Nice spot in the center of town featuring tons of indoor attractions next to the plaza. You'll find everything here from street performers to vendors, to tourist info, to really good smelling flowers. The bus ticket office is also nearby. You're almost certain to visit when visiting Santiago.

Worth the visit but be aware of your belongings. The staff in the mall nearby reminds me staying the right side of the plaza and it is safer. You will find lots of policeman in this square.

One of the icons from Santiago de Chile. Lots of the history of this country was related to this place. People here were very kind. The place is very safe to walk around with no major concerns. It can take you ten minutes up to a full day, depending your interest on the very rich history from Chile.

All South American have a plaza in which their historical heroes are exalted. Lots of local people dwell around this plaza. Caution and awareness are always recommended.

There are just so many historical buildings around this plaza that it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the city of Santiago and you want to experience a little bit of Chilean history. If you come on Sunday, it's rather quiet because all the surrounding shops and businesses are closed. But if you come on any other day it is busy, packed with people and full of activity. Around the square, I do recommend that you visit the cathedral of Santiago, maybe one of the museums and then the nearby restaurants that serve up some awesome hot dogs "completos" for lunch!

Pretty nice place to hang out. It was really packed, we were there in a Saturday. So it’s better to go there on a weekday.

If you like to walk the streets for souvenirs and food, then this is the place for you. We walked from Plaza de Armas to Mercado Central for king crabs and they were fresh and delicious. We also had some other dishes as well. This is a fun place to visit.

Seems to be a great focal point for meeting people with plenty of seating within the central area of the square. A number of fine looking buildings bordering the square.

Though it has some nice buildings, definitely it is not the placel that you are looking for in Santiago. Not safe, girls offering their 'services' even early in the morning...

Beautiful square and relatively safe to visit. Carabineros (police) are present throughout the perimeter. The architecture and history of Plaza de Armas is a must-see when in Santiago.

Very well maintained central park with lots of benches and shady spots to relax and people watch. It was very busy on a Sunday. Surrounded on all sides by gorgeous buildings and lots of statues and with a noticeable police presence to keep things safe. Various food and drink vendors are dotted about should you need a snack, but mostly junk food.

Beautiful and charming. There are museum and metropolitan cathedral and many restaurants and cafes around it. It's quite interesting to sit and chill here a bit.

A beautiful structure at the center of Santiago. We'll worth a visit for those interested in the history of the catholic church in Chile.

Lovely Cathedral, very busy plaza, lots of stores, unfortunately the National Museum was closed. The grounds were dirty, lots of paper, bottles, etc. I was warned to hide the phone and camera, All went well, and nobody was trying to rob me. If the grounds were cleaner, I would have given it 5/5.

The park at Plaza de Armas is nicely designed and looks amazing. But unfortunately a lot of suspicious people are at this place...selling ice out of cooling boxes. Also the oldest business is very active. Be careful with your personal belongings as also thiefs are present.

Lively square at the center of town with a large cathedral, some interesting statues and a very intriguing mix of old and modern in the surrounding buildings. There are plenty of benches where to sit and chill and listen to live music by street performers. Lots of cafes on the square itself and on the surrounding pedestrian streets. As it gets crowded, just beware of pickpockets.

Iconic square in the old downtown Santiago area. It gets pretty crowded during the weekends. It is closed to most vehicle traffic.

It is a good park with a lots of historical buildings in it. It attracts a lot of local as well as tourists. Locals come to play Chess and Draft as well as skate Boarding and skating etc. I heard there is quite a menace of pick pocketing, phone snatching and opportunist thieving etc. So one has to be extra careful around here which gives bad name to such a beautiful place.

Just your average Plaza. Might be more interesting if you read up on the history first but nothing spectacular.

This square seems to be quite a popular place. You can walk up from the city center and there are quite a few things around it. Its worth a visit.

Interesting place to walk around and see and/or buy handcrafted souvenirs made by local artisans. The Plaza is surrounded by many other points of interest, like the Museo Histórico Nacional, the Catedral Metropolitana, the Monumento al Pueblo Indígena, etc. There are also many restaurants and shops surrounding the Plaza.

It is a land mark from Santiago. There we could see the cathedral and the famous post office. There are so many museums but I could just go to pré-colombiano one. The famous sight And the statue of Pedro de Valdivia are there so it is a must-go place!

One of the historic places in Santiago. The park is big and has a lot of possibilities to sit down. You find the tourist information there, as well as the cathedral and some other places. The most relevant parts of the park are in my opinion the maps at the floor which can be easily overlooked next to the statue.

The cathedral is worth the time to visit. It is gorgeous! There are a ton of activities to wander around and enjoy. While we were there, there was an art exhibit with artists painting while you watched. If you have young children be cautious and aware of the "available women"

Plaza de Armas offers a blend of the past and the present. You will see a range of architectural styles side-by-side, along with monuments of prominent Chilean historical figures. We were advised not to carry any valuable items and to be vigilant, which is a good practice when visiting popular tourist areas anywhere in the world. There were several police cars present for security, and our group felt safe. Tourists and locals enjoyed walking around the Plaza and sitting in the shade of the trees. It was an easy walk around the well maintained paved area.
