Portugália Cervejaria Belém

Restaurant Portuguese restaurant

🫤 Place has a nice view and decent beer. The croquettes were bland and tasteless. The garlic shrimps were ok but a little high on salt. My biggest issue with this place is that they charge for the butter (each unit ) and bread (each). Not a big deal unless you realize what I'm about to describe. As so... People often mention good, restaurant, butter, great, view, bread, table, service, nice, seafood,

Place has a nice view and decent beer. The croquettes were bland and tasteless. The garlic shrimps were ok but a little high on salt. My biggest issue with this place is that they charge for the butter (each unit ) and bread (each). Not a big deal unless you realize what I'm about to describe. As soon as you seat on the table , you are already welcomed with a basket with 4 breads and 4 butters. Classic tourist trap move, right? Not only they bring it to the table without asking, but pretty sure a bunch of customers may assume it is complementary. Now, I did realize since the beginning and actually ended consuming 2 butter and 2 breads ( came handy for the salty shrimps). I was ready to fight over the bill expecting them to charge me for all for units of each. I can confirm they have intentionally left the basket on the table until we were done eating. My guess, hoping we will grab more bread and butter. BIG surprise when at the end the check came with only 2 breads and 2 butter. Where is the problem with this you may ask: either the restaurant is wasting half their bread and butter with each couple the seat in, or they are reusing the remaining units for the next customers (BIG NO NO , specially on COVID times) I really find hard to believe they will just throw away bread and butter customers don't get to consume. I walked around and saw several other tables with exactly the same situation. People pushing full baskets to the side, or just grabbing one unit. Not happy about this, as I feel I may have been serve recycled food. Easy way to stop this: just ask the customers if they want the bread and butter before bringing it to the table, and just bring as much as the customer are willing to consume/pay.

A delicious seafood restaurant with a great view of the monument where you can come and enjoy a proper meal and cold beverages with friends and family. Friendly service could use a bit more efficiency. Had to ask for some things twice. Available in English and Portuguese. Free wifi and bathrooms available for paying customers. Payments accepted with cash or card. They don’t answer the phone but usually have spots. Busy on Thursdays due to the 20% discount on seafood.

Nice restaurant to eat seafood. The service is quite fast. We came without reservation so we waited for about 40 mins. The price is reasonable. Recommended

I had an excellent meal of bread and prawn stew here in mid December, 2023. It was absolutely delicious and I would love to have the recipe! All the food I saw looked excellent and there were many groups dining here for holiday celebrations. Beautiful location. I recommend this restaurant.

Our experience was quietly disappointing. We ended up here because it was the closest restaurant that looked good. My boyfriend and I speak spanish but we preferred to speak english as we feel more confortable with. This detail has an importance because as soon as we seated the waiter came, speaking barely english, with 3 big fish (fresh but big). My boyfriend explained that he wanted to order Sardinas and that’s why we came here. The waiter replied « No we don’t have », we felt a bit disappointed but it’s normal for a fish restaurant to not have all the time every fish on the menu. But he didn’t let us the time to think, he was standing in front of us with the 3 fish waiting for us to say one. So feeling a bit force we accepted to choose one of those. It was tasty but we didn’t know how much we will have to pay since he didn’t say to us how much weight the fish was. So we choose to not take a dessert and just leave right after finishing. What a surprise on our way to leave to see on a table of portugese couple 2 dishes of sardinas (they came way after us). We truly think it’s because somehow they saw on us tourist people to scam. On the table we had olive oil, vinegar, bread and butter. But do not open or touch it, it’s not for free :) and obviously nobody take the time to say it before. Another advice, check your bill before paying because they wanted to charge us for bread and oil even if we didn’t touch it. I’m rating the experience and will not come back.

Great location that you can see amazing view in Belem especially at night. We had chicken and beef menu. Portugália sauce is very good. Ice cream with beer (special menu) was very good too. The staff who took care of our table was kind and caring. Overall pleasant and nice dinner experience.

Great restaurant, we were afraid it could be a tourist trap but fear not, the food is amazing and it was sensibly priced. Best bacalhao a bras I ever had. The staff is friendly and helpful, really recommended!

