You have to stay here! I chose this location as it has cheap prices and I had stayed at the Kings Inn in Anaheim before and was very pleased with that location. The outside doesn’t look like much at all but the rooms are very nice and comfortable. I believe I got a bit of an older room as it was different than some of the pictures online but I know they were renovating some rooms beside mine so I think it’s just a matter of time before all of them are more up to date. Even with a bit of an older room though I had no complaints! I unfortunately had some problems arise during my trip so I had to extend my booking a couple times. The front office was AMAZING, I cannot remember her name but I believe she is the day manager. She was unbelievable, she helped me out with any questions and offered her services if I needed anything at all. She made me feel so at ease during a stressful time and she really went above and beyond. The pool is nice and big and has a nice hot tub as well. They have a restaurant on site and I tried the Waffle House which is what they serve during the morning/afternoon and it was very good. This is in a great location and I found it was close to a lot of stuff especially if you have a car. For the price you cannot go wrong with this location and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in San Diego.

We liked supporting this hotel as a family-owned establishment. Good for the price (use discount code online if there is one). Nice to have a few restaurants attached and the Waffle Spot was enjoyable and well priced with friendly service. Loved the fridge in our room, complete with freezer. Liked being able to park really close to our car (not the case in so many hotels). Good central location close to Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Old Town, downtown, and everywhere, really. A few things kept it from being a first-class experience. Floors in room did not seem clean. Went to the pool and hot tub once and, while nice and fun, seemed to have a lot of bugs and other floaties. Room had a few bugs as well. Exiting the room went walking through the poolside lounge area full of cigarette smoke right outside the room. Worst of all, room was oh so loud. From the room we could hear the conversations from the adjoining room (I bet they could definitely hear our kids in the morning too!), as well as trucks zooming down the highway, and loud footsteps from neighbors above. Sometimes all three at once - not a great place for light sleepers. Other than that, good for the price, if you're looking for a 'classier' motel experience that the family will enjoy. Would stay again if San Diego hotel prices stay sky-high everywhere else.

I loved the kitschy, retro modern look. The room (standard king) was a comfortable size. Surprisingly, the room was quiet despite the hotel being next to a highway. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The location leaves you 5 minutes from old town and 10-15 from the zoo and downtown by car. The only downside was the room had a bit of an old musty smell to it.

I'm truly astounded at how nice this Inn was. The rooms were immaculate, clean, and comfortable. The king bed and pillows were great after a long day. The swimming pool and hot tub were also very clean and refreshing. The Waffle Spot is an absolutely fantastic restaurant (5/5), definitely check that out for breakfast or brunch. The service was very nice, with kind staff and thorough cleaning staff who made our bed, replaced the towels, and took out the trash every day. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I'm glad I found it.

The location was great for where our visit was focused. The room rate was reasonable. The rooms are updated, but the vinyl plank flooring was very dirty. The musty smell in the room caused congestion for us. The bathroom area where the tub/shower is located was very dirty around the corners of the floor. The beds are clean and comfortable. Room size was adequate.

We really liked this place. The location was close to several of the nearby San Diego attractions. The rooms were fresh and renovated and the adjacent restaurants that were on the hotel property served good food. The pool was heated and 9 feet deep. Nice relaxing area near the pool, which could use a fire pit to enhance the atmosphere.

I was very pleased with my stay! My room was clean and comfortable. I felt very safe as a female solo traveler at this hotel. Cleanliness and safety were my primary concerns and this hotel delivered! The hotel accommodated all of my requests. The staff was very friendly. The pool and hot tub were clean and well-lit in the evening. The community microwave was very convenient to heat my leftovers. The fridge in my room kept my drinks and food nice and cold. The a/c worked great. The hotel was easily accessible to all the places I visited. I was able to park my car very close to my room and it was always within my view. Keep up the great work Kings Inn and I will see you again next year!

A wonderful, centrally located motel. Greg at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating with all our needs. The rooms are basic, very clean with a nice size fridge and very comfy beds. We went to both the Waffle House and Amigo's and enjoyed both of them. And, the pool and jacuzzi were fabulous. My new favorite motel in San Diego. Very close to everything.

The rooms were great they had the whole lobby and restaurant decorated for Halloween and the Day of the Dead it was so awesome. The food at the waffle spot and the Mexican restaurant were both amazing. I've never had mini waffles before omg to die for especially with hot peaches and whipped cream on them. The staff is great and I would definitely stay there again.

