STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE (you've been warned...) Bait-and-switch, lies, attitude, stress.... In the end, I didn't have to pay too much more than my original reservation, but the unnecessary stress they caused on my vacation just wasn't worth it. There are so many other car rental agencies right there at the airport that it isn't worth dealing with this place. I have no reason to believe Thrifty locations in any other country are any better. Also, the car the gave me was in horrible shape.... multiple dents, scrapes and missing paint on all sides of the car Also, from the sound of it, they also messed up the reservation of the people in front of me in line (gave them the wrong size car), and when I returned my car, it sounded like they didn't have a car available for someone who had made a reservation with them.

Be aware!!! I rented a car before traveling to Aruba for Christmas day. When I went to pick up the car, the woman told me that they had overbooked and there were no cars available for which I had reserved. Instead, she gave me an “upgrade”, but charged me $15 per day, which ended up being an extra $90. I ordered the car on October 24, 2021 through Orbitz for $243.45 and was charged a total of $350.22. There is no reason that I should have been charged for that. In addition, the woman would not leave her desk to come check out the car. She told us to take pictures instead. Also, the car had a flat tire and we had to immediately go fill it up. Lastly, they are not easy to communicate with. I tried to reach them by phone and email, and they refused to respond to my communication. I will not be renting with them again!

Was charged $150.00 for a scratch that could barely be seen and could have been buffed out. When we received the car it was already beat up with multiple scratches and dents, so they are apparently charging to fix damage and then not actually fixing it. Never received invoice for damages being fixed so I could not file a claim with the insurance I bought through Expedia leaving me out a total of $243.00 aside from the actual rental cost. We have been to Aruba several times, this was the first time using Thrifty and we will never use Thrifty in Aruba again.

Thrifty was an unpleasant experience. Check in took forever even though we were the only people there . The whole process took about 40 minutes. The car that we received had a headlight out, which we didn't notice until the 2nd day . Luckily we did very little driving at night , but what kind of place gives a defective car to visitiors from another country?? When I returned the car I had come straight from the gas station . The needle was on the F, which is how it was when I picked it up. However the guy who checked me in told me I was short on gas and that it should be over the F! I disputed that, but he didn't care. I told him you can try and steal an additional $11 from me for the gas (a ridiculously large amount as the car would not take more than an ounce of two more) and that was when another worker in the office said I should calm down. I replied that not only will I disputed the gas charge with my credit card company but now I'll dispute the whole charge. I would have stayed and discussed it further but I had a plane to.catch. I hope they know that they will get a negative review on every site I can find, but also I will never rent from them again .hope they don't spend that $11 all in one place!!

Do not use this service. Very disappointed. Asked for an 8am pickup time and they didn’t arrive at the desk until nearly 9am (they are on Aruban time I guess, which I am expected to be), so when it was time to return the car and I arrived at the desk at literally 4:01 pm (they are then magically on the same time as the rest of the world) they were not there and did not answer any phone calls until the next day every though their time online says that they are open until 7 pm.

Horrible customer service. We needed to rent from here in order to get a bigger vehicle than what we had originally at Enterprise. We declined the insurance when we paid the deductible because we had our own coverage. But when we returned the car they claimed it smelled like smoke when we did not smoke or have anything in the vehicle. They then used that claim to charge us a cleaning fee which was the same as the insurance that we declined originally. Would NOT recommend renting from them unless you want to pay more money in the end than you are supposed to.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS A LESS THAN 1 I WOULD. When I first went in to picking up my car at Thrifty a customer was screaming at the front desk. That was my first sign I should have not used Thrifty Aruba Car Rental at the airport. All was fine until I returned the car and I brought the car back with the same amount of gas that was given me at pick up an eighth away from full. The said, I had to have it full and charged me a penalty so for $2.00 worth of gasoline to make it full they charge me $25.00 and were nasty to boot. I do not recommend them and strongly suggest to use one the the other car rentals. As this location is independently owned and is not part of the cooperation who said they would have refunded my money.

I rented a car for 10 days. Drove to resort and back and around the island on paved roads. Upon return the agents looked over the car three times to try to find something they could charge extra for. Finally they were able to find a pencil point sized paint chip in the lower front air dam. They showed me it and I had to get on my knees and very close up to see anything. How ridiculous! They were steadfast on charging me an extra 50 dollars. I paid as they "were going to charge my credit card anyway". Seems like thrifty is no better than the unscrupulous curbside renters. BEWARE. Even with your photos, they have been told to drum up some extra charge. SHAME ON YOU THIFTY, DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR REPUTATION

They blatantly refused to honor my reservation made via Chase Rewards despite their own international reservation center acknowledging the points as payment and being shown the printed detail. They expected me to pay for the car and then get my points back from Chase. I took a taxi to my timeshare and will never set foot in AUA Thrifty again. This is something I would have never expected to experience in Aruba as I have been coming for over 35 years.

