This is the best hostel I've ever stayed at socially. I was a solo traveller in my mid-30's and it was perfect. It's so easy to meet people and over a beer or a coffee or on the walking tour. I highly recommend Mama's dinner to meet people which happens each night. All the staff were super friendly but I need to give the guys who work overnight extra praise - they were always so good with us and were good people. See you in 2023 Home!

The hostel is definitely recommended for solo travellers and small groups. It has such a friendly vibe you won't feel lonely in this place. The facilities are great and it really feels like a home here. The people are all friendly and open minded so a great place to make friends.

I cannot recommend a better hostel! One of the nicest hostels I've ever been in. I was in a female dorm which held 6. The room was spacious and homey. Each bed had its own curtain for extra privacy. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The hostel offer loads of activities if you so wish to participate like pub crawls, trips to Sintra and even a nightly dinner cooked by Mama! Would highly recommend this hostel especially for solo travellers as there are loads of others in the same boat as you and the hostel helps you to get to know them if you want to.

Genuinely the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. I met so many amazing people in the hostel bar, which is beautifully designed and full of soul. The relaxed nature of the hostel made it feel like I was home. I guess that’s why they call it Home Hostel! If you are an open hearted, curious, friendly and nice person, you will love this hostel. I want to return asap ❤️

Friendly hostel, fairly clean. The highlight of my stay was Mamma’s dinners. At 15 euros for 3 courses plus wine or beer and a shot of port to end, it’s fantastic value and so delicious. Docking one star because the toilets could be better maintained - during my stay, three shower cubicles went out of order along with two toilet cubicles and it took more than 2 days to fix. Lift was also not working so beware if you’re given a room on a higher floor.

Had a fantastic stay at this hostel! The space is very cozy, but has a lively atmosphere and is very clean with nice facilities. Mama's Dinner and the bar area are great for socializing. Beds were very comfy. Location is right in the heart of the city close to many sites! Would highly, highly recommend staying here!

The hostel is great for solo travellers. They offer activities, and have a nice and cheap bar that brings people together. Location is excellent. Rooms not great. Bathrooms pretty terrible.

Amazing hostel! It is very social, I made so many new friends there, the vibe is really cool. The decoration & furniture is one of finest I've seen in a hostel. Staff go the extra mile to ensure you have a good stay. And the food served, both at breakfast and at dinner is delicious. I will definitely come back!

The vibes here are immaculate! Cool area to hang. There's always something happening, so you can easily make friends either via the breakfast area or the walking tour. The reception/bar is well decorated Now here comes the bad part about this hostel. The rooms are old, and very moldy. The privacy curtain doesn't fully close so there's no actual privacy. The washroom are dirty, it smells like sewage the whole time and the shower floors are dirty. Kinda disappointing because this could've been a great hostels, but cleanliness is lacking here.

I think this was likely the best hostel I have ever been to. Amazing place that I would return to again and again. It’s elegant and refined while still being laid back and budget friendly. Great place to meet new people but also allows space to work/read alone (many people were working remotely). If you go, get the breakfast!! That was the best part.

Great place! The team is super friendly and makes you feel welcome and at home right away. The community areas are stylish and spacious with enough room to hang out, work or grab a beer at the bar. They serve breakfast and dinner every day in the big dining hall. Every floor has plenty of toilets and showers and all the facilities are very clean and well maintained. It’s perfectly located to explore the city center by foot. Definitely recommended!

An amazing way to stay Never felt more welcome in a hostel. The staff are warm, gracious folk, and staying at Home Hostel feels like dropping in on family for a couple of nights. Met such nice people at Home Hostel... and that can't be a coincidence. Just an exceptional lodging experience. 6 out of 5 stars 😉

Very welcoming staff! We were greeted with one shot of Ginjiha and a very friendly receptionist! We stayed in the private room and the room was clean! The breakfast was great and it was included with the room. We enjoyed meeting the staffs and other travelers! The bar/reception area is such a vibe and the co-working space is nice!

Wow what a beautiful hostel, but really I felt like I was in a hotel. So stylish and clean. Very very friendly and such a good vibe. I only stayed one night but wish I could’ve stayed longer. Beautiful breakfast for €5 and a welcome drink on arrival. Highly recommended.

This is HANDS DOWN the best hostel in Lisbon. The rooms are great. The atmosphere is great. The food is great! Thanks, Mama. You are amazing. I changed plans to come back in a few weeks because it is so good. Plus, I gotta hang with my new friends and family in Lisbon! Yeah, you are one of the family the second you walk in... And they mean it. Stay here. Just do it. You won't regret it.

