This is one of the most famous temple in Pune. It is a must visit temple. The temple is small. It is really difficult to find parking near the temple. I will suggest come with a driver son he can park it or stay in the car. There are pay and park facilities but they are also full or far from the temple. You can take VIP pass from the temple or online as there is very long queue for darshan.

Such is the aura of this place that you get immediately attracted by the divinity of Lord Ganesha . A famous temple of historical importance in Pune city . The Mandir is clean and very systematic for the devotees . Many people from far flung areas pay homage at this place as Lord Ganesha here fulfills everybody's wish . Balgangadhar Tilak started his Ganpati Utsav from this place only which revolutionised the masses in Indian freedom struggle .

The temple is a beautiful construction and boasts a rich history of over 100 years. Jay and Vijay, the two sentinels made of marble catch the eye of all at the outset. The construction is so simple that all the proceedings in the temple along with the beautiful Ganesh idol can be seen even from outside. The Ganesh idol is 2.2 metres tall and 1 metrewide. It is adorned with nearly 40 kilos of gold. The devotees of Lord Ganesh offer Him gold and money and with every offering the Lord gets richer and richer. Moreover, heaps of coconuts offered to the deity are yet another feature of the temple. Daily pooja, abhisheka and the arti of Lord Ganesh are worth attending. The lighting of the temple during the Ganesh festival is marvelous. Shrimant Dagdusheth Ganpati Trust looks into the maintenance of the temple. The temple is situated in the centre of city, local shopping market is also the nearby temple. Various cultural activities like music concerts, bhajans, and Atharvasheersh recitation are organized by the trust.

If you're in town, you must visit this temple. It has a really good vibe and the Ganpati idol is amazing. When you go inside, you feel a positive energy that's really nice. The Ganpati idol is peaceful and makes you feel respectful. The temple is important for spirituality, and there's also delicious food nearby. You can try so many tasty things that smell and taste great. After you finish, there's another temple for Mahadev when you leave, which is even more special. Everyone should go and visit this place, it's really worth it.

MUST visit this place at Pune and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. There is a quick darshan, darshan pass counter and free Darshan as well (Entrance/ Line starts from the left side when facing the temple) You can offer flowers and sweets to Ganesh. Lots of sweets shops available on the left side of the temple. On Tuesdays, one might find lengthy queue and waiting time varies during the day. Free shoe stands are also available. The temple is well decorated and on your way out you can purchase Ganesh idols and other gift articles from gift shop. Phones are allowed inside however, Photography is not allowed. Ladies also perform special puja inside. Recommendation: ✓ For tourists: Can first visit Shaniwar Wada, then Ganesh temple and later explore nearby LAXMI market.

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir is the most renowned Ganpati Mandir not only in Pune, but in overall Maharashtra. Despite the fact that people visit here daily in thousands, & during festivities in lakhs. Always a good experience visiting this temple. But, with everything at its best here, there's just a minute change required for the better convenience in Darshan for the devotees. Speaking of the festive days, the experience here gets uneven. The management surely is doing a great job there, arranging, planning & everything. But, as a devotee it feels too annoying to not even get proper darshan of Bappa, hardly 2 seconds of darshan & we're out. They just rush us too fast to just get a running glimpse of Bappa even from the closest allowed Darshan. That's the only thing a bit off about the management. Else, if there's no rush, obviously there's good time for Darshan. But, just that there's a genuine request if they can anyhow make some more effective organization/management to make sure that a single devotee should atleast get a proper 5-6 seconds of Mukh-Darshan of Bappa. The people will surely come in numbers, making it tougher for everyone to take the Darshan. But, whomever will have it, will have it satisfactorily. & Whomever might miss can anyway see through the glass panel on the main door of the temple. Hope that this message goes in the way it should. Would be appreciated to see if there are changes in the Darshan process. Thanks & Regards.

This is a famous temple of Lord Ganesh located in Pune City. Temple is governed by Shreemant Dagadusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganapati Trust. This Place is too congested and there is a parking problem so think before visiting the temple with your vehicle. The temple have a facility to accept the payment for quick Darshan (Worshipping) (NOT WORTH IT TO MY EXPERIENCE but it's still upto the visitor). Temple Timings:- Open:- 6:00 AM Morning Close:- 10:30 PM Evening The lord Ganesh Idol construction is good and boasts a rich history of temple over years. City:- Pune State:- Maharashtra Country:- India (भारत)

The world famous temple of Pune. I visited today as Ganesh Puja is going on. They did good arrangements this time keeping Covid in mind. You get entry through one street and exit through other. It's one way even for people walking on road. You can't go inside temple, get in queue and have darshan from road only.

