The best of best in architecture. Very pleasant place to visit and a best tourism point. The laser show after the visiting hours is the greatest attraction for the temple. *MUST WATCH* Has a great view of the sun chariot and a great display under lights. Has parking place around the temple and is ample for many cars. Also has nearby cottages for night stays.

Loved the place. Popularly known as Black Pagoda. It is an architectural masterpiece. We must visit this place at least once. This temple is dedicated to God Son and his wives though many major structures are destroyed and some weathered with time yet many parts are well preserved and maintained by Government. This place will remind of India's glorious history and the talent it had from ancient times. This temple is in a chariot shape with 12 wheels in total with extra ordinary carvings and fine work. This chariot wheel was used to know the time ⌚in ancient times and this is not any myth you can see this yourself, the guides there will explain the process. This signifies how well we were aware of scientific use of material things from ancient times. Overall this place is a must visit place.

Sun temple is amazing, I visited recently in January 2024 and visited 20 years back.. The temple has its own history of creations and demolition by Britishers. There's is tickets to charge nominal charges not sure for Foreign tourists. Better to hire guide to know the history well about it but should not pay more then 400-500 as per your group. Approx visiting time 1-2 hour , you will complete the whole walk around in Max 2 hours. Shopping is interesting on the way but do negotiation at the best. Got to know may be renovation will start soon and temple will be open again.

The temple is worth a visit and is under restructuring. Situated near the coastline it also gives an opportunity for people if they want to go here and pay a visit to enjoy the sea too(the sea is almost 1 km) away. If you want good food please visit the restaurant just opposite to the temple under Indian oil campus.

The Konark Sun Temple amazes with its remarkable architecture, boasting intricate carvings and exceptional craftsmanship. Its design depicts a chariot dedicated to the sun deity, Surya - truly breathtaking! The sculptures that adorn it relate stories of mythical events as well as historical ones; providing an insightful glimpse into India's vast cultural heritage. Yet further maintenance may be necessary in order to ensure this site retains its invaluable historic importance for future generations. All things considered, enthusiasts of history and art should certainly visit this awe-inspiring temple without fail!

An amazing place with wonderful architect. You will surely love the beauty of this place. The ambience will take you to the good ancient times. One has to take ticket to enter into the Sun Temple. Ticket can be taken from the ticket counter. Sometimes usually on Sundays, there is a long queue so in that case i will suggest to take the ticket online to avoid the long queue also the online ticket is relatively cheaper than offline ticket.

One of the best place to witness the pinnacle of odisha art and medieval Indian art in general. Though everything is written, guide is needed for first time visitors. Inscription arts are second to none, deeply rooted in Indian way of life of that time. The famed wheels and many more objects are worth seeing in one's life. Due to structural issue going up in the monuments are prohibited except the first one, which was dedicated to dance and music.

No need to explain about this place it is worth visiting. One suggest try to understand the architecture and enjoy the stone art , don't just spend all your time by taking photos, else it will be just a tourist place for you. Spend some time to enjoy the stone art , sculpture and temple view. I think best time to visit will be after 4 pm or morning time.

An UNESCO World Heritage site, the Sun temple is dedicated to God Surya. When we visited the temple, there was long queue for entry ticket. We hired a local guide for an hour tour at Rs. 350, who bought the tickets for us. Lots of history associated with this temple, which is nice to learn. The temple has an expansive and clean premise. The temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. Most part of the temple is now in ruins condition. It is good to see that Archaeological Survey of India is trying hard to maintain and restored the damaged portion of the temple. Entry to temple is closed since long and presently even access to temple stairs is closed to avoid further damage of the temple. The structures and elements that have survived are famous for their intricate artwork, iconography and themes. A must visit to learn the history and witnessing the ancient artwork.

Sun Temple is a mesmerizing cultural gem, offering not just daytime splendor but also enchanting night shows, weather permitting. The spectacle under the night sky adds an ethereal touch, creating a unique experience for visitors. However, rain conditions may affect these shows, so check forecasts before planning an evening visit. Additionally, the nearby museum proves a delightful alternative if you miss the temple visit. Note that the timings may differ from Google Maps, emphasizing the need to arrive before 7 in the evening to fully appreciate the site. Plan accordingly to witness the temple's grandeur and the museum's captivating exhibits.

Magnificent Sun Temple . Much of it has been destroyed by invaders , but whatever remains is a testimony of the wonderful architectural sense of Indians . The chariot wheels are actually a sun clock , which can tell you the time by observing the sun's shadow. The statues of Sun God in various forms present different glimpse into Man's journey of life. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must visit place.

It's a beautiful place! Well maintained, photogenic, and of great historical significance. If you like to delve into historical musings, this place is best to do so. The architecture, the intricate designs are sculptures are mesmerizing. Do read up a bit of history on Sun Temple to enjoy the majesty of this temple to full extent or get a guide. The wheels of this 'chariot' temple can also tell you the exact time of the day. The best time to visit would be early morning when the crowd is less.

