Restaurant

👍👍 Love the place!! So glad we found it. Authentic food and at such reasonable prices. The team also gave great service despite being a very small team. Everything is fresh and made a la minute. They have a short menu so if you are a big group you can try almost everything! Restaurant is very small so... I had the pleasure of dining at Agulha no Palheiro tonight and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From start to finish, everything was perfect. We started off with the guacamole, which was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. It was the perfect appetizer to start our meal. Next up was the tuna steak, which was cooked to perfection. The outside was seared to a crispy golden brown while the inside was juicy and tender. It was accompanied by a side of sautéed mushrooms which were also cooked to perfection. Overall, the quality of the food was exceptional and the price was more than reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. It was truly a 5-star experience and I can't wait to come back again! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the dessert! We couldn't resist trying the chocolate cake and it was a decision we definitely did not regret. It was served warm with a generous scoop of ice cream on the side. The cake was rich, moist and decadent, with just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Overall, Agulha no Palheiro exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was exceptional, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience, look no further than Agulha no Palheiro. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. 5 stars all around

This place!! You wouldn’t even know it was a restaurant as it’s very understated, but the food is simply DIVINE. We had guacamole, tuna, mushrooms, steak, and the worst chocolate cake in the world (which it isn’t, it’s delicious). The Michelle Pfeiffer cocktails were scrumptious too. You need to book to ensure you get a table as there are only 5 available. Highly, highly recommend!

Easily one of the best meals of my life. It starts with the restaurant itself: one room, unassuming, clearly not pandering to tourists, one server, two chefs, five or six tables. It felt like eating at a friend's home, if the friend was a world class chef just making dishes they loved. The service and the music couldn't have been better: helpful nice multilingual and with wonderful vibes. Then the food. We started with an olive paste that was simple and devine. Then a mushroom dish unlike anything I'd ever had before. We asked each other: is this a soup or just very saucy? Which to me, is heaven. And somehow the next dish was even better: cod that was a mix of cloud-soft flesh and a crunchy humus type dip. It stirred something deep in our souls, and maybe it was the wine, but my partner and I both were overwhelmed with emotion by the end of that dish. The tuna steak was next, and while it couldn't live up to the cod, it was exactly what you'd want in a meat and potatoes type dish, at times tasting as rich and heavy as actual steak. The desserts were a haze but equally delicious. This was the highlight of our trip, and will stay in our hearts for years to come.

Super cozy and out of the ordinary eatery. We had an amazing meal just as usual for Portugal is saltier than normal but it was great. FYI dishes are served family style and i love when they do that. It was a good break from other cuisines for us at least. Only the steak is not as tender as most people from the us are used to but it was tasty and the chef cut against the grain to make it tender. The tuna was ok of course don’t expect sushi grade but it was good. The fresh orange juice as super super sweet. I would come back again my next time in Lisbon…!!!

Small restaurant with only 5 tables. The food is delicious. Here you order 1 dish per person and have to share it. There were four of us and we ordered four different dishes, then received them one by one and shared them between us. Everything was very delicious. No tables are reserved here!!!

What a hidden gem! We visited early Jan to celebrate my Birthday and were so impressed. It's a rather small restaurant that doesn't look fancy at all but the food and service you receive is definitely of Michelin star level & excellent value. They were so accommodating when we turned up and the table wasn't ready just yet, so they made some room for us to sit down with a bottle of wine. You need to visit this restaurant when in Lisbon but would definitely recommend booking in advance as you don't want to miss out!

Easily the best meal we had in Lisbon. The place is small and we wanted to go there so much that we had to wait the second round at 21.30 to find a free table, but it totally is with the wait. The idea is to share dishes prepared on spot in a tiny kitchen by expert hands and a big heart. Service was super-nice and attentive. Price-quality at the top, we would go back again immediately!

I followed the delicious smells to discover this hidden gem. The food was outstanding, balanced and delicious flavour combos. I had the mushrooms to start and the cod for main which were both incredible. The house white wine was also delicious Thank you for a wonderful experience ❤️

Wonderful cozy restaurant with friendly staff and amazing food. Highly recommend getting the guacamole, tuna steak and the worst chocolate cake in the world. The wine selection is great as well, including the house wine.

