When my employee can't produce $53 in cash, they refuse to refund the room. So now we're out $100 for nothing. When I call to make a plea, I can barely understand the woman on the phone because her co-workers are cackling in the background.

They have rules that they don't enforce. Staff (some) are rude. It's not clean, hallways smell of mold/mildew and marijuana. Even for the price it's not a good deal. I asked for the GM,s phone number on Wednesday and was told that she could only be reached on Friday from 7-3. There is no one else to handle issues such as a dead door. I was told to stick something in the door if I need to leave. I don't care what type of situation you're in please don't stay at this place!

Most atrocious place to stay at, didn't even stay, left without even getting my money back. Oh yeah did I mention there's no refunds. That's right!! Staff members are beyond rude and nasty. Whole place needs to be shut down. But on the positive side it's a nice getaway for crack heads :) happy smoking!!!

The worst ever!!!! Needs to be updated and cleaned. Looks dirty! And they trick their employees by letting their employees live there rent free and get terminated without notice. Managers think people are trying to get over on them. If you clean the rooms then there wouldnt be an issue. Don't get caught in the trap. Don't stay there!!! Don't work there!!! And they don't deserve the 1 star I gave them, had to in order to post!

This hotel has 3 names akaza, speco and hotel I-64. The pictures online are about 10 years old. They have one washer and dyer that doesnt work. They charge you 75 more to have a small microwave and fridge. They will lock you out your room and they will take your steal your belongings. Staff is very rude and will enter your room without knocking. Guests are always calling the cops on management. They allow potheads to smoke their pot. The place is nasty. They call you on Saturday at 7am to see if you're checking out. No matter how many times you tell them how long you'll be staying.. If you can deal with your belongings smelling like cigarettes, even if you don't smoke. The smell of pot and rude ass staff. Then this is the place for you

Be aware - this "hotel" goes by the name of "Richmond Magnuson Grand Hotel" &/or "Akaza Hotel Richmond" &/or "Speco Hotel" &/or "Hotel I-64". That's right - they have *4 DIFFERENT NAMES* they might be listed under. My initial guess is to throw off potential customers from seeing the ABUNDANCE OF HORRIBLE reviews they have! That being said - Horrendous!! This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in in my life. The linens in our room were FILLED WITH OLD GROSS SET-IN STAINS. Blood stains, food stains, etc. (I provided pics) I was "assigned" this hotel via Hotwire (the first time I've ever been so turned off by the cut rate hotel Hotwire assigned me that I vow to never use the "Hot Rate" option again!) After realizing the hotel Hotwire assigned to me, I researched online. All of the awful reviews I read were well-deserved of this hotel. First off, when you check-in, there is a $50 CASH-ONLY deposit you have to give them for security. ALSO, you pay a $3 CASH-ONLY fee that's called a "tourism fee"..... Ummm.....yeah, okay. SMFH. I knew from all other reviews that these people try to stick you on the $50 deposit the next morning at check-out by trying to blame you for all the nastiness in the room THAT WAS THERE FROM GET-GO! So - we brought OUR OWN towels/wash cloths/hand towels & pillows. First thing I did upon entering the room was check for bed bugs. Then began to inspect the linens. Old set-in stains on everything. (see my pics) Stains that NO housekeeping/management in THEIR RIGHT MIND should allow to be put on clean beds. I made sure to return to the front desk to show the ladies (both named Shannon) my pictures and make sure it was noted *I* had pics and that *I* was not responsible for ANY of it. Next morning at check-out. Lady behind the desk sent an old maintenance guy up to "check" our room. SMH. Old dude came back, saying something to the lady behind the counter and I heard her say, "Yeah, well you know some people actually bring their own towels. Maybe that's what they did." I wanted to say SO BAD yeah that's what I did when I read previous reviews where people say you try to charge $10 for someone using a towel. Got our $50 "deposit" back and got out that place so fast it'd make your head spin. Quick run down of other "stuff". Front desk associates were nice enough but were dressed in regular street clothes - yoga pants & hoodies. The elevator was in extremely bad shape. And only 1 of the 2 elevators was working. There were gross very visible stains on curtains in the front lobby hallways in front of the elevators. (Like, seriously! Why are they still using linens with gross stains???) Hallway on our floor (floor 4) smelled like old industrial strength public bathroom cleaner. Better than smelling like pee or poop but barely. There was crayon stain marking all over one of the walls in our room. The mirrors looked like they've never been windexed. The tv got maybe 10 channels. Lastly - the air....... we put the cold air on high, continuous fan yet the room never got cold. When I took a shower, the heat and condensation from my shower took over the whole room. I could not imagine how hot the room would have been if it was middle of summer. So, yes, it was inexpensive. I stay in 2 or 2.5 star hotels plenty throughout the year (I'm cheap like that) so I understand "you get what you pay for". YET - I have never written a review like this in my life but I HAD to share. This place needs to be shut down. Awful, awful, awful! I am contacting the BBB as well as the Health Department about this establishment.

