My favourite meal and the best seafood rice I ever had in Portugal and Spain! Please ignore the unpleasant comments about this restaurant and come! Each bit of the seafood rice is krabby and delicious. The price for each person is 15 euro. The only noticeable thing is you can only order seafood rice and drinks, and the seafood rice is served based on the number of visitors.

Cash only. Once you ordered your portion of seafood rice stew, the restaurant started to cook. It took 45 mins waiting time. The seafood rice was delicious! I love it. My friend went back to this restaurant even twice during the journey. Recommend it.

It was one of the unforgettable seafoods I have ever had in my life. I called it food from heaven. I'm not a big fan of seafood, but this seafood rice revealed today that i just have the very high standard when it comes to seafood. I almost ate the pot. Service and atmosphere were average, but the food was exceptionally superior. One thing I also was very impressive is that only the same person brings the seafood rice to the table with two hands holding it as if he is holding the holy Bible during religious ritual.

This is the first time we’ve been to this restaurant for this seafood rice. Unexpectedly delicious. I think four people should order for six. We found it so delicious that we were not satisfied. We will visit again, and this time we should order for six people. Their male staff were very attentive. Because we didn’t know they had two different entrances for two shops. It turns out the kitchen leads to both shops. I wanted to go to the restaurant on the left, they told me to go through the kitchen, but I ended up at another restaurant. It turns out it was the same restaurant; only then did I agree to go to the restaurant on the right. The seafood rice was very delicious, thumbs up. After the meal, a female staff member even offered us cherry wine. + Chanda👩🏻‍🍳Monja🧑🏻‍🍳

I would not recommended this scam restaurant to any one and avoid at all cost. In the first taste it was very good and tasty, but the seafood are not very fresh and you can tasty they are dead long time ago and taste like cardboard and the prawn meat are not fresh and tender nothing savoury. After you ate the seafood and the rice left in bowl like congee and taste bad. I dont know why people said it tastes like lobster sauce but i can only taste like tomato sauce with some crab flavour. The other thing is they serve the starter before the rice bowl like a set and those starter are extremely expensive and we dont ask for it and they will charge you the money. The worst thing is before we enter the restaurant i asked the boss do they accept card and he said yes. After we finished and ready to pay and the waitress said cash only and i have to go outside to use their ATM machine to withdraw money which is with the disgusting exchanging rate. I had been so many countries to travel most of it is Asia and this is the first time i came to Europe and met this scam restaurant which is i dont have met in Asia.

Jenifer, Thank You!!!! Delicious food and exceptional service!! The best waitress in Lisbon! Uma has the best service and exceptional food. I sat down and Jenifer said “we have one dish, would you like wine?” And obviously I got a bottle of Vino Verde! This was the most decadent seafood rice that I have had. From the clams to the muscles to the crab and the shrimp, absolutely AMAZING! The rice was cooked to perfection with a flavor of under the sea goodness!! If you are in Lisbon this is a definite must try!!

We waited for 45 min for the dish to be ready. There is only one dish they serve, which is delicious. The restaurant only accepts cash. However if customers insist to pay in ApplePay, they will arrange them to go to the shop in the neighbor to pay. The seafood is delicious and it is good for a dinner. The only drawback is a very loooooong wait time.

Uma restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience. The staff, especially Chanda, provides outstanding service, ensuring a memorable visit. The food is delicious, with a diverse menu to satisfy any palate. Chanda's attentiveness and professionalism truly elevate the dining experience. Uma is a must-visit for impeccable service and delectable cuisine.

You get what you pay for. More like a cafeteria for tourists. I run a restaurant before so I know what freshness means. Shrimps have been frozen for a while and not much taste. There is not much seafood taste in soup given that much of seafoods. Razor clams still sandy. They charge by person at 15.90 each. Cash only.

Overrated and overpriced. major tourist trap! They asked me if I want bread to which I said yes.. it was never mentioned it will be charged separately with €7.50! (most of the restaurants I went in Lisbon, bread is served complimentary) The portion of seafood rice for one person is too much and charged at €17.50! And they accept only cash! No cards! You will find much better places in Lisbon.

Not sure if we were over charged but food price was not at the window or menu was not given when asked. it was about 35 euros but google menu says 31. However, the food itself is good if you feel hungry. For the same price i had worse elsewhere so its worth the money i guess. When i say it is good i meant we finished the pot like in the picture kind of good. Not leaving a single piece of rice or sauce. But i don’t understand why it takes long to come out and the seafood is over cooked. Which is a shame as i can tell they are actually fresh. This restaurant was recommended by a youtube food review of other food review saying this one is recommended. So it must be good which did not disappoint. To be honest there is too many food traps in lisbon took us an hour finding an appropriate place given the budget lucky to have this one.

