Nice calm place although the area around the place has a lot of traffic. The actual memorial are is surrounded by a peaceful garden. There are a lot of small fountains where you can find birds bathing and drinking water. There is plenty of arrangement for drinking water and washrooms and the are is wheelchair accessible. Advise visitors to maintain the decorum of the memorial and not make too much noise and maintain the cleanliness as this is place for fallen soldiers of our country.

Best feeling ever...just go there with ample time. Spend a lot of time reading and absorbing all the feelings these soldier fraternity has ever done for us putting remains of their sole purpose of duty towards the nation and nation building and keep us free from the shade of terror within and on the boundary.I feel absolutely speechless going there. Yes there are aesthetically much more things to watch in the Delhi region but As of me this is THE Best feeling ever I got.

Nestled in the heart of India's capital, the National War Memorial stands tall as a poignant tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and resilience of the nation's armed forces. As a visitor, stepping onto its grounds is not just a journey through history, but a profound experience of gratitude and remembrance. As I walked through the memorial, I couldn't help but feel the weight of history bearing down on me. Each step was a journey through India's tumultuous past, from the wars of independence to modern conflicts. The various sections of the memorial, dedicated to different branches of the armed forces, provide a comprehensive overview of the nation's military history, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by countless individuals. What truly sets the National War Memorial apart is its ability to evoke a range of emotions in visitors. From pride and admiration to solemn reflection, the memorial invites contemplation and introspection. As I stood before the names etched in stone, I felt a profound sense of gratitude for those who gave their lives so that others may live in freedom.

The concept of rebirth is inspired from the quote of Captain Vikram Batra. Either I will come back after hoisting the Tricolor, or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure. REBIRTH – पुनर्जन्म (in Hindi) ‘Reborn to be an immortal’. Great sense of pride and victory at the cost of their life! The memorial is a gestation on the idea of rebirth of those unsung heroes through their stories, journey and struggles translated as spatial expressions. A culmination to the historical Rajpath extending through the India Gate, the National War Memorial is an open landscaped public space spread over 42 acres in the C -hexagon. Mostly invisible but strongly present, it is a semi-subterranean design remaining a peoples’ place but with a different dimension of emotional weight. Progressive act of protection, sacrifice, bravery and becoming the immortal translate as a concentric arrangement of which the ‘Thyag Chakra’ holds the name of each fallen soldier who become another brick in the nation’s defensive wall.

National War memorial is a very well designed premises commemorating the sacrifices of Indian Soldiers. The concept of the memorial design is very nice with concentric circles, steps to the lower level plaza where the main spire was placed and a semi covered walkway with murals. Skylights lit the gallery with natural light. Names of soldiers that gave their life for the country are engraved in the concentric circular structures.

We as people take our history lightly, thinking what will history teach us and go by our normal days. But for the soldiers protecting this country that history is the biggest motivation for them to fight for this country. All those battles fought to save this country should not be forgotten so easily. So do visit this place to remember the sacrifice to make India a better place for all of us.

One of the best patriotic places to visit in Delhi, the war memorial houses an eternal flame similar to India Gate. The flame represents the immortality of their sacrifice. It represents that their sacrifice will always be remembered by the citizens of India. The memorial has 16 walls and pattern of the wall resembles a chakravyuh, an ancient Indian war formation.

A very well maintained area for paying tribute to all the people who’ve served our country and given the ultimate sacrifice. Do take some time and see the names on the plaques just outside to realize the significance of the place. The entry queue is a little time consuming. Taking any edibles from outside is not allowed. You can pay your tributes digitally, but there are very few stations and some of them don’t work.

