The only thing that is not disappointing about this hotel is the location. Everything else is disappointing. The hotel is too expensive for what you get. We spent about $400 per night and it wasn’t worth more than $200. Here is why: 1- rooms are very old. Our room, which was one of the more expensive suites with a kitchen, had a broken balcony door which let in lots of noise and cold air and we couldn’t sleep. The bathroom faucet was leaking which made sleeping even harder. A whole big wall is window, a portion of window is covered by black out blinds, but a big portion of window is covered by wooden blinds which let in a lot of lights. So every morning as soon as sun was out, we all woke up. Which is very unpleasant when on vacation. Kitchen is unbelievably old and basic. You can’t cook in there. There isn’t enough tools. We changed rooms and the new room had its own issues. 2- hotel charges you resort fee about 35$ a night. This is a hotel not a resort. Usually there are different activities or events in a resort, but nothing here. It’s literally just a hotel. And you are paying resort fee for nothing. 3- rooms are dirty. As an example, Carpets on Corner of the walls are covered by layers of dust. 4- staff aren’t friendly at all. Overall I will never stay here again and do not recommend it.

The Catamaran Resort has been our favorite hotel since our kids were little. Through the years, we have been able to enjoy different aspects of the resort as they grew up. The tropical landscaping and the resident coy fish, birds, parrots, etc. left a lasting impression on our kids. The location of the hotel, the beautiful view of the bay, beachfront rooms, boat and bike rentals in walking distance, the spa, workout facility, and the restaurant made our stay so convenient and always seems extra special. The Catamaran will always be one of our favorite resorts in San Diego

In a great location but a bit of a dump. It looks like it hasn’t been updated since it was built in the 70s. The room is dirty though the staff isn’t working with a decent base surface to begin with so I don’t know how they could clean it well anyways. The carpets are gross and feel wet and they smell. There’s a small refrigerator and it was definitely purchased in the 70s. It has rust on the side. Our tub was clogged and maintenance had to come and unclog it. So gross and full of janky disgusting stuff from the drain. After that the tub was left dirty. No maid service right now due to COVID. Bedding is soft-ish and smells clean. Restaurant has good food. Pool grill and bar is closed so you have to brink your own beverages or go to hotel bar. Overall for nearly $400/night this place is a not worth it at all.

Loved our stay! Upon arriving, I was greeted by the very friendly staff outside, and I even got compliments on my "good vibes" shirt that I was wearing. Walking in the hotel we were in awe with the waterfall and fish. The resort feels tropical with so many beautiful trees, plants and flowers. The grounds were kept very clean and all the hotel staff was super friendly from the front desk, to the bellhop, housekeeping and groundskeepers. The room had an awesome view of the ocean and the bay, it was gorgeous. The entire wall was a window! The patio was big and had two chairs. The room was spacious with great amenities, and the kitchen even had a chopping block (although my room was missing a hairdryer). The coffee maker was the only bad thing, it didn't work and low quality. We had to boil our water in the microwave every morning. Minor inconvenience. The bed was comfortable, not too soft, not too hard, and several choices for pillows. The wall art and wallpaper was a little drab, wish they would add more pops of color. The summer sunset luau at the hotel was a 10/10 (highly recommend VIP)!

My family and I vacation here every year. First and foremost, the staff is always accommodating. Secondly, my kids love the private beach. They have outdoor movie nights that are a must. We always get a room with an open patio. There are landscaped trees, a pond and animals that make you feel like you're somewhere tropical. Everything you need is within walking distance too. 100% satisfied.

This hotel is very clean. The outdoor areas are beautiful and make you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The beach was raked each morning and the view was spectacular. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We got coffee each morning at Lava Java and ate at both restaurants once each. Quality food and staff.

This is our favorite place to stay whenever we are in San Diego. The location is unbeatable with direct access to Mission Bay and across the street from Pacific Beach. The staff is friendly and attentive, also the housekeeping room service is excellent. We particularly enjoy the large pool area and spectacular tropical gardens with the resident wildlife and talkative birds. The resort offers many opportunities for a wide range of activities and provides a unique experience like no other. We look forward to our next visit to San Diego and the Catamaran Resort.

