It is worth mentioning that it's recommended to book a table in advance as this place get really busy. This is also one of the cons of the restaurant. We had booked a table in advance and after arriving at the restaurant we had to wait awkwardly by the entrance to be seated for around 15 minutes. After being seated we had to wait another 20 minutes or so until someone took our order. The fact that we needed to wait for the drinks or the food didn't matter to us as much since it's understandable. On top of that, we were attended by three different people. All this means that the place is either incredibly chaotic or simply understaffed and anyone just does what they can whenever they can: pick up phones, take and bring orders, et cetera. The staff was kind though. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and the drinks were also quite tasty - nothing to complain about in this matter. I also need to mention that the interior of the restaurant is rather small which makes you feel cramped up and doesn't really allow you to relax. It seems like you can also sit outside the restaurant in the back, but we didn't have a chance to get a closer look at that area. To summarize: the food was great but the overall experience was average.

The restaurant offers swedish food, however the menu seems a bit small. I had meatballs and they were tasty. As a dessert I had a chocolate truffle. It's super delicious, so much that I wished it was bigger. But it's a truffle... 🤣 Service is quick once seated, but expect waiting around 10 minutes to be seated if you don't have a reservation and you come at a busy period. It's better to have a reservation. The restaurant has a lovely outside seating area in the inner courtyard of the building block. Also, hello to other guests of Generator Hostel, yes they recommended this place to me too 🤭

A really lovely place to visit and it was evident that the team and the chefs really enjoyed their work. Excellent attention to detail and some delicious dishes made for a really great visit. Good pilsner on tap too. The steak dish was beautifully cooked and the dessert was absolutely lovely. Would really recommend as a first stop in Stockholm.

Wow. Our server Philip was great. They made some great suggestion. For starters we got the herrings 3 way & the pie. Wow. It was packed with so many flavors. And the herring was so tender and very tasty. For our main we got the meatballs dish and the salmon. The meat balls was cooked perfectly with plenty of flavor. The salmon was questionable. The taste was there but the portion size was overwhelming. Overall great experience.

The food was delicious! I was eating by myself and often, restaurants would make you sit at the bar but I was offered a choice to sit at a table. I had the Vasterbotten pie, which is like a creamy cheese potato pie, with sour cream, roe, and onion. I also had the virgin herring.

Super friendly service, fun decor, and really good food! We loooved the Swedish meatballs and their new reindeer dish. My partner also said the charred cabbage was the best cabbage he’s had! We also got their homemade herring which is their most popular dish but we don’t quite have the taste for pickled herring. Lastly, the apple pie dessert was the perfect finish to the meal… especially with the touch of cardamom *chefs kiss 😘 (Ps 2-3 dishes per person was enough to make us full.)

Great restaurant for a few classic Swedish dishes. Their meatballs are wonderful and so is the cheese pie. We also really liked their fish dish. The menu isn’t huge, but that was good for us. What really stands out about this place is the wonderful bartenders and waiters who run smoothly even when it’s busy and are very social and personable. The champagne recommendation they gave us was delicious too! Absolutely recommend.

Food was really good. We had two appetizers: the 3 types of herring and the Jerusalem artichoke, both were very good. As the main course we had the Swedish meat balls with a delicious sauce and potato purée. The staff was friendly and the general location/interior is nice!

So happy to have found this cozy restaurant during our first visit to Stockholm. Delicious local food, extremely kind and welcoming staff and all for a good price. Felt like we found a proper authentic spot. Couldn't recommend enough. We hope to be back next time we are in the city, with special thanks the lovely Jonas and Heather for looking after us so well!!

One of my favorite dining experiences in Stockholm. Review is as much for the service as the meal. Love the Snapas concept which allows you to try multiple local dishes. It’s a tiny space so a reservation is recommended. As a solo-traveller I did not have a res and sat at the bar. I was traveling over Easter weekend and Nomad was near my hotel and actually open on Easter; I had a wonderful time.

A quaint restaurant and bar serving up the most delicious authentic Swedish meals. Starting us off with a wine and chip pairing…. while not something an American would imagine as a pairing was quite a surprise and reward. The meatballs were divine. I would fly back just to eat here again. So good. So so good.