The National War Memorial (राष्ट्रीय समर स्मारक, IAST: Rāṣṭrīya Samar Smārak) is an Indian national monument built to honour and remember soldiers of the Indian military who fought in armed conflicts of Independent India. The names of armed forces personnel killed during the armed conflicts with Pakistan and China as well as the 1961 War in Goa, Operation Pawan, and other operations such as Operation Rakshak are inscribed on the memorial walls in golden letters. This monument is spread over 40 acres of land and was built by the Government of India around the existing chhatri (canopy), near India Gate, New Delhi. The memorial wall is flushed with the ground and in harmony with existing aesthetics. It completed in January 2019 and was unveiled on 25 February 2019 in an inauguration ceremony held at the monument where the Prime Minister of India in the presence of CDS of India, and the 3 Chief of Staffs of Indian Armed Forces, ignited the eternal flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flames of Eternal Soldiers) at Amar Chakra under the main obelisk of the monument. Amar Chakra (Circle of Immortality): This structure of the memorial derives its name from the Eternal Flame (Amar Jawan Jyoti), continuously burning under the main obelisk at the center of the monument. The flame symbolises the immortality of the spirit of fallen soldiers and the promise that the Nation will never forget their sacrifices. Veerta Chakra (Circle of Bravery): The second circle depicts the Bravery of Indian forces in the form of a covered gallery that exhibits six murals crafted in bronze depicting valiant battle actions of Indian Armed Forces. The battles showcased here are Battle of Gangasagar, Longewala, Tithwal, Rizangla, Operation Meghdoot and Operation Trident. Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice): The circular concentric walls of honour, which symbolise the ancient war formation ‘Chakravyuh’. The walls are clad with granite tablets where an independent granite tablet is dedicated to each soldier who has made the supreme sacrifice in the battlefield, where his name is etched in golden letters along with the details of Rank. Rakshak Chakra (Circle of Protection): The outermost circle made of rows of trees in the Rakshak Chakra is a reassurance to the citizens of the country about their safety against any threat, with each tree representing the soldiers who ensure the territorial integrity of the Nation, round the clock.[12] The Param Yodha Sthal houses the busts of all the 21 recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honour. National War Museum A National War Museum will be constructed in the adjoining Princess Park area and will be connected to the memorial through an underground tunnel. The Princess Park is a 14-acres large area north of India Gate, with barrack-like accommodations built during World War II. Since 1947, it has served as family accommodation for mid-level armed forces officers posted in the Service Headquarters in New Delhi.[13] The proposed National War Museum will be connected by metro. The construction of the War Memorial and Museum is expected to cost ₹500 crore (US$70 million). In July 2020, the Central Public Works Department opened the tender for the selection of a consultant for the National War Museum in an area of around 10 acre. Two firms have been shortlisted, CP Kukreja Architects and Suresh Goel & Associates.

Amazing Experience watching these disciplined soldiers dedicated to the nation service. This is the first time after independence that our soldiers are given so much respect for their service, their family members are called to pay tribute to the entire family which is heartwarming and respectful. Hats off to the government for taking such decision which makes us feel proud.

The National War Memorial (राष्ट्रीय समर स्मारक) is an Indian national monument (War Museum) built to honour and remember soldiers of Indian Armed Forces who gave the supreme sacrifice in armed conflicts of Independent India. The names of armed forces personnel martyred during the armed conflicts with Pakistan and China as well as the 1961 War in Goa, Operation Trident , and other operations such as Operation Meghdoot are inscribed on the memorial walls in golden letters. This monument is spread over 40 acres of land and was built by the Government of India around the existing chhatri (canopy), near India Gate, New Delhi. Here's the eternal flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flames of Eternal Soldiers) at Amar Chakra under the main obelisk of the monument. This is my most favorite visiting place & I want to visit again with my loved ones after joining the Indian army ♥️

This monument was built to honour and pay respect to sacrifice made by the jawans of Indian Army after India got independence in 1947, who fought for the country in various conflicts. There is a central obelisk, at the bottom of which the eternal flame is burning continuously to represent the immortality of Indian Jawans, who laid their lives for the country. There is no entry fee to see this memorial. This monument is built on vast 40 acre area near Chhatri (canopy) and India Gate. It is recommended to visit the souvenir shop. Very clean washrooms near souvenir shop. The names of martyrs are engraved on each brick which is amazing idea and arranged in very aesthetically pleasing manner.

A must visit place, designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. India Gate is part of the war memorial, built to commemorate Indian members of the British Indian Army killed during World War I. It details the glorious past of our soldiers. The gardens, water fountains add beauty to the place. You could buy souvenirs from the shop inside the memorial. The whole place is well maintained, to grab the full beauty of the place, it's recommended to visit after 6pm. Last entry is at 7-7:30. Entry is free.

The national war memorial is a solemn and significant monument dedicated to honoring the brave individuals who selflessly served and sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The inscription, "Here stands a tribute to valiant hearts who gave their all for the call of duty," emphasizes the profound courage and dedication exhibited by these individuals in the face of adversity. "their courage and sacrifice live on, forever etched in our nation's memory" highlights the enduring impact of their actions. While these individuals may no longer be physically present, their heroic deeds and the sacrifices they made continue to resonate within the collective consciousness of the nation. Their memory serves as a reminder of the cost of freedom and the importance of upholding the values they fought to defend. This quote not only pays homage to the fallen heroes but also serves as a source of inspiration for current and future generations. It encourages reflection on the sacrifices made for the greater good and underscores the responsibility to honor their legacy by fostering a society that values peace, unity, and the well-being of all its citizens.