I was charged $209.00 in addition to the rental charge for damage to the vehicle during my Honeymoon back in June. I purchased a 3rd party insurance coverage policy through Travelocity at the time of booking, but in order to submit a claim I need a repair invoice, photos, and other documentation from Thrifty. I have contacted Thrifty several times without any response, same with my insurance claim adjuster. I will never use Thrifty again, and I will be returning to Aruba in December with family. You can bet we will be taking our business elsewhere.

I wish I could give them a zero. They called us liars about our return location. The agent was unnecessarily aggressive. I would not let anyone use this service and I am disappointed that it would be recommended by Blue Residences. Beware!!!!

Would put zero stars if that was an option. Had my car booked for two weeks. On the day of my reservation walked 2 miles in aruban sun to find I was the second customer of the day who would not be receiving their car they booked. If you want a car for your vacation you've been looking forward to, book through someone else.

The car rental service was absolutely horrible, and I do not recommend at all. There was rude service to the customers, and we had requested and paid for a Ford SUV but it wasn’t even available as a car. They said “don’t believe everything you see on a website” for a car! They also had an extravagant deposit charge. I will never go to Thrifty again because of the rude service, false advertising, and an hefty deposit.

We rented a premium 4x4 vehicle so that we could explorer Aruba. We also asked for full coverage insurance so that we were not responsible for anything. I did take a video of the Jeep prior to leaving the parking lot and glad I did. Upon return of the vehicle they told me the front plastic guard was not on the vehicle and they would have to charge for me for it. I told them that we got full coverage and that we had a video that showed otherwise. They told me I did NOT get full coverage and that their 2 maintenance men verified it was on prior. They said my video was too close and they could not tell. We have pictures of other Jeeps at the same distance and you can clearly see if the guard is on or not. We were told we would be contacted by supervisor to discuss charges however we have not received a call, but now I have a charge pending to my credit card. If they don't make this right I will be declining the charge through my CC company. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!

Horrible car rental company!! The car that we rented was so beat up, dents and marks all over it, the car was a couple years old and sounded like it was going to fall apart. There was a wrench light on the dash and the temp engine light kept coming on and off, told the company and they did not care!! They were more worried about getting sand in the car...hello Aruba is an island with lots of beaches!! Unbelievable...DON’T USE THRIFTY IN THE AIRPORT!!

NEVER RENT from Thrifty Car Rental in Aruba! They charged me $300 for a scratch on the passenger side door that came from someone parked next to me. Completely not my fault. I always use Avis and will do every time from now on. Never again. Do not trust these people, they are crooks! This is the video I took from the car - BE SURE to photograph your rental before leaving the lot!

I booked a van thrifty Aruba on KAYAK with Allianz insurance. When I was picking up the car, they were trying to charge me $800 for security deposit. 3 times the rental price. Really? The office person was polite and I explained to him that they should give to their customers that info in advance, not when the customer is picking up the car. They didn’t accept Allianz insurance either, so I would have to pay for insurance 2 times in order to rent a car with them. I didn’t accept the car and they told me that nobody was going to rent me a car if I don’t pay the security deposit. I went to BUDGET airport office. I rented a VAN for 8 passengers, no deposit. This was my experience renting with thrifty. Not recommended.

To whom it may concern; I had a terrible experience with Thrifty car rental Aruba and would not recommend them to anyone for many reasons. - I was forced to take their $30 per day insurance even though I had my own coverage -I was charged extra then the stated amount given on the Expedia website. I was supposed to be charged $360.98 for the 2 days, however the total ended up being $416. -the jeep had a moldy foul smell interior, we had to buy air freshener and air out for several hours -there were no floor mats -there was dirt and mud on all interior doors -had intermittent check engine light from day 1 -poor acceleration -loose roof which caused us to get soak while in the vehicle when it was raining causing the cloth seats to get wet and it was very uncomfortable, we had to buy towels to put down so we can sit -the car would not start on day 2 and we had to be assisted by a taxi. This caused us to miss our non-refundable morning tour on that day totaling over $360 - the car began to rattle at 20mph and felt very unstable, you can hear the suspension creaking and rattling. The suspension on the vehicle obviously needed servicing. -the seats would not recline -the seat belts were not working properly The poor quality of the vehicle prevented us from enjoying the island and doing all the activities on our Aruba itinerary. When we informed customer service, they showed a complete lack of concern and open hostility regarding our complaints. Instead, she stood outside the office with several staff members all laughing and criticizing us in their language (they were unaware that a member of my party was able to understand everything they were saying). In addition to all that, when I got my credit card statement, they charged me an extra $120. I disputed that with the credit card company and the merchant responded by saying the car was returned with wet seats! See the pictures below of the condition of the car when we received it