Been to many countries and this was one of my favorite hostels ever. Staff is great, volunteers are great. It is impossible to do the breakfast, dinner, or a tour at the hostel and not meet friends. Stayed here over a week.

We stayed in a double twin private room with ensuite for 3 nights. The room was beautiful. Fairly quiet at night for sleeping and appreciated having air conditioning as it was very hot. The whole building is beautiful and the reception staff were super friendly. We enjoyed a few drinks one night at the hostel bar and it was a fun vibe. Perfect location to for exploring the heart of Lisbon. Only complaint we had was that the pillows were tad uncomfortable. Highly recommend for a cool Lisbon stay!!

Home hostel is a place I will keep coming back too. The atmosphere off the place is special. André, Alex and the rest off the staff were incredibly cool, fun, and absolutely fantastic. Their warm and friendly behavior made every moment enjoyable. This hostel truly feels like a home away from home.

Fantastic place from where to start discover Lisbon. Close to the train station, shops, restaurants and local grocery shops. This hostel has a welcoming atmosphere and friendly and supportive staff. Bathroos, rooms, everywhere are very clean l. Beds are comfortable and lots of space for belongs. There are launch rooms perfect for rest and chilling out, having a drink and relaxing after a busy day. Most memorable were the fantastic, friendly staff. There you will feel they care about you and your comfort. Highly recommend

Really really good hostel. Great staff, atmosphere and food. Rooms are clean, big and quality beds. In the rooms it's nice and quiet and there's plenty of people and fun if you come downstairs. We enjoyed that there was a guitar, tv and some games in the lounge room for the slower moments. Points to improve would be that quite some bathrooms were out of service and the other ones had a but of sewer smell from time to time, but you get that in old buildings.

This was the most magical place and even though I feel I saw everything I needed to see in Lisbon, I would go back just to stay at Home again! Location is unbeatable, right in the center of town and walkable to everything worth seeing. My uber driver from the airport did have trouble finding it at first because the entrance is in a pedestrian zone between two streets, but once I knew where it was, it was smooth sailing. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I think I even met a long-lost relative with the same unique last name as me. I didn't book with enough notice to get into a female-only room, but the curtains on the bunks gave me all the privacy I needed and I was still able to access the female bathrooms which was nice. The STORAGE space was mindblowing, I was traveling for 3 weeks and had my biggest suitcase with me, and it fit in the underbed drawer with room left over. My one regret is that I made dinner plans ahead of time and didn't go to the family dinner until my last night, it was so much fun and a great way for a solo traveler to meet some of the other guests without it feeling forced. Overall, I couldn't recommend Home Hostel any more! Especially to any solo female travelers, this hostel and Lisbon in general should be at the top of your list!

One of the best hostels in Lisbon! Very friendly staff. A clean environement. Daily option of having a tasty breakfast for 3 euros and a great dinner for 10 euros. The large tables make social interaction very easy and accessible. It truly feels like home.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. The room and bathrooms/showers are super clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. It was a great social hostel without being overwhelmingly party focussed. I felt safe, comfortable and well looked after. Also the breakfast is incredibly good value so I’d recommend going to that :)

As clearly stated in it's name, this property by far lives up to its name as the epitome of a home-away-from-home experience for the modern-day backpacker. Yet, this description does not encapsulate the divine, bohemian aesthetic that you will enter as you are greeted at reception. From the extremely personable staff who became family from the word go, to the hospitality of 'Mama' who would graciously prepare a wonderful dinner at the end of the day. This alongside being provided with a clean and conditioned place to rest my head at night and wash up in the morning, Home Lisbon Hostel will for sure go down as one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Looking forward to staying with you guys soon!

Great hostel and very nice crew and hospitality. Rooms and bathrooms are super clean, nice food and kitchen. It also has a great location, close to Praça do Comércio. The reservations could be better managed cause some groups didn’t stay in the same room (and couples as well). Despite this, the hostel has a great and cozy environment and it was one of the best that I have stayed.

Good hostel. Very nice rooms and amazing common area. Good social atmosphere. Toilets aren’t the nicest though. Welcome is also pretty good although it depends who does it. Highly recommend the 5 euro breakfast! Very very good. Personally however I was a little disappointed by a check-in where my bed was occupied but they made amends quickly to a different room. (and I was not the only one this happened to) Also got my Pasteis de Belem stolen from the kitchen after just a few hours in there that I was supposed to bring back to Canada. That really soured the entire experience but that’s not really the fault of the staff. Big F you to the person who did it whoever it was.