First off - there is only one item on the menu and it’s seafood rice stew. There’s wine and beer and other soft drinks but in terms of food, only one item. You can order in portions for one, two, three or four but it’s the same broth of rice with seafood. Secondly, I have never seen any European restaurant filled with Asians! Every table in there bar two, was occupied by Mainland Chinese, Hong Kong Chinese, Koreans and me. Incredible. The food is good. I am sure the3 razor clams and the 5 mussels were from live stock whilst the 2 shrimps were frozen. You also get half a crab in the one person pot. And unlike the risotto I have been served in the Balkans and Italy, this is thoroughly cooked rice not unlike Cantonese porridge. And it is flavourful from the seafood umami it managed to soak up. Total damage including a glass of rose and a bottle of sparkling water was euros 23.90 which is reasonable considering the amount of fresh seafood you get. But please note that they only accept cash payment. My conclusion - It may be a tourist diner but they sure serve a good pot of Arroz de Marisco! Strongly recommend for visitors to Lisbon.

A good meal where they serve you only one thing, a warm pot of delicious seafood stew and rice. If you don’t want it, don’t come! Seriously I think it’s the only thing they serve, no one took my order except for the wine. Service is curt but quick and efficient. Food is piping hot and they give you the size based on how many people are in your party. I had plenty to keep me full through the night, would recommend you come to check it out

We came to Uma for dinner, got there early and lucky got the seats without waiting. Our culinary exploration led us to order every dishes in the menu (there aren't too many choices anyway) – recommended the delectable cheese, the must-try chorizo, and the flavorful seafood rice pot. While the flavors impressed, I found the overall value lacking, especially at nearly 18 euros per person. For groups of 5, a seafood rice pot priced at 90 euros offers only a crab, shrimps, mussels, and squid, we had had better food elsewhere in Lisbon for the same money. The service at Uma is exceptional, yet the seating arrangement is cramped. Our experience with crab led to unintentional splashes on the neighboring table, prompting frequent apologies. Despite the enjoyable aspects, I'm inclined to explore alternative dining options in the future.

This seafood rice aka Arroz De Marisco was one the best dishes in Lisbon. Definitely a must try with their fried chorizo. Friendly staff and Chanda was exceptional, very attentive to our needs without us asking! Great value and deliciousness!

The seafood rice was so good and so affordable. I liked how they presumably only serve one signature dish at the cosy little restaurant. So much Umami in a pot! Piping hot dish perfect for the rainy Dec weather.

Came here for their seafood rice. They offer the rice based on how many people is eating. The one person portion still had lots of seafood and was flavorful. Price is reasonable given the location.

This is a no frill restaurant, all about the great flavor. I have tried different seafood rice/porridge before in different countries. I would think this is the best seafood rice I have ever had. There is generous amount of fresh seafood, such as giant jackknife clams, crabs, shrimps. They all taste so good. The guests of our next table come here two nights in a row. The service was prompt and servers were very nice. Eating them can be a bit messy, but if you care more about the flavor, this is the place you should go. I also like a lot the Portuguese Manna's sardine pate with bread! I just ordered two dozens of this online.

Not pretentious place with one main recipe, a big pot with rice, shellfish and seafood. Tasty and fresh food.. it's a touristic place but not in a bad way. The price is aligned with the proposal and cheap considering they're offering fish. Location is small and simple, service is kind but not more than that. I'd recommend the restaurant for one experience but I won't go there twice.

Had a good time here grabbing dinner with a friend on Wednesday night. We came in around 7:30 and got seated without a reservation. The food and wine are very good and reasonably priced. Our servers, Sorsa and Jeni, are very kind and we got complementary ginja at the end of the meal as well. They also gave us all the tools to eat the seafood and towelettes to clean our hands. Would recommend to everyone who want to try Portuguese seafood rice :)

I was disenchanted by the influencers recommendation after visiting here myself. Some reminder if Uma is happened to be on your check list, they don’t accept any other means of payment other than cash and they only serve one food which is the seafood rice stew base on the group size on the table, I saw single travelers came here to enjoy themselves with a smaller pot of seafood rice as well. Back to the seafood rice itself , portion is huge as we came in as group of four. Other than that , nothing else was impressive much. Although they serve a variety of different seafood such as clams , shrimps and crabs too, but you can tell the difference between fresh vs the frozen then cooked seafood , soup base was using tomato jam or ketchup, again, you can immediately taste the difference vs the fresh one and the soup was a bit salty too.

