What a lovely central area. The markets and the food stalls were great. We had a meal outdoors and later on cake and coffee at another cafe. Found a brilliant jazz club on the square where we had a brilliant evening. Got a late bite at one of the stalls in the early hours of the morning which was huge and delicious so was shared by all. All places were great. The architecture is amazing the whole place is very pleasing. The climb up the narrow steps in the clock tower was hard work but the view at the top was stunning. As it was Easter not everything was open but there was still plenty to see and do. Would love to visit again in the summer.

A beautiful and historic square, one of the best I have been to Europe. It is also one of the largest. Especially cool during the Christmas period when there is a market and a large Christmas tree. Has its fair share of people who have had too much drink, homeless people, etc…as in all cities in Europe, but it is a must see if you are visiting Krakow.

Proper old, medieval feeling market Square. Spectacular at night. We just missed the Christmas markets but I bet they're a sight to see. Plenty of good food and drink on offer, and below the ground there is an interesting museum.

I could go on all day about the architecture of the square and surrounding buildings, the basilica, the market with all the amber store, the bars, cafés and shops. This is an amazing place to visit and is so steeped in history. I love visiting Krakow and hope to return soon.

Krakow is like the jewel in the crown of Poland. One of Europe's best kept secrets. Blown away by the history, architecture, food and amazing people, many of whom speak English.

Architecture is beautiful and renaissance in design. The markets are lovely with lots of gift options and bustling hub with restaurants and places to have a relaxing drink or more lively options around the area. Check out St. Mary's which is 800 years old and go up the old tower. The church itself inside is breathtaking.

A huge lively square lined with restaurants and historic buildings. There is a large renaissance Cloth Hall in the middle of the square, a huge and impressive St. Mary's basilica church, a clocktower, and an underground museum. Most places within the square are pricey by Krakow standards hence most restaurants and bars or pubs are frequented almost exclusively by tourists

The main market square in Cracow is the biggest market square in medieval Europe. I always get lost when I’m visiting Cracow and when travelling from railway station to the castle but it’s just me. This market is huge, you’ll get to know how big it is during Christmas and Easter holidays when this place is covered with a lot little spots selling food, beverages and different crafted stuff. When it comes to eating go a few metres from the market and you’ll find better food and not that rude waiters.

We were here during Christmas and there was a big market on the main N Square. The square by it self is very beautiful and with that market even better. There are a lot of tasty local food and drinks which will make the atmosphere better. Unfortunately it is overpriced. Definitely worth to visit at least once. Thank you🤩

Lovely old town of Krakow, the biggest in Europe as well. Definitely worth visiting if you are going to Poland and Krakow. The old church there rings the bells every hour, make sure you listen out for the trumpet player who plays after and see if you can spot them! The cloth hall shops are in the heart of the square as well and a must to visit. Plenty of eating places all around also and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place to wander around! It's character changes from daytime to the nighttime👌 The lighting on buildings makes it amazing to see. Then to people watch😀👍 Also, the horse and carriages ferrying people on tours, they look well impressive😀 Listen out for the trumpet playing from the tower! Amazing if you can spot then as well👍🤣

You will obviously be visiting the plaza on a trip to Krakow. Beautiful and spacious with a large bazaar, public toilets and lots of restaurants with outdoor seatings. We chose this place which had good pizza menu freshly made. It was an excellent pizza. The dessert was great the kids loved it. The plaza is surrounded by historical buildings and cathedrals which makes it picturesque. You can if your feeling adventurous hire a horse and cart ride.

This is a great souvenir place in old town Kraków. They sell many interesting things and the popular Polish Pottery. This is not my first time there and I really enjoy each time I visit, especially since there’s so many beautiful things to see around it.

Beautiful Square. I loved everything about it: from the "Cathedral" to the small church nearby. It gets very cozy and Christmas-like during the winter. It's safe, not very crowded, and easy to explore. You can't go to Poland and not visit Krakow!

This is one of the best market squares you would have ever visited the evening ambiance is still better. The dining places are overfilled however most of them (at least what we tried) are not good for vegetarian. You can negotiate we’ll the horse carriage ride.

