👍 It's said that one thing you must try while in Portugal is the Cherry Liqueur. We had tried it at a booth in LX Factory, but this place looked official. It's a small space, and that's why there's always a line. The cherry Liqueur in the dark chocolate cup was really good, and we got 2 samples... People often mention chocolate, Lisbon, liquor, good, shot, cherry, experience, ginginha,

Tiny hole in the wall just before you head up the stairs to the streets above. Get the ginja in the chocolate shell! Not only do you get two shots (one to try the liqueur on its own and one to try with the shell), it's really tasty! Makes climbing all the hills a lot easier :)

Ginginha do Carmo is one of the many pit stops for shots of Ginjinha (Ginja), the famous Portuguese cherry based liquor that you will encounter throughout Lisbon. This place is situated just next to the stairs at the end of Calçada do Carmo in between Praca de Rossio and Largo do Carmo. Opening hours are 12pm to 12am, shots are €1.45 each or €1.65 if you want to take your shot in a chocolate cup. You can also order a variety of Ports and coffee here as well. Worth a quick stop and try if you are making your way through the area and fancy a Ginjinha shot.

Such a lovely little pitstop to sample this lovely cherry liquor. You can get it served in shot glasses or chocolate cups for a little bit extra. It tastes really good and is a quirky, inexpensive little detour as you're wandering around Lisbon. Well worth popping in for a taster.

While exploring in Lisbon, we found our first Ginginha and had to try it. It was so good, especially with the dark chocolate. We had others in different areas in Lisbon and other parts of Portugal. This one was the sweetest and was my favorite.

Such a fun stop on our way back to our hotel after dinner! We're not big drinkers, but the ginjinha in a chocolate cup was delicious, and an absolute must to experience Lisbon as a local.

When in Lisbon, this is a must! The shot was good, not too sweet, and it went very well with the dark chocolate cup. We went there for our after dinner cordial. It’s a fun experience.

A most lovely and kind lady in there looking after us. She was extremely patient and pleasant with us. We took two shots of cherry liquor (one in a chocolate cup), which was delicious. We will definitely return!

Does not taste like alcohol at all! The cherry liquor is sweet and very tasty! The chocolate cup gets refilled once you e had your shot as it’s a small container. Both were ~€3. Very easy to get to, right next to the station!

Our favorite ginginha stop. Nice balanced flavor. Not too sweet. Less cinnamon notes than A Ginginha. I like that they serve in glass and not plastic.

Absolutely horrible. I took a friend that was visiting and the lady working there was the nastiest we’ve ever experienced. I asked her if she spoke English or Spanish and with a very judgemental attitude she said: no. In broken Portugues I asked her a little bit more about the history of Ginginha and after calling her attention for a couple of times coz she was just looking at the phone she answered: you can look it up yourself and read it. “It’s made in Lisbon, what else do you wanna know?” My visitor felt terrible, the experience was undesirable, she was rude from the very begging. Never had experienced something like in Portugal, we left very disappointed. It was a goodbye touch I had prepared for her and now I feel embarrassed coz I took that place. Don’t know who that lady working there is but she clearly doesn’t like to be there. It ruined the place for me.

I see the reviews are very high, but I can tell you - this is not real ginginha. It is watery and pretty much tasteless compared to a real one. The biggest tourist trap we encountered while in Lisbon. There are loads of other places for actual ginginha.

Really great friendly place. Staff exactly as you would want them... friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Carlos and Nunu (?) superb hosts. We are staying at number 43, this is 41! Couldn't be more convenient! 👍👍👍👍🍺🍷

Quaint and cute small Ghinginha at the foot of the stairs. The shots were good but not our favorite. Still a great spot for a quick drink

Good for quick shot of traditional Portugal liquor and go. They only have standing table, no toilet. Liquor tastes good!

Great experience that I had twice ! Local liquor that everyone should try at least once ! You can try with or without the fruits (1,4€ the cup)

Nice place. Passed it a couple of times and every time we order a ginginha.

Wonderful spot and personnel. Not much in terms of table space, but 1.85 for a shot of ginjinha in a chocolate cup with a free refill! Delicious.

A must stop in Lisbon. Cherry liquor. You will get a second shot for free if you don’t eat the chocolate cup on the first sip.
