There were bed bugs in the rooms of some of our friends who stayed, multiple people were covered in bites (arms, face, legs) and the staff wasn’t very helpful in helping her with the situation other than moving her room. She wasn’t offered a refund at all and there are no facilities to clean things properly after bed but exposure. We left on Sunday, but some friends of ours stayed there again on Sunday night and told us they put 4 new people in the bed bug room without having cleaned it properly. I tried to attach a photo with the bed bug bites, but Google said it violated their policy and wouldn’t allow it. Avoid this hostel unless you want to deal with similar problems!!!

!BED BUGS - RUN FROM THIS HOSTEL! I booked 5 nights in this hostel, The first night I started feeling some scratching on my body. I paid attention but thought it was the blanket that was scratching me. The second night I really couldn’t sleep so I switched on my phone light and discovered the bed bugs/ punaise de lit/ chinches. I have marks all over my body. This is a trauma you better not have, don’t come here if you want to avoid this situation! ¡THE MANAGER OF THE HOSTEL DOESN’T WANT TO RESPOND FOR THE SITUATION !

Super Super Nice People working at reception. The ladies & gentlemen working their open the two doors for me and greeted me with a nice welcome. They also took me to my room. The room had a big terrace door which opened at night with a nice breeze. On my second night the only guy in the room was being difficult as he wanted to close the terrace door saying he was cold & the noise outside bothered him. The night manager came and we wound up putting myself by the terrace and the other man far from the terrace. Thanks to the kind night manager it worked out perfect. You have much space for your chats with other travelers and space to do your computer work. A Big kitchen is available as well + Very Clean Bathrooms.

Rude staff upon arrival. Only provide one key for two people and have to ask for a second one. Toilet areas are not clean and very few bathrooms given the number of guests. One of the showers held together with sellotape. The blanket provided was disgusting.

Somewhat clean, hostel staff are unfriendly, arrogant, no privacy in the rooms, they enter the room without knocking on the door as if we live on the street, strange rules for kitchen opening times....I didn't like it

Some of the old reviewers were a bit concerning but need not have worried. Good location as it’s about 10 mins from a metro and buses. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The common area/kitchen has a nice vibe if you want to eat in and or chill out. Rooms are standard but for the price its a good deal. It’s a place to sleep while exploring and contrary to other old reviews the bedding was clean. Bathroom situation is good too. I found there were plenty to use but may depend on time of day. I had a good time staying here for 2 nights. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced place to keep your bags and sleep between exploring the city; this is recommended

The location is not very good, please! Not near Restauradores like in the photo! The rooms are not what the pictures show, the entrance is terrible and cleanliness and comfort is under any expectation. They put pictures with plants and says it's green. Staff like sheriff and really boring environment. I ve

Stayed here for 3 nights with 2 friends, we stayed in the detached building wish I regret badly! It is and old style building shared with other local residents about a 3 minute up hill walk from the actual hostel. It is a bit sketchy at night time a lot of dodgy looking blokes hanging around the place. As for the room well firstly to get to the room there is no elevator you have to climb 3 levels to get to the room. Rooms themselves aren’t all that but I suppose you get what you pay for! They are quite small but feel bigger because the ceiling is so high, which speaking of the bunk beds are very high off the ground to cater for the high ceiling so if you are on top and are short good luck! They squeak and shake a lot any slight movement from the person below or above you and you will be feeling it. Bedding- bedding is probably up there with the worst i’ve seen before we even got settled in my friends and I were staring at our bedding debating wether or not it was clean because it certainly didn’t look it so we opted to sleep in our clothes especially after seeing plenty of reviews about bed bugs! But in saying that we didn’t encounter any bed bugs I don’t know wether or nots its because we wore clothes im not entirely sure. Pillows were uncomfortable your head just goes straight through it and mattress’s weren’t all that either but I suppose you dont spend too much time in the room! Bathrooms-Toilets and showers were always cleaned every time I had to use one, a cleaner comes in everyday and cleans them they have a schedule book behind the door so you can see when it was last cleaned. Showers are so good probably the best shower I have ever used in a hostel by far! Bathroom is pretty spacious and plenty of hooks to hang clothes and towels from! A few things to note- -Have to pay €10 security fee for key card and that had to be in cash! - city tax can be paid by card -one of the staff members comes into your room unannounced no knocking of the door or calling out or anything every morning to make sure the aircon is off! We thought that was really and invasion of privacy as one time we were getting changed and he had done this everyday we stayed, and we thought it was odd as it was freezing cold and we had no reason to have it on!

The place is very nice, cleaning, bedrooms are big and nice, bathrooms are many and clean, and the common living room are super nice! Moreover, the staff is very nice! Thanks a lot. I recommend it!