My friend and I needed a day, so we went to the spa. My package was great. I got a wrap and a massage. Mario was so wonderful, professional, and caring. I would recommend him to anyone. I felt like a new person after my treatment and the use of the facilities afterwards was very relaxing. The steam room smelled of eucalyptus and the sauna was not busy. The showers were infused with vitamin c. It was awesome. I appreciated the lounge having light snacks as my treatment went over a meal time. Overall, I loved my experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Catamaran! The resort itself is on the beautiful Mission Bay with access to kayaks, boats (you can rent) and private beach chairs/towels on the bay! Very easy to walk around the bay to access other spots nearby. The resort hosts their sunset luau on the bay, which was a lovely show and dining experience, but on the pricier side. We loved the complimentary s'mores on the bay, movie night, and snacks in the lobby everyday. The pool area was also very enjoyable especially with the live singer; as well as the free arcade games & kids club, where you can make crafts everyday. However, the pool menu is also on the pricier side. We loved that we were able to borrow beach games like volleyball and spike ball everyday from the concierge. Also, the amazing birds and parrots located within the resort and the daily free bird show! I truly felt like I was in Hawaii with how well maintained the resort was. What I loved most was the proximity to Pacific Beach and Mission Beach, where you can access the boardwalk, rides, and so many great restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting San Diego.

The location is perfect. So many activities and amenities within a short stroll. We enjoyed the bay view from our room in the tower. The grounds are lovely. The staff are wonderful. The food at Oceana was incredible. The rooms however leave much to be desired. They are in dire need of updating. I expected more for the price when it came to the rooms. We decided all of the other factors outweighed this but it is something that needs to be addressed. I hear that renovations may be under way. We will definitely come back and I hope the rooms will be updated when we do. All in all, we loved our stay at the Catamaran and created many special memories on our family trip.

A great place, location, and empathic staff. A computer outage created a delay checking in, but that's technology! The staff was greet, clean rooms, and fun amenities. Lovely location and so close to everything. Want a getaway for you and/or your family? You got it. Want to leave the resort and go to the beach, shops, and local cuisine? So easy it's incredible. What a beautiful place worth every positive review and perfect for weddings, parties, and more.

Grounds and location are amazing. Staff is great. The rooms are "clean" but so old and outdated that they are disgusting. Carpet is so old and has probably been vacuumed and washed so many times that it feels sticky/crunchy. The shower tub has been refinished so many times but it's so worn that it's peeling. Toilet is so close to the wall that your leg rubs against the toilet paper dispenser. Furniture smells, room smells like old closet/laundry room. The bed skirts are full of dirt/dander. Lighting is so dim even with all the lamps on. If they remodel this would be an amazing place.

Personally we had a great experience. My husband and I stayed with our 2 youngest sons ages 9 and 2. So much to do and see on property,always something going on. My kids loved the wildlife around the property and the talking birds. I highly recommend getting a walkout room off the beach! My 9yo climbed a tree out our back patio most of the time we were in the room! Met lots of really nice families,just an overall great experience.

Fantastic experience. My first room upon check in was next to a maintenance area and was quite noisy/small. I let the front desk know and they immediately took care of me and put me in a nicer room with a view of the garden. The service was excellent, the resort is beautiful, and the room was spacious and cozy. I would highly recommend anyone stay here!

We had a wonderful stay!

We had an amazing weekend in a Bayfront suite on the ground floor with access to their beach right from our room. We had our pup and the staff was very nice! My only criticism would be that the rooms need to be updated but they were clean! Thank you for the memorable weekend!

An oasis amongst suburbia. I felt like I was at a Hawaiian resort, with the Polynesian theme, and perfectly manicured grounds. Tucked away a block from the beach, the Catamaran was the perfect getaway, with Mission Bay out the back. My group all loved the food, drinks, koi ponds, and friendly, attentive staff. I would return here in a heartbeat.

We got off a rocky start our room wasnt ready when we arrived which is frustrating when you’ve been traveling all day but we got set up outside under an umbrella and Hopper the attendant made us feel right at home. It’s a central spot and bay side is quieter than the beach side which we loved. The hotel’s spa is very nice and the amenities are great but what’s even better is the staff. George the spa attendant brought me iced water and helped set up my chair in the hot tub area. I received an amazing massage from Todd he’s truly talented and the front desk was kind and accommodating. Amber, Margarita were very cheerful and so nice when taking care of our food and drinks thanks again to amazing staff at the resort and spa they made the visit that much better

Thursday night is half price bottle of wine night and the perfect time to visit this lovely restaurant. We started with a Caesar salad followed by the salmon and sea bass respectively. Everything was delicious and surprisingly plentiful. Such a beautiful place to dine and listen to live music performed by an exceptionally talented man on the acoustic guitar who had tremendous mastery of the loop pedal combined with a very pleasant voice. Get a reservation and enjoy your evening!!

