Very beautiful landscape that is tended faithfully. All popular landmarks (aka tourist sites) require a significant entry fee, and as I only had one day here, I kept walking. With some physical endurance and a strong sense of orientation, the mountains can be traversed any number of ways. And if you have a mountain bike (plus body armor) this place is a downhiller's paradise.

This site was breathtaking. All the architecture, history, gardens, monuments were fabulous. I always say, read up on it before you go, or certainly after. Gives you that unique perspective on the history. My favorite was visiting the High Cross. Nice leisurely stroll (long but worth it) and the path is wide and paved. Stops along the way include the queen's table and the soldier monument. The nature is so beautiful and we weren't even there during full bloom. The castle itself is worth the money. Lines seem long but they have a great system in place. No worries, you'll get in when your time comes! The views are amazing from the castle and High Cross. Soak it all up. Plan to spend some time here.

The park is wonderful, with rare plants and trees. You need to climb the hill to get to the palace, but I saw a person in a wheelchair who was helped by a friend to go round the garden. I was really impressed!

2021.06.11. It is one of the very beautiful palaces surrounded with huge vast gardens, located on the hills of Sintra. Most of the days the climate is foggy, so the visibility is restricted, nevertheless the gardens have a mystic appearance. I would recommend everyone to buy a ticket only for the garden but not for the Palace because even then you can access some parts of the palace from the outside and take some beautiful pictures. It is a must-visit if you are visiting Lisbon.

Wonderful national park with ancient castles as well. The view on the forest with the ocean at 5he back was dreamy! I fell in love with this place. In the summer period the vivid green is bright and the light sweetly filters through the trees.

Part of UNESCO, it's one of the most magical places for me in the world! Once you walk on this coastal mountain you will feel recharged and well at mind. With 4/5 castles from various ages some even 9000BC It's energy, off pist walks and beautiful architecture including some lovely restaurants and cafe in the town areas, this really is a Special place. Sea breeze, eucalyptus tree and pine tree smell will keep your hooked and missing this place forever.

(Translated by Google) The park is simply one of the most beautiful in the country, so many wonderful places to go. The Serra de Sintra, also known as Monte da Lua, is a mountain in the municipalities of Sintra and Cascais, in Portugal. It is located at the western end of the European continent. It measures about 10 kilometers from east to west and approximately 5 km wide, with its highest peak at an altitude of 528 meters. It is the target of several tourist excursions. It is also very popular with climbers and mountaineers, since the escarpments are mostly oriented to the west, which increases the light time on summer afternoons. It is in the mountains of Sintra that are located: the Castle of the Moors, the Palace of Pena, the Convent of Capuchos, the National Palace of Sintra, the Palace of Monserrate and Quinta da Regaleira.

Love the Palaces and towns but the wild places are the best. There are loads of pictures of Pena etc. but there is much more to this park than these overcrowded tourist sights. Now with the Covid Pandemic its time to avoid the crowds and find the hidden places.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the National Palace of Sintra, and I was thoroughly impressed. The gardens were meticulously kept and full of lush greenery, providing an idyllic setting for a relaxing stroll. The palace itself is a stunning piece of history, with its beautiful tilework, elegant architecture and unique towers. Inside, you can explore the ornate rooms and marvel at the fascinating artifacts that tell tales from centuries past. The guided tour offers an informative look into the history of the palace and its occupants, adding an extra layer to your experience. It's easy to see why this marvelous palace has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site - it's one of Europe's most impressive palaces! And while there’s so much more to explore than can be seen in a single visit, it’s worth every moment spent here. Whether you're exploring on your own or taking part in one of the many guided tours, you won't forget your time here in a hurry - it truly is something special. Highly recommended!

I believe Praia da Ursa is part of the park. It's among the most beautiful I have ever seen. But, to get to the beach itself, you have to hike down a steep track.

Me and my wife love this place. They have sometimes family events going on, but we just love that there are plenty of options for a walk, bike ride(they have rental), horse ride or a donkey experience. Walks can be a bit too exposed to the sun and you might need plenty of sun cream in the summer, but we love the views of mountains and fields in Sintra. Such an iconic place! Spring is the most beautiful time to visit that place!

Fantastic place less than an hour with a train from Lisbon. It is a must visit but at the Sam time a huge touristic trap. From the moment you get out of the train, the offers for tours and rides come your way. The area around the castles is walkable and you don’t need to get on the bus. Go to the Historic centre and from there you can easily walk up through the beautiful park- forest til Moures castle and from there to Peña Castle. Make sure you bring lunch and water with you as the prices are double than in Lisbon and the options in the small kiosks around the area are limited plus also quite crowded. For all the nature lovers, this is a must visit place.