The staff is very friendly and helpful - but the hotel has definitely seen better days. Bed linens, towels, even toilet paper must be obtained by the residents. Trash disposal is up to the residents - into a dumpster behind the building. If you have a problem with yellowjackets, don't go there. The rooms have TVs - but neither a microwave or refrigerator. WiFi is provided - but BYOI is a good idea, if you really want to access Internet reliably. The rooms are clean - but musty. Cleaning is up to the residents too. The window in my room was the best feature - it offered a great view of West End Richmond. 9/17/2018, a view that I hope to never see again - Western Richmond tornado clouds. The front desk clerk is subject to the whims of the manager. If the clerk allows helping you out by holding some of your luggage for a few hours - as many hotels will do, after you check out, do not accept.. The manager rudely screamed at me, over the phone, that I should remove my luggage - immediately - and threatened to dispose of it at Goodwill. (conveniently located several blocks away). I give it one star, for the friendly and helpful non managerial staff. Zero stars for everything else. This is where you go, when you have no other choice. I'll not go back.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DO NOT GO HERE! This place is FILLED with roaches and bed bugs. If you check rooms on the first floor you will see old equipment in a a tub that is black! They don’t provide any linens, bath tissue, wash cloths, towels, batteries to remote, NOTHING! The staff are very rude and only accept cash! This hotel has so many names to it because of its bad reputation. There are absolutely NO amenities open to guests. I wouldn’t even recommend going here if you are homeless it is not worth it & you will regret it. Take the reviews for what they are & RUN!

It was a trash dump, it stunk, very dirty, beds were small and top blanket was dirty, room was hot, we asked to switch rooms but they wouldn't, we asked for refund they said they don't do refunds. We were there for 2 minutes and couldn't get a refund. Internet said they had pool and it did look very nice, but the pool was closed for remodel, lady at counter had her leg up on chair with a dress on and was showing one butt cheek to everyone that passed by. With refund or not we still left the hotel and went to another.

This place is 100% unprofessional. Called and confirmed 15 times at least. The price was 225 for 7 nights. The ad never said that the place was "unfurnished" meaning we had to buy our own sheets for the stay, buy our own toilet paper and fight the national brigade of roaches just to get to the room. They kicked us out after telling us 5 people couldnt stay in the room, even though the front desk agent that showed us the room knew there was 5 of us. The real kicker was THEY KICKED US OUT AFTER 2 HOURS AND GAVE US 0$ BACK. They called the police on us after we asked for the money back and the police officers said they get several calls from the staff a week AND THEY DID NOT have a problem connecting us to someone that would help us. The police were the most helpful. They said this place takes peoples money all the time in this exact way. These people are frauds and slum lords. The frint desk agent said that he lives there on the 7th floor and was covered in bed bug bites. All we wanted to do was get some sleep and we ended up broke and hungry. DO NOT STAY HERE.

My apartment complex placed us here for one night because the electricity in our apartment had to be worked on. We left around 2 in the morning because of bed bugs. The place is gloomy looking, smells like a bad cigar lounge, a/c in the room did not work. To make matters worse, it's been 2 weeks and they still haven't given me my $50 deposit back.
