I am experiencing a very challenging experience, that I hope will be resolved in a positive way. We booked a long vacation with this hotel, which amounted to approximately 7,000 Euro. Unfortunately, due to personal hardship, we had to cancel the reservation. The first answer from the hotel was that they cannot refund the money. I was a bit surprised, so I respectfully asked if we can move the timing or establish a credit because we would like to stay at this hotel when we are able to travel again. The very shocking answer from the hotel was - "No" - you cannot change the date, we do not refund, and you will not receive a credit!" I respectfully asked, well "what do you do with our money?" And "do you make the rooms available to other guests to reserve - even though we need to reschedule". The answer is they keep all the money. I asked to speak with a manager. My hope is that common sense and customer advocacy will prevail here. If we get a better answer, I will update this review. But until then, be super careful about staying. at this hotel & I recommend looking at other hotel options for any vacations to Portugal.

I would like to compliment and thank again to the staff in the concierge on 29 Oct around 5pm. I felt on the floor near the hotel area on a rainy day. With quite a number of wounds and bleeding continuously, I went to the hotel and sought for help. If I remembered correctly, there were a lady in charge of the concierge and two other men on duty too. They were very helpful and offered me some first aid items. One staff even guided me to the toilet and asked if further help was needed. I appreciate very much the assistance of the hotel staff and hence write this note to compliment them. They are valuable assets to the hotels n i believe travellers staying there should feel the same.

Wir waren begeistert. Freundliche Mitarbeiter, sauber, große Zimmer mit Blick auf den Fluss, schöner Spabereich, reichhaltiges Frühstück, guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge...sehr zu empfehlen

Amazing hotel with brilliant service. We got the spa’s day pass and spent the entire day at the hotel. The view from the sun deck was spectacular as the location is by the harbour side promenade, with the Belem tower on on side and the Golden Gate Bridge on the other. The spa facilities were great, although the showers could be better maintained. However for €50/day you get access to the sun deck pool, indoor pool, hammam and sauna along with towels, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries provided, I really cannot complain. Service on the sun deck was a bit slow, but I think the waiter is new so it’s understandable. There is also a bar on the ground floor that has great food and drinks. Should definitely come here if you are looking for a relaxing poolside day.

The service is terrible. Really rude personal which is working at the reception, no respect to clients. Fake smiles. We extended the room, but they took all the clothes, see what is inside our bags, they found vibrator in the bag and speak about it and laugh in front of other staff and clients. Completely disappointed. I don’t recommend this place. And I will never come back here.

Magnificent! We stayed there for almost two weeks, and I have nothing negative to say about the property. It's located in a beautiful area of Lisbon with beautiful views. The hotel itself is a clean design with modern approach. The staff that work there are without a doubt pleasant, friendly, accommodating and are very much about hospitality. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. Also I cant go without mentioning the housekeeping team and engineering team. They're outstanding ! Food and drinks were delicious! Thank you !

Nice hotel by the river, the room was large and modern, the breakfast was excellent. A bit noisy with the nearby train but very convenient and easy going staff.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this property in July. This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The hotel, amenities, food and location can't be beat. The staff was also excellent and very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The room was excellent including the balcony that look up river toward the April 25 Bridge and Lisbon. Perched right on the river makes for easy walks into Belém and the surrounding attractions. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the boat harbor and river was something I looked forward to each day. Lunch at the same restaurant was also excellent. They even gave me a table for my computer while I ate. I enjoyed getting up early and watching the cruise ships come into Lisbon and the rest of the day watching ships and boats of all kinds. The views at night were spectacular too. If you need a place to relax and unwind this is the place.

Possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in! From the second I walked in I was treated like a VIP by the team and nothing was ever too much trouble. My room had a lovely view of the Marina and I could sit and just enjoy the peaceful scenery for hours. It was a great base to relax at the end of a busy day! The spa is also excellent, a great pool with treatments available. The facilities are really great! The food is also incredible, I enjoyed a buffet breakfast with plenty of choice and top quality food. Absolutely faultless hotel, would love to return!

Lovely hotel. Location is perfect, right on the river with wonderful views. Within walking distance of all the sightseeing points in Belem. Great rooms, spacious and contain all the amenities required, oh and fantastic beds. This must be the singularly most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Breakfast is fabulous, really nice selection covering most tastes a for breakfast. But what takes this place beyond just another hotel is the staff. Prompt, efficient service. Genuinely friendly, helpful and welcoming. They are the star in the crown.

Location overlooking the Tagus River, is the perfect setting for Lisbon break. Situated in Belem it is 15 minutes from Lisbon central. The Hotel is beautiful. Rooms are a good size and they also complimented an upgrade. Breakfast is a choice of fruits & yogurts, cold meats and cheese as well as full English options. Service awesome. The Bar serves both the outdoors lounge and swim balcony with great drinks, food and nibbles. Must stay hotel with great advice from the conceierge on places to visit. Spa is world class high luxury with a choice of treatments. Also Michelle star dining in the restaurant Feitoria. Great place and highly recommend.

