Corporate just doesn’t understand their market. They moved into a very liberal and democratic city and neighborhood, then made an executive decision to cancel all yoga classes, laying off all yoga staff with a 1-week notice, without reaching out to members about this decision (not very democratic). Yoga classes were busy enough that we were requested to reserve a spot in advance so that they don’t become too full. Every yoga class we’ve been to has been full and awesome. They removed 1/3 of their product offerings and increased prices nearly $10/mo. Classic corporate money-grab. Movement: do better.

I'm a new climber (I've been climbing since around September or October) and I joined in early November. I thought the sauna made it a better deal than the local competitors since they were the same price. I was also getting back into yoga after a few years away. However... 1) The price ended up increasing around $10 to $98/mo beginning in December (not January, as the email stated) and 2) The yoga classes were abruptly cancelled Unfortunately, the sauna isn't enough to keep me around for that price. Plus, there are no auto-belays to climb alone with, even at the Lincoln Park location. As a result of these things, I've ended my membership for now.

Me and my friends loved this place. It's pretty huge in a great way. I liked the fact that they've great selection of regular gym equipments to work out and super spacious. This place had a different grading system than my novice experience with climbing gyms, but wasn't a problem after the first few minutes. I'd totally recommend this place as a Bouldering gym.

Easily my favorite climbing gym in the Chicago area! All Movement gyms are wonderful, however this gym is especially inclusive and friendly. The staff is always kind and helpful and I love climbing here! Note that this is a bouldering-only gym (with the standard yoga and gym rooms also), but no top roping here. The bouldering is ON POINT with two huge floors and plenty of routes to climb. And not just challenging routes. Movement Wrigley has a ton of beginner and inclusive routes for all skill levels for any body! As a fat and queer person, I feel especially welcomed here. Thank you Movement Wrigleyville!

Place was awesome! Staff were nice, and if you go for the first time, you get a week free. Space is large and has multiple floors. There is space for working out as well as climbing. There was even a sauna and large changing rooms. Walls were modern and new, setting was modern. Lots of different holds of varying sizes. The routes were graded based on the color of the holds. Mats were soft. Location was great, though not much cheap parking. Atmosphere: 9/10 Holds: 9 Setting: 9 Mats: 7 Facility: 10 Customer service: 8

Great bouldering routes and workout area. However, the padding doesn't have very much "give" to it compared to other gyms. This makes the higher routes sketchy. I recommend bringing your own crashpad(s) because they don't provide them for you.

This is a good gym. Their route setting has gotten MUCH better since they changed to a new head setter. The gym is super clean, the weights and locker area is great, and the yoga is exceptional. I do still think there is room for improvement on the route setting, but it’s good nuff for me

Such a great indoor climbing facility! Not too crowded and the price points are very affordable. Would come back again!

I've been coming for the gym almost exclusively. Lots of modern equipment, space, and a decent amount of programming - though I've yet to take advantage of any of it. The facility is well taken care of from what I've seen. And the staff are plenty friendly. Very reasonable rates and guest policy to boot. Would recommend all the way around.

They never brought back the spray wall and it was the only reason I chose this gym over FA uptown. I couldn’t train on the training walls since there’s a steep curve for finger strength. The spray wall was my in between training tool to work on my finger strength, create my own climbs, and work on technique. It doesn’t seem like they’re planning on bringing it back so i’m considering canceling my membership. Also there’s still some comp climbs from october that’s still up? I’m honestly very confused as to what’s happening with the setting.

I used to consider movement a second home, thanks to its wonderful community, dedicated instructors, and welcoming front desk staff. It has been a core part of my time in Chicago, offering a perfect blend of fitness classes, climbing, and a supportive atmosphere. However, since the yoga and fitness classes gotten taken away, I have since cancelled my membership. These packed classes were a vital part of my daily routine, providing the motivation to get out of the house and stay active. It's disheartening to see such a greedy move prioritize profits over the diverse needs of the community. The front desk staff and instructors, who are the backbone of this gym, remain exceptional. As much as I cherished my time at this gym, I felt compelled to cancel my membership. It's disheartening to witness a place that once embraced holistic fitness lose its balance due to corporate decisions. I have zero faith that they will bring back these programs and if they do, they’ll be outsourced to lower paid staff.

Cancelled my membership after they got rid of their fitness and yoga classes without providing a timeline for when they would be reinstated. The price is absolutely not worth it just for climbing and access to gym equipment especially compared to other gyms in the area. The staff is absolutely wonderful and this one star rating is solely for the idiotic executives at this company that don’t care about the gym, the staff, or the community who once enjoyed coming here. If you are considering joining, save your money and join the other climbing gym that hasn’t been bought out yet by a private equity firm.

I have nothing but great things to say about the staff at Movement LP. The front desk team is incredibly helpful and kind. The fitness, yoga, and climbing instructors are engaged and knowledgeable. The routesetters are passionate and creative. The youth coaches are energetic, lively role models that you know truly care about the kids. It is with upper management that I have a problem. A few weeks ago, Corporate Movement abruptly cancelled yoga + fitness programs in the greater Chicago area, promptly firing over 30+ fitness and yoga instructors citing "underperformance". This decision came only days after Movement Chicago raised membership prices while still advertising yoga + fitness. However, these classes were widely popular and anyone in the Chicago region who attended these gyms would know that they were not the problem. These classes were always at full capacity, run by some of the most wonderful instructors in Chicago. To reiterate what an earlier review stated: " They also have noted that they won't be rehiring any staff that have been terminated in which they would have to reapply for their roles if they choose to return to work for Movement. Not to mention the continued silence and poor communication with members around this whole situation." This decision to cut yoga + fitness is an appalling one. One that has left 30+ people out of a job during the Christmas season. These people are more than just instructors or former coworkers to me: They are pillars of the climbing community. I would have none of my amazing relationships in Chicago without the yoga + fitness programs, and I know that countless others have relationships like this that would not exist without these classes. In cutting these programs, Movement have not just lost amazing people: they have destroyed a community that I hold so close to my heart. I (and many others) look forward to cancelling my membership and never climbing at this location again. Go check out Brooklyn Boulders or First Ascent instead.