Terrible experience! Bad communication, unclean stairs and room, no real sheets, dirty towel over the bed at our arrival, dirty pillow, mold in the room ceiling, biting invisible bugs. Totally over rated and showing pictures that do not correspond to the real place. Do not recommend at all.

The hostel has a good location and the staff is very friendly. The staff is very friendly! There was free coffee in the morning! However, since it‘s very cheap, expect the most basic kind of hostel. The room was a bit tiny for 6 people, the beds were old and noisy and they were shaking when I moved. The room had mold on the ceiling directly above my head which was not very nice. There were no real bedsheets. The bathrooms were okay but there were only 4 bathrooms for my side of the building. I can recomend the hostel if you want a very cheap stay and don‘t care about the state of the room. If you do like to have at least a bit of comfort, look for something else.

A very decent hostel! There was a communal kitchen and fridge available for cooking & storing food. I was traveling with 3 others and the 4 of us got a private room so it was great. The bathrooms were communal and a bit busy. Overall, things seemed clean and the staff were very very kind & helpful Be mindful you need to pay for towels & they’re not very nice so I would suggest bringing or buying your own!

Very expensive for a bed that they don't get the trouble to put curtains, decent lockers, shelves, more power sockets, etc. There aren't also shelves, etc. on the bathrooms. At least it's very clean and the staff is nice and friendly.

I got bedbugs here twice. The first time they switched my room and refunded me for only one of the two loads of laundry i had to do to remove the bugs. Then, for my third night, they switched my room again and I got bedbeds in the third bed. Should have left immediately after the first incident, but there was no where cheaper to stay. Overall hated my time in Lisbon because of this unfortunate experience, and they never refunded me after I sent two follow up emails begging for anything back after two bed bug cases. Be warned, they can't do anything to fix bed bugs except replace all of the mattresses. It's a hassle for sure.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The dorms and common areas were clean and well-maintained. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and sociable place to stay while exploring the city!

Amazing hostel. Great people working there, very helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are impecable. And they even give some snacks and muffins for breakfast, same as tea and coffee. Just superb

My sister and I had a great stay here! I have to mention that there was a receptionist lily who was so sweet and went above and beyond to help us (she even took us to an amazing bakery near by) the location of hostel is pretty central and the facilities are nice. One con is that the common areas close early so it’s not the most social/party hostel. I would recommend staying here just because of the staff and location.

I liked the hostel but unfortunately my belongs were stolen. Breakfast is not really a breakfast. It is a free coffee or tea. Starts a bit late from 8:30am.

  • 3/5 Kim H. 11 months ago on Google
Its ok. The staff is nice and location convenient. But there are a couple of things that are annoying: -not enough bathrooms and showers, there is always a line -mirrors only in some bathrooms. There is one in the hall that I was pointed to, I had to stand in front of it to do my makeup. -dirty floors in rooms and generally dirty bathrooms. The beds seemed clean. -breakfast is only packed crackers and packed "muffins" which are actually croissants.

Great location! Close to the center and the metro. But during our stay, the window was broken so we slept 2 nights in the cold. The bathroom was clean and private which is good for privacy.

Sharing from my life experience this is the worst and most unprofessional hostel I have seen. If you want to cheat yourself then you can come to this place. From their room service to the manager every single one is a very deceiving religious man they are basically extorting money from the people who come here to spend the night I have not found anyone here whose intentions are honest and dedicated to serving the people. Their business policy is very bad. I don't understand if a person has made a reservation with them and if that person can't come for some reason how can they take money from him? If you make a reservation to stay in a hostel or hotel and you cannot go to that hotel or hostel due to illness, who do you pay to that hostel or hotel? What will they charge you for? But my bad luck this hostel charged me 75 Euros. They will forcefully deduct money from you just for making a reservation. Even though I tried to contact them several times in person, they refused to pay 75 Euros. Fear did not communicate. You should be ashamed.

The hostel was oddly laid out. I was placed in a building that’s a bit of a walk from the main building. The room was fine despite a lot of mosquitoes. The kitchen area in the other building is small. And the bathrooms are quite small but I’m a tiny person so it was fine for me. The vibe of the whole place was totally off. I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about it but I would not recommend staying here. It’s ok for short stays but no more than 2 nights. Some of the other guests staying here were a little weird and kept staring at me so I was very uncomfortable, but that is not the fault of the hostel.

The hostel has a really great vibe! Some smaller things aren’t in perfect shape but the friendly staff and guests totally make up for that. I would definitely come back here.

Cheap hostel (paid 13 EUR for a room in a 4 people dorm). However, you get what pay for: - Poor hygiene in shared bathrooms - Poor implementation of COVID rules - Breakfast advertised is a joke - Uncomfortable rooms - Little to no service from staff Plus: - Communal room ideal to work in (good wifi)

I stayed less than 24 hours, but it seems the staff really paying attention to manage this place. Clean enough, spacious and organized common area. Only thing is the balcony of the room is quite smelly maybe because of how people put their wet clothes there. And I didn't find freezer in Kitchen(there is a fridge though).