This is one of the oldest and the most famous Ganpati in Pune. Situated in Budhwar peth, it is close to Shaniwarwada. Tulshibag, famous for street shopping among women and ABC chauk, famous for book shops are close to this Ganesh temple. On Chaturthi and weekends, it is always crowded, so try going early in the morning.

On 26/01/2024, a lot of crowd showed up as is expected on a public holidays! The temple management was completely expecting the same, was prepared for everything. Yet the rush was too much to handle as it took more n more time to do proper felicitation. Lovely place! I would love to visit again someday. Hopefully on a weekday with less of a crowd.

The famous Ganapati temple requires no introduction. Must visit place in Pune. If you are planning to visit by car, plan your visit for early morning or late night so that you can park your car near temple. It’s located in densely populated and busy market area. If you plan to visit in day time, it’s better to park your vehicle well before the temple area as you won’t get any parking space in day time, hence, plan to visit early morning or late night. It open upto around 10.30 pm.

Very nice temple...... You can find peace over there if you visit except sat, sun, and tue. On the remaining days of weeks, if you visit the temple then you can spend more than in front of Ganpati Bappa. It's very nice to sit in front of that idol and experience the good vibes.

The Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati temple in Pune is dedicated to the Hindu god Ganesh. The temple is visited by over hundred thousand pilgrims every year. The temple celebrated 125 years of its Ganapati in the year 2017.Shrimant Dagadusheth Halwai and his wife Laxmibai was a Lingayat trader and sweet maker from Karnataka and settled in Pune. After he gained fame as a halwai, that became his surname. His original halwai shop still exists under the name "Dagdusheth Halwai Sweets" near Datta Mandir in Pune. Eventually he became a successful sweet seller and a rich businessman. In the later 1800s, they lost their two sons (Ram and Lakshman) in a plague epidemic. Later, as they did not have any heir, Dagdusheth adopted his nephew Govindsheth (born 1865) who was 9 years old at the time of their death. Govindsheth was born in 1891 in Pune. He replaced the first Ganesh idol by a new one, with the first one still being present at Akra Maruti Chowk . A kind-hearted and generous man, he established one more Ganesh idol in wrestlers training center, which is called Jagoba Dada Talim. This talim was owned by Dagdusheth as he was also a former wrestling trainer. One of the chowk (area) in Pune is named Govind Halwai Chowk, after him. Along with his mother, Govindsheth handled all the programmes like Ganesh Utsav, Datta Jayanti and other festivities. The residence where they resided is now known as Laxmibai Dagdusheth Halwai Sansthan Datta Mandir Trust. Laxmi Road in Pune is named after Laxmibai Dagdusheth halwai. Govindsheth died in 1943. His son Dattatray Govindsheth Halwai, born in 1926, was the one who established the third Ganesh idol replacing the second. This idol, known as Navasacha Ganpati, is the one that is present today in the Dagdusheth temple. Lokmanya Tilak and Bhausaheb Rangari, the Indian Nationalist leader and a contemporary of Dagdusheth, were close friends of Govindsheth. Tilak saw Govindsheth's dedication and also the construction of the temple, and it was here that the idea of celebrating public Ganesh festival struck him. It proved to be an epoch-making event in Indian history.

Nice place if you are a spiritual person, though its situated in a very crowded place. Never plan to go their with your own vehicle, parking is a big challenge in that area. Public paid parking is quite far, so better to go buy auto, taxi, bus, etc.the most endearing deity to the devotees. Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati is the epitome of pride and honor to the city of Pune. Devotees from every part of India and the world come here to pray to Lord Ganesha every year. Today, Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Mandir is not only one of the most highly revered places of worship in India but an institution that is actively engaged in social welfare and cultural development through Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust. The temple speaks of a long and glorious history. The deity of Lord Ganesha was incepted by Shri Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife Lakshmibai way back, when they lost their only son to the plague epidemic. Every year, the Ganpati festival was celebrated with deep faith and enthusiasm, not only by Dagdusheth’s family but the entire neighbourhood.

