Seriously, avoid GRU completely or you will regret it. I have never experienced such a terrible travel experience in my entire life. We traveled from Rio, connecting through Guarulhos Airport, and because of poor customer service, we missed our flight to Miami. We arrived with an hour and a half to make the connection. The process was to reclaim our bags, check them back in, then go through security and passport control. There were no directions to the new terminal, no one to guide you through and the extremely long lines guaranteed we would be pressed for time to make the connection. Don't expect any staff to speak English either. You must be able to speak Portuguese to get any information. The signs were confusing and incorrect. We had to walk a very long way to go from the domestic to the international terminal. This airport has no tram, so be prepared to walk quickly to make your connection. I repeatedly asked airport employees to move us to the front of the security and passport control lines as we now had 30 minutes to make the connection. They were rude and said we had to wait like everyone else. We were connecting through, but that didn't matter. I was so angry at their lack of customer service. Why couldn't they make a new line for everyone pressed up against a tight connection. So, we missed the connection by 15 minutes because no one there made accommodations for anyone connecting through. So many people missed their flights that night and nobody cared in the least. The airport staff are robots and don't understand customer experiences are important. And, they move so slowly with ZERO sense of urgency.

The most important entry and exit door in Latim America. Gru Airport is an nice and comfortable airport, worldwide standard. The best way to outbound or inbound in this airport is UBER, cheaper, faster and reliable. Regular taxis is great, but expensive. Enjoy

Good service over all. Since the pandemic has started the place is kind empty. Very big airport and it can be a bit frustrating finding gates and all. Lots of parking spots and many restaurants can be found in there. You can go to or from the airport by Car/Bus or train. If you are planning on going by train reserve at least 2hours to get there in time as the train/metro system can make you late to the flight

Three stars only. It has improved a lot over the years but it's small for the high amount of people that's arrives and departs every day. Even for transit passanger security scrutiny is overwhelming.

Not a bad airport to get through and generally nice on the concourse. Very poor food options. Pizza, burgers, hot dogs, cakes… No restaurant/shop with some less stodgy options. Shame with all the great food in Brazil cuisine. I ended up just getting a snickers. Also toilets were a disaster. Dirty pand badly kept. One lock on door was broke so I used the next cubicle. When I tried to get out the lock jammed. I ended up having to climb out of the cubicle, including have to lower my luggage and laptop back over.

Long delays and not renovated airport. Still do the job! During my second visit at this airport , we went to the 3rd terminal and it was much better ! They renovated it or built not too long ago and it was really well done and modern ! Lots of walking like most airports ! We also visited the American Express lounge and it was so wonderful ! Good food , lots of space ! Just perfection during a long wait period !

GRU Terminal 3 is on a high standard, comparable with other larger international airports. Quite some lounges are around, for all normal creditcards as well as for the existing airline alliances. Shops and restaurants are also thicken in the „public“ area .. and all in all Terminal 3 is not crowded and rather calm ..

The Terminal 3 (international wing) is definitely a great improvement compared to the terrible and outdated older terminal 1 and 2. There are a lot of good membership lounges to choose from, all located on the second floor right after the security and immigration check points.

One International Airport where Immigration official made me feel that he was happy to have me visit his country. A very warm and friendly welcome. Free Wi-Fi for 2hrs inside Airport which very clean and spacious with lots of shops and restaurants. Beware it can be a hike for Domestic connections if arriving on International flights. Terminals are not interconnected and the security line was long and somewhat inefficient on the domestic side.

By far one of the worst airports I've been too. No air conditioning at all, it's extremely hot. Dirty, floor is dirty, mould growing on the ceiling everywhere. Leaks and so on. Extremely crowded, the airport seems to be operating way above its maximum capacity. Long queues for everything. Badly designed and it lacks signs indicating where things are.

Pristine quality airport. The comfort rooms are clean and automated. Food stalls are everywhere and even accept visa and mastercard

The whole terminal was very cold, although it was warm outside. It really felt freezing and if you have to wait for several hours, thats definitely not helpful. There was a firealarm in the building, which went on for almost a hour - very stressing... and it looked like no one even cared about this alarm.