We transferred from the motel 6 across the street and it was worth every penny. Service is wonderful and everything is kept clean. The pool and hot tub, which are a major point to my family to determine what hotel we stay at, were always clean and really well kept. The two restaurants are also absolutely delicious for breakfast and dinner respectively. I would recommend anyone to stay here if you are looking for a top tier 2 star motel

From check-in to check-out, this place made us feel like family. Our room was small, but clean and comfortable. We tried both restaurants, and the food was delicious! By far, the most amazing thing about staying here is the staff. Everyone we met was friendly, fun, and professional. I was a bit sad to say goodbye.

The rooms were clean and look good, along with the bathroom and laundry room. The lobby was also quite nice. The location is really good, given there is a store and two restaurants inside of it, but there are also restaurants, convenience stores, and a liquor store nearby for those who drink. The service was great as well. The rooms were cleaned properly, the staff were very nice and helpful, and it made the stay more enjoyable. The one issue I can see is the lack of a gym for those who work out, but even then it's not a big issue. Poop, amazing. Hot tub, amazing. I highly recommend this place for a single person, a couple, family, group, or whoever you'd be with

This motel is very nice. Our air-conditioner didn't work but we were gone all day during our stay and at night there was a great breeze through the open windows. The place was cute and clean, hot tub was nice and hot, staff was accompanying and pleasant, the breakfast was fast and tasty, beds were comfortable. It's in a row with lots of hotels and 1 other restaurant. Right by the expressway.

The hotel is very clean! They had service everyday which was nice. The room had a safe and a mini fridge. The pool and hot tub were clean and centrally located. Location felt safe. However, there is limited options for restaurants within walking distance.

We were so happy with this motel!! I loved the vibe! It has character and charm, and is very clean and affordable. Our tub spout broke, but they quick came and fixed it. It was very well maintained. I really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The pool was plenty warm. The location was great for all the places we wanted to go, but you definitely need a car. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurants, but they looked like nice options! I was hoping to post pictures, as our room did not look like the ones I see here, but so far no option to share pics!

Update: Stayed here for the second time and had a better experience than the first!!! This is a cool, vintage motel that has added some modern touches. It is well maintained even though it is older. For both of my stays, the rooms were exceptionally clean, beds were comfortable, and I was able to park very close to my room. Also this recent time, I enjoyed the hot tub every night!! Such a relaxing addition to my stay. I’ll definitely be back! My only con is that both times I unfortunately encountered people smoking and the smell wafted into my open room window or the hot tub area. It was not continuous though. This hotel is cheaper than all the other hotels in the area, so the price makes it worth staying here.

We came to SD to visit my son who is living there. Staying at Kings Inn, was a great surprise! The recent renovation made this location even more charming. We loved the dine in restaurants on site, and found our room comfortable and CLEAN . A fantastic bass to enjoy the area from. We loved the outdoor covered lounge to relax & enjoy at the end of our day! We will be staying there again. Thank you for a great vacation!

Oh my goodness cute as can be. Super clean. Nice pool and hot tub. Nice staff. Smells nice. They do have a safe secluded smoking area for smokers. Good food. The only draw back I found Is no super early breakfast ..but other than that it's the nicest motel I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at many in my life. ..the vibe is friendly and peaceful . Parking was nice . We are here for my son's Marine Corps graduation and I need to add a guest my son after graduation..and it was no problem. Staying in double queen room. Everything works nicely from climate control to plumbing and outlets . It feels looks and smells clean and safe .

Staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean, bed comfortable. We enjoyed the pool each day we were there. Nice place to just relax at. Nice having restaurants at the motel. Only complaint we would have been not having breakfast included or at least a discount at the restaurant.

We were in a King Bedroom Superior room. We appreciated the sitting area with a sofa and coffee table, along with the fridge, microwave, cupboards, and sink. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom sink was new, and there was a separate walk in closet with a door, dresser, and mirror that could be used when someone else was in the bathroom. We also liked that we had our own room thermostat to control the temperature. It was an actual heating/cooling system rather than the loud units by the windows that so many hotels have. We enjoyed relaxing in our room at the end of each day of our visit to San Diego! Would highly recommend the Kings Inn!

From check in to check out everything was spot on amazing. The room was huge, quiet and well stocked. I only wish it was shampoo and conditioner seperately not in one bottle but that was easily handled. The room had 2 windows. So nice breeze in my room. The TV was good sized, the bed was so comfy. There was a nice sitting areas by the pool and spa. THE parking was huge so no worries of not getting a space if you came in late. I felt very safe and comfortable being by myself. Oh the hotel had towels for the pool to use. I was referred to this hotel by 2 of my co workers and I am so glad. It was easy to find and so close to Old Town . Next time I get the opportunity to come to San Diego I will look up Kings Inn.
