Jd's tour of Old Delhi was simply incredible. I especially found his communication, professionalism, and storytelling to be top notch! Also, we found his first-hand knowledge of the Sikh Gurudwara (temple) - our favorite stop - to be a huge bonus for us! Would highly recommend Jd's experience to anyone looking for a tour of Delhi's most bustling and beautiful market centers.

I had a layover for a day in Delhi and was looking for a 3-4 hour cultural/food tour, and boy did this ever hit the mark! JD was a super host and tour guide taking us through Old Delhi! We visited several temples and JD knew all the historical details and protocols for visitors. The highlight was helping to prepare food for the hungry by rolling out Indian breads and watching the whole process of serving those waiting to eat! We wound our way through the back alley merchant and spice markets, tasting delicious foods along the way. Such an awesome experience of sights, sounds, tastes and smells! Highly recommended!!

We were so excited about the cooking workshop we did with JD, our host for the evening, that we immediately booked his old Delhi tour for the day after. Very fun experience where we learned a lot about culture and food! JD was the best possible guide with a great sense of humour :)

This is such a wonderful experience! We did this on our first night in India and even our Indian friends were impressed with our sense of adventure and how well JD’s tour was organised. He takes you through the markets which is a complete sensory overload - the sights smells noises tastes of India are right there for you to soak in. You will taste some delicious (and safe!) street food that melts in your mouth. The temples and historic sites are also included so there is no other tour you need. We highly recommend to anyone visiting - you will have a great time. I can’t recommend this enough

My fiancé and I have been on many Airbnb experiences and both agreed that this was our favorite by far!! He covered so much about old Delhi and we were able to try so many different dishes it was well worth every penny! We wanted to try the street food but were nervous not knowing what was okay so eat so we were very excited to read that JD put a lot of time into finding the best, safe to eat places for his tour and he is also a chef himself! Don’t think, just book!!!

Brilliant Old Delhi food tour! JD tries his utmost to give you an impression of the real Delhi and its food. It's more than just a food tour but a cultural experience. After spending a day in Old Delhi by myself, I felt quite overwhelmed. Doing it with a guide like JD made the whole place much more appealing and accessible. Would definitely recommend!

JD is amazing. His knowledge of Delhi’s history, culture, and food make you fall in love with the city. Friendly, caring and always with a smile on his face, JD will surely make your visit worth it. Book this experience without a second thought if you want to explore Delhi and it's streets.”

do yourself a favor and let jd show you around old Delhi! As a female single traveler I cannot recommend his empathetic and attentive personality enough :) First it can get quite overwhelming experiencing the vibe, spices and life around the city but jd makes sure you always feel safe and comfortable. He picked out the most interesting spots and gives perfect amount of background knowledge. You will see his love for his job and his city. Also, if you want, he takes care of documenting the tour with pictures so you don’t have to worry. He even made sure I arrived safely back home. All in all an experience you don’t want to miss.

This tour with Jd was incredible. He made the markets and temples manageable as foreigners and personally selected each food spot, making it safe to taste everything. He put a lot of thought into the tour and made sure everyone felt comfortable. I highly recommend this experience.

Amazing three hour food tour of old Delhi. JD was an excellent guide, deeply knowledgeable about both the food that we had but also the places that we visited. Especially appreciated experiencing the different temples and religious communities of Old Delhi. He also knew of all the best places for a photo op! Highly recommend this tour.

Great experience touring Old Delhi with JD in 3h! We took rickshaw to the Spice Market and went to a rooftop with views, we then tried various street foods, and visited Sikh temple and Jain. I feel like I would have got lost if I had gone to old Delhi on my own. JD was very accommodating and kindly arranged an evening trip for me, which I really appreciated. He also took lots of pictures which is a bonus when you're solo-travelling!

The tour with JD is a fantastic way to see some of Old Delhi and learn more about the history and culture through food. It was great value and he has clearly put so much thought and research into the places he takes people. Would absolutely recommend this tour!