A beautiful building , a row of arches run right down each side. There are lots of neat little shops that run all the way down the building. Selling a wide range of holiday gifts, toys, glassware, t shirts, knitwear, and lots of other good items. It stands in the centre of market Square. Which is a fabulous sq of buildings with shops, bars, hotels, restaurants and the Bell tower and ClockTower. We stayed 4 nights and found the restaurants selling fantastic food and drinks at a great price. Also there's an underground museum that is fantastic and well worth a visit.

Nice old town square, I only had a bit too much of initiative-inspired younglings chasing me around asking for donations. It kinda cripples the mood, sorry. Too many, some even twice... Otherwise it was great.. if you can get 5 minutes alone time to take a look around...

Rynek Gtówny in Poland is an absolute delight! Visiting this enchanting square was like stepping back in time to a place where history and modernity seamlessly blend together. My trip to Poland would not have been complete without exploring this vibrant and lively marketplace. The architectural beauty surrounding Rynek Gtówny left me in awe. The stunning facades of colorful buildings that encircle the square are a sight to behold. It felt like being in a fairytale town, and I couldn't stop taking pictures of every angle. The atmosphere at Rynek Gtówny is captivating and inviting. Strolling through the square, I was greeted by the warm smiles of locals, adding to the genuine charm of the place. The numerous cafes and restaurants lining the square offer a wide range of culinary delights, and I indulged in some traditional Polish dishes that were simply mouthwatering. The central focal point of Rynek Gtowny is its awe-inspiring centerpiece, which is rich in history and culture. I couldn't help but be drawn to the impressive fountain that adds a touch of grandeur to the surroundings. This place was bustling with life, with artists showcasing their talents and musicians filling the air with melodies. Rynek Gtówny truly comes alive during market days when vendors set up their stalls, offering an array of local products, handmade crafts, and souvenirs. I enjoyed bargaining with friendly traders and picking up unique gifts to take back home. Accessibility is excellent, and it was easy to navigate around the square. The friendly locals were always willing to provide directions and helpful tips for exploring the area. Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking a magical experience, Rynek Gtowny is a must-visit destination in Poland. I am grateful to have experienced the charm and character of this remarkable place, and I cannot wait to return one day. I highly recommend visiting Rynek Gtowny and immersing yourself in the captivating beauty of Poland's historical treasure. A truly memorable and unforgettable experience awaits you here.

Great square in the center of old Town Krakow. I don't need to say much and there's not much I can add other than it's fantastic BUT do watch out for solicitors for the strip clubs and such. They are designed to defraud Americans and other tourists - I only know because my guide warned us (not because I partook and was thusly scammed!) Great walkability to/from the square. Great nightlife. Definitely a great city to visit if you can.

This place has not changed. My husband visited it 15 years ago and even these we found the pigeons and horses there. We enjoyed a lot, just to observe the architecture, walk down the market and fun with the fed and flying pigeons and decorated horses. Really relaxing and enjoyable town time. Could you spot the clown's face on the top of one building? My little 2yearold son told us about it and we were trying to focus more on the other faces. Have your own fun there and enjoy yourself in you way :);)

What an amazing and fascinating place! The massive central square in krakow was like taking a step back in time to the 1300s. We’re only here for a few days so could only come once or twice, but the stories and architecture are truly amazing. Anyone who loves history should come here - and not just for WW2 either. A thousand years of historical events, Poland is much more than a WW2 landmark

In every part of the city, charm abounds. Each shop boasts tasteful decorations, not lavish, but stylish. The locals are not excessively outgoing, yet they exude warmth. The market area caters predominantly to tourists, featuring prices to match, but remains within a reasonable range. The main plaza is simply stunning.

