Today
we
visited
Bali
Beans.
I
read
about
them
online
and
approached
them
via
email.
Their
plantation
shows
a
fair
process
for
a
nice
coffee.
As
a
result
we
decided
to
stop
here
for
a
(very)
small
lunch
and
a
cup
of
coffee.
In
addition
we
were
able
to
get
a
tour
of
the
plantation
and
coffee
process
by
a
nice
girl
-
Cinthia
-
although
not
fluent
in
English.
Another
boy
joined
and
they
asked
if
they
could
take
some
shots
for
an
Instagram
reel.
We
approved
not
knowing
they
would
be
recording
us
continuously.
Cinthia
invited
us
to
harvest
some
the
red
cherries
of
the
coffee
plant,
let
us
taste
them
and
she
let
us
use
the
peel-off
machine.
This
was
all
great
fun,
although
the
tour
was
a
bit
long
because
they
wanted
some
additional
pictures
and
we
were
asked
to
practice
with
the
boy
to
improve
his
English.
After
the
tour
we
were
guided
back
to
the
cafe
for
a
tasting
of
the
different
coffees
by
Astri.
This
was
informative
and
again
fun.
We
decided
to
buy
4
different
bags
of
coffee
-
including
the
Luwak
coffee
(expensive!).
When
presented
with
the
bill
they
added
440.000
IDR
(!!!)
for
the
tour,
of
which
they
didn’t
inform
us
on
any
costs
beforehand.
Speaking
in
coffee
tasting
terms:
this
visit
had
a
very
acidic
finish.
We
don’t
have
an
issue
paying
a
contribution
for
a
tour
as
well
as
a
tip,
but
this
amount
is
outrageous.
They
said
they
included
our
lunch
and
drinks
in
this
amount,
but
do
note
that
paying
this
separately
would
have
only
cost
us
153.000
IDR.
So
less
than
half
of
what
was
added
to
our
bill
at
this
point.
Also,
as
you
are
buying
coffee
you
would
expect
a
discount
on
the
tour,
the
fact
that
we
modelled
for
their
social
media
should
have
resulted
in
another
discount,
let
alone
practice
English
with
their
staff…
Finally,
the
price
of
this
tour
is
wayyyyyy
more
expensive
than
a
tour
with
a
private
guide
through
the
rice
fields
during
2
hours
(150.000
IDR
in
total)
-
so
it
really
is
uncanning
in
every
way.
After
we
let
them
know
they
should
have
informed
us
beforehand
they
gave
a
5%
discount.
We
will
probably
laugh
about
this
experience
in
the
future,
but
it
for
sure
means
we
won’t
be
suggesting
this
place
to
our
friends
and
family
and
won’t
be
buying
their
coffee
in
the
future.
