My family and friends went on a tour with Ricardo and he was by far the best tour guide I have had. His passion and love for touring really shows and allowed us to have a great experience. The tour took us to all the local spots that we wouldn’t have known about. The food was amazing and Ricardo really knows his stuff. I enjoyed learning all about Portuguese culture and the making of all the foods and drinks.

What can we say? This tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. We got to see corners of Lisbon we probably would have overlooked on our own, plus taste some excellent food and learn about the history and context of the foods we were eating. Our tour guide was Daniela, and she was amazing! She was a lot of fun and full of interesting information and anecdotes about Lisbon. We would have loved to just sit down for a beer with her even after the tour. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I did the tour with Sofia, she showed us incredible places with passion and love through historical neighbourhoods. The food was amazing and Mouraria stole my heart. Walking through cute alleys and quiet little squares whilst eating and drinking in historical shops and family run eateries is definitely the best way to explore the city.

I took this tour with my husband today! I work for a smaller company so I understand how powerful reviews of smaller businesses are! I loved that they made accommodations for me (as I don’t drink alcohol). There were some places to stop that were only alcohol, so if you don’t drink this may bother you. They did offer me water and Coca Cola but I eventually declined because I had had a lot of soda! It didn’t bother me though. Our guide Dani was wonderful and told some amazing stories, and we even walked through the neighborhood my husband and I stayed in Lisbon with pictures in the street with the locals. So sweet and tender! I would recommend doing this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about Lisbon from a true local!

Our 3.5-hour tour with Dani was one of our favorite experiences on our two-week trip. She pointed out lots of details about the culture, architecture and neighborhoods that we would not have gotten anywhere else. It seemed like she knew everyone in town. The food was amazing (especially loved the cured ham & cheese, codfish cake with creamy rice, samosas and pastel de nata. All were paired with wine, beer or coffee. Dani even stayed afterward to answer questions and give restaurant recommendations, which we followed. She deserves all the credit for a fantastic day in Lisbon.

First, Dani, our guide is awesome! Hands down, awesome. Full of knowledge and vibrancy. Our walk was perfectly calculated to the people on the tour. You can’t get through Lisbon without feeling like you just worked out on a StairMaster, but it was routed perfectly. The food and drink choices were excellent. With so much culture in Lisbon, it was a chance to dive into different foods and variations of the Portuguese style of food. Would do the tour again in a heartbeat!

I always love doing food tours in new cities and Taste of Lisboa did not disappoint! Dani, our guide, is a native of Lisbon and you can tell she loves her city and wants to share stories with anyone who will listen. She had such a great connection with the different merchants that we visited. All of the food was delicious and I really enjoyed walking through areas that weren't huge tourist centers. Next time we are in Lisbon, I would definitely sign up for this tour again!

My family and I had an incredible experience with Taste of the Lisbon food tours, guided by the amazing Ricardo! The tour took us to various locations where we had the opportunity to sample a wide range of traditional Portuguese cuisine while immersing ourselves in the rich history, architecture, culture, music, and warm hospitality of Lisbon. The food selection was outstanding. From the delicious wines and beers to the mouthwatering cheeses and meats, every bite was a delightful journey into Portuguese gastronomy. The codfish cakes were a particular highlight, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The samosas and ginjinha were unique treats that added an extra layer of culinary exploration to the tour. And let's not forget the famous pastel de Nata! Pairing this iconic Portuguese custard tart with a cup of coffee was a heavenly combination. It was the perfect ending to our gastronomic adventure. Ricardo, our knowledgeable and experienced host, made the tour even more enjoyable. His passion for Lisbon's history and culture was evident, as he shared captivating stories and insights at each stop. His warm and friendly nature made us feel welcomed and at ease throughout the entire tour. The tour also provided a wonderful opportunity to appreciate Lisbon's architecture and immerse ourselves in the local ambiance. We felt connected to the city and its people as we strolled through charming streets, mingled with locals, and soaked in the vibrant atmosphere. Overall, Taste of the Lisbon food tours with Ricardo exceeded our expectations. It was a delectable and enlightening experience that allowed us to savor the flavors of Portugal while delving into its captivating history and vibrant culture. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable culinary adventure in Lisbon.

