KONG was more than just a meal - it was an experience. It was very hard to tell that the meals were fully vegan. As a vegetarian/vegan of over 9 years, I was momentarily worried! The food was that realistic (and good)! I had my first vegan “octopus” here and my partner had the Japanese Bowl with a “boiled egg” that was the first vegan “egg” thing I’ve tasted that actually tasted like egg. The desserts were absolutely incredible as well. The Snickers tart tasted like what a real, raw snickers should taste like, and the weekly cheesecake (mixed berry) was delightful. We also got a regenerative and organic bottle of wine to share for 14€ (bottles of wine start at 9€) We left with full bellies and full hearts. Thanks, team KONG!

The cheese sandwich was filling: bread, melted vegan cheese, mushrooms, tofu, topped in sauce, served with good fries. I've also had the cauliflower wings (good and crispy) and the fabulous Oreo mousse - it’s so light! A well-priced Dish of the Day is offered on weekdays, as well as a combination deal of soup or salad, Dish of the Day and Oreo mousse for dessert. Good service.

“Food made with compassion” appeals to the Ahimsa in me & to us vegan-for-the-animals folks. The food matches up to the moral ambition! We had such a great dining experience at Kong. We visited Lisbon for a week & tried to dine at as many vegan restaurants there while possible. I think Kong is tied for our favorite. The skewer appetizer was downright perfect & is mouthwatering to even remember - it was THAT good - the veggie burger & fries as well as the seitan steak/vegan egg dish was so well thought out & satisfying that we kept remarking how tasty the dishes were. The pics don’t do it justice, the food was amazing. Our server was super chill & friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed & slow for a weekday afternoon. When we come back to Lisbon, we will be back at Kong surely!

Best Vegan food I’ve had in a long while. Excellent menu which highlights Portuguese traditional dishes. I got the cauliflower to start with some green wine as well as the octopus dish. Amazing! Flavorful and served HOT. Great atmosphere too and very friendly staff. Outlets at every table too if you need to charge up ;)

We felt right at home. Not only was the food incredible - amazing flavour combinations beautifully presented and full with love to detail. Also the ambiance of the place gave our hearts a lift. The owner who’s also the chef had time to tell us more about his creations and ingredients and gave us the feeling that we’re friends even though we came in for the first time. We came back the next night of course 😍 The bruschetta was the one that knocked me out completely and you can’t go wrong with a dessert 🥳

What a gem!! Love this vegan restaurant 💚 The cauliflower bbq wings were amazing and was perfectly crispy on the outside. The fish + tomatoes and bean rice + salad was so flavorful. I especially enjoyed the rice! The burger was also quite tasty. We enjoyed our meal with red wine. The nutella cake and coffee was a perfect way to end our night. Everything we had was delicious. The ambiance is nice and cozy. The service was great. Although I liked that they gave us space to enjoy our meal, it meant that we needed to wave them over when we needed something. The prices are very reasonable...our entire meal was 45 euros! Can't beat that. They've definitely got a great thing going here. We will return the next time we visit!

The quality of the food is just great. Freshly made, tasty, and innovative. Not the usual vegan! Well decorated, the place is casual, cozy and welcoming. The service is not only very kind, but professional too. The king burger I had blew me away. I challenge any meat eater to find the difference. It was the first time, but certainly not the last. Highly recommended!!!

My non vegan friend was pleasantly surprised when she tried the francesinha, she thought it was amazing. The gravy is spot on. As for the other dishes obviously it's all veggies. The octopus is a mushroom cut to look like one. The fish dish was also not bad, the texture is like a smooth fish but softer. The deserts were sublime. We enjoyed every single dish. This place is great for everybody.

Super tasty vegan restaurant, near the high streets of Lisbon. The decor is modern with chill music. The staff is really nice and available. I had an exquisite vegan beetroot risotto. For dessert I tasted their vegan chocolate, one of the best I had so far, smooth perfect texture and still tasty. I will come back for sure. There are also aware and cautious of waste and eco-friendly.

(Translated by Google) The food we chose was very very tasty, super well prepared, the place, the hours and the staff very close and welcoming. Food, presentation, quantity ... very very good There is francesinha tipical portuguese food. In short, a must-see restaurant if you go through Lisbon as you will taste everything the earth has to offer with a flavor that you have never tasted without touching an animal and at the same time helping the planet in every way. (Original) La comida que elegimos estaba muy muy rica, super bien preparada, el sitio, los horarios y el personal muy cercano y acogedor. Just wow, I had great expectations and they were surpassed. Vegan fish and chips was not your run of the mill tofu, instead it was celery root with nori and a super crunchy batter, this made it slightly flaky like fish for an extra wow. Bitoque was also great with a nice seitan steak with a mustard sauce and an amazing fake sunny side up egg, with kala namak and a surprising secret ingredient we couldn't guess 😅 The dessert did not disappoint either, Sneakers pie with a very balanced amount of sugar and sweetness. Just a perfect after lunch sweet tooth pleaser.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The waiter was so incredibly friendly and the food was just excellent, plenty and delicious. Loved every second of it! None stop good vibes from the people working here and everything was explained when we asked for it. Everything was so tasty, but those croquettes were just the absolute best.