Clean streets. The locals obviously take pride in their city (England take note). Maybe we'll revisit in the day to see it's full glory, or maybe not we are hung over 😏 We had fun city bopping :)

One of the largest old town squares in the Europe, it is the principal urban space located at the center of Krakow. St Mary’s Basillica, the cloth hall and the town hall tower are the prominent places to visit in Rynek Glowny. The square is filled with beautiful cafes, restaurants and dessert parlours which attracts the tourists throughout the day. And like any other old town square in Europe, the area is expensive than other areas of the city. Must visit place in Krakow.

Visit amazing Krakow. The Rynek is not merely a historical relic; it pulsates with contemporary life. Street performers, artists, and musicians contribute to the square’s dynamic ambiance. The energy of the place, coupled with the backdrop of historical architecture, creates an enchanting experience for locals and tourists alike.

The best square of Poland in my opinion. As a music lover, especially acoustic ones, I sit until midnight on the road and listened a young blond long hair guy with a ponytail playing in a guitar, his name was Tale. Also during the day another on playing some Latino vibes with the houses around. (photos: Jun 21, 2017)

Probably the most beautiful old town in Poland. Many old apartments and monuments. Possible to get inside Wawel Castle, the former residence of polish kings. Also I recommend to visit old churches and cathedras. There is also a dragon's den and statue of the symbol of Cracow, a dragon. Variety of restaurants also with polish traditional food. Very clean place. Must see place in Poland 👍

Nowadays, it’s also a grey place to meet Ukrainians and see how much Polish people support us I simply love it there and I’m sure that with time it will not loose it’s charm

If you come in the morning (before 9 a.m.) you'll enjoy the beauty of this place. Big square surrounded by amazing historical buildings. During the day it's filled with crowds, as other well known places, but that's expected.

Great place to visit during the day and night. Good for young and old. Much to do and much to see, love it. We also enjoyed different cuisines at the restaurant.

Beautiful classical town square. The churches here are amazingly gorgeous. Great restaurants and bars and plenty of stores to shop at. Also, a beautiful greebelt surrounds the square. One of the highlights of Krakow.

It's a tourist attraction and one of the biggest old town squares in Europe. The view was amazing and full of history. This place will tell you how this town became the most important trade route in Europe. Don't miss the trumpet player every hour from the watch tower.

It’s probably the best part of this old town , incredibly beautiful. Breathtaking each time I see it . There’s so much to do and to see . You can find almost anything nearby . The only un pleasing part would be the smell from the horses in the main square but it’s still a very pretty place . If you are a tourist you’ll definitely feel like home since there’s a lot of international people around .

Beautiful and quite animated place- the hearth of Cracow. Restaurants all around. From here in 5 minutes you are in any of the places interesting for tourist in the old town. Beautiful night, enjoy full by day.

Great looking central area. It looks beautiful throughout the day, and under lights too. There are many things to see nearby, and a lot of good restaurants too. The place is always pretty busy. There's also a small shopping street which has a very nice collection of amber jewelry and some souvenirs. If possible try and visit this place once in sunlight and once later in the night.

A beautiful square in the old town. The old market has been taken over by tourist shops. On the upper level is the museum of Krakow. Across the square is St Mary's Basilica with the twin towers. On the hour every hour a trumpeter plays at one of the upper windows.

Beautiful square with wonderful architecture and ambiance. I just wanted to warn everyone of a new SCAM during the day. If you go during the day, you might be approached by a teenager (like 14-16 years old) holding a rough looking plastic folder who will start a conversation asking “do you speak English or Polish?”. If you make eye contact, stop or answer, they will ask you personal questions pretending to be friendly and interested and then pull out a plastic collection box they were hiding behind the plastic folder and tell you that they are collecting money for the soldiers in Ukraine. Then they will tell you a list of tragedies happening in Ukraine and say that they are collecting donations of 65 zloty or more! It was my last day in Krakow and I said I would give them 10 zloty I had leftover and he insisted that they had a cash point and PayPal. I kindly said that I would only give him 10zl that I had in my wallet. In the same day, three different kids approached me with the same question “do you speak English or Polish?” ALL holding a plastic folder in front of the collection box. I believe this is a scam because: 1) they were all hiding the collection box, 2) they were all using a folder to hide it, 3) they all ask you the same question. DO NOT give these kids your money, if you want to support Ukrainians, donate to the volunteers wearing a Ukraine flag in the square in the evenings or go to one of the many refugee-owned/managed restaurants and stores in the city (or donate online to a charity that you know). Pro tip: if you see these kids following this MO, simply say that you donated the night before. If you see police nearby after, please let them know where the scammer is so they can investigate. I would have reported this when it happened but I didn’t realise it was a scam after being targeted for the second time. Don’t let these people get away with exploiting the Ukrainian war!

