Meatballs were very good and came in a wide variety of meats. Lunch deal was very affordable but it changes everyday, so do check beforehand if there is a specific dish you want. Store was big and spacious and the kitchen was open so it was interesting to watch the chef prepare the meals for us.

The people, the atmosphere, the food and the overall experience is well deserving of praise. We arrived late, shortly before closing but instead of turning us away they let us in as well as others who arrived shortly after we did. This is most likely because they know people come from all over to experience their food. The place is small but well designed. The red looks and feels much bigger then it actually is. We ordered two classic meatballs meals and the garlic bread. The food was as expected and according to my partner they are done as Swedish meatballs should be done. He ate every last drop. The food was good I was not a fan of the lingonberry drink. It was a little too sweet for me but this fact didn’t change my experience. The atmosphere here is infectious and I had a great time. We laughed, ate and drank, never once were we rushed out by the staff. It was a really great experience.

Really good Swedish restaurant. They have a large emphasis on their meatballs (obviously, based on the name), and rightly so. They have a lot of options for different meatballs to get, from chicken, to beef, to reindeer. And if you get a meatball dish, you can mix and match different ones, which is pretty cool. I ended up getting the spaghetti with the "classic" meatballs, which are made of 70% beef and 30% pork. It was delicious. I also got the garlic bread appetizer, and I cannot stress how perfect it was. Everything was just great. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. I sat on the stair chair things (not sure how to describe it but you'll know if you see it) which was pretty unique and the staff wore hilarious shirts. Service was good all around.

We had booked in advance and it was the best idea. The room was full. We tried the experience of testing all the meats on the menu with a group of friends. it was very good despite the taste of some meats being too strong. But that's not the restaurant's fault. For example, bear meat is very very strong in taste.

Ever so glad I got to experience this wonderful place! I loved the seating arrangements and luckily when I went there was a spot just for me! On a step above everyone, so I had a good view of the restaurant, bar and kitchen. I went for the 'we love meatballs' and let the chef surprise me with which meatballs I received. I enjoyed all of them, the chicken less so, but still found the meal delicious🤤, to say the least! The homemade lingonberry drink was also delicious, would have loved a bigger glass. I left a very happy customer

In the first place, I would emphasize the mandatory reservation in advance through the website, if you do not want to stand in line outside, because when we arrived at the time indicated for our reservation, there were 10-15 people waiting in front. The experience itself is very interesting, the restaurant is very nice and interestingly decorated, we got a seat at the bar which was also cool. In this restaurant, you can try meatballs made from many different meats, starting with the classic ones (chicken, pork, vegan version) and ending with unusual and exotic flavors (wild boar, reindeer, bear, moose, etc.). We tried traditional Swedish meatballs, and we also ordered one each of bear, reindeer and wild boar meat. We recommend everything except the reindeer meatballs, which we are not delighted with, they have a special taste. I would only point out that we waited a full 45 minutes for our food, which is a bit disappointing.

We just had a minor problem: the long waiting for our order. Other tables arrived later and were served before. Apart from that, the meatballs were really good. And the most interesting thing were the peculiar choices for lamb, moose and even bear meatballs (really!). Nice ambiance.

Classic meatballs of different types. The staff was amazing. We bought their book about meatballs and they all signed it. We LOVE it! Thank you to the staff and to the lovely waitress (sorry I didn't ask your name) that went one by one to all her colleagues for them to sign it! We recommend the classic ones (with beef & pork) and the ones of reindeer. You will enjoy them very much! Go there! 😋👌☺️

Found this place thumbing around Google maps and I'm very happy I stopped in for an early dinner. Was dining alone and was surprised by the cool perch seating. It's sort of like a comfy bleachers in the back of the restaurant. Feels less formal which was the vibe I was going for. In addition to meatballs, I had a couple of Swedish style schnapps. (Fairly sure I've got the spelling wrong.) Asked the waitress her opinion, and she said "when I order schnapps, I say tequila." Ha!

A renowned place for famous meatballs. And I totally understand what made them famous. It is a smaller restaurant that takes reservations only over lunch, we were here for dinner and waited a maximum of 10 minutes to get a seat (if there was a longer line I recommend stopping around the corner at the church Sofia kyrka - worth seeing). Very friendly staff, we had everything ready quickly and did not wait for anything so long. You can choose from several types of meat or leave it to chance and the choice of chef. Our selection was delicious, the sauce delicate. I also tasted raspberry cider and I give it 10/10. I will recommend this place to others for tasting typical Swedish meatballs.

