is very well taken care of. It’s a hilly zoo with slopes, just have that in mind when bringing the stroller. Parking can be tricky during rush hours since the Zoo is in a residential neighborhood. There is a special parking spot about 200m below the main entrance. They currently have elephant calfs which are very cute!

the queue to enter was at least 100 metres long at 1300 / 1pm in the afternoon on a Sunday, and no social distancing, so we didn't bother going in even though we drove 1 hour to go to this zoo. not worth bothering to do stuff like this at busy times on weekends in Germany until they get rid of 2G checks next month that wastes so much time.

The zoo is really nice. The animals are obviously doing well and the enclosures are in most cases spacious and species-appropriate. There are a couple of nice playgrounds for children. However, it is important to know that the zoo is located on a slope and that it goes steadily up and downhill. There are plenty of places to take a break. You won't find any tables for a small picnic. The only real point of criticism is the parking lot situation. Because it is catastrophic. The parking lot at the zoo is much too small and the parking spaces are so narrow that many stand over the markings and thus vehicles get lost parking spaces. Finding a parking space in the many one-way streets around the zoo becomes an adventure.

In this zoo we can find a variety of wild animals, the places where they are well conditioned, in optimum places of their habitat. The zoo has several seasons and presentations of the same animals at different times of the day. It has bathrooms, access to wheelchair cars etc, also has food stalls, photo rooms and a large store to buy your souvenirs. As a recommendation, wear comfortable clothes according to the weather, water, something to eat and the best way to see these beautiful animals!

This is a great zoo. It is quiet large and I like how they really work with heights throughout the whole zoo. There are also a lot of different kind of animals. The size of the zoo and the animal species makes it possible to have fun for hours! What I like most about the zoo is the nature that it has got to offer. It looks amazing! Also quiet nice is that you can park for free in the neighborhood. What I did not like is that some animals do have small habitats. However there are some animals that have a lot of space, such as the lions, and I think every animal deserves that,

Fantastic day out with family! Kids had so much fun looking at different animals and reading about them. Information boards included English language which was a big plus for us! The zoo has a few small climbing playgrounds around the place and another massive one. For me the leopards looked quite unhappy/unwell. Zoo is full of sloped hills, so was kind of tough pulling/pushing a wagon up and down. Free car park next to the stadium but can be tricky to find a free spot; (again it’s a steep hill from parking to zoo entrance). Tickets were €18.50/adult and €1.70/kid. Definitely visiting again soon.

It's a good place to spend your weekend. Childern aged 6 to 14 pays only 1,70€ as entery Tickets. The zoo is a bit mountainous, which means uphill and downhill, so be ready to have some exercise.

Great place to take the family and the zoo is well maintained. Plenty of play areas for the kiddies too.

Awesome zoo. Very green and lots to see. You could easily spend the day there.

  • 4/5 Frank T. 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful Zoo, in a perfect setting. Lot's of uphill walking. The only reason for 4 stars is over half the animals were not out and about. No tigers, lions, or any big cats . I would go back again.

Great place to spend time with family, and the Zoo is very well maintained.

Beautiful city zoo, with some interesting species. It's beautifully located on the hills, which makes it not ideal for a stroller with two kids in there. We were able to park the car for free in a street quite close to the zoo (like 400 meters from the entrance).

Loved it. The penguins being fed was the highlight of the trip. Sadly they didn't have any giraffes or rhinos but still a great zoo nonetheless.

Wonderful day at the zoo. Weather was so so. But great if you wanna avoid crowds. Online ticket reservations / purchases are required

Really nice green area, almost feels like a forest. Most of the animals were kept inside today. I hope it is a temporary situation about re-opening and we can see all the animals next time. Areas of some animals are quire small (e.g. some leopards, lemurs or polar bears etc). We hope they can make a better arrangement for all of them..

Very beautiful zoo with so much nature around it and in it. Most of the animals have got very nice big areas to live. Amazing experience on a Sunday, even food is delicious inside. We saw many kids enjoying with their siblings and parents!

This zoo is definitely one of the best we have seen in Germany until now. It's big, clean and houses several animals and birds. There are several small and one big playground for kids and plenty of kiosks and clean toilets spread out at regular intervals. The guided markings are accurate. The restaurant is a bit pricy but one can only blame the inflation for it. We totally recommend it for anyone visiting or living in the Ruhr area.

If you want to be surprised by the lack of animals, then this is the place to go! Elephants were great and so were some of the other animals. Playgrounds in the zoo were great for the kids. Too bad so many cages and fields were empty dus to some changes in the zoo.

Aquarium is still closed or under maintainence, waited so long to get a glance of lion and tiger, but unfortunately couldn't see them, but the place is beautifully designed for animals. Loved watching Sea lions and penguins

  • 1/5 Nour H. 1 year ago on Google
Don't waste your money. Animals are not exist. Waters are not clean so you cannot see Amphibians clearly. They put penguins in wet weather because the AC leaks water on them not ice. You cannot see the loin because of long grass. We didn't see any zookeeper. We didn't see tigers. Lions or bears. Even the small creatures because they have only one of every kind instead of many. What the point of keeping animals in gages in visit time? You need to work on this ruined zoo. We felt boring after the first hour. In the app there is no map for the direction. And in the map inside there is no sign where are you right now.

A wonderful zoo, very good conditions are created for the animals so that they feel as comfortable as possible.

  • 4/5 Calypso H. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice but we were surprised that cars and even tracks were all around the zoo during all the day. We are used to let the children walk around in a zoo without worrying about cars. In this zoo, this is not possible.

All inside animal spaces closed due to Corona, and many animal outside missing. High hill. Very nice nature. Good parking possibilities. Need to bye daily tickets online before.

  • 5/5 Davide N. 5 years ago on Google
Really great zoo with a very nice exhibition and many a place to visit. Most of the animals seem to have enough space to roam in and everything seems really clean an well handled. The price is more than fair, seen the dimension of the place. Our visit lasted about 7 hours so I'd recommend going there in the morning.

A nice zoo with a variety of animals living in large habitats. The zoo is hilly so we were tired a little bit. You will get to see elephants, penquins, Gorrila, lion, tiger and more. Under water view of the penquins habitat is really good. There are kids park too. The ticket rates are a little bit high but entry is free with Ruhr top card.

Had an Amazing Day At The Zoo. It Is Fairly Big And a Wide Selection Of Animals. The Sad Thing Is That I Feel The Animals Do Not Have Enough Room For Their Enclosure. The Other Downfall And It Is a Very Big Downfall Is That It Is Very Steep. It Is Hard For Families With Pushchairs & Wheelchair Users To Walk Up Hill.

Amazing place to spend time with kids. Very green with a lot of animals living in condition close to their natural habitat.

Come here for the lions! Quite pleasing to see them in a specially dedicated LARGE enclosure as opposed to the usual. All in all it's an interesting zoo to visit, well worth traveling 100+ km for. Lots of cute animals. Monkeys are spectacular. Family friendly and accessible. Also: far cheaper than most other zoos in Europe. €14 is the cost of a standard [adult] entry ticket. €12,50 for students.
