I will never order here again. There was a fly roasted in my chicken. I have never had chicken so dry, has it been out for hours in bug filled room, or was the raw chicken left out for the fly to lay eggs on before cooking. I was dry and nasty. A plain salad, old dressing and rice, greasy vegetables. But the bug was the worst. A pic is attached, I am glad I saw it and didn't eat it.

I was here with my coworkers for team lunch. I really enjoyed the buffet, everything I ate was so good!!! I recommend if you have a taste for authentic fine Indian & Pakistani tandoori cuisine. Good Service ✅ Courteous Staff✅

My husband and I want to like this place because we love Indian food, it's near our home, and it has been around for a long time. However, it is an awkward experience every time we go. The decor is confusing (white tablecloths and stemmed glasses paired with outdated china, old chairs too low for the table, and dirty carpet), and the restaurant is eerily quiet except for conversations coming from the kitchen. The staff seems inexperienced and/or disinterested. The servers bring your food and occasionally fill your empty glasses, but they otherwise spend their time standing around in the back. This visit, the server was nice but kept asking us if we wanted drinks or desserts, and it felt like she was trying to make a big of a sale as possible on the only table in the restaurant. The food was okay. We ordered vegetable biryani, aloo gobi, dal, naan, and paratha. None of it tasted better than our home-cooked versions, unfortunately. I did like the naan, but I'm not going back just for a $5 piece of bread. With tip, the meal cost $80. There was another entree we wanted to try another time, but I don't know we'll be back any time soon. I wish the restaurant owner and staff well. I want them to succeed, but they'll need to step up their game if they want to compete with all the excellent restaurants in the neighborhood.

Horrible food ever, please do yourself a favor and do not order from here. I ordered Samosa, Goat Karahi & Chana masala. The Samosa had a weird smell as rotten food, Goat Karahi was practically meat immersed in oil with no other taste. I felt I ordered oil instead of food. We just had a few bites and had to throw everything. The oil in the picture is collected from only one item ( Goat Karahi)

I ordered a dish that is vegetarian at every other restaurant I’ve ever ordered from, off of the veggie section of their menu, and and confirmed it didn’t list meat as an ingredient. Food arrived and contained Chicken. Delivery was handled by the restaurant directly, so I can’t even blame a third party service. Would highly recommend that anyone with dietary restrictions or ingredient preferences never go here because what you order might not be what you get. Garlic naan was covered in sesame seeds, and tasted sour. The Somosa was good, but not good enough to make up for everything else.

Overall I was not satisfied with my experience and will not return. The pictures of the full table show everything that was ordered. All together $80 for two. Butter chicken, extra rice, samosa, 2 naan and the chicken dish. The breads were $5+ each and the rice came out to like $10. None of the menu prices were accurate. The posted restaurant hours said they were open until 10:30pm, at 9:30 the waitress asked if we wanted dessert because they were closing. We denied and she quickly brought the bill. None of the items had prices just a total. Service was subpar, the waitress was awkward as was the environment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This dinner really annoyed me

so good! dont let the 1 star reviews food you. aatish has gone under new management and has really taken a step up. The chicken biryani is my personal favorite, tastes exactly like how they make it in Pakistan. My #1 Favorite indian cuisine to go to. Their decor also reminded me of a cozy family restaurant and it really brought the indian atmosphere to life. Dont understand why people are upset about the rule of one item per customer, Its fairly common especially in D.C? The food is worth it. Ive dined in, taken in, delivered and the results have alwayd been 10/10

Never had a bad experience with the Aatish fam (tho I only ordered takeout). Food was consistently delicious and arrived HOT. Garlic naan was good, mango lassi was great, chicken tikka and lamb vindaloo were my go-to solid dishes. Vegetable pakora slapped. Always left satisfied. Best part is that food always showed up fast. If you live in the area you’ll see the Aatish cars whipping around speedily. I like that they have their own delivery service.

Wow! I was not expecting this place to be that good. I ordered the samosas, chicken makahni, garlic Naan, large rice, seekh kebab, and the Mango lassey. The rice was so fluffy and EVERYTHING was so fragrant and flavorful. I came in close to closing time, but the food quality was definitely not impacted. You can tell everything was fresh. I loved the spiciness of the chicken makahni. The craziest thing is ive lived next to this place for years and never knew it existed. I will be back!

Some of the best Pakistani food I’ve ever had. From the rice, naan, and chicken tikka, everything was perfect. Not to mention, the service was exceptional. The hosts are incredibly nice. I can’t wait to come back!

Excellent goat and lamb biryani, and hands down the best chai in DC! Super friendly and helpful staff - Awais is the best, so sweet!!

Avoid. This food, while texturally accurate, is totally tasteless. Its like they created a curry without any of the spices that give it flavor. There was no richness, no wonderful flavor that Indian/Pakistani food should have. I Ordered Karahi Chicken and Palak Paneer - 2 of the easy classics that any Indian restaurant should be able to knock out of the park, and like I said they were both completely tasteless. I'll never spend money here again.

We ate a few vegetarian entrées and appetizers and everything was tasty with great service and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back and try something else from there good size menu. There is some potential debate that I think the portions were perfect but my partner thinks they could have been slightly bigger (but she’s happy with evvvverything else).

I’ve been going to Aatish on the hill since I was young and they have never disappointed. My favorite dishes are the butter chicken and lamb josh paired with the best naan’s served from any restaurant. As a frequent customer they’ve educated me on many of the dishes and how everything is prepared. Unlike other endo Pak restaurants they use a charcoal tandoori which really brings true quality to their naan breads. They explained how it’s more expensive and a lot more maintenance to keep the charcoal tandoori but that’s what puts them ahead of other restaurants. The staff is very nice and being a family restaurant the environment is very welcoming. They’re always easy to talk to and easy to work with.

We tried lunch buffet here and were so happy to have found the best and delicious food so close to the Capitol building. The staff and manager are super cool. Highly recommend this place. Authentic Pakistani food

This spot is great for lunch, all you can eat buffet. Really good taste, spiciness upon request. Naan comes out fresh and delicious. Staff is very nice and will do their best to leave you satisfied. Great price for great food.

Most of the time when I eat out I go to Indian/ Pakistani restaurants. This particular establishment is charging premium but serves like a food truck. They don’t itemize the bill so, they will overcharge for example, a dish might be $20 on their menu but when the bill comes it will magically become $23. I am not sure what is going on with their AC system but in the summer it is really hot in there. I know they have to make a living but their customers deserve better. If they want to charge premium value they should upgrade their menu, you can’t sell a $15 meal for $28. Please honor your menu pricing and don’t overcharge, itemize your bill. No wonder they have very few customers on the weekends or evenings because if you go here once you will not return in the future

Food tasted fresh and authentic. My favorite is the Rogan Josh however their butter chicken and lamb biryani are amazing and the best in DC. Don’t let past reviews fool you as they recently underwent changes and have drastically increased their quality and service. I highly recommend Aatish on the Hill.
