Inexpensive well kept and nicely displayed art. Pleasant decor of pastel wall coverings. Unfortunately the lighting (from natural outside lighting) and glass covered paintings make viewing less than desirable. The descriptions are in German but with Google translator imagery this is easily overcome

Schackgalerie was a real find. Only 4 euros and I had the entire place to myself. I can only think that nobody knows it's there. A super collection of 19th century German painting - some from the Neues Pinakothek that is currently closed. Great if you like this sort of thing!

What a great find - full of german artists' work. It's a great gallery, just a few minutes from the Fredens Engel. The collection is over 3 floors, but is not overwhelming - on a Sunday, it was only 1 euro entry fee. A great way to spend a few hours.

Made a Sunday tour, with 1 euro entry. My aim was to see Lenbach paintings. Meanwhile discovered other German artists and works from 19th century. Definitely, es lohnt sich!!!

Great collection of art, I really enjoyed the exhibition. It's also very versatile, you can find many different styles of painting of different era's I do recommend it, quite enriching 🎨

No wonder there is no one there. Boring 19th century art. Very unfriendly lady at the cash register. And then, why don't public holiday tickets cost like Sunday ones? And, of course, Google maps working hours are wrong for today. Skip it.

Cute little museum. Affordable with a coat check. This old building has three floors of gallery and assistance all around to answer any questions. Many German artists here at this specific museum.

Got a great collection of landscape paintings and titzian copies. Entrance is fairly cheap too!

Fair collection but not a very big museum. You may want to come on Sunday when it is only €1 as not worth to pay so much for this size of museum if for a casual visit.

Somehow off the beaten track. Quiet. Well worth a visit.

Very beautiful art! It was very quiet and there weren't a lot of people. Would definitely recommend!! You can only pay cash there, so if you don't have that, I'd recommend getting tickets in advance.

Most captions are in German but pointing at them with Google Translate does the trick.
