Built in the 18c as a factory of ropes for nautical purposes (hence location and lenght of building) in pombaline style, the front part of the complex became a cultural venue on the late 1990s. Its industrial past is still noticeable, with leftover rails and floor irregularity, scale of windows and doors and height of ceiling. The Coordoaria exhibition space is a long narrow high ceiling unobstructed space that allows to accomodate a big range of temporary exhibitions. Its location close to the river, nearby Lisbon's Conference Center, Casa America Latina and Fábrica da Electricidade/MAAT, is quite convenient. Entrance is done at the center of the building, on the south facing facade (facing the river). The single floor single room space doesn't offer much more other than toilets and exhibition area (it is accessible to wheelchair though). For eateries or other facilities one must look elsewhere. Content is really dependent on the exhibition/event it is showing and personal preference. Exhibitions are usually paid. Ticket office is outside, near the entrace. Please note the eastern tip of the building is a separate exhibition space under municipal curatorial management, separate entrances and ticketing.

I visited the "Urban [R]Evolution" exhibition at Cordoaria Nacional today and it was fantastic. The guided tour for just €5 was very enlightening. The street art on display was captivating, and our enthusiastic guide made the experience even more enjoyable. This exhibition is a must-visit for art and culture lovers.

One of the longest buildings in Europe, containing two archives of the Portuguese Navy (one of which is an excellent research site) and a military teaching establishment. Cordoaria also has several exhibitions and events of great interest taking place in its space on a regular basis. The building is well located, having several points of interest around it, and being very close to Belém.

We saw the Ai Wei Wei exhibit, "Rapture". It was amazing! He is an artist on the forefront of social injustice. Prodigious, brilliant and controversial. Whether the work is about refugees, censorship or authoritarian regimes, it is no wonder he is considered the most popular artist in the world. And he lives in Portugal now! 🇵🇹

We have been to this venue multiple times and love it as it is able to house large exhibitions. Today we saw Revolution, and it was fantastic! It is suggested you buy tickets in advance, and entry runs every hour. You can spend as much time as you like once inside. There is parking in a near by lot.

Bansky exhibit is a nice mix of video, prints, background info and photographs. It covers a lot of different material the artist has created over 20+ years

Went to see the Pop Art exhibition - Warhol, Lichtenstein, Johns, Rauschenberg. Ticket 10€, worth it. This exhibition is open until 2020. MAAT is just across the street, it's convenient to visit both in one go.

Went to see Ai Weiwei exhibition and it was great! The place is really good for art, a lot of space, and it remains as it originally was.

A vast exhibition space which allows for large works to be displayed inside. We went to see Ai Wei Wei exhibition focusing on the world's refugee crisis which was very well curated though so tragic.

This complaint is related to the lack of information of the descriptive/technical memory of the photos, where the requirement of individual technology of the visitor to access information is mandatory. The excessive price does not justify the absence of curatorship. Also is impossible to do a complain in loco. Sorry but we still live in a real world, not a digital One. This is a not an inclusive cultural exhibition .

Fantastic contemporary art space, just opposite MAAT. Urban (R)Evolution, currently on til end of 2023 I believe, is a fantastic urban art exhibition! Good range of artists, very well curated, in a former industrial space with great installations/murals showing early graffiti art from NY, to contemporary European street art.

Great location for exhibitions. Easy to reach and you can also visit the other Museums around or Belem. Saw the Steve McCurry Exhibition... amazing setup for the pictures and a huge recommendation to visit it.

Good exhibition space. Felt some of the work was filler but, still. There were some pretty good shepherd faery pieces and loved the NYC stuff

Magnificent exhibit of Eduardo Gagiero photographs! Especially those taken in the years, and days, immediately preceding and following the April 24 revolution are worth any detour to see. Great space too!

Incredible exhibition. Note - not open Monday’s. And bring your own headphones / device and internet. One thing that was weird… was that the Audio commentary did not match the order of the photos!

When we arrived every entrance was shut down and there were no information that the museum is closed. I guess there are no exhibitions available due to renovation but some information regarding that would have been nice.

Amazing Ai Weiwei exhibition, very well curated, and even a small souvenir shop to bring meaningful mementos home. A terrific stop and find following the Torre de Belem or the Mosteiro de Jeronimos.

I was there for the Ai Weiwei exhibition which was stunning! In general, it has a great programme

Good space, and good staff with exhibitions that can go from incredible to average. The latest, on street art, is unfortunately uninspired. Strange set ups with a very loose and soulless presentation that does not represent the creativity of the genre. Skippable, unless you are new to it and want to get some basics.

The Ai Wei Wei exhibition is amazing. My first time seeing his work. This is a very thorough exhibition covering his work and also a detailed biography that really helps put his work into context