I have a tour with 15people in the hotel from 19jul to 21jul. When we checked in, the receptionist took 45mins to arrange the rooms and the male middle aged receptionis talked very loud to my clients coz they were not responding to their request, and that client is only 16yrs old!cannot believe it happened in a 5star hotel! I made my complaint and I received the apology from the younger receptionist and none of my clients heard anything from the rude one! What's worse happened on the second day, i came in and expecting my clients in the lobby, the receptionist send someone to ask me why I was there and who I am expecting! Wow....five star hotel! 1st time ever! You should write on the door, that no visitors welcome to our lobby and pls dnt step in our property! I recommended your hotel for its wonderful location and facilities, and what the reception team have done is far beyond my expectation!

Amazing hotel, very nice and spacious rooms. Service A1. Will go back. If you want a hotel in the action it's might be a little to far for you. 10 euro from Chiado.

Was thinking of hosting a 100+ person event here next year. Came to check the facilities. Seems like a very good hotel, but they must do something about the rude front desk people. Especially Isabel, who needs to check her temper. So thanks but no thanks. Completely spoiled the mood.

Beautiful restaurant with amazing calm atmosphere. The food was a culinary tour of the area. Each dish comes with a story and an explanation accompanied by a display of the ingredients that you’re going to have. It was an unusual and different experience. We recommend warmly.

The Hotel is absolutely beautiful, with very helpful staff and excellent surroundings and views! Unfortunetly I cannot give 5 stars, the coffee we were served at breakfast was awful - ordered filter coffee, and a Barista coffee - Instant coffee would have been better. The breakfast was a massive let down..... Cold Breakfast buffet was good, warm breakfast was the real let down. Selection extremely limited, with an "egg menu" where you can order omelette or eggs benedict etc. We went with the eggs benedict, and I cannot describe what we were served - We could smell that it was burnt before it had even arrived at our table - Why was this served to us at a 5 star hotel? It is like someone took a blow torch to our breakfast? The lack of food options in general at the hotel is a big let down, you cant be 5 star if you don't serve dinner? We also requested an extension to our checkout, which was originally 12, but had been extended to 1pm. Cleaners were banging on our door at 11:30, 11:50, 12:30, then entered the room briefly uninvited at 12:45 as we were finishing packing - slight annoyance - but this shouldn't happen in a 5 star hotel. It is unfortunate, that after spending nearly €400 the room for 1 night, we had regrets that we may have made the wrong choice! I would not return, unless the Food and Beverage situation had been vastly improved.

Hotel room is large with nice view, lovely location if you would like to have a relaxing vacation. Nice SPA and spa facilities. Breakfast included. Few problems in hotel room occurred during our stay, but hotel staff help to solve all problems promptly. All the hotel staff (front desk, bar, restaurant, housekeeping, SPA) are helpful and nice. Special thanks to Erica who taking good care of us during our stay.

( edit). The hotel reached out and explained that children, senior, and pregnant women are allowed to use hotels washrooms. I guess they should also explain this policy to the staff standing at the door. Thank you for your consideration It is not about how the hotel runs. it is about how they care about other people. It is about hospitality. I asked them if I am allowed to use the restroom for my 4 years old and the answer was no. I totally understand the hotel should have a policy for adults and only for hotel guests, but honestly a fours old ?? Disgusting!!!

I had a great time with my daughter. The hotel is beautiful and the location great!!! The service could be improved especially the client service. I had my flight cancelled and I arrived one day later, they didn't want to refund the night. They didn't even bother to make a commercial gesture (i.e., offer a dinner, an upgrade etc) to make it up to me. I was disappointed on that side.

Amazing experience at the Altis Belem - The team has been so welcoming at reception, bar, restaurant and spa!!! Always available for advice and suggestion for visits! We got some great welcoming surprises in our room like tapas, pasteis de nata or even glasses or wine through our entire stay! Thanks so much for this great time! Estelle, Giam & Lea!

Hotel badly needs a full maintenance repair and deep clean. Bathroom was falling apart, everything leaking, floors stained. Hotel was probably once 5 star but not anymore and needs a full refresh. Location isn't good for city centre, but has parking and can taxi/Uber wherever you want to go. Belem area on doorstep. Train line nextdoor makes a lot of noise until about 10pm. Breakfast not great, cooked options limited, coffee poor. Chromecast on room TV was nice to have.