I don't typically recommend tourist tours especially when out of country but taste of Lisboa is one of the exceptions to that rule. We had only been in Portugal for about 8 hours and hadn't slept more than 4 hours in the past 24 and this tour started in the afternoon at this beautiful little grocery store that's been around for hundreds of years and it was exceptional we learned about this amazing cheese and drank some really good wine and then we moved on to a codfish cake that is proclaiming to be the best in the city, it was very good, but the rice I think was actually better. We also stopped at this little sandwich place where they are cooking stewed pork right in the window and you walk in you order a beer and you get the little sandwich that has all this juicy yummy pork and you put yellow mustard and some spicy piri piri sauce, man what a bite. Then we walked our way into the back streets up the hill where it seems like all the locals are to a little bar that's more than 300 years old to have a very special cherry liquor drink which is famous where they add a little wine based moonshine to the drink to make it even stronger, it was quite delicious. And then over to another local spot where we had Somosas and some local beer called Super Bock the beef pie with piri piri was perfect. Then we ended our tour with some dessert at 1 of the oldest bakeries It was really fun and delicious a shot of espresso perked us backup so we could make our way to have another drink somewhere else. Obviously the food and getting to see some local places is a wonderful part of the tour but the exception and what really made it special was our tour guide Daniella who went by Danny. She taught us some easy ways to order the food in Portuguese, like to ask where the bathroom was and how to pronounce things like the locals do. She had funny stories and really brought us into the moment, she was fantastic highly recommend you get a tour with her. But what put the cherry on top was having my love by my side holding hands getting to experience this amazing adventure together thank you for your love I will never let it go kiss kiss

Just enjoyed a fabulous food tour with Daniel and Raquel! An awesome experience with great food but perhaps more importantly an informative lesson on the rich, multicultural history of Lisbon and in turn the food we enjoyed!! Highly recommend to anyone! Daniel and Raquel were very knowledgeable and gracious hosts!!

It was great. Daniel was our guide. He has vast knowledge about Lisbon, its history, food, music, culture. He answered any questions from the group and also shared some of his personal experience (about food, music). His guiding was witty, engaging, fun. Food was great (there was also vegan and vegetarian options). Other half of our group had Daniela as their guide and they very very happy with her guidance too.

Our tour guide, Rita, was terrific. We started with two of the classic markets where locals shop. There was wine, meats, cheeses, fruit, sardines, pastries, and more. Having explored more on my own in the days that followed, I am especially grateful that this was not a sampling of the plethora of tourist restaurants along the river. We sampled authentic foods and learned of local history and the culture of the people. The tour included a fair amount of walking, which was a little tough for my travel friend who is still recovering from surgery. Nonetheless, most of the walking was in a single burst as we transitioned from one neighborhood to another. The tour took around 5 hours, which was longer than I anticipated. Our guide was more concerned with the quality of the experience than with any sort of timeline. She wanted us all to have fun and enjoy. Bravo!

We had an excellent food tour with Daniel! He shared a great series of dishes at multiple restaurants, personal stories, and cultural background that helped us understand the dynamics of Portugal. Also, he provided suggestions for other restaurants, which were great.

This was the highlight of my trip to Lisbon last week! Miguel was so fun and knowledgeable and had so many great pieces of knowledge for us, not just about food but about Portugal in general. He was so fun and energetic and really made this tour phenomenal. All the good spots we went to were superb. It was just enough food where you feel full but not sluggish. I highly highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Lisbon!!!

We travel a lot and I’m try to do food tours everywhere we go, so we have been on a lot of food tours in a lot of countries. Here in Lisbon we did both the Roots food tour and the Market food tour with this company. Both were outstanding. The guides were a joy to be with, knew their food, history and neighborhoods. We recommend doing both tours since they are very different. The morning tour visits the Market and local haunts of the Campo de Orique. You visit some well hidden gems of local cuisine as well as the central market. Filipa is an excellent guide and communicates her love of her country and its life style well. The afternoon tour with Daniella is a real joy. This is a tour guide in love with her job. She knew all the local lore, was an obvious favorite of the local residents and introduced us to several favorites of Portuguese traditional cuisine. Both are terrific tours with plenty of food and drink. Do the afternoon tour first if doing both tours. Overall we give these tours a rare rating, five clams in the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

My wife and I just recently returned from our trip Portugal. This is actually the perfect time to write a review as we can look back at the entirety of our trip, and can reflect on one of the definite highlights of our entire trip as taking part in the Taste of Lisboa Food Tour. Ricardo, our guide, was awesome. We appreciated how the Food Tour with Ricardo blended the culinary experiences with his extensive knowledge of the culture/history/"life" of Lisbon and Portugal. We especially appreciated his connection to the neighborhoods within Lisbon that we visited, allowing us to feel more connected to these neighborhoods as well. We enjoyed our conversations with Ricardo and the 4 other folks that compromised our tour group as we sat down for tastings; amazing what can be shared in conversation while partaking in a great food experience.

I absolutely loved the tour. We had Daniela as tour guide and the conversation, tips, stories and overall experience made a big difference in how I see the city now. I recommend to do this early on your trip as you will gain better insight and knowledge to navigate the city after that.

This tour was such a great experience!! The tour guide, Dani, was amazing. She brought such great energy (despite the rain) and shared so much cultural/historical knowledge and love for Lisbon. The food and drinks were delicious and the additional recommendations were great for once the tour was over. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon!

Our Taste of Lisboa tour with Rosa was a highlight of our time in Lisbon. We just had a very small group of 3, but Rosa made the tour so fun and informative. We were able to taste food and drinks from small, local, restaurants, not the toursity ones. Rosa told many personal stories about the people, the culture , and the neighborhoods which was so interesting! She was very willing to answer our many questions, and never seemed in a rush. The delicious food and drinks really filled us up, so we didn't need to go out later for dinner. This tour was our favorite activity in Lisbon!! Highly recommend!