It's a PERFECT 10. Could not ask for anything more while visiting Lisbon. Perfect atmosphere, location, and facilities. Plus the staff is warm and welcoming, it is clean, and there are nice areas to work and/or visit, including the cafe/bar at the entrance on the second floor. The location can be hard to find; it's just above the bust restaurant called Nicolau. The housekeeping staff is very friendly and kind as well. Already booked a second stay here when circling back to Lisbon before departing from Lisbon.

Hostel is really clean and has amazing vibe. Receptionists speak really good English. Remember to take your locker with you, otherwise you'll have to pay 5€🙃

Probably best hostel in Lisbon. Clean, nice staff, good accomodations, perfect location and feels good to be in there. Could manage better the organization of rooms for couples and groups, but anyway I would recommend 100%!! Thanks Jonas for all attention with us.

A friend and I stayed at Home for a night while in Lisbon and we loved it! We had a 4 person mixed dorm: the bunks were comfortable, with a little curtain for privacy, and plenty of storage for our bags. We did Mama’s home cooked dinner with the other guests and staff- everything was delicious and a great way to connect with other travelers. They offered pub crawls and tours, which we didn’t do, but would be great for solo travelers! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the space itself was just so beautiful and right in the center of the action. Would definitely stay again in Lisbon!

BEST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. PERIOD. Place is amazing, mama's dinners are great food and social time, the bar is super cheap and affordable, tours offered, social/fun vibe of all the guests. It's a bit more on the pricier side for Lisbon hostels but IT IS WORTH IT. do it, you won't regret it

Awesome friendly atmosphere. I really liked how the vibe was usually more experienced (late 20s/early 30s) travelers, less so college kids. Dinner with Mama was lovely and fun, and Matild at the front desk is an angel.

Really lovely hostel. Staff were super friendly. Dorms super comfortable and facilities really clean and equipped. Great location as well. One of Mama’s dinners is a must!

Stayed here for 5 nights in September solo in a four bed mixed dorm. Lovely atmosphere here. Very easy to make friends in the hostel bar and the staff are very friendly and polite (but also genuine) Andre is a lovely guy!

Me and my buddies have spent a few days at this hostel and it has been an incredible experience! The people here are incredibly friendly and homey - especially Mary whose customer service is next level. The people, the drinks, the food, the music, the quality and comfort, all five stars!

Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Clean rooms. However, nobody wore face masks and large numbers of guests would crowd into the lobby/bar area.

If you come here you have to sign up for one of Mama's dinners. It's a great way to meet people & you might even get to talk to Mama herself. The hostel itself is incredibly clean and organized with amazing employees. There are lots of places to hangout in the shared areas

"Home" was awesome! From convenient breakfasts, to helping coordinate plans around Lisbon, everything was absolutely fantastic. The hosts helped me make a local call, figure out public transportation, and they were extremely friendly. They also had the option for us to take a tour of Sintra with Joao, which was spectacular - he was an amazing guide. The facilities were cleaned regularly, comfortable, and the lockers in the rooms were spacious for us to leave our valuables. The hostel is easy to get to, it's very close to the water, and there are tons of touristic options plus restaurants in walking distance. I will definitely refer my friends here.

Amazing hostel. The staff was very welcoming and kind. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and cozy, it really felt like a home away from home. Also recommend to sign up for Mamma's dinners! And do not miss out on the Sintra tour, it was amazing and totally worth the price. João was an amazing guide. Thanks so much guys and see you again.

The vanity area in the bathroom is well thought out and keeps the hair and make-up separate from the handwashing and teeth brushing. Mama's dinners are so much fun. Great way to meat people. Breakfast was also great with lots of variety.

  • 5/5 Lukasz W. 2 years ago on Google
It was definitely THE BEST hostel I've ever stayed in! It's like a 5* hotel with a hostel vibe, I totally recommend it to anyone. There's also a lot of space for working if one's a digital nomad. If I ever look for hostel in Lisbon, it will definitely be Home Lisbon.

Probably one of the nicest hostels I have been to in a large city. Definitely easy to meet others, great mama dinner, and clean rooms/facilities. One of the best locations to be as a tourist in Lisbon. And, the hostel even has air conditioning, which was a nice surprise considering the heatwave. Only downside is that it is a little bit expensive for a hostel but considering all the upsides it is quickly forgotten.