We came twice, because the food is just so amazing. For us, the best vegan food in town. The meals are creative, freshly made and the service is very friendly. You should definitely try the croquettes as starter.

We loved it! I have been there in a group of four and I am the only vegan. The others open to try everything and turned into fans as well! We had the cauliflower wings, croquettes and the happy octopus as mains. The deserts exceeded our expectations. The Parfait was super delicious combing soft texture, sweetness of chocolate, acidity from the mango ice and crunch through cookie. The cheese cake with fruits was incredible delicious. We had a great time with awesome food and adorable attentive service!

Can't recommend this place enough. The previous reviews don't lie!! This place is amazing. First of all the service. The young guy serving on the evening of 19/05 was incredible. He was serving mostly on his own (with a little help here and there) and he was the king of multi tasking. Very efficient, and friendly also! Then, the food. It came out so quickly! Don't know how they did that as the restaurant was full. I had the croquettes for starter (massive portion, share this if you can!) And the seitan steak. Both DELICIOUS! 😋 Was too full for dessert but hoping to come back soon to try dessert also. First night ever in Portugal for me and this place made me so happy 💚 Super good value for money also, it's quite cheap actually in my opinion!

This vegan restaurant is a hidden gem in the middle of Lisbon. Delicious Portuguese food with a vegan twist. The flavours and textures of our food were spot on. The tacos had three different flavour combinations, of which I thought the avocado bean could have used a little something extra. Otherwise, the dish was delicious. The burger meal had a lovely dip, the burger steak was really "meaty" and the fries were deliciously crispy. For dessert, we had the cheesecake, which was surprisingly berry-y but a good whole. We have been to this restaurant before and will be back again. The restaurant is not a fine dining restaurant but is great for a casual dinner or lunch. Highly recommended!

By now, we have visited the place more than three times, which means it is absolutely amazing. It offers a variety of dishes and everything is so yummy! We also loved their mango lassis served with a few cardamon seeds on top - this adds an amazing flavor to it! Also, extremely friendly staff! Thanks to them! We highly recommend the place!

Kong is one of the best vegan restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of visiting while travelling. Their menu puts a spotlight on traditional Portuguese cuisine that you may have missed out on trying if you’re vegan or vegetarian (and apparently this stuff tastes like the real deal!) I tried the Bitoque and the Fish and Rice, both of which were incredible and filling. To top it off the staff is attentive and pleasant and the atmosphere is down to earth and inviting. I’ll be dreaming of this food until I return!

We came twice and we tried different dishes, we absolutely loved everything, franscesinha was insane, it’s highly recommended, botique (steak) was also fantastic! The texture and taste of the steak was mind blowing, polvo feliz is full of flavour and really good for people that want to try typical portuguese food (all these 3 are), cauliflower wings and croquetes were also amazing, one of the best vegan food restaurants in Lisbon, btw the staff was so nice too, thank you very much!

Fabulous! Lovely people serving amazing vegan food at very reasonable prices. Struggled to fit a third course in but we couldn't resist. We had skewers, croquettes, tacos, happy octopus, Oreo mousse and parfait and it was all delicious. Would definitely recommend for a chilled out vibe and great food and drinks.

Ok, all these ratings are real. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. The Francesinha is a must, no one could tell this is vegan, they nailed it, also a special mention to the lemonade with wild berries, so good!

They have a great selection of dishes on the menu. We started with the croquettes which were really tasty, they had a nice crunch to them and a nice flavorful inside. The sauce went well with it but could've been a bit more in quantity. As main dish we went for the Fish and Rice, the rice was really outstanding. It was very creamy and had a nice fruity tomato taste. The fish was good but was mostly crust and needed a bit more flavor so the sauce that came with it accompanied it well. The tacos came with three different fillings, the guacamole was our favorite as it had a lot of filling. The others were good as well but had less filling and were missing a bit of sauce. Unfortunately the taco shells taste a tiny bit stale. The highlight of the food was the dessert, the snickers cake is to die for and was absolutely delicious. Would come back only for that.

