I wouldn’t recommend the stay unless you really on a budget. If you’re travelling during winter, the temperature in the room can get cold, especially at nights. Windows have seen their best time ages ago, you can hear literally everything that’s happening on the street at the moment. One of the lightbulbs was not working, bed table was dirty with something sticky, and cherry on the top - the fire alarm was spontaneously running 2 days in a row and there was no one from the staff to turn it off so it took a while until it went off itself. There was also a water shortage lasting few hours and as we had a shared bathroom with other rooms on that floor, bearing in mind we all hear a lot about COVID these days I find it quite weird there was no soap or anything to sanitise your hands in there. On the other hand, the only advantage that comes to my mind is the friendly and helpful staff.

Pros: very cheap, great location, and friendly staff. Cons: very old building, the showers in the rooms wore in poor state, the hose to the shower head was leaking a lot of water out the side making it very difficult to shower, uncomfortable bed, thin walls so you could hear everything, there is an Indian restaurant down stairs and the very small ally causes the smell of Indian food to fill your room.

The good: I can't imagine a more central location to explore Lisboa, either on foot or using public transport. The staff were very friendly and it was overall a great value for the price. The not so good: Room 104: The top of the window was glassless with just a thin sheet of chipboard loosely attached. This was most apparent when the garbage disposal truck came by around midnight... Then again you can't expect peace and quiet if you're in the middle of a lively city ;-)

Let's say it's one of a kind of an experience. Staff is friendly, location is good but very noisy. Have its own shabby chic charm. Bed is tiny, the matrace and the bedding is bad... Cleanliness is not very good.

The bathroom looks like the set of a horror movie (there was even a blood stain on the shower curtain). It came with a complimentary set of spiders that were living their best life in the tub, no ac so you have to leave the window open which lets in the smell and noise from the Indian restaurant downstairs. Ok for one night cause it's very cheap, but jesus

Unprofessional and unreliable. We booked and paid one room with private bathroom two months in advance, and two days before our supposed stay, we received an email stating our booking was cancelled by the hotel. No explanation was given even thought we tried to ask. We are still waiting for our money.

Rooms are basic and have definately seen better times. You could hear noise from the corridor (also the room service didn't care to be loud in the morning). Location is great, but other than that, there's not much good to say.

Norte Guest House is very conveniently located in downtown Lisbon, Portugal. This place is a no frills, simple hotel without anything approaching luxury, but the rooms, some with small private baths, do have hot water and showers. Otherwise there is a clean communal bath on each floor with toilets and showers.

Great value and very good position. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are old with ugly furniture, so don't expect much. Still: great choice!

No fan, no aircon. Extremely loud road traffic right in front of the window. Exactly 1 socket in the room. Shower tray tiny, old & dirty. No shower gel or shampoo. Toilet makes horrendous sounds 24/7. Furniture and shelves old and wobbly. One of the worst places I've stayed at and I've been staying at many budget places before. Shame on you, Norte Guest House.

Cosy accommodation in the heart of Lisboa🇵🇹. 300 m near the "Elevator", 5 min walk to the Placa do Comercio

In this day of electronics for a room for 2 people 1 plug is no way enough! Very easy upgrade! Shower in the room was very old the shower pan was all chipped and scratched very poor condition! Heat in the room as it was cold first couple of nights there was no remote in the room to run the heat. Check in desk had remotes and charged €10 deposit and when we check out no one at the desk till 11:00 to get the deposit back we checked out at 09:00 Agggg! The floors in the hallways were rolled up and lifting throughout. It stated on the website stated 2* it is not even close. 0 frills rooms not even a TV, can’t use you phone or computer because only 1 plug in the room

I had a private room for two with bathroom. The door to the balcony was broken and un quite a bad state. There was only one plug that worked, t'ha WiFi was useless, I had to use my data. In the bathroom no soap, only a small sache of champoo for two people. A bit of noise in the street at night. People attending are nice. However, a bit expensive for what it was.

Location is good, workers and hotel management are also helpful. Rooms are clean, but like many people said, windows are old so even if u close the window, you hear a lot from the street. If u accept this reality (its very central for sure thats normal ) all may be cool. My problem is we booked from booking.com and the room was looking at yard. It was at the first floor and looking at the trash of the restaurant on the ground floor. And also because of the restaurant, it was smelling heavy and bad. Hotel helped little bit and we stayed on the 2. Floor, but the same room. So i was really unhappy with the option we had. It was kind of staying in a small room with no windows. Next day we switched the room to another room on the front facade on 4 th floor with a terrace and i can say that it was a good experince. I can recommend the hotel, but totally advice to ask about the room details, is it on the street or backyard. If u are already in the city, see the room, before u book it.

