If you ever travel to Lisbon and don’t hire paolo for the Jewish walking tour of Lisbon you are missing out. Looking back from home after 3 weeks of travel this was clearly the highlight of our time in Portugal. Knowledgeable and passionate are what separates a good tour guide from a great one. We were unable to book the Jewish Heritage tour with Lisbon Explorer with Paolo who comes so highly recommended because he was already booked. We were referred to Daniel as his associate and we were very pleased with our day. Daniel was a wealth of historical knowledge giving us wonderful perspective on the Jewish experience in Lisbon, as well as general Lisbon historical perspective as well. We visited a variety of locations that pertained to Lisbon's Jewish heritage, and as with most European cities they are now historical landmarks vs actual signs of existing Jewish life. We saw places we never would have found on our own and saw spots that many tourists see with a different set of eyes. We highly recommend this tour with Daniel.

One of the best walking tours I've ever taken. Our guide, Professor Pablo was incredible. His knowledge of Portugal and its Jewish history opened up my eyes to the areas long, tortured past. The walk around the Jewish quarters was fascinating....getting to see so many areas of the city a very reasonable pace. The tour was suppose to last 3-3 /12 hours but Pablo gave us 4 hours. A true gem.

I simply cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Paolo is exceptionally knowledgeable - and so generous with his knowledge. He held us spellbound from the first minute to the very last. He brought Jewish history to life in an unforgettable and deeply moving way. We didn’t want the tour to end and have promised ourselves that we will be back on another trip to Lisbon to pick up where we left off with Paolo.

Paolo’s knowledge is so thorough and in depth. His commentary, combined with his knowledge of history, is fascinating. I walked away with so much information and even more questions. I cannot wait to get back to Portugal and explore further, once I plow through the book list that he sent me.

Professor Scheffer provides unique information from a Jewish perspective that one will not find with any other tour guide in Portugal. This tour was one of the best tours I've been on, and the highlight of my trip to Portugal in October 2019.

Best walking tour anywhere! Paolo makes the history of Portugal come alive in a walk around Lisbon that focuses on the mostly forgotten Jewish legacy in the country. Stunning. He is articulate, knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. This usually fills up fast so book ahead. Don’t accept a substitute.