I am glad that I stopped by! This is a single dish restaurant, the seafood rice stew. I wasn’t sure if I should eat my dinner here. The lovely elderly gentleman was so nice, I stopped and chatted with him about 5 mins and suddenly realised, maybe I should give this dish a go. I’m glad that I did - what a wonderful rice stew with absolutely fresh exotic seafood. The entire team of staff is lovely. The humble affair of original Portugese dish in this simple and cozy restaurant was an experience to have! 🙏 To fellow solo travellers, unlike many sharing dishes restaurants, a solo person is welcomed and taken care of!

Rating: ★★★☆☆(3 out of 5 stars) Upon arriving in Lisbon and feeling famished, I stumbled upon Uma, a nearby restaurant that piqued my interest due to its unique concept of serving only one dish. I thought to myself, if they specialize in one dish, it must be exceptional. Entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming team. The staff members were pleasant and created a positive atmosphere throughout my visit. I proceeded to order the pot for two people, curious to see what awaited me. The preparation of the dish took some time, which indicated that everything was cooked fresh and not pre-prepared. When it arrived, the portion size was generous, and the pot itself was appealing. However, perhaps my expectations were set too high, as the overall culinary experience fell within the realm of "okay" rather than "outstanding." While the food was satisfactory, it didn't reach the level of excellence I anticipated. The flavors and execution were decent, but they didn't leave a lasting impression. However, it's important to note that the dining experience and ambiance contributed positively to my visit. Considering my experience at Uma, I personally wouldn't choose to return when I'm in Lisbon again. It felt like a one-time experience for me, primarily due to the average quality of the dish. However, I acknowledge that others might have different preferences and may enjoy the restaurant's unique approach more than I did. In conclusion, Uma offers a distinctive concept with a friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. While the culinary experience did not meet my high expectations, it was still enjoyable. If you're seeking a one-time dining adventure and are intrigued by the restaurant's singular dish concept, Uma might be worth a visit. However, if you're looking for an exceptional and memorable dining experience in Lisbon, there might be other options that better suit your preferences.

A must have when you visit Lisbon. Restaurant only has seafood rice on the menu but it's of superb quality. Before the main dish you will be served some bread with delicious cheese.

Huge portions. It’s an experience, for sure. Our mistake that we sat down and did not ask for the prices. Bread is 1€ each, sardine and tuna pâté were 1€ each, butter is also 1€, and the cheese is $4.50€. Add bottled water, at 2.50€ to your tab. The seafood rice for two was 35.80€. Holy moly! Our total was 47.80€, after 13% tax. Is it the best seafood rice in the world? Not by long shot. It’s quite the experience to eat, rubbing shoulders with other gullible folks like yourself!

After ordering the seafood stew, wait for about 35 minutes. Bread, meat sauce, and cheese are charged separately (you can choose to have it or not). Overall, the stew is delicious.

Very nice place. There is only one dish - seafood rice, and it is made perfectly for my taste, with a lot of seafood, a little bit spicy, good amount. The price is fair. There is a line to have a table, but it's not long. We were recommended it by a local guide, and recommend it as well.

So delicious and very reasonably priced. They only serve one dish here- the arroz de marisco. The dish was filled with tons of yummy seafood including crab, Razor clams, and shrimp.

  • 4/5 Tan Seet Y. 1 year ago on Google
The only menu they have is a wine menu. Wines are served only as half bottle or full bottle - so come with a friend or come and drink a lot. Expect only seafood rice as a meal. The server won’t even ask you how many portions or tell you upfront. They’ll just give you the seafood rice in a pot. For 2 pax, it was close to 32€. Lots of mussels, bamboo clams and lala clams. Some crab with only a little meat. The rice was savoury and tasty. They’ll serve starters - the most expensive I’ve seen. The tiny cheese is 3.9€, each bread is 1€ and each tiny paste is 1€. I’ve seen a review saying that the cheese is good and like German cheese. Others says that it’s not worth it. For me, I liked the saltiness of the cheese but it was a bit watery inside. Cash only. No wifi. Barely any mobile signal inside, so sit closer to the door. Small table size. Grandpa runs the show. We got a dinner reservation through phone. But the grandpa doesn’t seem to really pay attention to it. He seemed to give us the next available table.

  • 5/5 Andres T. 1 year ago on Google
This place is incredible. Its offer is sea food rice. Very flavorful. The quantity is very good compered to the price. You can not make a reservation, so you have to do a line to get in; however, is totally worth it. The only down part is that you only can pay with Cash, so be aware. Its a perfect place to have Lunch, so definetely stop by. You wont regret it

Offered lemon handkerchief and a sweet shot of Portuguese liqueur at the end of the meal. Very thoughtful. Forgot the umbrella and the lady staff made the effort to run out to give it back.