Mixed feelings. While the food indeed was tasty and looked good it was fairly expensive and it's recommended (by staff) to order multiple dishes. I was sitting on a high chair and tended to slide down. Thankfully staff brought a pillow to overcome this issue. If you are fine with paying more or only eat a bit you, I believe you can have a good time.

The food was delicious, the fact that you can order smaller things to try different tastes is very attractive. Although the prices are quite high, but not much compared to other restaurants in Stockholm. The cheesecake is a must try, you will be surprised. Reason for the missing star: from the description I was expecting it to be more a combination of bar and restaurant, with a bit louder music and festive atmosphere.

I had dinner here with my family and we had a great experience over all! The staff was very gentle and available form the moment we walked in. The thing we appreciated the most was the variety of the dishes and drinks offered, there was for every taste: from the more traditional meatballs with potatoes and lingoberries to more unusual dishes like a nice creamy soup with crispy beacon crumbles or artichokes made in a particular way (of which I dont remember the name at the moment). I also tried their Lingroni Sbagliato, which is a Sbagliato with lingoberries, and was pleasently surprised. Very reccomended!

Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Amazing service. Do I need to say more? The location is very close to the central station. Despite this, the surrounding area is embraced with tranquility. With a little luck you might find yourself on a romantic stroll through Tegnerlunden with a kindred spirit who might have passed by the restaurant out of interest to experience the many comforting, engaging and varying musical gatherings that take place there. For the price (which by the way will most likely compare to any other restaurant you will dine at in Stockholm) the food is nothing but exceptional. And let us not get started on the staff; I am simply beyond words. Nomad is an undiscovered gem with a gentle touch. I would not recommend any other place in Stockholm more wholeheartedly than I would Nomad. One of the few places in Stockholm where life and romance still thrive. A special thanks to the staff, especially Harald &Victor for their wonderful service and the warmth they brought into my heart on multiple ocasions.

Located in the city backpackers building. Fantastic food. Reasonable prices for Stockholm. Their SOS is the best we have ever had - and we ordered 2nd servings. Good service too. It got busy by the time we left at 6pm - clearly a well known spot.

My family and I wanted to try out some Swedish cuisine and found this place. Very glad we did! It's really cute inside. The food is sort of tapas-style so you can order a few dishes and try a little of everything. The waiter was also helpful in explaining the concept and portions. Everything was delicious but I especially liked the herring tasting.

I went to Nomad, Swedish restaurant and bar. They only had 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts, 2 for staff total (no door or bar staff) and 1 chef. 40 seats. Easily double sitting on a Monday night. Very calm service. Great vibe. Tried to go last Friday but it was pumping with a DJ and too busy! Went back until they could say me and got the Swedish meatballs. Talk about delicious and efficient. Everything a profitable restaurant dreams of being. Hats off 🍴🎩👏🏽🙌

Only have great words for this place. I went with my partner and we happily enjoyed the Swedish national dish and had a great dining and tourist experience. The staff and chefs were excellent and very entertaining and charismatic, you could tell that they loved their jobs and valued their customers highly from the very first interaction. Helps too that the prices are catered to young people and students so you can have as much great food and drink as you want without your pockets feeling empty

Delicious food except for the actual meatballs, which tasted kind of overcooked and rubbery. My companion said, "At least you know they weren't frozen, they taste so homemade." Friendly staff, fast service. Window seats a bit gross with all the old cushions... The normal seats and the rest of the interior look nice though, pretty good ambience. Close to the train station.

Even when this is a 5-star restaurant, they need to improve on the space, plus having tall chairs it's just not for everyone, you want to enjoy your meal and no worry for anything else. The food is definitely delicious, the sauce with the meatballs, the mashed potatoes are yummy, the meat and fish also great, and the service, well, they care for what they have, even when they were busy we had a very attentive waitress, overall if you are around here, this place is a must.

We stumbled upon this cozy spot while on vacation, and when in Sweden, trying the meatballs is a must. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. For dessert, we went for the blueberry pie, which was tasty, although we were surprised to find it without a bottom crust. The waitress was friendly. Probably best making reservations as it tends to get busy in the evenings. We noticed that walk-in customers were being turned away due to the place being full.

We had carrot soup, meatballs and baked halibut for dinner of two. The food is absolutely amazing, especially carrot soup, out perform our expectations. The meatball is also very decent, fish fresh and quality. Will definitely revisit.