Excellent location right on the banks of the Tajo river. There was enough of space in the restaurant the two times we visited there. The restaurant's menu covered most of nice Portuguese dishes. There were good options for every taste. The food was beautifully laid out and very well prepared. The staff made us feel comfortable. The price corresponded well to the quality. Forget the busy tourist restaurants in the center and head here. A highly recommendable restaurant

The food was disappointing: both dishes were luke warm. The soup was not seasoned and cod A Bras was not fresh. Beer and olives were good. The service was nice and the views are hard to beat.

This place is an absolute gem. They serve a Portuguese affair. It's located down by the seawall facing the Mariner's Monument. The food is great but also amazingly affordable! You can get a full meal for less than 20 euros!!!

We at at their other branch in the city on our first day, and here on our second, our best meal so far. If you’re a tourist and want to experience traditional Portuguese, come have the steak, experience the seafood at prices you could only dream of in the UK. This one is fancier in appearance and service style, the other feels very traditional. Take it for what it is, and you’ll love it. It’s “brasserie” style food served in a traditional manor for Portugal. This one you can watch the sunset before you enter too!! Our tiny mark down on atmosphere, we were sat en the enclosed conservatory and people freely smoke, being from the UK we are used to the being a thing of the past, it’s not nice, BUT, your in Portugal, you can’t judge by anyone else’s standards!

Very well situated. Panoramic view sitting available. Good food at reasonable prices. They have on weekdays the daily menu which is a bargain taking into account the amount and quality of food. Did wait a bit for food to be served, but understandable due big numbers of clients.

This place has an amazing view and amazing food! I had the Lombo with fries and rice and it was amazing. The bacalhau á bras is also really good along with the Frango all good choices. Staff was very friendly. Will come back!

The food was pretty great. Everyone in my group enjoyed it. They were able to speak great English and handle my food allergies with no issues. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

The steaks are bland and the portugese sauce is very oily. Ordered medium-rare and got it almost raw. The french fries were refrigerated and not well fried. It hasnt even been 2hrs since I ate here and already my stomach does not agree with the food. The food came quick though and iur waiter was very fast to take order and bring the food.

A spectacular restaurant on the embankment with views to Almada over the river Tagus, and a few metres away the enormous monument to Padrão dos Descobrimentos. Excellent sea food. Has about 100 tables. There are queues outside in the evenings. No car parking ( there's a dock if you have a boat ).

The food was delicious but in our opinion the oil was too much, the dish itself didn’t need that amount of it, it is exaggerated. The restaurant is very taken care of but the air conditioning inside was too strong, and it happened that a shellfish was killed right in front of us, I don’t think that it is a good show and that the waiters or cookers should ask the clients first because honestly it triggered me. I have to say that the food is very good and of course the fish is very fresh

Stopped in for a drink and an appetizer. They don’t have a lot for appetizers. We got bread with garlic butter, olives and I had the vegetable soup. I ordered the sangria and it was really good. But a lot. They don’t sell it by the glass. It’s a nice restaurant in a pretty setting. They have restrooms on site and it’s within walking distance to many of the big attractions.

Got the shrimp and clam rice as well as a steak. The rice was absolutely amazing, warm and comforting. The steak was pretty good but nothing mind blowing, it came with a lot of sides which was appreciated. We were also sat at a table with an amazing view of the monument and seaside. The service was also great and friendly, probably largely because we came in the off-season. Overall a little pricey but understandable given the location.

Our worst experience since we were in Lisbon. Poor service, the butter was mold, the seafood platter was not fresh. They tried to invoice items that was not delivered. The manner of the waitress is better in Macdonald. They barely do not say thank you when you are leaving. If you can…avoid this place

Came here to get some seafood. We got the seafood platter, which includes prawns, shrimp and crab. It is good, cold but we had trouble with the duct. The service was also slow and the food was basic. We also got beef croquettes to start which were dry and olives which lacked flavour. This place has the potential to be good. Our meal came to about €46 which is very good

Unfortunately the only thing we liked about this restaurant is the kind and smiling black waitress . We have waited at the entrance for 10 minutes being completely ignored even though there were so many available tables. The food cannot be compared to what other restaurants in the city can offer. Everything was cold and way full of olive oil when hot. Too bad because we loved the area. This place has great potential.
