This was my first experience of Spanish food in Newcastle and the service was very warm, even though my English was not very good. In stark contrast to our last Turkish restaurant (we were ignored and felt treated unfairly). This was a great restaurant.

Worst experience in tapas bar which I been before. Food is nothing to highlight. Paella is way too too salty. Order a jug of Sangria and taste is like sugar syrup way to sweet. The only good thing is the Atmosphere is good. 😰😰

April 13th 2022. Authentic surroundings. Only 2 staff on but boy did they do a fantastic job. Compliments to the chef 😋 scrumptious and value for money. Highly recommend 👌

Big portions. Good value. All the food was fine, albeit a bit underwhelming - there's no dish that stands out. It's got an authentic Spanish vibe but also felt dingy where we were seated. The sangria was nice. We weren't convinced to go for the set menu.

I'm a repeat customer here. First, the staff is unbelievably lovely. All of them, so kudos to whomever does the hiring! Second, the food is great. The menu is extensive and possibly overwhelming to some, but you'd be hard pressed to mot find something you like on there. Finally, I love the atmosphere of the place. It reminds me of some of the places I've been to in Spain and it's so cozy. The garden seating is great and if I had one wish, it would be that the garden was bigger and got more late afternoon sun. In sum, love this place!

I came with a group of friends for my 50th birthday, we chose the £20.90pp set menu. There were about 20 dishes hot and cold. This is the best meal I have had in Newcastle and we were all full to the limit. The service was amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. Eventhough it was quick service we never felt rushed and they didn't push us to leave once we had finished the meal. I definitely want to come back, I cannot find one fault. 5 star plus

We got one of the set menus. There was four of us and I don't usaly like tapas because I go home hungry!! But I was very pleasantly surprised. They brought out the cold tapas first and then the warm dishes. Food was amazing and I went home with a full tummy and content having a lovely birthday meal.

Really tasty food with very reasonable prices. Have been back multiple times and is always enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone coming to the city! Very friendly towards vegetarians also:)

Really disappointing experience. Mixed salad at £6.65 was nothing more than a handful of mixed salad leaves from a bag you'd get in a supermarket. Tomatoes were ice cold. Keeping tomatoes in a fridge degrades their flavour and these certainly had none. Practically a whole white onion piled on top. Would normally expect red onion in a dish like this. Actually laughing that I paid for it but I had a theatre show to get to and the young man serving was clearly out of his depth. Tomate aliñado was, if I'm being generous, at least one whole cold tomato. Again flavourless. The Champiñones al vino blanco turned up ten minutes after we had finished eating so returned them. Not sure why they took 40 minutes in total to arrive when there were only three other tables in the whole restaurant, and only arrived after we pointed out we hadn't received them. All in all the flavours were severely lacking. Either we came when the usual chef was on leave or other reviewers have never been to Spain. Spanish people would be mortified by the food here.

Never had a bad meal at El coto, perfect sized tapas dishes, our faves are the beef stew and the pork in blue cheese sauce. Everything is reasonably priced.

Fabulous food and great vegan options. Food as great today as it was the last time I was here 6 years ago. Busy even during lunch times as the food is so nice. I personally recommend the garlic mushrooms they were sooo good.

The menu is extensive and is well prepared. Service is leisurely but attentive. A good selection of gins and also Fino and Manzanilla sherry.

Good selection of tapas 3 for £10 during restaurant week. Crowded tables and a bit noisy with an ok selection of beers. Service was quick and attentive. On the whole a place to go for quick food and then on to somewhere else to drink.

Foods fab Great value Nice atmosphere Service lacking in areas Last minute booking with restaurant week and they fitted us in with ease. No one at the front bar to greet which is a shame so wondered through to back to get seated. Now I don’t expect a run down of the menu on arrival but a quick briefing and drink offerings usually standard. Not leaving the menus in a heap and walking away got the sense their a little understaffed. Food and drinks came out prompt and all tasted great. Loved ever dish! This place is very reasonably priced outside of restaurant week and worth going for the food.

Great Spanish tapas restaurant with reasonably priced and good quality food. Drinks are not cheap but what you would expect in a city centre restaurant. Not accessible for wheelchair users and no carpark. Have been on numerous occassions and would highly recommend it

Very accommodating as they squeezed us in last minute and served us ASAP as we didn’t have long before watching a show. Food was fantastic and staff were friendly and polite.

First time eating here, the garlic Mayo is absolutely gorgeous and the baked aubergine dish is so beautiful I could have eaten just that all day! Will definitely be back 😃

Lovely service from start to end! Chose tapas for 2 and added on 3 extra dishes, definitely more than enough! Very authentic and tasty food!
