This
is
more
of
an
informational
post
for
anyone
that
uses
Allina
in
general,
it
just
so
happens
I
experienced
it
through
Regina
Hospital.
First,
I
have
had
a
great
care
experience
via
Allina,
including
Regina
Hospital.
If
their
finance
department
were
not
involved
it
would
be
a
4
or
5
for
care
only.
However,
I
find
their
pre-visit/pre-surgery
payment
practices
to
be
very
deceptive.
I
had
surgery
over
month
ago
and
prior
to
surgery
I
was
given
the
option
to
pay
the
portion
that
Allina
thought
I
would
owe
prior
to
the
date
of
surgery
or
at
the
day
of
surgery(they
did
not
present
an
option
to
be
billed
post
insurance
company
claim
submission
-
more
on
this
below)
-
so
I
paid
before
because
I
didn't
want
to
mess
with
it
the
day
of.
So
anyway,
I
paid.
Now
that
all
the
insurance
claims
have
been
processed
it
turns
out
I
owe
them
a
fraction
of
what
they
asked
me
to
prepay.
And
what
I
prepaid
doesn't
go
towards
my
insurance
company
out
of
pocket
max.
So,
I'm
getting
bills
from
all
the
other
providers
from
surgery
because
the
prepay
didn't
go
towards
my
out
of
pocket
max
and
so
I'm
basically
getting
double
dinged.
Okay
fine,
I'll
pay
then
fight
for
the
refund.
Here's
the
big
kicker,
I'm
not
getting
a
refund
yet
from
Allina
because
they
are
going
to
use
the
"balance"
to
cover
any
remaining
charges.
Um
excuse
me,
you
billed
me
for
X
based
on
an
estimate,
I
paid
X,
when
services
were
rendered
for
X
it
came
in
less
than
the
estimate.
Therefore
you
owe
me
a
refund
for
the
difference
in
the
cost
of
X.
I
didn't
set
up
a
revolving
account
with
you
to
pay
X,
Y
and
Z.
So
it
would
be
nice
to
have
the
difference
funds
that
I'm
owed
to
cover
the
other
medical
bills.
But
whatever.
What
I
want
everyone
who
reads
this
to
know
is,
DON"T
PREPAY
you
don't
have
to
despite
how
they
represent
it
to
you
-
YOU
CAN
SAY
BILL
ME
which
I
would
highly
recommend
doing
based
on
my
recent
experience.
It's
also
problematic,
IMO,
that
they're
sitting
on
thousands
of
dollars,
using
it
in
an
unintended
way
(i.e.
revolving
account
for
medical
expenses
that
don't
exist)
and
not
giving
me
interest.