  • 5/5 Monika G. 2 years ago on Google
Different kind of hostel, the guys/girls which are working there are the best, doing everything to make you feel comfortable

  • 5/5 Thabeisha S. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing couple of days at Home Hostel. Provided good basic amenities; washrooms were clean, bed and room was comfortable and clean, staff were amazing. The set up of the hostel is good, there is a common area which is separate from the beds. And all the walls are sound proof enough that you can easily fall asleep no matter what is going on in the common areas. Aside from this the hostel really thought about solo travellers needs and delivered. There was ledges at every bed to store small personal items (phone, chargers etc). All the drawers had lights in them, so when you opened for your stuff you can actually see inside. There was a vanity area in the washroom, which provided good lighting to get ready. Overall I had an amazing stay. I met great people at the hostel and made lasting memories in Lisbon. Thank you Home Hostel Lisbon for providing a warm first experiencing to solo travelling and the hostel life!

This hostel has such a cool vibe, amazing staff, and is located in a great location. They have organized dinners, walking tours, and even bar crawls which all are a great way to meet new people. Stayed here for three nights and would easily have stayed longer. 10/10 would recommend it!!!

Beat hostel you could ever hope to stay at. There is nothing that needs to he improved. This is the nicest place I have ever stayed. If you come to Lisbon for any reason, stay here. Family dinners every night, the kindest staff, impeccably clean, so well laid out, amazing location, simply stunning.

Comfortable, well located and good value for money. The service from the staff was great, very good humor and attention. Congratulations to Gabriela, very friendly. Breakfast at 5 euros very satisfactory. I was able to leave my bags in the lockers while enjoying the city. Note 10, I want to come back!

Amazing hostel. Team were great, so friendly and very helpful. Met some great people here. Ideal if you want to stay somewhere with good social vibe. Location, facilities etc were all better than expected.

  • 5/5 Brian H. 1 year ago on Google
The best hostel experience I have ever had. Friendly people everywhere in this hostel: travelers, workers, and, of course, Momma. Momma’s dinner is not to be missed. It’s a excellent and fun opportunity to meet your fellow travelers and celebrate living in Lisbon. The only minus of Home Hostel was the staff organized pub crawl: the people were excellent, but the bars and clubs we went to were empty and low quality. If you want to experience the best nightlife Lisbon has to offer, consider organizing your own night out instead.

I absolutely loved this place! I booked a private room as I had a long flight from Australia. Have met some lovely travellers here, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Mama's dinner was also a plus, with most of the hostel attending (it seemed) and what a fantastic way to meet other people. Has a bar and lounge area also and the breakfasts were so good!

  • 5/5 Ted H. 1 year ago on Google
I really enjoyed staying at Home hostel. It's an extremely social hostel but not incredibly rowdy which is nice. The communal dinners and breakfast meals have been a great way of meeting people. Would definitely recommend people stay here if they want a decently chill place to stay while visiting Lisbon.

I have visited this place long time ago, but i would definitely come back! Amazing and helpful staff! Their tours were just so great and the guides as well. Location is great. Loved it!

If you come to Lisbon and don't stay here you are missing out on a truly unique and incredible experience. Between the breakfast buffet, Mama's family dinners, and the bar at reception, you will be blessed with getting to know incredible people from all over the world. €15 gets you a great dinner with generous helpings and as much beer or wine as you can drink. All while sitting with everyone from the hostel at one big table! I will forever cherish the memories I made at this place and know that someday soon I will return to Lisbon so that I may experience Home again!

Nice place. Nice rooms. Clean bathroom. Good social environment lounge/bar area. Not a place for good sleep obviously with it being a hostel. Staff interaction was lacking for me. No tours other than a walking tour. No game night etc etc. Staff stood behind the desk and were quite busy so can't expect anything there. Just would be nice if there was a touch of interaction other than their job.

I Loved staying in this Hostel so much the first time I booked again ! The hostel is in a great location, near public transport , plenty of places to eat, & most importantly the beds are comfortable! But what makes this hostel is the staff when I first checked in I felt instantly at ease! I was told to put my cases down and given a glass of water, and it felt like a safe space I could relax & de -stress this hostel truly is like a second home. The staff are so helpful this hostel has a 24hours reception and all staff go above & beyond ! An especial big thanks to Alex who truly is a credit to the Home hostel team !! He truly made my stay amazing from finding me & extra pillow at 3am so I could sleep at night , Honestly the best night worker ever !! He also recommended places to go clubbing in Lisbon that are still open after 2am, and made sure every drunk person got in safe & had water ! THANKYOU HOME HOSTEL

This is the best place I’ve ever stayed at! The staff is very competent and friendly and they really make you feel welcome. The place is so clean (including the bathrooms). It also has a lounge with a television and some games. The building itself is gorgeous and is walking distance to all the sites, the location is so perfect! Mama’s dinner was very wholesome and really felt like a family dinner. The walking tour was excellent as well, very informative and enjoyable. I could not recommend this place enough! There is not a single negative thing about the place.