Great place....lots of private beach space. Restaurants are nice. Bars are small but offer alot of outdoor space. There is grass and a private beach. Beautiful location

I believe this review is for the actual rental (property management company) and not the place itself. The place was good, with a few caveats (left separate review). But I was really happy with the management company. Checkout was super easy. We stayed in a cabin in New Mexico a month earlier and it took over an hour to "check out", from sheets and laundry and dishwasher etc etc. These folks were a few steps and done. Also they texted me the day of to say I could check in early (I wasn't in town yet so couldn't take advantage, but it's the thought that counts). I'd use them again for sure. Walking up and down the boardwalk in Mission Beach it seems like 710 dominates the rental market.

Great experience here overall. Great customer service and attention to customer needs. Loved the seats in the lawn over the bay. The simple walk to the ocean is also nice as most of the people traffic is minimal at that part of the beach. Easily walk to numerous delicious food places. Dog friendly and family friendly makes it the perfect get away spot for the family.

The rooms are a bit older (getting updated as we speak March of 2022). This place is almost perfect. Other than no comp daily breakfast. That would make it perfect

Attended a conference at Catamaran. The bar and restaurant on-site are good with good service. The tropical birds are also a plus! The public spaces were “okay”, but the people are good. Everyone is very kind and helpful. The resort could use some updating over all. My colleagues that stayed at the resort had rooms that are in desperate need of renovating. One colleague had a renovated room that she said is nice. I was grateful I was booked at another hotel.

Awesome hotel for families. Be sure to meet Chuck at the front. He will take care of you and he was super sweet to my kids. Clean, great location, and nice activities for kids. The birds are fun, arcade is cool, and pool/whirlpool nice. There are several bead f restaurants and the beach is a 2 minute walk. Easy access to zoo and Sea World.

We stay in vacation rental homes a lot and 710 was by far the most professional, responsive, friendly companies we have worked through. Their services are incredibly easy with text messages, all their I formation and access to hone rental is super user friendly and convenient, and heir maintenance staff is top notch. We will definitely look to make sure our future rentals in San Diego are with them!

The Catamaran is a beautiful Resort. You have a beautiful Bay with amenities on one side and the beach on the other side. The grounds of the resort are very well kept and beautiful. The service was fantastic throughout the property. The only thing that was a little rough was that we stayed on the second floor in one of the old buildings. The rooms are desperately needing to be remodeled. The carpet looked old and dirty. The bathroom was clean but old and out of date. I'm sure the rooms in the main tower were nice. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay the location was perfect and the staff was outstanding throughout!

We had an interesting stay at the resort. When we first checked in we stayed in one of the rooms inside the towers. When I say these rooms are outdated, old and crusty that is an understatement. I think the appliances were from the 50s and are considered antiques. The room had a terrible must smell and were so stuffy. I can’t imagine how filthy those carpets are, they were spongy and stained. I would expect this quality of room at a roadside $50 a night motel, not a 4 star resort paying $500 a night. After our first night we realized the wall air unit was covered in black mold, it’s one thing to have outdated rooms but this is a complete safety issue. We asked to move rooms immediately and on our third night we were moved to a renovated room. These rooms are beautiful, clean air units and fresh smell. They should not be renting out the old moldy rooms for the same price as the renovated rooms, it’s a night and day difference. We would come back as the grounds and location are amazing but only if we were guaranteed a renovated room.

We are a family of 4 with two young kids stayed at this hotel for 2 night, Dec 7 & 8, 2022. We were staying 4 nights in San Diego in total, kinda glad that we only booked for 2 night as there are not much to do at the resort during this cold weather season. Staff is friendly and polite. Room is clean except the white window blind was dusty. Shower water is not hot enough, it's warm only to my standard, that's why I would only give a 4 stars. Hot water is very important to me. With the current weather, not many activities can do with kids with this weather, also not much activity provided by the hotel on a Wed to Friday, no bird show, so it's more like a hotel than a "resort' like. Beach is clean and view is awesome, but we can't really stay out that long at the beach as it's cold.

I stayed from 8/22 to 8/25. The staff were incredible. From everyone at the front desk, to the bartenders, to the restaurant wait staff. Everything was picture perfect and made my first visit to San Diego a memorable one. I also attended one of their luaus which was a little pricey but included all you can eat food (great food too!) and lively entertainment. The saltwater aquarium at the bar is incredible! In my experience my stay was very comfortable and enjoyable and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing base camp in San Diego.

The wife and I just spent a week here and it was great. All the people were very kind and helpful There is a beach on the bay right there and 1 block away is a great beach on the ocean and lots of good places to eat The room was really nice (garden view 1st floor) great little patio (ducks would visit us) big TV , little refrigerator and a coffee maker only down side was the shower had very little water pressure . Overall a great place and would recommend.