This was such an amazing experience! We loved exploring Old Delhi with Jd and having the opportunity to try so many different street foods. Jd really took care to seek out foods that were safe and everything was delicious. We also loved the chance to visit so many different temples and actually go inside! We loved learning about the practices and traditions from Jd and seeing it all firsthand. Such a beautiful experience with a wonderful and witty host!

Jd is a remarkable tour guide who has clearly put a lot of thought and care into the tours he leads. I cannot recommend this tour or any other service he offers enough. It was a genuine, enriching experience that gives you a perfect taste of Delhi, and India for that matter. 12/10”

JD was such a great guide, and he showed us a wonderful cross section of old Delhi culture, religion, and food in just a few short hours. He also took some great photos of me and my friends! I can’t recommend this tour enough.

We had a great time on our tour with JD! He is a great host, and it felt like we were exploring Delhi with friends. The food was delicious and we left feeling very full. His explanation of how he vets the stops for safety was very thorough, and we had no issues afterwards. If I had more time in Delhi, I would definitely sign up for more of his experiences!”

JD told us that this would be more of an experience than a tour, and we couldn’t agree more. This was my husband’s first trip to India and he thoroughly enjoyed every part of our experience with JD. Although I was originally born and raised in Delhi, even I learned so many new things through this experience. JD puts a lot of effort into picking the spots we visit throughout, whether it’s food or otherwise, and we really appreciated that. I was a little scared of my husband trying street food, but we had absolutely no issues! We both agree that this was well worth the price - you truly get what you pay for :)

Traveling in India alone for the first time and in such a crowded place can be scary and even intimidating. JD made this experience easy and fun. He demonstrates great knowledge and conveys it in an understandable way. Recommended as a start for anyone traveling alone

JD was a great guide. Learnt a lot, great food (felt like it was well planned and safe to eat). Incredible experience. We were meeting lots of friends for a wedding in India, and recommended the tour to all our friends - they all loved it.

JD was a fantastic guide. Not only was he knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Indian culture and its religions but his energy and smile were infectious! I highly recommend his food tour to anyone visiting Delhi!! We walked away with full, happy bellies and more insight and understanding of Delhi culture.

BEST OLD DELHI TOUR!!! We had the best time and JD was such a good tour guide. You have to book with him if you are visiting Delhi!

  • 5/5 Paola Cordovez C. 4 months ago on Google
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Delhi. When planning our trip, we were very torn about what experiences to book (or whether to just figure it out on our own). We decided to go with JD, given the fantastic reviews from other folks, and IT EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. It may be priced slightly higher than other similar tours, but that is because the value 1000% matches (if not exceeds) what you get. Every single part of the tour has been carefully planned by JD, and focuses on seeing the real Delhi, understanding how people live, and expanding our sense of community. Some of the highlights: 1. We went to a Sikh temple, were we were able to go into the kitchen (they invited me to make roti!) and see how hundreds of volunteers work daily to feed thousands of people for free. The communal aspect of everyone eating together was incredible to see, and gave us such an appreciation for the importance of taking care of each other. 2. The Spice Market. It feels like traveling back in time! 3. ALL THE FOOD. As someone who is typically picky and averse to things I don’t know, I didn’t know what to expect. And let me tell you: every single thing we tried was incredible. JD has picked food stalls and places based on safety, quality, and taste - and it was the best food I’ve had in the 2 weeks I’ve been in India. To top it all up, JD is an incredible person who made the tour engaging and informative (on top of just being a hilarious person who was a pleasure to be around). When I come back to Delhi, I’ll absolutely sign up for his other experiences. And I STRONGLY encourage you to sign up for this one.

This was an incredible way to experience Old Delhi. I wanted a mix between a food tour and tour to see the sights, and this fit the bill perfectly. You can tell that JD is an experienced tour guide. He explained everything and answered all my questions. Plus the food was delicious!!

