Seven meters high and with an unusual configuration, the monumental and centuries-old Buçaco cedar in Jardim do Príncipe Real is, in reality, a cypress (Cupressus). If its name can deceive the most distracted, the same happens with its scientific name Cupressus lusitanica. The fact is that, despite its name suggesting that it is a Portuguese species, the Buçaco cedar is a tree native to the mountains of Mexico and Guatemala.