Our personal experience was fantastic as my husband, our two youngest sons (ages 9 and 2), and I stayed at the property. There was always something exciting happening, with plenty to do and see on-site. The wildlife and talking birds were a particular hit with our kids, providing a unique and enjoyable experience. I highly recommend opting for a walkout room off the beach—our 9-year-old especially loved climbing a tree just outside our back patio during our stay. Meeting numerous friendly families made the overall experience even more enjoyable.

My husband and I stayed at the Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa for a wedding. I was nervous about our room prior to arriving, because I had read the negative reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised upon seeing our room! The decor was nice, it was clean, we had a nice view of the courtyard and it was quiet! I think that perhaps people staying in the “Tower” versus one of the more resort-style rooms had a different experience. I read reviews of dated decor, lots of dust, and general lack of upkeep! We loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone traveling to San Diego. We enjoyed the hot tub, breakfast at the restaurant and renting bikes to ride along the boardwalk.

This place is beautiful. From the tower you can see Mission Bay and the Pacific. The grounds are gorgeous, service is great, rooms are nice, parking is easy and plentiful. It's a short walk to Mission beach boardwalk and Belmont Park. The bar is a bit hidden but some people like that. Tara at the desk was wonderful. I will go back soon.

The walls and sliding doors are paper-thin. You will hear everything from the street and your neighbors. Here are some examples of what you will hear clearly. All traffic going by on the street, parties, garbage trucks, etc. (This was not a major nuisance, just an observation.) You will also hear your neighbors in the hotel. The doors naturally slam shut. You can hear men urinating in toilets. You can hear other’s alarms go off early in the morning (and don’t get turned off for 10 minutes). You can hear conversations in detail. For example, we had to overhear a whole story from a woman about how her blood pressure dropped during a massage and she nearly died. It isn’t just immediate neighbors either. Conversations were heard from a few floors above us through closed balcony doors. You can also hear with too much detail certain intimate noises. We stayed in the tower so I can’t speak for the other rooms. I do not commonly leave reviews but felt I should warn future guests. The good parts were the lovely grounds, the nice location, and the helpful staff. I called security twice because of obnoxiously loud noises (not just normal conversation) at 1 AM and 3:30 AM and to their credit, they politely intervened with the guests and put an end to it. However, it is too much to call them for normal noises and so you have to live with that. I’ve read other reviews that complain about the outdated decor and mold/mildew. Our room was clean and they are currently updating the tower rooms. However, this is all lipstick on a pig with regards to the noise problem. It leaves me to echo the sentiment that the experience is much like a motel experience at a high price.

This was a great place to stay. The house was very comfortable and decorated very nicely and very close to the beach!! Each room felt very private and can fit tons of people, but still was very comfortable for the three of us. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans and utensils. The only thing I thought could have been better was the cleaning. The cleaning company should have wiped some of the doors down a little better as well as some of the canisters in the kitchen particularly with Covid. I could still see handprints from previous guests on doors and canisters weren't cleaned properly. Also there should be basics in the kitchen such as salt, pepper and sugar. For the price there were no extras to get you started. There were seasonings but they looked pretty old. The other thing was the outdoor fireplace. The listing shows the fireplace but when we arrived, there was a sign that said it was not for use which was disappointing. I would suggest not showing this if renters cant actually use it. Outside of those things, great place. Would definitely stay again!!

The Avalon beach house is hands down our favorite spot in Mission Beach! The sunset views from the balcony are unreal. The home was beautifully furnished with everything we needed which made it extremely comfortable for our family. We loved having a fully stocked kitchen to cook our own meals in. Having a garage was a major bonus because parking can be tricky at the beach. I would highly recommended this beach house to anyone who loves breathtaking views of the ocean, beach, sunsets and pier. Our family can’t wait for our next vacation at this Avalon location!! Thank you to the 710 staff for being so helpful while planning our vacation!

We stayed at Cabrillo 2 for a few nights and it was wonderful! The house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. The views are great too. Its about a 10 minute drive to the beach but its walkable to town. I’ve stayed at other 710 Beach rentals that had more beach gear which was always very helpful. All in all though a beautiful and special stay !! Highly recommend 710 Beach rentals!!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We were three couples and the way that the townhouse is set up it allows everyone to have some private space. The kitchen is fully stocked with all you would need to prepare meals. The furnishings are nice and comfortable. The three separate bedroom suites with their own full baths was very helpful. The townhouse is around 100 steps from the beach but there is not a good view "of" the beach even from the rooftop balcony (which was also nice). It is right off of Mission Blvd and all the restaurants, stores, etc. Even though it was a bit noisy it wasn't that distracting. the managment was very responsive to EVERYTHING. Nice people, really important. quick response etc... The house was equipped with all sorts of beach equipment which made it nice, an outdoor hose so you could wash off the sand and a washer dryer to keep things neat and tidy. There is one air conditioner on the top floor but if everything is closed up, the air really makes it way down as well. The wifi was reliable. We really had a nice time and felt very comfortable. We all would like to go back again.