Meal was amazing! Service was incredibly friendly, fast, and accurate. Would 100% recommend! Also, they are no longer cash only, and accept cards. However, I do not recommend the cheesecake for dessert; it is very grainy.

Came here with my mom in a rainy day. We were the only table in the restaurant. We waited 30 minutes just to get a room temperature soup. Then, after 10 minutes our starter (nuggets) arrived too, but it was frozen inside. In that point we decided to leave. I can just say that the waitress was super nice and persisted we will not pay for anything. Too bad.

  • 2/5 Mark D. 4 years ago on Google
Vegan food woo hoo... Had the seitan steak with wild mushroom sauce and fries, fries were nice. Mushroom sauce was lovely and creamy too, the steak however, was not good. Did you ever have pork chips as a kid and they had that fat on them that was soft and squidgy, well imagine that only with zero flavour and you have a pretty good idea of what the steak was like. Cheesecake dessert was OK and the lemonade was nice. The service was also not great, our waitress didn't have a notepad and everything took a very long time considering there were only 3 tables that were occupied. Oh and its a cash place, they don't accept visa.

  • 4/5 Isabella H. 4 years ago on Google
We only stopped here for a sweet tooth fix. The chocolate cake was really good, fudgy and the vegan chantilly cream was a good accompaniment. Would have definitively added more strawberries as a recommendation as the cake is quite reach.

I’m so glad I found this restaurant through the Happy Cow app! Simply amazing! Let’s start off with the service as that’s equally as important as the food... The minute you walk in your greeted by friendly, amazing staff who make you feel right at home. The service was fantastic during my whole time I was in the restaurant. They also have a lovely atmosphere with tasteful decor. I started off with an Apple Cider and the Spicy Cheese Dumplings. Both were great! They serve the apple cider with freshly diced apples in the glass and a slice of lemon - nice touch and it did great adding just that bit more flavour! The Spicy Cheese Dumplings were delicious! Crispy & crunchy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. Really lovely flavours. If your looking for some comfort food then order these! For the main course I tried the Kong burger with bacon and the beyond burger patty. Loved it!! It came with just the right toppings and a good portion of them as well. The bacon was a nice touch and gave it a gentle smoky flavour. Well balanced burger. It also came with fries and to my surprise they were not only freshly cut but they were also nice and thin! Very tasty and cooked just perfect! For desert I ordered the chocolate cake and wow....this was one of the best I’ve ever had! Not only is the cake perfectly baked with delicious nuts but they put this warm chocolate sauce on top which was crazy good - fantastic balance!! I couldn’t help myself and I also ordered the tapioca cake for take away which I have not eaten yet but I can’t wait to try it - it looks just as good as the chocolate cake. If you’ve never eaten here or are just browsing - definitely come here! The food, the service and the atmosphere is amazing!

One of my favorite restaurants in Lisbon. The "fish and chips" never fails to surprise me every time I order it, and the last time I went there I ordered "tomato rice with fried fish", it felt just like comfort food! It was delicious. Decided on the Veggie Burger, as I really was craving a good one. However, when I went there the electricity was out and for the most part restaurant was closed. Nevertheless, they were able to assist and serve me their burger; which I had read massive reviews about. As much as they were EXTREMELY nice to cook me the burger, it was only a Frozen patty from Beyond Burger; which they charged 10 Euros Not something I was hoping for considering the price of the burger and being that it was a restaurant. Over-all, the staff were great and they did go “Beyond” the call of duty to assist in creating something that maybe wasn’t there’s, but was almost impossible given they had no electricity…

(Translated by Google) Very happy with having chosen this restaurant. I used the HappyCow website to search for vegetarian and vegan restaurants and this one caught my eye. I was able to reserve a table by phone without problem and even when we got there there were free tables. The food offer was really good (all vegan, comfortable and drink). The waiter was also very kind to us and recommended the dishes of the day. Both the food and the drink were soon on the table and I was quite surprised by the flavors of each dish (I'm not vegan, but we decided to go there as one person in our group was a vegetarian). I recommend the risotto, the fruit smoothies and also the Oreo / Chocolate Mousse dessert. It looks small but it is quite dense. In general, I highly recommend it, and that it is also very close to Praça do Comércio, in the heart of Lisbon.

SO AMAZING! First of all service is just awesome! I seriously have been hunting the best burger in Lisbon, and yes, this is the one! It’s so amazingly good! Everything was delicious! I will be back for sure!

Really great atmosphere and service. The beyond burger was delicious.

The eggplant cannelloni, bacon cheese mushrooms, and nuggets, were so on point! In terms of flavors, presentation, and selection, Kong Hit it out of the park!