I've been at GRU a couple of times after and before international flights. It's a medium to big size airport with a complete infrastructure that matches internal standards of comfort and technology. If you're staying here for a layover, there are plenty of options to do inside the terminals–they also have a small hotel for traveler with long stays. The airport is close to the city of Guarulhos, but sort of far from São Paulo downtown. It didn't get my five starts given to the huge amount of duty free stores that you have to go through to leave from one gate to another. If you're a shopper, you're going to like it.

Terminal 3 is really very nice, especially when you know T2 and T1. Anyway, they are building the largest and completely new airport (double the size of GRU) in South America as we speak, just north of São Paulo.

We were rerouted to this airport due to flight issues and changes. We ended up being stuck here on an 8hr layover. I will say that the airport was very clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Especially the restrooms, which is not at all common. The staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Grabbed a bite from a Subway there and it was without issue. I look forward to returning on purpose and getting to see the surrounding city.

Good in general, but need to have more fingers. Just arrived from an international trip and we nees to use stairs... Make no sense to a country like Brazil in the country's most important airport.

As far as the airport itself so nice 5 stars for sure. However NOBODY will help with directions, asking for the nearest bathroom there is NO EMPLOYEE HELP. Security is EVEN LESS HELP I don't speak much Portuguese but security spoke perfect English and still WOULD NOT HELP FOR NOTHING!!!! Very disappointing as this airport and Rio are the only ones flying to the US

The airport itself is very nice. It has several food options and cafes. I particularly love Olive Garden. It is at the end of terminal 2. Excellent. The prices really are much higher than if you were in the same places in the city, but ok. As it is an airport and because people circulate all the time (including in the pandemic), I think that employees should circulate more to check if the safety rules (distance and wearing masks) are being respected. It is important that this occurs so that everyone feels safe. I was afraid to travel, because due to the pandemic, I had already rescheduled twice, and regarding the accumulation of people I thought I would meet, but I was surprised about the organization and agility of the employees in guiding and avoiding possible setbacks. I noticed a lot of care regarding the cleaning of surfaces and luggage, and much more in the embarkation and disembarkation, carried out by rows without trampling or agglomerations. Faced with the pandemic that we are going through, I thought that alcohol gel could be made available at different points in the airport.

The new terminal is very modern and organized. The older terminals are long, poorly signed and need renovations. The worse part of Guarulhos is the transit connections. Be aware that self check in may not always work.

Ok airport. Terminal 3 (most long haul flights) is not bad but Terminal 2 is small and cramped. Very humid inside the terminals and they have these annoying raised tiles on the floor all over that cause havoc with rolling bags.

Arrived from London on LATAM airlines in Terminal 3. Very long waiting lines for non-Brazilians (>1,5hrs) for the passport control, then customs, baggage claim, then if transferring domestic Terminal 2, recheck-in the luggage (>1hr) in Terminal 2 for transfer passengers LATAM airlines. Had a 2hrs connection time which meant we missed our LATAM connection because of LATAM ver slow transfer desk check in, they do not care if you have a short departure time, No consideration. Next flight rebooked on 6hrs later. Anyway nice big airport, very good signs in English as well. Clean toilets. Lots of seating arrangements for passengers and lots of shops and eateries, cafés and bars. But recommend a 3hrs connection time minimum for transfer international terminal 3 arrival to domestic terminal 2 departure gate. Never again <3hrs for GRU. Otherwise this airport is just fine. Look forward to my second visit to GRU. P.S. airport management should consider relaxin the windows in the attached photo to a brilliant blue-green color. Currently the colorless windows are dusty and dirty which makes the light entering from the ceiling a bit dreary and dull. So it would be an easy yet bright improvement ! Lighting is everything !

Getting a little old this airport? Not as spectacular as other airports, the old part looks more like an old factory hall, dark and confusing, but I manage to find both terminals, launches and gates, so I will not complain too much, it is good enough I guess

Nice airport, I liked my arrival. Customs was super fast, not too crowded and everything was clean. However it was a little complicated to understand the path for the exit, at least that happened to me. The free shop is big. The parking payment was easier than expected.