Ordered a car online 2 months before. When my plane arrived at the scheduled pick up time I was told that they didn’t have the car I ordered and would have to upgrade. As I waited in line for my car I talked to four other people who they told the same thing to. Ended up costing $100 more for the “upgrade” which basically the same car I ordered. Take a picture of the gas tank when you leave as well. Told me I owed them more money for gas that wasn’t in the car. Thankfully I had taken a picture before I left. Actually just don’t go to this company. I never will again!!

0 stars if possible! rude service, reservation price not honoured and extra "taxes" added on when the reservation clear stated all taxes are included in the price. Thrifty may be a couple of dollars cheaper than the competition, but they get you with the extra charges! And if you think that Thrifty Customer Service team will help you fix the issue, think again! This is a private location operating under the Thrifty banner and Corporate office has no power to remediate things. Book at your risk!

We had the most unprofessional & unpleasant customer service representative by the name of Dina at Thrifty rental counter at Aruba Airport both on arrival & at departure. She was arrogant and rude to customer's questions, barely wanted to provide any info. This is the first time we used Thrifty & will make sure NOT to go them again.

Check your bill before you pay. They added a supplemental liability insurance even though i refused any insurance coverage. When i asked about it both attendants said it was a tax. Now I understand it is a legal requirement in Aruba for car companies to have liability insurance as part of their fees, not an extra supplemental liability insurance like they did with me. The moral for me is, avoid thrifty in the future even if they look cheaper on the reservation. Try to rent from a company with better reviews which shows they are accountable to their customers. If thrifty thinks this is a sustainable business strategy, they have bad news coming.

The agent was kind enough to allow me to go get gas... but then tacked on the $10/hour overage charge while i waited in line for 2 people to decide if they wanted damage waivers. A grace period is good bizniz... clever overages are not. No Grace period means I won't rent again-- next time i give my $$ to a mom & pop on island instead of corporate slugs. Two days later i used Jay Car Rental off-airport & paid cash and returned the car an hour late but all good... ***The Thrifty agent was kind & hardworking but this company Thrifty has miserly policies.

Upon arrival they said we never ordered car seats (which we obviously did and confirmed the day before) once they found car seats, one was unusable and completely unsafe. Upon departure they charged us full price for 2 car seats plus an addition 250 for the car seat insurance we waived? While inside another unhappy customer arguing about over charges! Will dispute with my credit card company.

Made a reservation in February with our Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Arrived July 27 and car we reserved was not available. They offer us a small SUV/cross over type. Then they inform us that they do not accept points reservations through Chase/CxLoyalty. Tell us we would need to pay and then contact Chase to get our points back. They put a hold of $1500 on our card. We refused the rental before they wanted me to sign 4 times for something. Did not get a rental called Chase and got our points back. Moral of the story, do not use these guys.

We ordered a car rental in advanced, and we were told upon collection that they do not accept debit cards. We checked online for their terms and conditions and also spoke with thrifty on the phone before booking to see if debit cards were accepted, both sources said debit cards were accepted. Additionally, our friends who tried to rent from the same location, was told their deposit was $200, but Michael (the man at the front desk) tried to charge our friends $800 deposit for a small car. None of this makes sense when the information provided when booking gives you very different information. Michael was very unhelpful and rude.

I had an open air jeep reserved only to be given a crossover instead because the jeep had blown its transmission. When asked why I hadn’t been notified so I could cancel the reservation the desk clerk said she didn’t have the ability to make phone calls. I said well certainly the company could’ve called or sent an email because then I wouldn’t have paid $40 for a taxi to come pick up a car that I could’ve gotten from my resort. I’m equally irritated that the pickup address on the paperwork they gave me was not correct so the taxi to get the car costed more then it should. I specifically paid more and reserved a jeep so that I could go into the National park to see the natural pool. I was frustrated that they not only substituted for a crossover but also charged me a crossover rate instead of giving me a deal on a car I didn’t reserve. I would’ve preferred a cheaper alternative. Unfortunately my husband went to pick up the car.

Booked a rental car from this place weeks in advance, but after taking a cab there, they told us they had no car available for us. We were relying entirely on having a car for the second half of our trip and this place completely screwed us over. Would give them zero stars if I could.

