My
hotel
in
Lisbon,
Portugal
was
on
Avenida
da
Liberdade,
the
Fifth
Avenue
of
Lisbon.
On
this
long
tree-lined
avenue
are
such
luxury
shops
as
Cartier,
Gucci,
Louis
Vuitton
and
many
others,
and
a
number
of
modest
outdoor
restaurants
and
cafes
including
Bananacafe,
my
favorite.
Every
day
I
walked
by
a
shop
at
Avenida
da
Liberdad,
129,
named
Boutique
dos
Relógios
Plus.
I
always
noticed
a
security
guard
on
duty
and
also
a
regular
policeman
standing
nearby,
so
I
was
curious
as
to
what
expensive
items
were
sold
inside.
One
day
I
mustered
enough
courage
and
walked
inside
to
see
what
was
sold.
Handmade
watches
for
both
men
and
women
were
on
display.
Famous
makes
of
luxury
watches
include
Audemars
Piquet,
Blancpain,
Bovet,
Breguet,
Breitling,
Bvlgari,
Cartier,
Harry
Winston,
Hublot,
Mont
Blanc,
Patek
Philippe,
Piaget,
Rolex,

Constantin
and
other
less
expensive
watch
brands
such
as
Balmain,
Baume
&
Mercier,
Bering,
Calvin
Klein,
Gucci,
Hamilton,
Hugo
Boss,
Lacoste,
Longines,
Omega,
Rado,
Seiko,
Swatch,
Tissot,
Tommy
Hilfiger,
among
others,
and
some
gold
jewelry
and
necklaces,
are
also
sold
here
and
through
its
online
website.