The food was quite good, and it came hot and well plated. The restaurant was kept clean and tables were cleared quite quickly. However, I noticed some glass near the entrance inside was broken (no shards of glass had been left unswept to be clear), but this was my only concern. Tables are a little close together in spots, so they may be inaccessible to larger people or disabled people. Staff were not impolite and were quite friendly, yet after a while, they seemed to want us to leave as we had not ordered more food, which I suppose is quite fair. That being said, I do think Nomad is worth a visit for what I believe to be authentic Swedish meatballs at a decent price, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is quite pleasant, but I would advise that once you're finished your meal, either order dessert or don't overstay your welcome.

Food top quality. We had the carrot and coconut soup which was delicious, Herrings, and then sirloin and halibut for mains. All great quality. Atmosphere is quite hip, seating not very comfortable. Service was friendly. Our kids loved the food, but I wouldn’t say it’s kid friendly as a venue and recommend to others for family meal. Would be very nice for a date or with small group of friends. We don’t have the meatballs but they looked good and many people were tucking in to them on other tables.

It can be a little chaotic and the waiting times can be a little longer than you are used to, but this only adds to the charm of the place. On the night we visited there was a nice live band and the staff created a great atmosphere. The food was additionally tasty and the prices were very reasonable! Can't recommend this place enough in case you are looking for a fun and genuine time out in Stockholm.

Pretty much a Bib Gourmand-worthy place, serving excellent Swedish cuisine (and local liquor) at reasonable prices. You can tell by the number of reservations and chill vibe that you are in for a treat. The menu differs from day to day, although the staple in the form of meatballs (alas not captured by yours truly) is a must-try. That said, the delicacy in the form of Västerbotten pie was an absolute show-stopper, although the herring in browned butter gave it a run for its money.

I've had better meatballs in Stockholm. They were quite big and dry, the sauce was mixed with a lot of cream, nothing really special. Very small selection of main dishes.

  • 4/5 Jesse van O. 1 year ago on Google
The restaurant is small but quite nice, and the staff is very friendly. The food ended up being a little underwhelming though. We ordered the pickled herring, reindeer, cod, boar, meatballs and hasselback potato. Some dishes like the reinder and the herring were really good, but then some dishes like the cod ended up being quite bland and could have used a bit more seasoning. The meatballs were only lukewarm as well unfortunately. Because the place is quite small the kitchen is also quite small. We think that because of that a lot is made and cooked ahead of time (the food also came out really fast). There is nothing wrong with that but with the prices that they charge for every dish you really expect the food to be made fresh. Overall we had an ok time and would rate the place a 3.5. Since that is not possible on Google reviews and we thought a 3 would be too harsh, we landed on a 4 instead.

The food is tasty, but not a lot of choises, the menu is short. And some of the good is pre-prepared and only heated in the resto. So dont expect michelin stars, rather a bistro type kitchen and for that an excellent obe. Food still tastes good and the athmosphere and the friendliness of the staff makes up for it. Especially interesting their own home made shots they offer for each meal.

  • 3/5 Nikko 9 months ago on Google
I have mixed feelings with Nomad. Starters were disappointing. The skagen was not as good as some we had before and the portion of pickled herring was minuscule. Mains were quite nice. Meatballs was juice and the sauce very good. The portion of cured salmon was big enough and the flavour was great, specially with the mustard sauce. Service was quite slow. Dishes were lest on the counter for quite a while without anyone taking them to the tables. We were never given toasts and butter as the other tables were (in fact we had to serve ourselves to toasts as we found a bag on a shelf next to us)

I am finding it hard to express how excellent my experience has been at this restaurant. As a solo female traveler, it can be daunting to find a Saturday spot to eat dinner. I walked into this redirect and was greeted by an extremely friendly manager who helped me to decipher the specials and choose a beer. The food was AMAZING. I tried the Swedish fish dish and the local beer - both were incredible. They have an outdoor area that is really cute and plays love music later. This was a great find.

We grabbed dinner there on a busy night (there was live music outside), there were some goods and bads. While the meatballs and sauce were tasty, the mashed potatoes along with them were poorly seasoned. The beer selection looked nice but they were all out of stock, leaving a really poor choice.
