Museu Nacional da Música

Tourist attraction Museum

😐 It is a very small museum. If you have the Lisboa pass you can take a quick look at the museum since it is free. Total visit time should not take more 15 min until and unless you are a musian. People often mention instruments, museum,

the entrance is inside the metro station the museum is small so dont expect a big collection the admission is half price for students there are not much explanation about the instruments so it was not a well educative visit for me.

A lovely thematic museum inside the subway station of Alto dos Moinhos. You Will find some really surprising items. You can't miss their activities: concerts, lectures.

Great to find a little Musical Instrument museum in the Metro Station. Great idea to bring culture to the travelling masses on the underground. 3 euro entry is worth it.

Tiny museum that you could visit in 20 minutes. Worth it if you love old and rare instruments, otherwise skip it.

This is a small museum on one storey, but has quite a few very old and unusual instruments with information in Portuguese and English. There is even a Stradivarius here. There are also a number of instruments in alcoves around the different areas that you can try to play. It is surprisingly difficult to play the oboe, it turns out. Sometimes they stage concerts here, with musicians playing the older instruments. It won't take you long to go around, compared with the larger museums, but the price to get in is quite cheap, and it will give you a different experience from anywhere else in Lisbon.

Unfortunately I went at the end of September 2023. From October onwards it will close, and will only open again in the new premises in Mafra.

Very small museum. There is no information about the instruments, only their names. Was excited to see a couple of brass instruments i hadnt seen upclose however. (I want there with a trompettist and i'm a tubaist/euphonist myself.) There are a couple of instruments to try but most of them are in really bad shape. There wasnt even a reed on the clarinet. We tried telling this to the staff but they were only talking to each other and not paying attention to us so we left. We used lisboa cards to get in, otherwise i would regard it as a waste of money. Museum might be more enjoyable if it had more information (or staff giving a tour) and maybe live concerts.

👍👍 Beautiful place. It's such a pleasure to be here in any season in full sun or under the moon. The Belem tower is awesome !