Beautiful square, love the hourly trumpet memoria from this spectacular church. Lots of booths setup on the weekend. Horse drawn carriage rides are available from nearby. Really something to see at night!

Kraków’s Central Square is the nerve centre of the city’s medieval Old Town and measuring 40,000 square metres it ranks as one of the largest medieval squares in Europe. It is surrounded by elegant townhouses, all with their own unique names, histories and curiosities.

Enjoyed the plaza. Good food at all the restaurants and being central to walk to everything made it even better. My hotel was right on the plaza and was able to see everything going on. From the dragon parade to Corpus Christi mass that to place

It is a lovely open space that is relaxing. The Cloth Hall and Cathedral are the centrepieces of the square. However, it is the hustle and bustle of the people that brings it to life.

Beautiful square in Krakow, it is ginormous and very well kept. There is a very big market and you can find anything in it, from food to clothes

Beautiful main market square in the middle of Kraków. It’s spacious so it never feels too packed. The market was nice to walk through but didn’t sell much other than touristy trinkets and souvenirs

  • 5/5 Joanne B. 6 months ago on Google
Krakow, wow what a beautiful city. Must see: Be Happy Museum, Pizzatopia, Mr Pancake, Mama Mia, Salt Mines, Auschwitz, Wodka Bar, and much, much more. The horse and carriage is a lovely experience but isn't cheap. It was £74 for 20/30 mins for the whole carriage.

Beautiful scenery, clean, great food, good amenities all in the same space wonderful viewing platform. We had a brilliant day, fun and laughter as wasn't bogged down with queues had a small wheelchair and a 90 year old lady with me who had the best afternoon pushing her chair around the market taking everything in her stride, it's a wonderful place to visit and we'll worth the visit.

Beautiful place with a feel of old town. You can see horses, kids playing with pigeons and a local market for shopping. And if you are lucky you can even see street shows going on at around evening time. Overall a good place to visit at the heart of krakow.

Beautiful party of the world. The old town really does take your breath away. Yes, it's tourist central but they doesn't take away from the photogenic nature of the square.

Fascinating architecture and an amazing church. The inside is the most ornate I have seen. The altar is nothing short of spectacular. You need to check entry times as this is an active church.

Beautiful place and Christmas market (~01.01.2024) 🎄🎄 Yummy home made dumplings and desserts 😋 I love it!! If I come here again, I want to here !!! And You have to pay to enter the Church. However, some stores were charged more by foreigners and had high prices with menus that we didn't even add. I feel so bad.😡😡😡😡

Place has a lot of live, always people around, horses, open stores. We stayed right there and it is a good location to go around the city by walk. Didn't quite like the market that is in the middle, but they were just installing the christmas market which seamed very nice! (Left before it started so couldn't explore it)

  • 5/5 Gareth S. 4 months ago on Google
On the hour you can hear a trumpet playing from the clock tower, it’s a track not live do t be fooled like I was haha Such a vibrant laid back square unlike any other square in Europe. Multiple market stalls selling fridge magnets and gifts, a multitude of bars and restaurants with indoor and heated outdoor seating areas. A relaxed and chilled atmosphere

Can't get enough of how amazing this place looks, especially during Christmas time. It's one of my favourite squares in Poland. As most places around Europe, this can get crowded really fast so beware of pickpockets.

A very beautiful place in Krakow, perhaps one of the most famous. You can feel the holiday atmosphere here. Lots of cafes, shops and a museum of the city's history, there is a lot of entertainment.