The Konark Sun Temple is very beautiful and a must visit place. It shows the intelligence of the ancient Indian architectures. There is are sun dial also which shows the real time according to the shadow which is amazing and the most important part of the temple. The history behind this structure will definitely surprise you. But the sun shines very bright there, so keep your sunglasses with you and also do not forget your hat or cap whatever you want to carry. In short, I would like to say that it is a very beautiful historical architectural structure where you can and you should visit with your family and friends. This place is wheelchair accessible also.

It was well maintained UNESCO Heritage Site. There is scope for improvement. Do visit well maintained, informed and detailed Museum and Auditorium. There is Air Conditioned Restaurant within the premises along with Souvenir Shops. 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours maximum time period (without Guide) for making a full tour of this place. If you take help of Guide then maximum 3 hours although I think it will still not take that long. Above mentioned time period includes Museum and Auditorium tour too. It excludes Restaurant and Shopping. Shopping and spending time in Restaurant varies from person to person.

I visited this place during my Puri visit. The Konark Sun Temple is indeed a magnificent representation of Indian heritage and architecture. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds significant historical and cultural importance. It's fascinating to know that the temple is open for visitors throughout the year, allowing people from all around to experience its grandeur. The availability of guides to help understand the architecture and history of the temple is a great option, especially for those who wish to delve deeper into the intricate details and stories behind the temple's construction. Additionally, modern technology allows visitors to explore the temple's history through online resources like Google, which can provide valuable insights as well. Although a part of the temple was unfortunately torn down during the British colonial era, the remaining structure still stands as a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans of that time. Exploring the temple area and witnessing its architecture can be an awe-inspiring experience. As a bonus, the temple's surroundings might offer fantastic opportunities for photography, capturing the beauty and essence of this historical site. Moreover, purchasing Cashew from the local vendors adds a touch of enjoying the regional flavors and specialties.

Konark Sun Temple is one of the most iconic and beautiful landmarks in Odisha. Located in the small town of Konark, the temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity, Surya. Built in the 13th century, the temple is a magnificent example of Orissan temple architecture and art. It is situated at a distance of 35 km northeast of Puri and 65km Southeast of Bhubaneswar. The temple complex is constructed in the form of a giant chariot, with 24 wheels and seven horses, and is believed to be the largest in India. The temple is also known as the "Black Pagoda" because of its dark sandstone exterior. The temple is an impressive sight to behold, with intricate carvings decorating the walls and pillars of the main shrine. The walls of the temple are adorned with sculptures of gods and goddesses, mythical creatures, and scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. One of the most impressive sculptures is the 12-foot-high figure of the Sun God, Surya, riding a chariot. The temple also has a number of smaller shrines dedicated to various Hindu gods and goddesses. Inside the temple complex, there is an open-air theater and a museum, showcasing various artifacts from the temple's history. Visiting the temple is a truly unforgettable experience.

This place is a place of art in itself. It’s quite surprising to see how our earlier generations had so much knowledge about the earth and nature. If you are visiting Odisha or even Puri, you should not miss this place. It says a lot about our history. You will also find local guides here who will explain you everything about this temple. It’s really an interesting must visit place.

This temple is dedicated to Sun and is very beautiful! The main structure is full of beautiful carvings and sculptures. The inside of the structure is closed for visitors and hence it can be viewed only from outside. The surrounding area is also beautiful and you can sit and relax there. Entry fee of Rs 40 is charged too cost the monument. You can easily spend 2-3 hours marveling the beauty of the monument. Pro tip: Do take a tour guide here to understand the significance of different sculptures inside the complex!

This is a beautiful place. It covers a large area so go well prepared to walk, see and enjoy. It's really well maintained. I would suggest to get a guide so as to know more about the structure. We got a guide at 200rs (they charge a lot so do bargain appropriately) As we went in noon we couldn't see the light show.

The Sun Temple of Konark is a history of exquisite craftsmanship. Entry fee is Rs 25 for each. After entering through the gate, the first thing that comes is the main door whose design and handwork is amazing. Then the main Sun temple of Konark, if you go around the whole sun temple, you will see the beautiful works carved on the temple. And behind the Sun temple is another old temple made of bricks. Surrounded by lush green grass around the temple, the best time to visit Konark Sun Temple is just before sunset.

The sun temple, the greatest art of Odisha. The temple is full of architecture and beautiful stone arts. You can enjoy the beauty of stone arts and attractive green nature around it. Like the other temples of Odisha this temple also has story. The architecture of this temple is very detailed. The iron pillar, the wheels and the whole structure of this temple is so mesmerizing. But many of them are broken. In the evening you can enjoy the light and sound show. Do not forget to take a guide along if you are visiting the temple. Best time is between mid-November to mid-January.