The name says it all - Agulha no Palheiro, the needle in the haystack. Unique, delicious, outstanding cuisine in a 50’s retro cafe-bar ambience. Every dish another unprecedented explosion of taste. Haute cuisine, but with solid portions and without any ballyhoo. Wow!

We only had coffee, wine and chocolate cake when we visited. The cake was delicious and the white wine was just alright. The ambience was really nice and quirky and the server was friendly. We are excited to go back for a proper dinner there sometime!

Amazing!!! You must eat here. It is a hidden gem is this beautiful city. Not just dinner but a gastronomic experience. Easily the best dinner we had in Lisbon. Amazing staff and incredible chef. Joana was a lovely hostess and so friendly. We shared photos of fishing. Chef Antonio is a genius. Michelin star quality that is very low priced. We may come back again in our Lisbon holiday. Anthony Bourdain would eat at this restaurant. Thank you, John and Salima Vancouver Canada. Joana and Antonio if you ever visit Vancouver please look us up. We'll go fishing!

The size of this little gem belies the remarkable quality of its food. The service was excellent and every dish was explained before we ordered; drink pairings were offered. Every dish had a fun, and uniquely complex, collection of flavors that ask to be savored but are easy enough to devour. They explained that their "style" is to deliver each plate as a course to be shared. It is often fully booked, so plan ahead and get a reservation. This is a must-try in Alfama.

Lovely ambiance. Great food - i tried the tuna and also the beef steak, both great in terms of taste, presentation and portion size. Wine by the glass was just ok. Would highly recommend. very fair price-value

Small menu but great quality, everything was innovative, with the best ingredients, lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious, it is recommended to share several dishes. Top wines, friendly service, an insider tip on the Tejo near St Apolónia, surrounded by construction fences, difficult to find. Price-performance very fair. Unpretentious ambience, “shabby chic” without tablecloths and very simple furniture, but the cooking quickly makes you forget the uncomfortable chairs.

One of the best meals I had in Europe. From the presentation, the flavors, the girl's explanation of the dishes. Very good experience. I recommend 100%

Could not recommend enough! The food is sensational and the service is fantastic as well. It is a must if you are in Lisbon. I would recommend the tuna and the chocolate lava cake for dessert. Small restaurant though so I would recommend booking in advance.

The best meal I had in Lisbon, I just wish I had stumbled upon it earlier as it was my last full meal prior to departing back to Los Angeles. Their fresh squeezed orange juice was delightful, and I enjoyed their black olive starter. My main dish was a boiled Trout with a vegetable mash of some sort. It was incredible delicious and I would highly recommend. Even though their prices are higher than other restaurants in the area, you will still find it significantly cheaper than most major metropolitan areas in the US. I had the orange juice, a bottle of still water, a starter, main course, and an espresso and my total was 23 Euro. Completely worth it. Ps* They actually check your Covid Vaccination prior to dining inside, which only 1 other establishment checked during my 4 days in Lisbon.

Awesome Tapa style restaurant - a definite must try! Make sure you book. If available, try the sheep cheese cake- it's even better than the chocolate lava cake, which already is spectacular! Be patient with service, by drinking their awesome cocktails!

This lovely restaurant is the best kept secret in Lisbon. We had the most amazing meal and Antonio and Joana are the perfect hosts. They are so welcoming that you feel you’re guests in their own home. It’s small and intimate and cozy. The food is creative and fresh and delicious. 💕

All you want when exploring a new restaurant: small menu, fresh cooking, beautifully plated and great taste. Small dishes to share combined with excellent service. This was a recommendation from friends and I can just pass the recommendation on. Expect to wait a bit for your food, but that's OK cause you will see the food made in front of you and the staff buzzing in the dining room.

Best meal I’ve had in lisbon in ages. Great eating out experience; the dishes are well balanced and none out of the 7-8 we had flaws. Service exceptional. It’s a little bit cold during the winter so bring a jumper!

Our friends recommended this place to us and it did not disappoint. It was the best meal we had the entire trip. The detail to each plate and balance of flavors was unmatched and made for one of the best meals we’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend to anyone. Make sure to make reservations because there are only 5 tables at the restaurant. You cannot beat the value of food and will be shocked by the reasonable price!!