JD’s tour is likely to be the best experience you will have in India. You will see a side of Delhi that is impossible to see on your own. And all the places he takes you to are so tasty (even if you’re a picky eater or worried about tummy problems). 100% clean, hygienic and delicious! Don’t think twice about booking, just do it!

JD is a fantastic host to experience Old Delhi with. It is a very thoughtful, fun, and filling few hours -- if you find yourself in Delhi for any length of time, do yourself a favor and sign up with JD.

Jandeep (JD) knows Delhi inside and out and will be able to take you through an authentic food tour right through the heart of Old Delhi. You will visit hidden, delicious seventh generation owned restaurants and world famous food stands. You will get to see the inner workings of a Gurudwara and catch glimpses of the city that you would have never known existed. At every stop and along the walk, you will learn the history of the area and building that you are in. His knowledge of Delhi is astounding. Book this tour with peace of mind knowing that the tour guide will have you completely safe from Delhi Belly. You can eat at each restaurant with 100% guarantee that you will be fine. Saving the last for best, JD will also make sure to capture all of these moments for you and help by being a world-class mobile camera man and taking your pictures and videos to help solidify the memories for a lifetime. Book your food tour with JD, I promise you that you will enjoy every second of it.

Absolutely loved this food tour! Never been to Delhi before and JD made it an out of the world experience. He is such a nice and friendly host, and could answer all of the questions we asked. He was telling us a lot about Delhi, foods, history, religion and etc. It was very interesting to get to know more about India from a local person. And we had such a great group of people. Totally recommend taking part of his tour!

I joined a virtual experience with JD in June 2021 with Explore Culture Storytelling, walking in Old Delhi. He is so engage and I felt like I was really walking and learning about the local culture and history. Praying always for my brothers and sisters in India! Book the Experiences, you will not regret!! Obrigada JD

JD took us on a virtual tour of a kilometre in Delhi to give a flavour of the cuisine, the religions and the culture of India. I even learned not to meet the eyes of monkeys as they see that as aggression. What a great experience.

JD is a true storyteller. His passion towards food really comes across. I did an online masala chai class with him, which was amazing. His Old Delhi tour through Explore Culture Storytelling was really exciting too. Learned so much! Hopefully travel will be resumed again and I can do his Food tour in Delhi.

I invited to host a Masala tea making session for my husband's birthday and thanks to JD, we had such a memorable and special celebration with all the families and friends. The group was big with 9 people dialing from various locations from England and Wales but JD managed to get everyone engaged and involved. It was a late night for him to host us but he had such energy (in a very calm way) to inform, educate, and engage with each of us. We started with the history of tea, then moved on to making the tea. JD was both very articulate to explain the culture and history and very patient so that we can a group can chat, ask him questions, and batter. The tea was absolutely delicious but we had much more. We learned more about India, about how to make Lassie, Indian weddings, ahd the current situation in the country. (yes, our family was so curious and JD was so patient with each of our questions). He arranged a surprise for us at the end, which was the climax of our evening but I want to keep it a secret so you can try his experience for your family fun yourself. This year due to the rising cases in London, we couldn't meet in person for celebrations such as birthdays, Christmas, and new year. But we managed to have a blast connecting with everyone traveling to Delhi with a wonderful host like JD. To be even better, neither of us needs to drive home after a late-night 'party'! JD there are some more reviews from our family members: Adrian (Arundel, England) We had a wonderful lesson making masala chai, an Indian spiced tea. I have just had my second cup, it tastes delicious. JD gives a warm, friendly and engaging demonstration with clear instructions. Highly recommended. Carolyn and Chris (Wales) What an amazing informative experience. Lovely friendly guy who gave us an insight into the making of masala chai. Jennifer (England) It was lovely seeing everyone and your tea making was great fun JD so wonderful to be able to zoom across the world even if it did mean you staying up very late thank you so much. Later on, with a group of friends, we booked JD for its Delhi culture virtual tour. By taking us to one street in old Delhi, JD presented us the diversity and generosity of the city and its people. The one hour went by so quickly with discussions and videos and his narrative of the capital city of India. I strongly recommend finding JD for both his online offerings and in-person offering.

