Lisbon's historic toy hospital. You’ll meet the dolls collected from all over the world. The Dolls are brought in for repair. They are carefully fixed/ operated by gentle aunts called “ surgeons “and are waiting for the day to return to their owners.

A so so experience. One small group get a guided tour through the hospital. The guide points out what the do and the materials they work with, the special dolls in the museum and some other effects. She was kind to wait for us to translate to our children (she spoke English, our kids do not). The entrance is €2/person (no discount for children) which is a little steep for 30 some minutes visit. Go there if you have a fetish for dolls of all shapes and sizes, or if your children really _really_ loves dolls.

My favourite place in Lisbon! The tiny shop is full of interesting pieces and the museum / collection upstairs is definitely worth the visit, for a fair ticket of 2 Euro. The guide was very nice too! They have an incredible collection of dolls plus the ones to be repaired. Expect drawers and drawers of heads, legs and arms. Super beautiful!

I stumbled across this place from the window. It was truly fascinating. It holds a collection of dolls dating back to the late 19th century in an apartment, collected by a family of five generations of doll "doctors." The first part of the tour includes the room where dolls 'wait' for surgery and treatment, and then two beautiful 'inpatient rooms', that are not just displays – the family still repairs dolls from all over the world. In the adjacent rooms are huge collections of dolls. My favorite parts were the small touches – a turntable displaying the record of a famous Portuguese troubadour, an ascending belt of Barbies through the generations (including a Brigitte Bardot), a collection of caroling dolls, and a troupe of baby nuns. Truly beautiful, and they rearrange the collections all the time. Whoever is curating this place has a strange and brilliant mind. I am no doll collector btw, nor have any special interest, but love tiny things. The guide was friendly, well informed, and very sweet. Highly recommend a visit. Well worth the 2.5€ (+1 for covid measures). Sofia (from USA via Berlin)

Nice cute museum if you’re around the area. It’s a 15 min maximum program. Nice history and a lot of toys from old times to see. It’s a guided tour that costs 2€ per person. If you like dolls or just antique things worth a visit. Very nice staff!

One of my best experiences in Lisbon and among the best museums that I have been. Truly a hidden gem in the heart of the Lisbon. I highly recommend visiting this museum even of you are in Lisbon for a few days. The visit takes around 20 minutes and the tour guide will present you with a detail account of the aim of this hospital and their collection in the museum. The dolls in the museum date back to 19th century which is amazing. It is really a hospital! believe me! They have trained doctors working in two surgery rooms! They also accept the sick dolls from all over the world and send them back after treatment! AMAZING

Very bad experience. I arrived the place and wait 10 minutes to someone tell me I could not visit even if it was opened, they said were only 2 people there and could not to show me. After that, they told me that would be available in one hour and half, I went for a lunch and when I came back they said it was not possible again because in fact they would open the museum later. It was a such lack of respect of people. Seems the museum is opened to public when they are in mood to show, otherwise they keep giving excuse.

(Translated by Google) Contrary to the opinions, I had no trouble finding the place, you just have to open your eyes. The museum is small in itself, but there are loads of dolls to see and the collection is impressive. The staff are pleasant. More nostalgic than scary atmosphere.

I really wanted to like and support these kinds of shops/business as they are rare. Shops that cater to people who value their dolls, stuffed toys are precious and I appreciate their intention. I, unfortunately had a very bad experience. If you value time and punctuality, I wouldn't recommend this shop at all. I am only in Lisbon for a limited time so I asked them if they could repair my 12-year-old stuffed travel bunny. I was told it was possible to pick up on the day we leave. During the agreed pick up date, I was told it wasn't ready and was told to come back. My uber driver was waiting outside the shop with my luggage to catch 3 flights out of Lisbon and told the shop I can't possibly do that and I had to take the bunny as is. After around 20 mins wait, they gave me my bunny unfinished with a part of it unstuffed and not stiched. Some parts were re-stuffed but my main concerns weren't done. I still had to pay full price of €38 and left in a rush to catch my flights. This is really disappointing having to receive my toy at this condition. They should have not agreed to take on this if they cannot deliver. I wouldn't go back to them again

One of the coolest places I have visited. We got a personal guided tour for our small group of 4, for only 3.50 eur each which I thought was a bargain. The woman who showed us round was incredibly knowledgeable. There are thousands of dolls of all ages, styles and from all around the world.

Really great museum. The lady showed us around the doll hospital and museum. She told us a lot of intresting information about the dolls and their history. I never knew there was so much history and difference between the dolls. Had a great time and definitely recommend!

Came across this place by chance, SO glad we went in. If you like looking at dolls through the ages it's well worth a visit. We got a private guided tour from a very nice informative guide for 3.5 euros each. There are over 4000 dolls, the hospital 'doctor' fixing dolls in the 'theatre' during our visit. There was so much to look at, room after room of beautiful dolls. We felt we rushed it as we didn't have much time. Will definitely return when next in Lisbon.

A little hidden gem in plain sight. It has a small storefront on Praca da Figueira, where they sell all sorts of collectibles and doll accessories, and it's a 5th generation Portuguese family owned business. The most interesting part is the doll hospital/museum itself, which you get to visit for 3 euros pp. It takes about 30 minutes, where they explain about the doll repair process and materials used and also show you the dolls that are "up for surgery" plus you get to see the huge assortment of old collectible dolls from several parts of Europe (mostly from Portugal, Germany, Spain and a few ethnic ones), and some from the US. This might very well be the last repair shop of it's kind. Even though I don't particularly like dolls, the stories and the beautiful displays were really interesting for me and my family. The location of the "doll hospital" itself, on the upper level of the store and within an apartment building, give this place a very particular charm. Don't expect a fancy location/tour, it is more like the store owners letting people in on what the particulars of their unique business. BTW, our tour was in Portuguese, so I don't know if they do it in other languages. Very nice experience and something different to do while in Lisbon!!!

I loved this little museum and store. Really interesting place, slightly uncanny and very delightful. 4000 dolls from the earliest times up to today, from all over the world. The 'hospital' part if it was fascinating, too. See a variety of dolls with issues that need fixing, and how they do it. I loved this place as an adult, and would have loved it as a kid even more.

    - Fun and worth going - Spend less than 30 minutes here - 2€ for entrance and a guided tour The Doll hostiltal/repair shop was a diffrent but kind of fun experience. They have more than 2000 dolls from the last two centuries at the museum.

Charming museum and doll hospital with over 7000 dolls. The lady gave me a brief tour through the museum; however, at the end (around 15min) she said I had to leave because she had another group coming. I asked if I could stay but she said I couldn’t. It felt very abrupt and rude - I wish she’d told me beforehand instead of at the very end. Interesting museum but the service soured the experience for me a little.

What a surprise that I found a small place but very interesting history behind and what they’re doing. Dolls hospital! Now and then who can think about that. A beautiful place family running for years fixing dolls from every where, including from another country. With a tour we can understand more how important about dolls to people, memories, personal....and we can see step by step how the hospital work . I can tell people who work here are all artists, they very friendly helpful and artist. The hospital very clean, comfortable and organized. I glad I found this place. Will tell my friends coming here whenever they visit Lisbon/ Portugal