Fantastic way to discover Lisbon - we loved it! Miguel led an excellent tour - delicious food, colorful neighborhoods, and interesting stories gave insight into this wonderful city. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for our vacation. Miguel even stayed on to give us advice on beaches, vineyards and shopping for the rest of our trip.

Miguel was an amazing guide who was very knowledgeable and welcomed all of our questions. I particularly liked the blend of culture and food - we stopped at many street murals and learned a bit about local life, art, and history in the context of the food tour. Highly recommend!

Wow, what an amazing tour this was, this should be on everyone's to do list for visiting Lisbon! This is a great way to not only get introduced to the city, but also to understand the food and what you can request at a restaurant for the rest of your stay. The guide, Miguel, was fantastic! Great command of English, tonnes of energy and all the knowledge possible! We had 6 tastings over 6 hours, walking and exploring the streets of Lisbon, and visiting many hidden gems along the way, mostly places you would never find out about yourself... and that are not on any guide book. An authentic experience, and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Madalena was an absolute delight. She was knowledgeable and informative. The places we went on our tour gave us a broad view of the Portuguese food & drink, and some history of Lisbon thrown in on the side. I highly recommend Madalena and the Taste of Lisboa Food Tour.

What a delight. Our travel agent booked us on a food tour of Lisbon and I couldn’t recommend it enough. This is a delightful way to tour the tiny alleys and squares of old town Lisbon. Our guide, Dani, was wonderful. She had so much energy and she remained unflappable throughout the tour. She gave us the colorful history of the city as we tasted delicacies along the way. She peppered the tour with history, fun facts, and personal stories - it was great. This is a really fun, tasty, and interesting way to get to know Lisbon.

Our family took the Lisbon Roots, Food & Cultural Walk with Dani. It was a fantastic experience, Dani was an excellent tour guide. She was lively, had entertaining stories, and told us the history of Lisbon and the food/drinks we had. We were never pressed for time and each stop was unique, interesting and added to the walk. We saw places we would have never known about or visited on our own. We had a total of 9 people on the walk and they were all people we enjoyed getting to know. We would highly recommended this walk, and Dani, to anyone visiting Lisbon.

We had a wonderful time on our food tour! Andre our guide was amazing! Easy going, helpful, and very friendly. He knows the best kept secrets of Portugal and Lisbon and made us feel like we understood this country a little bit more in these three hours we spent with him. We participated with our 6 month old girl on a baby carrier, and our toddler on a travel stroller. Even though we were a bit slower than the rest of the group, everyone made us feel part of this wonderful stroll around Lisbon! Thank you so much! We definitely recommend this tour :)

Filipa’s food and culture tour was a top highlight of my recent two week European vacation! In a relaxed, friendly and professional manner she answered all questions at length, and proudly shared the best her city has to offer for food and drink. We visited 6 locations including a cheese and meat shop, 3 restaurants, a Ginjinha bar, and a bakery for pasteis de nata, the famous custard tart fresh from the oven. We sampled croquettes, “naughty” rice, prego no pao (beef sandwich), delicious aged ham and cheeses from the Azores, Vinho Verde (“green” wine) and some African foods. Filipa was delightful and eagerly shared info about a Jewish monument we passed, background about the beautiful cobblestone designs all around, and about the Fado tradition. I took this tour at the start of my trip - I visited 4 countries and 7 cities/towns, and this tour was my second favorite part of my whole trip (walking the City walls in Dubrovnik edged it out by a little). She helped us all feel comfortable with each other (we were from the US, Wales and France). I cannot recommend this tour more!!

I went on a tour with Daniela in August 2022 and it was great. The guide did a great job of interacting with us. She also did a good job in telling the group the history of the locations/food. I can be somewhat of a picky eater, but must say that all 6 stops on the tour were excellent. Each spot was slightly different but the quality was excellent across the board. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone in Lisbon.

I enjoyed the Taste of Lisboa Food Tour on November 6, with Sofia as the guide. In addition to the delicious food and drink (wine, cheese, olive oil, samosas, ginjinha, bifana, codfish cake, nata), Sofia was extremely knowledgeable about Lisboa history and culture, including Fado. All of the merchants knew Sofia and were very friendly with her.

We are visiting from Prince Edward Island, Canada, and just finished a food and culture tour with Dani. She was amazing!! Her knowledge of history, art and culture was stellar and her love for her Portuguese culture and community was evident through all the stories and experiences she shared. We visited places in Lisbon we would never have found and are eager to go back to these establishments and communities over the next few days. This was the first tour we have ever taken but it will be a new tradition as we continue our travels; starting with Porto in a few days. We really appreciated the dietary accommodation’s (celiac and vegetarian) made by Dani and the various establishments involved. Thank you Dani and Taste of Lisboa Food Tours.
