Prior to this trip I searched for the best vegan food in Lisbon and Mambo didn't come up. I was fortunate enough to have done a tour and this restaurant was recommended. This was the first and only restaurant that I took my leftovers home because it was so good and I wanted every bite. I was so distracted with the art work, conversation and delicious food that I forgot to take a picture of the menu. Pleaseeeee stop here if you're visiting!!! The food was amazing. Vegan options and meat options. Go after 2 to sit outside comfortably with shade. Definitely a walkable area. Atmosphere 5 ⭐ Food 5 ⭐ Service ⭐ I hope this restaurant makes it to the list of Bests in Lisbon.

When I first touched down in Lisbon I had already searched for a black owned restaurant in the neighborhood I’d be living for a month. Lucky for me Mambo was a 5 minute walk away from home! In true American fashion my friend and I arrived right when the restaurant opened (😅) and chose a table outside. The vibes here was so chill and laid back. We actually sat for hours talking and no one bothered us. The food was full of flavor but my cocktail took the cake for me. It was so good! I just wish they told us it was cash only upon arrival because what the ATM in front of the restaurant charges should be considered robbery. I’d come back though. I would love to bring my girl friends here to start a fun night out!

I took a tour, Lisbon's African roots, that ended here. The tour couldn't have ended in a better place. I would have never found Mambo on my own. The food was delicious, and I don't think you could go wrong ordering any of their dishes. I feel very fortunate to have taken the tour and gotten a meal here. The perfect combo!

Currently sitting at this beautiful establishment….man oh man! My husband and I ordered the Yassa chicken meal and OMG!! Soooo good! The cocktails are also delicious, the food is awesome, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating! The vibe is also chill and laid back. What more could you ask for? Wishing the owners much continued success! We will return every time we’re here!

The first time we went to this restaurant was to get a drink as we waited for our dinner reservation. We decided to try and share a mafé (peanut butter soup with beef) and get caipirinhas. We had special one with boab fruit. Gil, the owner provided great service. The food & drink were delicious. We were excited to come back the next day as part of walking tour.

Amazing! If I could give it 10 stars I would. The food here was the best we had after 5 days in Portugal. So so flavorful, and while there are few options, all of them are delicious. The chicken leg with rice was amazing, and the (vegan) stew was also so so good. A must try spot!

Stopped there for a cocktail and to chill on the patio and noticed very yummy plates around us. The cocktails were made with love and expertise for 5 euro each. Super friendly staff. Excellent atmosphere. Will be back for dinner!

Guys you know when I give a review it’s with careful consideration for everything and mostly the service…especially if it’s by recommendation. “I feel like I am at my grandmother’s house” one of my colleagues said. “ I am in my happy place doing my happy dance” my Friend said. - The food came to the table at a reasonable time and was very delicious. -The Drinks were specialty drinks and the server ( Jill ) took his time to explain every layer and of the drinks and also very tasty. -The place is small so the seating is an intimate one for large groups, the atmosphere is nice and the music took you to another world. -I recommend you give them a try and ask for (Jill )

I've been craving some African food for a while, and decided to hit Mambo in Green Street. My friend and I both had the Chacupo(?) seafood and loved it. They were out out of cassava fries, but let us get Dutch fries from the restaurant opposite. I would definitely recommend going again. The only annoying thing is that they have a 7-item main menu, but the available items usually relate to which of their roster of chefs is cooking on that particular day.

We had beef stew and the portion had 4 small bites of meat in it and the rest was just sauce. Apparently it is supposed to be like this based on what the waiter told us. The taste was ok but not to come back for. The atmosphere was also soso. It felt like we were in a club/bar with loud music and in the dark.

Let me tell you about Mambo! We'd heard it was the final stop of the African history tour, but we didn't make the tour. Yet we still wanted to try the restaurant. So, last Friday night, we went to Green Street, and wow....was this a treat! This might have been the best food we had in Lisbon! Food was hot, fresh, delicious. The drinks were tasty, too! The photos and videos speak for themselves. We had a most gracious host -- he took the time to explain the dishes and served us with attention. Gave great recommendations for how to spent the rest of our night and time in Lisbon as well. The music was a great background to our time spent at Mambo, and we even got a group shot at the end! 10/10.

Amazing Senegalese food, so tasty! We had to go back twice. Great service, friendly staff and great vibes. Loved the Mafé dish and their fruit natural juice cocktail. Highly recommend!! Location is gorgeous on the Rua Verde (added bonus points)

I completely enjoyed this restaurant! A group of us were looking for a black owned establishment in Portugal and we were told about this place. The owner Jill, is amazing! He made you feel like family and is extremely friendly. The food is amazing, and the drinks are delicious. This quaint place hit all the right spots. Just to give you some heads up it is a CASH ONLY restaurant!

The service is very friendly compared to the other restaurants in the neighbourhood. The cocktails are amazing. If you know your cocktails you will enjoy to watch the skill with wich they are prepared. The atmosphere of the street is very cosy and special. This might be the best place to sit down for a drink.

Flavors are solid and truly Senegalese. Really incredible vibe. Music was great, service was so wonderful, great location. Get there early so that everything on the menu is available.

Great experience. Really tasty food, interesting flavors and the right amount of heat. Excellent cocktails featuring the fruit from the tree of life, we had two rounds! Kind, happy, smiling service while a DJ inside played reggae, world, and some excellent 70’s African funk from Cape Verde and Ivory Coast. Cash only, no cards.

WOW. We have been in Lisbon for two weeks and this is the best meal we have had. The chicken leg is so soft and savory: it melts in your mouth. The broth is hearty and delicious. The service wonderfully fast. Our server was conscious and put in our order (we are a couple) prior to a big group’s, thinking ahead. Absolutely amazing!

Had a very tasty dinner at Mambo, offering west African dishes, all with vegan options. I had the vegan version of the Cape Verdean stew—delicious flavors and nicely spiced. Well-priced too. Super friendly server, cozy space and nice atmosphere.

A real gem. Don't be fooled by the unassuming frontage, we stumbled across Mambo on an evening stroll and we're blown away by the flavourful homestyle cooking. Service was second to none as well. 👍

Lovely place at a lovely street. Great music, friendly vibe. I had this vegan food called “veggiete” something with seitan but it was sooo good. 👌