Went on a tour with JD this afternoon and it was absolutely brilliant. I can't praise him or his tour enough. He is such a friendly guy and really makes you feel at ease on the tour. He has a fantastic knowledge of so many different cultures and helps you experience them all. He also knows some great spots to eat and drink, allowing us to sample some lovely cuisine. He is always smiling and interacts with you on a personal level which is nice. I would recommend this tour to anybody and thanks again JD, I loved it! 10/10

5 STARS; BEST GUIDE EVER! I booked this tour through AirBnB and I'm taking the time to duplicate my review here because I really think JD is a great host. Not only is this a wonderful walking tour experience, but JD is an EXCEPTIONAL HOST. I did this tour on my first day in Delhi and it was a perfect introduction to the city. What makes this tour stand out from the others is JD himself. JD spent months tasting street food and researching the sites so there is almost nothing he doesn't know. The sites are hand-selected and the tour is very thoughtfully and intentionally structured--you can tell he really cares. The street food was delicious and JD knows perfectly how to weave in Old Delhi's culture and history. Chandni Chowk and visiting the Sikh Gurdwara were definitely hi lights--sure, you could walk through these sites on your own, but JD makes you feel at home and explains everything to you. You're getting the FULL EXPERIENCE. Again, there is little this man does not know! As I was the only guest on the day I booked, JD and I were able to really get to know each other and he's just the most lovely person. I've seen how passionate JD is about sharing Old Delhi with the world and learning from his guests in turn. But he also goes the EXTRA MILE. After the tour, JD came with me to help me get a local sim card (a 45 minute ordeal!), ensured that I was safely on my way home, and has said I am welcome to reach out to him if I have any problems or questions while I am in India. JD is also an enthusiastic, patient, and TALENTED photographer--if you want the 'gram, JD's your man! Also, as a (very obviously foreign) woman traveling alone, JD was conscious of any discomfort I had and made me feel very safe. You cannot put a dollar amount on that. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. I had a wonderful time with JD--he puts nothing but love and hard work into his tours, and it shows. When you take this tour, you come away with a glimpse of Old Delhi's history, a full belly, and a new friend! 10/10 Perfect tour

The highlight of my whole trip to India. Without exaggeration, I can say that JD is the best guide I have ever had on any sort of excursion anywhere in the world. He was so kind and thoughtful, taking us to some incredible sights and food stands that would have been impossible to find on my own. We ate so much food, some of the best street food I have ever had. By the end of the tour, my group and JD had all become good friends. This is a must do excursion in New Delhi. I guarantee this will be one of the top highlights of your trip.

I cannot say enough good things about this tour with JD! This is my first time in India and as a solo traveller I was so happy to find this tour, I felt really safe and discovered more than I could imagine! He made us discover Old Delhi and told us stories of his life! Also met amazing fellow travellers! Would definitely recommend going in this tour, you will discover so much in a small amount of time! Until next time JD :)

Absolutely great tour with an amazing guide and great and tasty food. I cannot recommend this enough. All the food places are carefully chosen and are certain to be healthy as well as very tasty. In the meantime you will learn a lot about Delhi itself, its people, history etc.

What a great experience! JD was an incredible host, taking us on a walking food / sightseeing tour in Delhi. We wouldn't have been able to do this in our own and it was a great way to see old Delhi and get a locals point of view. The food was delicious and the sights and areas were equally interesting. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone especially early on in your visit to Delhi. JD was a very gracious host, making time to talk to all parties and make everyone feel comfortable on the (sometimes busy! It is Delhi after all..) Tour. You get a real sense of some of the daily life in the old town and get some incredible photos along the trip. 6 stars! ( Instagram@foodtoursdelhi)

You’ll not experience Delhi culture or food like this in any other tour, I’m certain! JD has so much passion for Delhi history, architecture, flavors, and traditions you can’t help but have a wonderful time hearing all he has to share. Everything was excellent and safe. You’ll feel like you’re being shown around by a good friend rather than a guide.