What a great experience with 710!! The house was clean and cozy and we got good weather and great surf to really cap off a fun trip!

loved the house. very clean great views from bedroom balcony and living room well equipped kitchen. did not have basic supplies so we had to go purchase salt and pepper, spray and etc. other places we have rented had these basic so caught us by surprise. except to see homeless people around. every morning we had a homeless person sleeping in front of the house and along the walk way during our walk. posted no overnight sleeping but no one policed it. working with 710 employees was great.

710 is very professional and communicates well from time of reservation to check-in and during our stay to make sure the stay is going well. It is so great to have the ability to text them as needed and to have an after-hours number to call if any questions. They are serious about cleanliness. The amenities at the home were a very nice touch. We have stayed at other places with other management companies or managed by owners, but none is as thorough and detailed as 710. We will stick with them in the future!

Loved our stay on the mission beach boardwalk. Perfect location, amazing condo, hot tub, jacuzzi tub, everything you could ask for so you can relax in San Diego. Will be booking through 710 vacation rentals again in the future!

The venue was absolutely terrific--very clean and comfortable. We have been super careful during this pandemic--I am in the higher risk category due to age, but the home was so pristine, we felt very comfortable. Also the response from 710 rentals was quick, efficient and very welcoming. They were extremely easy to reach and to communicate with. I cannot say enough good things about the service. We had a wonderful time and we definitely will want to rent through them in the future. We hope to return to the same venue for our next beach vacation..

I can't say enough about how much we loved this home! We stayed at Reed 854 in Pacific Beach. The location was absolutely perfect. We were 5 minutes walking distance to the beach, restaurants, boardwalk and activities and when we were done and wanted a quiet place to sleep it was only minutes to get to the house! The house itself was pristine and so spacious everywhere. What we loved the most was the upper level deck fireplace and the views. The vibe was everything we were looking for! 710 Beach Rentals staff made everything a breeze. I would highly recommend this company. We will be back!!

Not only was the place awesome but the customer service was top-notch. I spoke to three different people over the course of our researching, booking, check-in and check-out, and each was consistently patient, responsive and overall great to work with. Definitely recommend this unit but would also definitely work with 710 again for another property as well.

They were great hosts and extremely prompt with responses. The property was clean and well taken care of as well. Will definitely use them again next time we’re in SD.

We recently stayed at a beautiful, ocean front property through 710. From the minute we booked we had a 5* experience and were so impressed with everything! They assisted me with finding a company to deliver groceries, baby items and beach rentals! The house was perfect for my family and the kitchen had all the cooking and bakeware essentials we could need. They provided beach towels for us which was an added bonus that we didn’t have to pack those and having a washer and dryer was invaluable. We could not figure out the TV one day and they sent someone over within 15 minutes to help us get it working! The beds were comfy, every little detail in the house had been thought of and it was just a wonderful trip! It was truly our home away from home for a week. We would highly recommend 710 beach rentals to anyone looking for a beautiful vacation property in San Diego! You won’t be disappointed :)

We have stayed at countless rentals in the US and throughout Europe and this is the by far the best we have ever stayed at! It had everything we needed and then some. We are very particular as well. Down to the construction, where some units have shoddy workmanship, this was superior in every room. Details were looked at. The kitchen accommodations were so impressive. We lacked for nothing. The reason we prefer a unit over a hotel is we like to cook and we sure felt at home! Attention to details matter to us and we were not disappointed. Not only did we not want to get out of the plush beds, quite frankly we just never wanted to leave! Thank you for the blankets which made snuggling on the super comfy sofa just like we were home! I hope we get the opportunity to go back!

We just spent seven glorious days at this awesome oceanfront rental. We stayed in the 3501 El Carmel condo. It was just perfect for four of us. We enjoyed our mornings sipping coffee on the patio watching dolphins and surfers. We also relaxed on the patio watching daily sunsets which were phenomenal and surreal. This place was totally up to date and had all of the modern amenities to make for a comfortable week at the beach. We will always use 710 Beach rentals and thank you so much for your hospitality.

Fantastic service, room and grounds. Was a bit nervous after reading other reviews but everything was excellent. We requested a newly renovated room and my daughter and I had a blast for 4 days. The staff was so kind and all the animals were lovely! The food at Oceana is delicious and it's so easy to walk over to the ocean. Recommend!