This is an amazing vegan spot. It’s quite small so I think it’s better to make a reservation. I don’t know how they do it, but the vegan fried fish really tasted and looked like a fish. Also loved the tomato rice. A nice side salad with pesto. Great fries. The sangria was a but too sweet for my taste. The francesinha was quite good, but I would not order it again. Croquettes were delish. You can pay with card. Overall very recommended.

Amazing food for vegans!!! This restaurant has a nice and creative menu and everything that we tried was absolutely delicious! From the mushrooms with vegan bacon and mozzarella to the vegan fish with tomato rice and wonderful cheesecake, it was just a delight!! The staff was also really nice and helpful! Top place!!

Some of the nicest vegan food in Lisbon. Fully vegan little place with very generous portions (check pictures) and a real taste of traditional Brazilian food. Dish of the day is €7.5, so we get the feijoada on a Wednesday. Three different types of pork style seitan with the beans as well as fried banana cooked perfectly 👍🏼🇧🇷

I’ve been here 2 times during my stay in Lisbon. I loved it! A lot of choice, everything tastes so good and the staff is very friendly.

Had the delicious mushroom appetizer which ( unfortunately) is served with a really sweet sauce. Homemade burger was substantial but no mistakening this for a burger. I’d go the beyond route instead. The accompanying mustard is flavorless & gritty. Decent alentejo jammy wine by the glass. Not bad but not eager to return. Couldn’t taste any compassion today. Maybe an off night. Wish the menu or waiter could have explained when asked what went into each dish! Waiter nicely put our table outside on the sidewalk when we asked. Have opinions; Will share

Very good traditional Portugese food- all vegan (there are also burgers of course). Starters and dessert are also very good and the selection of drinks is great (homemade lemonades!). Prices are very fair, especially given the central location. The owner is an absolute legend and makes you feel very welcome (he also speaks perfect English). Would definitely recommend.

Friendly waiter, food was delicious. Can't fault. We had the fish and chips, francesinha for mains. Both amazing. The cheese and sausage croquettes were sensational. Great portion sizes. All 100% vegan

The food here is DELICIOUS. I was especially drawn to the vegan versions of traditional Portuguese meals. The waiters and owner are incredibly kind. I am vegetarian and came with my vegan mother and 2 other family members who are meat eaters. Everyone loved the food and my mom said this was one of the best vegan meals she’s ever had, and I have to agree with her. I am so impressed and hope to visit again!

Traditional Portuguese dishes, but vegan! Truly delicious food, extremely tasty and very well cooked. Cozy atmosphere and excellent service! Try the Lagareiro "Octopus".

Very nice restaurant where we as vegans could really eat everything on the menue! Food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Clearly a recommendation- also for non-vegans to see themselves that vegan food can be amazing :)

Great place for vegan comfort food! Tasty takes on your favorites with pretty good prices. Friendly multilingual service. Your non-vegan friends will like it too!

Great service, the waiter is super nice. The “fish” tasted like real fish. Everything was really delicious. Especially the fries and the “sausage”.

Took a non vegan friend who lived it! Exceptional service, delicious food. Cool vibe. Good tunes. Giant gorilla decor. Food arrived quickly and brilliantly cooked. Definitely go again.

Fantastic place with alternative food. The staff offered us a place even without reservation and on a busy evening. The menu is not huge, but every meal sounds very interesting. We took two Portuguese specialities, and they were both supreme. The taste was simply fantastic. Same applies with the desserts. You can’t go wrong here!

Great place. Great food. Friendly people. It is tiny, so consider booking. Their website is accurate as to what the offer. 100% vegan. We started with croquettes and mushrooms. Mushroom octopus for main. This was brilliant, the mushroom had been marinated and it was really firm and super tasty, we loved it. Snickers tart to finish. My dining companion was a monster who could not wait to tuck into the tart. 3 course a la carte lunch for two people with 4 drinks 51 euros. They do a lunch offer based around a dish of the day. Go there. Eat. Be delighted.

I really enjoyed my experience here. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I had the soup, which was perfect, the croquettes and the francesinha. This would have been my only opportunity to try these Portuguese dishes as they are made normally with meat.

Excellent vegan food, I was really astonished how similar the dishes were to real meat. Do try the burger, it was really amazing. The Nutella cake was also delicious. Also the service was really nice, so overall a perfect evening!

Incredible vegan restaurant! All of us loved what we ordered and 3 of us weren’t vegan. I’ve never had a vegan egg look so realistic and taste so good! I’m glad I was able to experience traditional Portuguese food, may not be exactly the same but close enough. It is in a good location and service was great.

