Let me give you an honest review, as I see many seem to avoid mentioning some important things which make me think either most people don't bother with reviews, most were before Covid, or some are just scam reviews. The good: - most of the staff are friendly & helpful - they clean well, on a daily basis - the location is good, albeit noisy at night, but that is to be expected - It has all the basics you would expect The bad: - 3-story beds... - hostel is small, the room I was in was very narrow as was the corridor, and it's very easy to hear noise past the walls and doors. Not much space to access the heavy-to-move floor-sliding lockers under the beds or do anything really due to the small space - the bathrooms are really spartan... There is no place to even put down belongings... Hot water seems to stop unexpectedly while showering and there are barely any rugs to avoid slipping. The wood in the only private bathroom is really rotting away which makes me believe they are saving money on appears to be an old hostel. - The hostel provides laundry service, but I fail to see why if it's not done professionally... The first time I used the service, the clothes did not smell clean at all. In both times I used the service, my clothes were returned partly wet... Why? I thought the first time was just an inexperienced employee, but the 2nd was clearly a different one. - common room (salon) is unengaging. You would expect common areas to be a place to meet people - but not so here. There is a general atmosphere most times like people want to be left alone, rather than interact with others. The "social events" are really quite poor, other than, perhaps, the sangria night where I noticed people truly interacting. From having spoken to people who have been at other hostels, this seems to be a common impression, and different from most other hostels. - I was disrespected and made to feel very unwelcome by one of the receptionists, who would avoid any and all eye contact at times while passing by me and even remarking "oh you're still here?" as though it was a joke... After complaining about it, the only thing she was truly worried about was if I would report this to her boss, and after being laughed at at my face and spoken to in a cold, condescending, avoidant manner, when angrily returning the key and checking out I was told I am being disrespectful and that if I don't leave she will call the police (seriously?)... Does that seem like normal attitude? Is this a Portuguese thing, to act so passive aggressive? Mind you, this was the same receptionist who personally told me that Portuguese are not nice people. I was never, ever, in my life treated this way before, and have always been respectful to staff, never intentionally disrespectful unless disrespected first. I guess you get what you pay for. This hostel is cheap.

The location is really nice and the kitchen/ lounge room are pretty good. But it's so noisy. Not just the sound outside, but you can hear every word being said in the lounge from every bed in the hostel. I'm also really not a fan of the triple bunk beds

friendly staff, clean and a cool place for meeting new people. When you step outside youre right at a great viewpoint of the city and really close to a bunch of bars and restaurants! Bunk beds have three levels (!) so it can get quite hot, especially for stays in hot summer periods. Adding ventilators to the rooms would be nice!

This was my favorite hostel that I stayed in. The staff is extremely friendly and I had great conversations with all the guests. There is a very convivial atmosphere. I stayed there with my two kids and they were accepted. The location is fantastic. Beautiful overlook across the street and right in the center of town with musuems, shops, cafes, the river... The rooms and bathrooms are basic and simple but clean. They have a nice shared space and kitchen.

We really, really enjoyed our stay. The staff is super super kind and approachable and the people coming there are really nice and open. It feels like visiting a friend of a friend’s place. The beds are cozy, there are chargers, you can store your luggage very easily (and also at a place after check-out) and the kitchen is nice. Only disadvantage was the not stable shower temperature, but that was totally worth the stay. Would really recommend the hostel to everyone. Thanks everyone so much! Cheers!

BEST HOSTEL IN LISBON The hostel itself feels like home. I felt so comfortable here, it’s amazing. Never experienced this anywhere else There’s free coffee and tea for you to take whenever you feel like it. The beds are incredibly comfortable, hard mattresses which are amazing for your back. Never woke up with pain on my back so that’s a big plus! The bathrooms are well equipped and super clean. After a day walking around the city, coming back to the hostel , it’s heaven. There’s a tiny balcony on the lounge which is my favorite place in the whole hostel. It really gives you the vibe of what Lisbon is all about. You can cook here, the kitchen is also clean and well equipped. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful!!!!

Great hostel! I lack words to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the people and staff who helped us, a family from Ukraine. It was our first few days in Lisbon and our stay in Lookout Lisbon! was very comfortable and pleasant. I am so glad the world still has such nice and friendly people. ❤️ Sofiia

Really nice friendly staff, great access to events such as walking tours, bar crawls, free hostel sangria etc. Only improvement I would suggest would be providing a cooked meal or breakfast 😊

What a great experience I had in Lookout Hostel, nice, cozy and well located youth hostel. Fabio and all his staff are involved in making your stay as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. I would recommend this place to any person looking for an hostel in Barrio Alto, and come back here whenever I get the chance. Thanks Fabio and all the best for your project ! 😁

I had an excellent time during my 4-night stay here. The Hostel’s location is prime, just across the street from a beautiful overlook of the city (pictured below). Every night, the staff organized something small such as free sangria or game night that brought the Hostel’s occupants together. The breakfast was very good. Also, I appreciated how small the hostel was as it allowed me to meet almost all the other guests staying there!

Very cozy hostel! It's September, still slow because of Covid. I encountered a very relaxed family vibe, a very charming building and a great view overlooking the viewpoint. There is a nice kitchen, a place to hang your clothes if you wash, and very friendly staff! The showers have no separation between the sinks, so there's a chance you might come out of the shower naked while people are there washing hands or brushing teeth, but it isn't a problem in my opinion.

I got to spend two nights in this lovely hostel after the first hostel refused me (because I couldn’t pay with card) And afterwords I’m happy about it. The Lookout in Lissabon is a great hostel and very well located! Nice&friendly people working there❤️ (One of them even offered to help me out with some cash because of my broken bankcard) And in generell there’s a good vibe in the house✌🏻 Good to know for cyclists that you can store your bike safely inside🚵🏻‍♂️ If I wasn’t on a low budget trip I would stay way longer than these two days👌🏻

MARAVILHOSO!!! One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. Tiene una vibra mágica - really made a home here for the past week. É difícil encontrar um hostal que tem tudo mas este hostel tem. Lovely staff, comfortable beds with curtains in clean rooms with windows, social friendly vibe, clean bathrooms including one private one, fully equipped kitchen, and a dope lounge area. Aneira, Andres, Soledad, Tibo, Nikki, Fabio muito obrigado por tudo- had the best natal with y’all and will definitely return when i come back to lisboa. abraços