(Reply to the hotels reply below: It has not been solved. I am still pennyless - they are not trying to resolve it, they made the experience extremely difficult - and it is still not handled. DO NOT GIVE THIS HOTEL YOUR BANK CARD INFORMATION. )**Charged my card 400+ euros, two days -after- checkout. I had already paid in full.** They put a hold on my charge card, as hotels do and then charged me two different (correct) amounts on the day I left: but then two days later (when most guests might not even be in the area) they charged the combined amount again - almost 500 euros. Huge Red flag: They clearly do not erase guests’ card information, nor clear any holds on their guests’ cards - after already charging them. While the hotel was nice (some of the therma spa areas did not work, and the walls are thin but the breakfast is very good, and so are the rooms) - but I wouldn’t give them a credit card, as they are now attempting to make the situation -more- difficult for me. My bank asked for email verification that this is what occurred so that I will receive the money back ASAP; but the hotel will not comply. Therefore leaving me days, maybe even weeks, without the funds back, if at all. They are one of those hotels that hope you believe they are five star - then victimize their guests after checkout, when it is clear their system (or staff) made a serious mistake.

Probably the Hotel with the best view in Lisbon, right in front of the river! It's in the right place, distance walking from the popular monuments Torre de Belem, Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and 15m by car from the city center, however in a very quiet place just in front of the rivier with no other buildings or traffic nearby. The service is amazing, the staff is very friendly and attentive and the facilities are great, it also has an amazing spa! I definitely recommend it!

A beautiful hotel and the rooms are lovely with sumptuous linens. The spa was a delight as well. Food was good and the drinks were awesome - very good bartender. Front desk was gracious and helpful. I would have given it a 5 but the location in Belem requires that you use taxi/Uber or public transit to into town.

Photos won't do justice with how beautiful the hotel is. The service is so friendly. Not fake friendly, but actual friendly and welcoming. It's not cheap, but definitely worth every penny.

One of the best hotels I had stayed. The staff is very friendly and helped us in everything. The architecture and decoration are superb, the restaurants include one with micheline stars. The breakfast is great with a view of the river. Hope to come back soon

This hotel is in Belem. Out of the city centre and on the harbour. The pool area is situated on the 3rd floor and never got busy. There is no bar next to the pool but you have to call for bar service. The only reason I have put 4 star for the room was for the decor. This is getting worn. There were marks on the wardrobes and the vinyl had peeled back. These must have been there for a while and the ceiling had been filled in and wasn't repainted. The stairs from the 1st floor the the reception need fixing. As one of them moves when you walk on it. But I'm nickpicking. Overall fantastic location, lovely views. Friendly service and the breakfast was edible.

It's a beautiful and intimate hotel with an incredibly accommodating staff. I messaged ahead of my trip asking if I could check in early, as my flight was set to arrive very early in the morning. No issues whatsoever. I was greeted by local treats and wine, courtesy of the staff. The location was perfect- spectacular views of the Tagus and close to every destination a visitor to Lisboa would want to see. The Spa located inside the hotel is an added bonus. Worth every penny.

The SPA Employees were not welcoming at all. From the moment we arrived, we felt that they were unhappy of our presence. Moreover, a part of the SPA was closed. I just want to say that the employees at the reception were lovely.

Very beautiful hotel, nicely designed, very good service and smart stuff. Beautiful Pool and good gym. Nicely presented and tasty breakfast with good table service. Very good room service and tasty meals. Wonderful located, directly at the river Tejo. We will surely Return to this hotel another time.

An excellent boutique hotel just steps away from Belem Tower. We couldn't fault anything about the hotel. The location couldn't be more perfect. The reception/bar staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was modern, spacious, nicely decorated and spotless clean. And last but not least the view from the room was beautiful. We will definitely stay there again.

The staff is excellent in all areas of the hotel- especially the breakfast team who serve a wonderful buffet and special requests; service is impeccable! The front desk team was extremely helpful with all of our requests and provided reservations at excellent restaurants. The Michelin star restaurant provided an exceptional experience of food and service and the wine bar also serves great food with excellent service. The spa is wonderful with excellent masseurs and the pool area is awesome. Finally, we had a beautiful room overlooking the marina with a sliding glass door, so we were able to watch all of the boats coming and going and the king bed was exquisite. Highly recommend!🙌😎🛌🍷🍽

We absolutely loved the hotel. This is a great hotel that has the perfect location. Our room look out over the water and everything was within walking distance. If you have never been to Lisbon and you want to stay a the best place in the best spot, you need to stay here!

  • 5/5 Roland S. 3 years ago on Google
Staff is down to earth and kind. Style is ultra modern with an oriental twist. Three eateries onsite, including a Michelin star restaurant. The restaurant will cost you much more than the hotel stay, but maybe it's a good reason to book a room! Great access to five or six museums, but start early because during Covid they close somewhat early. These hotel rooms have bidets! Now that's old-school. Interiors are predominantly black granite. The balconies are more of open windows than actual terraces you can occupy. Automatic metal window grate and blackout curtains give this a James Bond feel, as do the Mercedes and BMW car services hanging out in the car park...

Nice location, great indoor and outdoor pool, spacious rooms... however, service was pretty slow and breakfast was not worth a 5 star hotel.

Hotel super well located with a great view to Tejo, ponte 25 de Abril and 2 historic monuments. All rooms have water view and are comfortable. The pool on the 3rd floor is rather small but you can just stay there and enjoy the view. Good breakfast that can also be outside and nice staff.