JD took us through the hustle and bustle of Old Delhi, and took us to a number of delicious street food vendors. Zero gut issues afterwards, and we really enjoyed the Sikh temple and spice market!

We had a wonderful food tour with JD. He is a kind, funny person and it was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours with him in Delhi. My husbands family is from India, and still JD was able to show us new things we never could have seen on our own. We learned a lot, laughed together and tried some amazing food. We were also reassured that JD knows the places to go for street food in Delhi without the risk of becoming sick. Highly recommend!

This experience was incredible! Old Delhi can be very overwhelming and JD was the ideal guide. Visiting the temples and tasting all the amazing cuisines of India were so special and delicious. Spending time at the Sikh gurudwara and learning about the preparation of food was a wonderful and unexpected part of the tour. JD was an excellent host and storyteller and really makes this experience meaningful and memorable.

Let JD show you the surprisingly peaceful temples within the hustle and bustle of the old market. And yes - you CAN eat the food and not get sick (this review written by a party of 3 four days later.) JD is really a gem, guiding you through the temples and hawkers with equal ease. He has a very nice outlook on life and shares how he sees the Old City. We felt very well taken care of even as we walked around the the old alleyways, with JD facilitating all the way. He dove into the lines for food and kept us from getting hassled directly. The tour has very nice pacing with variety of sights and activities. Hearing the bells in the Jain temple, trying our hands at rolling roti in the Gudwara kitchen, and taking in the scents of the spice market wereee highlights.

The experience was amazing. JD was an incredible host and guide. Historical, cultural and epicurean! We spent around three hours exploring this part of old Delhi and JD brought it to life. From the temples to the historical sites to the tasty treats, the whole afternoon was a delight. Would recommend JD to anyone coming to Delhi. He’s top!

My fiance and I had such an amazing time on this tour!! JD is an amazing tour guide. He was on time and very professional. He made sure that we were safe and well taken care of. He explained all the food in great detail and made sure all the food was safe to eat. All the food was amazing! Not only do you get amazing food you also learn alot about the culture and history of Delhi. At the end of the tour I felt as if I'm a local. I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting New Delhi. It's a must!!

JD is one of the best tour guides I have had when traveling. Not only did he make it a personal experience, even while in a large group, by making sure to speak to each of us and learn about our backgrounds, but he also found some of the most interesting and unique food spots around Old Delhi. He was incredibly well informed about the history of old sites and food spots and was able to share his knowledge without overburdening the group. JD is also extremely friendly - after our tour, we ended up hanging out and going to see more spots around New Delhi, and we are excited to continue sharing more adventures with him. You would be remiss to not go on a tour with JD!!”

I’ve been on dozens of experiences in the past few years, but I feel that JD’s experience in Delhi is an example of precisely what a host should drive to imagine, create and execute. In a mere 3 hours you feel as if you’ve experienced several varieties of the sorts of lives that intersect in Delhi. JD accomplishes through visits to several houses of worship and the sharing of delicious morsels of local food. It’s hard to imagine how this experience could be improved. Heartily recommended!

I attended this experience after a traveling to Delhi for a friend’s wedding and it was truly once in a lifetime! I decided to book this tour due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews and it did not disappoint. I wanted some help navigating Old Delhi as a solo female traveler and the experience ended up being the best part of my trip. JD is much more than a tour guide, he truly embodies a friend and makes you feel so comfortable from the moment you start exploring with him. He went above and beyond, even helping me navigate the metro back to my hotel and communicating with me later that evening to make sure I made it back safely. I had such a wonderful time I booked his cooking class the following evening, which also ended up being a highlight of my trip! If you are thinking about booking this experience, just go for it. I wouldn’t recommend seeing Old Delhi any other way.