This hotel was amazing for our stay in Lisboa. The staff were the absolute best, I had injured my knee and needed an ice pack nightly after walking around the city, and they graciously allowed me to store my ice pack in their freezer and get it for me daily. We found the accomodation very clean and comfortable after walking around the city. And yes to the other reviewers, there is city noise, you are staying in a downtown hotel! But once the windows are closed it helps quite it down. Also, for the price and location, this is a great hotel. Highly recommend if you will be planning on spending more time explore the city and don't want to splurge on where you rest your head.

This is probably the worst 'hotel' that I have ever stayed in. BUT the price and location more than make up for that... air conditioning didn't work, asked them to fix it several times but it never got fixed- from speaking to other guests, I don't think the air con works in any of the rooms. It was too hot to sleep most nights. We stayed here for a week- which was hell by the end of the stay- but if it's just for a couple of nights then i'd probably recommend this place. Just don't expect to sleep much!

Perfect location, good value guest house. You will love it, if you don't expect luxury.

  • 4/5 Gunta B. 5 years ago on Google
The room was ok, but the floor was sloping. Only one power point to use for charging electronics. Shower was good and hot. Air con worked well. It was a very quiet room but in the mornings, there was noise in the hall (staff). The location is excellent. The staff, especially a young girl called Juanita at reception, was really kind and helpful.

Excellent location, good price, the shared toilet is handy and clean, and elevator. But no TV no kettle, no refrigerator, no A/C, yet spacious room with nice street window. Recommended but maybe not in heat summer (this is 161 Notre Guesthouse)

Small but clean rooms, helpful staff central location within stumbling range of a nice brewery

Great location and cheap too. The accommodation was located less than a 5 minute walk from the Rossio metro train station and bus stops. However rooms and facilities were very basic and walls were paper thin. I was woken up early in the morning on several occasions by other guests and also from the cleaners moving about outside.

The staff here is awesome! The actual room we were in was not particularly luxurious, but it was clean, and the location was great. this place is perfect for the budget traveler. Highly recommended!

Small, old, basic hotel, but clean, not expensive, excellent service with more than great location. Perfect for a short stay. Ask for a room with bathroom. I will come again.

Dirty stained sheets and a horrible smell. If we hadn't arrived so late we would have looked for another place. The pictures did not represent the room we got at all.

An awesome place right in the heart of the city. Everything conveniently located on foot. Super friendly staff always ready to help. Hooghly recommend. Super value for money

The traveler should be careful because this hotel would not provide the shower gel or the soap on the following days but only on the first day. (Maybe the traveler needs to book this hotel separately for each day, so every day is the first day) And if you need that you should pay for it. They didn't tell people this on their website or booking.com if I knew I wouldn't stay here. Also, I book a room for two adults, but they only give us one shower gel and one soap on the first day. That was really ridiculous and blowing-mind away. Also, our room’s up window was broken, the hotel just used a board to cover it, but it didn’t match. If your room is in front of the street, that would be awful; it’s so nosing that I can’t sleep well; I can hear every car drive past during midnights.

Good location in the centre, expecelly if you want to move around there are a lot bus stop and it's situate 5 minutes by walk from the station. Inside, very friendly staff and ready to answer for every question. Also the reception open 24h/24h and always with someone over there. I had a room in the second floor, it was cute but nothing of special. Just a bed, a chair, a wardrobe and a TV, the bad part was just one plug in all room. That was a bit annoying. My room had include also a toilet, unfortunately the toilet wasn't the best. Another negative part was the Wi-Fi. I came from another country, so for me was helpful use internet for collect information and plan the day. The Wi-Fi there was really slow and really really low. I had my internet but in front of my room there was a close building. Anyway the price was really cheap and

Nice location in the centre of Lisbon. The rooms are small and without air con, but clean and very much sufficient if you are just going to sleep there.

  • 3/5 Tyler J. 6 years ago on Google
Price was right. No toilet in room. Public one down the hall. Great location near Pink St. Would recommend if you need to save money and don't mind no frills.

  • 5/5 Jaime J. 5 years ago on Google
The location is awesome, it has supermarkets and different stores around. The hotel itself is good but old. For the price you paid is a very good option.

Cockroaches, all night long. Big ones and small ones.. we slept with lights on. Roomservice 'cleaned' the rooms once a day, but the cockroaches came back every night. After asking for a solution, the receptionists just said, they know the problem as if it was normal. Maybe it is common in lissabon but disgusting nevertheless. Rooms were old but ok, and the generall location of the hostel is good, as it is right in the center. But no recommendation for sure.
