Now called Rajiv chowk, this place is studded with 3 cinema halls (Plaza, Odeon and Rivoli), a beautiful central park, major international & domestic brands, good south Indian, north Indian, continental eating joints and cafe & bars which makes it Iconic, heritage and truly defines it as the heart of New Delhi. Janpath market is another attractive option to explore when in CP. NDMC parking is available in all blocks but it's price is dynamic so better to park in Multi level parking near the Hanuman Mandir. New Delhi Railway station is 500 mt away from the outer circle. CP also has fast Airport metro line at Baba Kharag Singh Marg. Hanuman Mandir, Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic Church and Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib are aother attracive attractions. Also visit National Charkha Museum which is a spinning wheel museum built garden in Palika Bazaar.

Connaught Place, or โ€˜CPโ€™ more commonly known, is an enormous commercial and business centre in New Delhi. It houses the headquarters of several prominent Indian firms and is a major shopping, nightlife and tourist destination in New Delhi. The Statesmen, Gopaldas and State Emporia buildings are situated in this circle of CP including the Head Offices of Major International Airlines, Banks, Media and so forth. As of July 2018, Connaught Place was the worldโ€™s ninth most expensive office location. History of CP The Aerial view of Connaught Place clearly depicts the way this place was beautifully and logically designed in the shape of a two radial circles namely inner and outer circles. Eight radial roads stretch out of the inner circle of Connaught Place like the wheel spokes and twelve radial roads stretch out of the outer circle of Connaught Place leading you out of this centre and connecting it to the other parts of Delhi. Who built Connaught Place Delhi and when? Robert Tor Russell designed this British Commercial centre in collaboration with W H Nicholls. It is circular and known as the largest commercial hub of its kind in India. The construction work began in 1929 and was completed in 1933. Connaught Placeโ€™s Georgian architecture is modelled after the Royal Crescent in Bath, which was built between 1767 and 1774. Why is it called Connaught? This place was built by the British during their rule in India and wasย named after Prince Arthur, the first Duke of Connaught, a member of the British Imperial family. It was renamed in 1995 after former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi, as Rajiv Chowk.

Connaught Place, located in the heart of Delhi, is a bustling commercial and cultural hub that encapsulates the essence of the city. It is a vibrant center where history meets modernity, offering a delightful experience for visitors. The architecture of Connaught Place is a fusion of British colonial influence and Indian craftsmanship, with its circular layout and white colonnades. The iconic Rajiv Chowk, adorned with a grand fountain, serves as the focal point, surrounded by a plethora of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Shopping enthusiasts will be delighted by the diverse range of stores, from high-end luxury brands to local boutiques. The bustling inner circle and outer circle are lined with shops selling everything from clothing and accessories to electronics and handicrafts. The underground Palika Bazaar adds to the shopping charm with its maze-like lanes and bargain deals. Food lovers are in for a treat at Connaught Place. The area offers a wide array of dining options, ranging from street food stalls serving mouthwatering chaat and kebabs to upscale restaurants offering international cuisines. The famous Wenger's bakery and United Coffee House are iconic culinary landmarks that shouldn't be missed. Connaught Place also has a rich cultural scene, with theaters, art galleries, and live music venues. The refurbished Central Park provides a serene oasis amidst the bustling streets, offering a place to relax and unwind. Despite its occasional crowdedness, Connaught Place remains an enduring symbol of Delhi's cosmopolitan spirit. Its historical significance, diverse offerings, and vibrant atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

the changes that have swept Delhiโ€™s majestic Connaught Place (CP) shopping district. There is no place quite like CP anywhere in the world for its combination of sheer architectural splendour and an increasingly egalitarian shopping experience. The latter of course is a product of the Indian consumer revolution that has followed the policies proposed by Singh in his July 1991 budget speech. The Connaught Placeโ€”that definite article only adds to its grandeurโ€”is, I would argue, the centrepiece of the New Delhi conceived and built by the British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. It is far more accessible, and is accessed by far more people than, for instance, the imperious Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the Indian President lives. CP, named after the Duke of Connaught after he visited Delhi in 1921, is a 1,100-foot diameter circus โ€œwith pure white colonnades, palladian archways, rounded pillars and symmetrical two-storeyed buildings", in the words of veteran architect-town planner A.K. Jain in his 2010 book โ€˜Lutyensโ€™ Delhiโ€™. Modelled after the Royal Crescent of Bath, with its imposing Georgian architecture, Connaught Place is a shopping arcade built as two concentric circles. โ€œWide verandahs were provided for shoppers to stare at show windows. A park was laid out in the centre to absorb dust and to provide a place to the shoppers to recover from the shock of high pricesโ€ฆ The white-skinned were the first to be skinned. Native aristocracy followed," Jain writes in his impeccably researched book, laced with dry humour.

Connaught Place is a frenetic business and financial hub, centered on a ring of colonnaded Georgian-style buildings with global chain stores, vintage cinemas, bars and Indian restaurants. Stalls at Janpath Market sell saris, embroidered bags and trinkets. The peaceful Sikh temple Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is known for its reflecting pool, and Jantar Mantar is a 1700s observatory with huge astronomical instruments.

Cp boasts a beautiful colonial -era architecture wit a distinctive circular design that houses a range of shops, restaurants and business it is a perfect blend of history . Connaught hub is a shoppers paradise with numerous retail stores, both international brands and local boutiques, offering clothing, electronics, jewellery and more You can explore wide variety of cuisine in CP,from Indian street food to fine dining restaurants it's a food lover's delight with option for all tastes and budgets Easy Cab/Auto Availability Good Hospitals are nearby Markets at a walkable distance NEGATIVES Many restaurants, shops and entertainment options in connaught place tend to be on the expensive side, making it less budget friendly for some people The area often experience heavy traffic congestion especially during peak hours.finding parking can be challenging and navigation through the congested streets can be frustrating. Connaught place isalways bustling with people. Which might not be ideal for those who prefer quieter and more relaxed environments. Poor Public Transport Frequent Parking Issues No Parks/Parks not maintained High Pollution