Departures felt a little disorganized. Gates to international airports resulted in crowded spaces and difficulty of movement through the hallway.

I have to praise GOL and the airport for the quick solve of a change in planes when a technical difficulty occurred before take off.

GOL staff was super nice and kept their calm helping the situation.

Nice airport with a big duty free section. Clean and very friendly and helpful staff. Only thing to approve would be better use if all the signs in the airport to direct guests to the correct baggage carousels, this was a little confusing and although there were many monitors, no info was displayed for us. Update: on our ways back, the signs were much worse trying to catch a flight out of the international section. Needs less advertising and more directions.

Awful, really cold and most important, how the heck you're offering 2 hs of wifi, I have a 16 hs connection, I pay for the internet and then went offline and I was not able to get it back. Awful experience.

There are many beggars in Terminal 2. You must keep an eye on your belongings at all times. It's quite shocking to see that the airport is so distant from the centre and yet the beggars reach the airport to bother people. I get it there is a great social inequality in Brazil. Some beggars claim they need money to buy an airline ticket to the US...

(2023-01-01) I was transiting from Montréal on my way to Asunción. The airport is very clean and the sign is in Portuguese and English, which is helpful for those who do not speak the language. However, the airport itself has no charm at all, it has a cold atmosphere. Not welcoming at all. Some people were rude and I felt I did not belong there. I assume it is perfect if you stay for a shorter time, but I had to stay for 14 hours...

An airport to avoid. Ineffizient, unfriendly staff. Don’t bring duty free liquids with you if you have to go on a connecting flight. It will be confiscated even tough it’s in a duty free sealed bag.

Terminal 3 is a superb modern efficient airport. There is even a Tryp hotel inside security: bed to flight in 30 minutes if you please. The VIP lounges are excellent and located all together in a second floor area. Terminal 2: not so much. It’s dated and not well ventilated. However it’s mostly for domestic flights. Not bad, just not as good as T3. Terminal 1 is not connected and requires a bus or taxi transfer. It doesn’t seem to be used very much.. I didn’t see it. All in all a good destination or transit airport.

Domestic terminals definitely have a more regional airport kind of feel, crowded. International terminal 3 seems fairly new. Beautiful. Fairly large boarding areas. Lots of snack and light meal areas, not many sit down restaurants after security. Olive Garden and TGIFridays before security.

Despite this being a huge airport, it's entirely manageable to navigate, even though security can be a bit of a bear. It's clean and full of helpful attendants. I also visited the TAM lounge which was lovely, spacious and well worth the $30 fee for access. Tip: Travel to/from the airport before 8am or before 5pm to ensure you arrive to/from Sao Paulo proper in under an hour.

This is a very beautiful airport. Very modern and well organized. Easy to navigate. Signage easy to understand and follow. Very clean and well maintained. Plenty of shopping and dining options. Really nice duty free as well. Easy to get to with plenty of transportation options from trains, buses, taxi, and cars. The restrooms are very clean. The employees are very friendly, helpful and informative. Over all this is a fantastic airport.

I flew in for the first time today. For terminal 3, I had a good experience. Flow and signage was good, good selection of restaurants, immigration and customs went quickly, and bag re-check was smooth. We had to transfer to terminal 1 for our domestic flight, though, and that was messy. The transfer bus location wasn't clear. Also, terminal 1 is cramped and hectic; not ideal for an international passenger. Overall, I'd fly through here again, but I'm keen to contrast this experience with Rio (GIG).

  • 5/5 Ricky S. 4 years ago on Google
This airport has suffered improvements on the last few months. It is now a pleasant place to stay during a longer connection or layover. There are sorted options for restaurants and a good variety of them will stay open along the night. Most people greet you with a smile along with your boarding experience. During late hours the security and immigration are still open 24 hours, on both international and domestic operations. Different than some places, which is very good so we could arrive and pass security at 3 am. Thanks. Several seating area options with a nice view of the apron area. I couldn't find a showering area at the airport, only at the VIP rooms. The VIP rooms operatiom at the domestic area are from 6 to 22h30. It would be lovely if they could keep them operating 24/7 too.