We only managed to visit Pena Palace with a small portion of the park. It is definitely worth the time, but I would suggest at least one full day.

Praia Da Ursa ? a must see, the most beautiful beach in the Lisbon and Sintra area, and most probably one of the most beautiful if Portugal. Difficult to reach but worth the climbing. This secluded beach treasure is already quite known. You are not the only one anymore. But no facilities though. No toilet, no bar, you need to take care of yourself. Hidden treasure of Sintra ❤️

Very pretty park with a great diversity of flora and fauna. (Cork trees can be found here) Loved the walking trails and the quiet elegance of the natural beauty. We hadn't planned on a stop in the park but am very glad we did. I live near the ocean and when we got out of the car the salty breeze brought me home. Try it.

Had an amazing day with my mom there but it is hard to walk up there we took the tuk tuk cab up and the buss down it was very beautiful and the palace rooms had lovely detailing but in my opinion its the outdoor area of the palace and the terraces around it that are the hit factor. Inside the palace there is around 10-15 rooms and around 4 bigger halls it is very nice and again a lot of amazing wood craved details and marble and staying glas as far as you can look but its not your typical type of palace with lots of gold and kitsch and pompous rather it is arty and detailed with love and devotion. If you are not really in to that go up buy the ticket for the garden but not for the palace inside you will have amazing views and get off a bit cheeper it is an expensive experience for 2x people we payed following: 25€ for the cab up, 2x 14€ for the palace garden admission, 2x 14€ for the palace inside area admission, 2x 7 € for the bus to come back down come to overall 95€ for 2 people to see one palace on top of the fact we where on holiday in Lisbon so we had to buy train tickets to get to sintra in the first place. Also there is a shop there that sells snacks and drinks and the items they do have are reassnobly priced especially compared to the tickets and the fact they are quality products but variety is very very very limited. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

A must see in Sintra, Portugal. It's like being in a fairy-tale and the colours will blow your mind! I recommend taking the bus up (I did not do the 3 stop bus, felt it was not worth it for my day plans). Then hike it all the way down which can take 1-2 hours but it is the most majestic scenic hike you may ever go on! Don't take the bus back home, hike it! Make a day out of Pena Palace and enjoy!

The Sintra-Cascais nature park, located about 30 km north of Lisbon, covers a vast and very diverse area. There one can find, for instance, dense forest, mountain, beaches and dunes, incredible palaces, exotic and lush gardens, etc. The undeniable scenic value associated with this protected area was recognized by UNESCO by integrating part of the mountain and Sintra's historical centre in the World Heritage List with the category of "cultural landscape". In a nutshell, it's a magical and wonderful place; a must-visit, especially for those who enjoy outdoor walks in an area of extreme natural beauty.

(Translated by Google) The location icon of the Sintra Cascais Natural Park at this time (Jul 2020) is located by Google in a very unfortunate way. People appear in Gigarós looking for the Palácio da Regaleira. I live nearby, I have seen a lot of lost people. The area of the Park is huge, I suggest that Google place the PNSC icon next to a reception of the Park or Monte da Lua. The Park itself is far to massive to really describe it, look at specific places for that. That also means there is lots to explore. Adraga beach is wonderful and has a restaurant next to it, the nearby town also has quite a few good places to be, and much more just in that little corner. So take a good look around Google maps, you will find the good spots there.

An experience not to be missed. You will be having dreams about this place for months, once you have seen it. An array of green colours, mixed in the most extraordinary fashions with fogs and raindrops in any season. You will be enthralled by the smells of eucalyptus all around you and the fantastic views. A must visit.

Our family love visiting this reserve. Trails for different levels. Amazing kids walk with a story that has been added into the walk which keeps the kids going. The variety of mushrooms growing was awesome to see. The trail we did today was at the Quinta do Pisão. Great for families to meet, walk, picnic and has a shop on site with various items available as well as WC facilities.

Excellent park, well maintained and laid out. Lots of tree ferns along the moss-covered paths. Everything is very atmospheric and secluded in November, without a huge crowd of tourists.

👍👍 This beach is between Praia Grande and Praia das Macas. Access is easy but it is not a guarded beach. Good for surfing and one of the few beaches dogs can take during the bathing season.