The history of this temple dates back to an astounding 130 years! Built by daggu Seth halwai who owned a large sweet shop here. As fate would have it, they lost their only son to the plague epidemic. It was then that they met a compassionate sage who asked them to build a Ganesha Temple in Pune not only for the welfare of his own family but also the world. Years later, when Lokmanya Tilak started the practice of organising annual Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra, Dagdusheth Ganpati gained fame as the most adored deity in Pune. Today the best part is the maintenance and that you can witness the lord from the road. The shrine is open from 6 AM to 1 PM. However, the temples remains open throughout the day and night during Ganpati festival. The mid morning hours and afternoon hours is the best time to visit the temple without facing heavy crowd. Expect more crowds on Tuesdays and the weekends. There is parking anywhere but can keep shoes safely in the left side lane/show stand. The authorities try their best to maintain covid norms.

One of the most divine places in Pune 🙏 You cannot miss out to visit Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir on your visit to Pune. Its always crowded hence its advisable to visit early morning.. Photography is not allowed inside. The Ganesha idol is extraordinarily beautiful! Lot of shops around the temple sell small idols and frames of the same.. Avoid going by a 4 wheeler. Rickshaw or a 2 wheeler is advisable as it is located in the heart of the city..

+ One of the oldest built temples, this is a beautiful work. + We visited during the holiday season and still have a good number here. + Really nice and quiet place. + There were separate queues for men and women. + There was a holy and happy atmosphere. + The premises were nice and clean. + Special area is reserved for removing slippers and shoes and keeping bags. + Safety protocols are very strict, due to this bag scanning is done here. + Photography is not allowed.

It is very famous temple of Lord Ganesh in Pune. That place happened to be Dagdu Sheth's Chawl and they used to do Ganesh Sthapana and Visarjan every year. Some years before, they decided not to do Ganesh Visarjan and since then Lord Ganesh darshan is available to the devotees throughout the year.

Tatyasaheb Godse, then in his early youth, was a zestful participant in the celebrations. In later years, when Lokmanya Tilak made Ganpati festival a public celebration to bring people together for the freedom struggle, Dagdusheth Ganpati became the most respected and popular idol in Pune. In 1952, the responsibility of organizing the festival at Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple officially fell upon Tatyasaheb and his group of friends. Under Tatyasaheb’s able guidance and leadership, his associates like Mamasaheb Rasane, Adv. Shankarrao Suryavanshi and K. D. Rasane planned and executed the festival with meticulous planning and professionalism, and since then, there was no looking back for them. As generous donors and devotees contributed towards the temple fund, Tatyasaheb and his friends thought what better way to worship the Lord than to serve our own fellow beings. Soon, the young motivated group took the activities of the festival and the temple beyond traditional worship, into the domain of social and cultural development. Besides a rich religious schedule at the temple, they engaged in addressing the social and political problems of the state. Under the aegis of Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust, they started several social initiatives including educational and financial support to deprived children, micro finance to small businessmen and vendors through Suvarnayug Sahakari Bank, old age home, rehabilitation of workers working at brick kilns to name only a few. Today, by Lord Ganesha’s blessings, Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust has flourished into a veteran organization that is gratified to worship the Lord through its service to humanity.

The Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati temple in Pune is dedicated to the Hindu god Ganesh. The temple is visited by over hundred thousand pilgrims every year. Devotees of the temple include celebrities and chif ministers of Maharashtra  who visit during the annual ten-day Ganeshotsav festival. The main Ganesh idol is insured for sum of ₹10 million (US$130,000).The temple celebrated 125 years of its Ganapati in the year 2017. 👉 If you want to go to Dagdusheth temple, go by wet cap or auto without going by your own car as there is a problem to park the car there. There is a parking lot but it is far from the temple.

The devotees of Ganesh offer Him gold and money and with every offering the Lord gets richer and richer.Daily pooja, abhisheka and the arti of Ganesh are worth attending. The lighting of the temple during the Ganesh festival is marvelous. The temple is situated in the centre of city. You must do visit this place.

Systematic way of worshiping is implemented, police usually surrounds the temple. Shrimant Dagadusheth Halwai and his wife Laxmibai was a trader and sweet maker settled in Pune. His original halwai shop still exists under the name "Dagdusheth Halwai Sweets" near Datta Mandir in Pune. Eventually he became a successful sweet seller and a rich businessman. In the later 1800s, they lost their only son in a plague epidemic. They were approached by a compassionate sage who advised them to build a Ganesha temple in Pune.[6] Later, as they did not have any heir, Dagdusheth adopted his nephew Govindsheth (born 1865) who was 9 years old at the time of their death. Govindsheth was born in 1891 in Pune. He replaced the first Ganesh idol by a new one, with the first one still being present at Akra Maruti Chowk. It proved to be an epoch-making event in Indian history.[7]