  • 4/5 Lewis M. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty clean and well organised although perhaps rather short on WCs and showers. Great kitchen with many pieces of equipment and a generously proportioned refrigerator. Large spacious dorm rooms and helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast from 08.30 and evening meals offered at very competitive prices. Happy hour offers cheaper drinks too.

Rude staff. Not disclose where you actually sleep until you get there they send you up the road 5 min walk to a run down old building. Bathrooms never cleaned. Showed them photos of the dirtiness and the Indian manager still dispute that's its clean! Obviously a man with dirty standards!. Breakfast?? Packaged tiny muffin and a biscuit. Its a snack!! Written behind each dirm all the RULES. fine for changing bed, fine for late checkout, fine if you make noise. This is a prison for people to starve to death and want to escape asap. Do not recommend. Go to lisboa Central hostel literally round the corner for 5 star service and for a cheaper price! Here you will find only scammers.. many reviews say the same.

I stay for 4 nights, it was good. You have a nive kitchen and living room. Breakfast is free so you can have coffe, tea and pastries. There are not too much bathrooms so sometimes it gets busy, if you get up early like 7-8am it's all yours though haha

  • 5/5 Sofia A. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely vibe, friendly people, helpful staff, clean, bright, comfortable. Great place for first-timers. Luggage lockers in rooms, but bring your own own lock. Easy to meet people. Hostel hosts events and adventures every day/night. Note: no laundry facilities, but there is one nearby. Never too long a wait for bathroom/shower (visited in August.) Kitchen is a little crowded sometimes, but it’s a good opportunity to meet other guests. If you check in during shift change, you may need to be a little patient, but the reception area is comfortable and you can hang out on the patio, use the restrooms and wifi, or grab a coffee while you wait.

  • 1/5 sean f. 1 year ago on Google
One staff number was very rude. He refused to check our booking for 40 mins until his shift ended. The reception is not 24hrs as advertised as I was told to leave. I wasn't able to get tap water as the kitchen was closed but not for some. I was told to drink bathroom tap water by staff. Facilities were good but the customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. I would recommend to stay somewhere else.

  • 5/5 Eugenio H. 2 years ago on Google
Easily one of the best options when it comes to hostels in that area. The service is good, people are very friendly they do their best to keep things organized and also quiet at night. Even other customers told me they had a much better time in it, if compared to others in Lisbon. The location is great, It's just a block from the Marques do Pombal metro station, 1km from city center and about 25 mins walking from the Sodré Harbor, which you can easily take a very cheap uber, and totally recommend going from 5pm on. If you wanna buy food the closest market is 1 block away, and they're even in front of a local delivery service that works only online. I DEFINITELY recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Out of all the hostels i stayed in this was the worst experience ever. I tried to enter the hostel at 1 am, but the card didn't work, I tried ringing and calling, but no one answered or opened the door. I stood in front of the hostel for a good 45 minutes without a cell phone charger in a city I don't know. On their website, it says that the reception is open 24 hours a day, but apparently it is not. After 45 minutes of standing in front of the hostel, I decided to find the nearest hotel where I could sleep to avoid staying on the road all night. The next morning, when I told them about my situation, they said there was nothing they could do.

Good vibes with good kitchen, rooms at road side so you would be blasted with full road boise at night and toilet is okay we paid 14 on august 2021.

  • 1/5 MOHCINE F. 6 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
it was a bad experience in this hostel and especially in the new building which has the least price, after a long tourist day you come to sleep and relax but people are snoring, and one person arrives late at night and starts to his stuff, keeping you from sleeping, and another person wakes up at 6 a.m. and starts making noise A young man was in the bed above me, moving a lot and moving me with him, coming late at night, everyone in the room woke up by its noise repeated every day during the 4 nights I stayed there. I had to rest at night from the fatigue of the day and wake up early to be able to enjoy a tourist day, but unfortunately I didn't sleep for 4 nights because of the severity of the noise of these people in short I will never return to a hostel  whatever its type, I would prefer to pay a sum of money in a private room in order to buy my comfort, because I travel to rest from the fatigue of work and daily life, until I was surprised by increasing fatigue and this enormous inconvenience. The only strong point was the workers. Frankly, they were very respectful and very well treated. Other than that, it was a very bad experience for me.

I really want to praise the excellent service and attention to detail at Urban Garden Hostel. Everything during my stay was well-planned, from the cleanliness of the place to the thoughtful actions of the staff. It made a real difference for me.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home. The common areas were spotless, and the dorms were not only clean but surprisingly spacious. The beds were comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep.
