Exciting, impressive - on the day of the open monument there are insights into crafts that have become rare. A small excerpt is shown of how much love and work is necessary to preserve the cathedral!

The Dombauhütte is a direct descendant of a medieval hut, which was erected by the first Cologne master builder Gerhard in 1248. The craftsmen working on the Dombau - mainly stonemasons, but also carpenters and blacksmiths - obviously worked in their own premises, which were located in the immediate vicinity of the construction site. The hut also enjoyed a great heyday with the beginning of work on the further construction of the cathedral in 1842. The number of artisans working on the cathedral increased from time to time to 550. Although the completion in 1880 did not mean the end of the Cologne Dombauhütte, the number of employees was reduced.

An incredibly beautiful and very impressive building. It is the landmark par excellence. This landmark obviously needs maintenance and care, lots of it. In this place you will find specialists who can do this very well. Hard work in the service of the community. Thank you.

If you're lucky you can get like an army style performance/entertainment. If not- you can still enjoy street entertainment.

What these stonemasons do is simply magnificent. Traditional crafts, art and imagination come together here. Many hard-working, skilled hands have been taking care of our cathedral for centuries, the most beautiful, important and mysterious cathedral there is.

We visited the cathedral building hut today as part of the open memorial. Really impressive. The staff are also very friendly. Now I can imagine why it takes so long to build a church.

As a sikh I encounter and experience many horrible and nasty events. 11 December 2015 I was in the cathedral with my school for a trip, a priest came up to me and rudely commanded for me to take my turban off,I replied to him that it's my religion and I have to be wearing my turban at all times however the priest started to push and punch me on the arm to force me to remove my religious headwear. I simply told him I will leave and speak to the authorities to sort something out as he was telling me to take my religious headwear off. I left the cathedral and the class from my school followed me out and appollagised to me for the experience. As a religious priest should he not understand that other faiths wear headwear. Be careful if you wait a turban or rastacap as they would force you to remove it.

(Translated by Google) The, after the cardinal, probably the most important institution at the cathedral. Here the cathedral is preserved. Without the Dombauhütte he would probably gradually, like any other building, expire. And that would be a pity about the unique building.