Car itself was fine. Service was not. Website indicated office at airport was open until 10 p.m. I booked a car to pick up at 7:30 p.m. and walked 3.5 km to get it only to find out that the office was closed. Apparently office closes at 6 p.m. now though that is not noted on website. Rebooked and returned the next morning to pick up car. Male agent insisted that my credit card physical damage coverage through Visa was not applicable even though I had called my credit card company to re-confirm the day before. Also, he would not give me the price on the booking reservation and charged me a higher price. Suggested he was doing me a favour by discounting relative to their normal prices. No apologies about inconvenience re closure the night before. Very disappointing experience overall. I had to go to Avis next door to arrange for a pick up after I dropped off the car as my phone wasn't working. The woman at Avis next door was very helpful and next time I will rent from Avis, not Thrifty.

Thrifty in Aruba did not honor a reservation made through Orbitz for my car because "they had no cars",but proceeded to get a car and charged me $90.00 extra!!! This was Christmas week and the airport was packed and the other car rentals were booked. We took the car under duress and when we tried to get our money back they refused and blamed it on Orbitz! Good business would have been to smile and give us the upgraded car without problems to fulfill their commitment!!

Just say no. The gentleman I returned my car to was awesome but I was also later charged 27.50 because they said my tank was not full even though I filled up just a couple miles from the airport. Pick up experience was awful. I left there wishing I had never rented from them and was worried and hoped nothing happed to the car while we were using it. Bad experience. Hard sell for insurance even though I already purchased it. Customer service skills were non existent. Rude Don’t even waste your time with Thrifty. Bad experience. One star ⭐️ is too many.

Made a reservation for a car online before our trip to Aruba. Our layover flight got delayed and put us in Aruba around 6:30pm instead of 4pm. Got to Thrifty just after 7pm only to find they had closed at 7:00 o'clock and we were out of luck. Thank goodness we hadn't paid for the rental and we were able to just rent elsewhere.

I was told everything was ok with my rental and then I was overcharged with no explanation. I was provided with a receipt with no information but the charge. My car was delivered clean and with gas so there should have been no reason for additional charges. I called when they opened and told I had to call back in a hour and when I asked a follow up question I was hung up on and no one has still responded when I have called back.

This is my first time renting a vehicle from Thrifty and was very pleased with the price, quality of the vehicle and Customer Service. - I accidentally locked the keys in the trunk on Saturday and made a telephone call to the airport office. In about an hour someone came by to open the car for me. Overall, service was great and I would rent again from Thrifty.

Don’t rent from Thrifty Aruba. They will scam you. I prepaid for my car thru Chase Ultimate rewards and when I arrived I was told the car wasn’t prepaid and they preceded to charge me again including insurance that I refused, stating this was law they charged it anyway. They do not honor prepaid reservations. This reservation was made this past April for this past May reservation and I have been disputing with Chase and Thrifty ever since. Stay away at all cost. I gave them a 1 star but they don’t even deserve that. Terrible customer service.

Whatever you do, do not take their insurance. If you have insurance booked through another agency for cheaper, stay with it. They will harass you to take their insurance, but the one you take is perfectly fine. Also, be prepared to have at least $800 in your account to keep on hold. They place a hold of $800. If you are going to the beach, make sure to clean up before entering the car because they will charge you a cleaning fee for any little spec of sand.

Be aware of their trick to increase gas in the vehicle on return. During pickup they use a carbon copy form to note gas level but they move the bottom copy so the amounts don't align correctly. The copy they give you has a lower amount (the true volume) but their copy has a higher amount. Upon return they charge you the difference which is triple the cost at the gas station or force you to go get gas to match their copy. The representatives lack basic customer service skills.

(Translated by Google) I had a very good experience, consult for a Jeep (which for this island is very suitable since the roads of the east are sand and dirt with rocks and potholes) I had been quoted 300 dollars and they charged me 130 dollars per day. The jeep was a wrangler with 70 thousand km in good general condition. The attention was excellent. For the reservation they asked me to leave a deposit of 1000 dollars that after returning it and reviewing the state they reimbursed me in full. This location is right across from the airport so that made things a bit convenient. It was very hot and no air conditioning in the office. The car was decent but they will charge you a hefty fee if you bring it back and it has sand in it. The staff were very polite. I would rent from here again.

Yeah. Two stars because at least the rental didn’t have roaches (that actually happened to us in Ft Lauderdale). But the van stunk heavily of weed and cigarettes. Very strong. The seatbelts were incredibly stained and dirty to the point where I dreaded touching them. The pick up and drop off was pretty easy though they did end up charging us more than we were supposed to be charged when we booked online, of course.