Amazing service from the team who went above and beyond, particularly the two guys that were serving. None of my group were vegan but this was the best meal we have had in Lisbon. Highly recommend this place and I hope to go back in the future.

I highly recommend this place! As far as I am concerned, this is the best vegan restaurant in Lisbon. The staff is not only extremely friendly, caring and forthcoming, but the dishes are really delicious and show how creative the owners are. We had a conversation with our waiter, which was really lovely and in the end we were told that the cheescake we ate and the coffee we drank were on the house. So all in all a great experience. We will definitely visit again and bring some friends along! :)

Such a pleasant experience! The spot is cute and the staff is friendly, and all the food we tried was really good, from starters to main dishes to deserts. I also appreciate them having a few Portuguese-style dishes, so that you can try something a bit more typical. I definitely recommend coming by, but be sure to reserve, it fills up quickly!

It was an experience. Very very good vegan restaurant. I would recommend it to everyone, vegan or not. It is another example that you don‘t need the meat industry or another product from animals. We had the Bruschetta and the Cauliflower Wings as starter with lemonades and then the happy octopus (best decision) and the japonese Bowl (first time i ate „egg“ since I am vegan). As dessert we chose the Oreo mousse and the cheesecake an two Cocktails. Everything was amazing, also the waiter were very friendly. Loved to be here and i will come again, when I‘m in Lisbon for the next time. <3

Probably one of the best vegan restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in! Great ethos, lovely staff, nice unassuming casual place and the most incredible inventive plant based take on Portuguese food. The happy octopus dish is inspired - who would have thought that a mushroom could look and have the texture of an octopus! Fantastic! Would HIGHLY recommend. Such a relief to find amazing plant based food in Lisbon!

I get Kong as takeaway a bit and it’s always great. Going to the restaurant was even better. Lovely staff. Really great food. My surprise favourite dish was actually the Bitoque with the vegan egg! Madness. The Francesinha and the Japanese bowl are also lovely. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great central restaurant, open all day but worth booking as was full both times we ate there (lunch and dinner on different days). The 'steak' with the vegan 'egg' was my favourite of the dishes and the vegan francesca probably my partners - and the croquettes! But they were all great. Very reasonably priced - we had a filling meal with wine and coffee for around £45. (Very nice wine too). Good atmosphere and service.

I was lucky to have chosen this place to have dinner as the food was incredible! Nice plating and quick service! Perfectly located downtown, this restaurant is led by a young lady who is very friendly, knows English and who created a nice atmosphere taking into account an artificial dividing wall between the bathrooms and the closest table. Yet, as the door was to the bathroom was not always closed, the air purifier they chose to put up spread a warm and rich scent that made my stay most pleasant, as such details matter much to me. The food was very delicious (imitation of egg: brilliant!). Yet one dessert (Snickers cake) contained a hard fudge that was tough to eat, but a very nice idea to imitate common cakes.

Very friendly staff. Explained the menu to us and recommended some dishes. Everything taste amazing, but the dessert was the absolute best! The Oreo cream was so good!

We tried 4 different vegan restaurants while on our holiday in Lisbon rated 4.5 and above . Kong is by far the best place of them all? We liked it so much that we visited it twice during our trip.

Great food and friendly staff! We really enjoyed this place. The menu offers traditional Portuguese food made vegan. The desserts are great! Also the price is very honest

This 100% vegan restaurant is amazing, i’ve been there 2 times during my stay in Lisbon. The food is DELICIOUS and include some portuguese classics. Service is excellent, the owner is a sweetheart and will make sure everything is good while you’re there. Thank you Bruno, your restaurant is incredible and so was your welcome: ive had not only excellent foods but also wonderful moments 🙏

The restaurant is quite spacious and with very nice lighting and comfortable seats. Gave us the sensation of being in a friendly environment and you could see the recipes were created with love for the portuguese identity. The bitoque sauce was very close to the original bitoque. Its a perfect place if youre a vegetarian that is missing a nice traditional meat dish. It will comfort your stomach and soul without any guilt.

Amazing restaurant. The food was very tasty and the waiters very nice and helpful. All is plant based so it is even more surprising the textures and tastes of the food. We really enjoyed the place and recommend to anyone who is vegan or vegetarian or whoever wants to try it. Prices are very good. We will definitely come back. The wine was delicious.

I had an amazing dinner at Kong. Went to eat something on my own and felt super welcomed by the staff. There where a lot of original food options, loved the Portuguese cuisine options. Since they normally contain a lot of meat and cheese, it was nice to be able to try them! Service was quick, very attentive and the atmosphere was very nice. Prices are fair for what you get, good portions. Would defintely recommend!