Three stars at a push. Mostly because the mashed potatoes were very nice. I don't understand why this place is so hyped. When we arrived, it was full. When we left, there were queues outside. The food is okay, but vastly overpriced. As others said, you can get better meatballs in many places. The service is extremely spotty. The first server was very pleasant once we've been seated, but then it declined. Some of us got the wrong dishes and, in the end, we got a bill that was basically double what it should have been. Both issues were quickly corrected, but still. All in all, well, perhaps walk past, nod slowly, if pushed take a seat at the bar for a quick beer, then make your way to another eatery and leave Meatballs for the People to the local hipsters and the tourists.

A casual meatball restaurant. I arrived at around 7PM by myself. At least ten people were in the queue already, but they let me in to a counter table straight away. I felt a bit guilty, but I guess that's one advantage of solo travelling. I sat at a bar counter where you can see the busy kitchen. The veggie meatball dish was very nice. I really liked the gravy. (Much better than IKEA!) The menu is simple enough and it's easy to this side. I waited for about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but it was definitely worth it.

meatballs are awesome. a recommended place to experience authentic Swedish meatball other than ikea. open kitchen design can let you see the entire cooking process. playing retro pop songs. really great atmosphere. however, the staff is quite unaware about getting the order and paying the bills. it takes much longer to do that. not a pleasant experience on that.

We had meat balls with lamb and beef. Both dishes were very delicious! The homemade drink was also nice. We tried chicken and deer single balls and we didn’t like the taste of any of them so lamb and beef were good choices for us. The wait was not that long and they would write your name down. If they would give people a buzzer for the wait it would be better. The space is not as big as we thought and we had to sit at the bar.

Had the We Love Meatballs (chef's choice) and the Tagliatelle with Meatballs. Tried the beef, chicken, pork, and vegan varieties. All are good. Particularly loved the chicken meatballs because the taste of the coriander spice added a whole new dimension to it. Loved the ciders. Loved the seating too. Service was excellent! Loved it!

An absolutely must try! Cold and hungry, this is my first meal in Sweden and I was not disappointed! The classic is a delight, I just wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more! Very good service and nice environment. Be sure to make reservation early if possible. I was lucky to get a seat around 11:30am on a Sunday before crowds started filling up the space.

Great spot and wonderful staff. The meatballs were great, but definitely on the expensive side. I had an assortment platter which was great, but if I was to go again I'd definitely only get the reindeer meatballs as they were vastly superior to the other meats. Great experience and the gravy and lingonberry sauce was delicious.

As the name indicates, it's a restaurant specialized in the typical Swedish meatballs. We went for the plate that allowed us to try as many meatball flavors as possible and it did not disappoint. All the meatballs tasted great and the mashed potatoes that came with were good. The sauces and pickles were also a good addition. The lingonberry gin was awesome and the dessert was fantastic.

A very popular restaurant which specializes in meatballs. They have interesting meat choices. I highly recommend getting the more adventurous options that can rarely be found in other places. The classic (a mix of beef and pork) is nothing special. Mashed potato is well made. Fluffy and not on the creamy side. I found the sauce to be on the mediocre side. Something I note is that apparently if you order the single portion of chef‘s choice what you get will be: beef, pork, deer, and chicken (without flag). Saw that almost all of the mixed plates are served that way. They also offer a good variety of beers. Do note that they don‘t allow you to share a meal so be prepared to come with an empty stomach. Another downside is that the open kitchen is not well ventilated so your clothes will smell if you choose to sit inside. Do not expect friendly service especially on busy hours. Overall, a good place to visit for first timers in Sweden (who has never tried Swedish meatballs outside of Ikea).

Great spot to get some great Swedish meatballs! The seats were just a tiny bit to high to enjoy the meal at the bar but the food made up for it:) the pork meatballs melted in my mouth, and the couscous was delicious with it. We also tried the 4 different flavours option which was really nice, the mash was so buttery and creamy and just paired up perfectly with the gravy and sauce! 100% recommend!

We waited quite a while for the food, but with a spot that is likely viral like this place it’s expected. But it was definitely worth the wait! We had some of, if not the best meatballs ever. We were in sweden for a friends birthday and they did not disappoint. Service was super friendly. Only two points is that we wish the restaurant was bigger and the food a little quicker, other than that, no faults!

Very cosy place. There are not so many tables, but it has a good vibe 😌 I have ordered : We ❤️ Meatballs, and i have to say it was very, very delicious, i only wish it was a second round 😋😆 Home-made drink was also very tasty. I loved the food and the place, but my vory is that nobody knows what you being given, what type of meatballs, as while site in fron of the kitchen, i have chefs constantly changing flags to every plate, and some 3 times as i have witnessed. Dont think that will make a lot of difference to anyone, well... unless you are vegan and been given chicken instead 😄 Well done anyway 👏

It’s a place to go for some real meatballs. They were delicious. Good portions also, and quite lots of options to choose from. Place is super busy, so expect to wait to enter the restaurant. On top of that because of the crowds service can be quite slow, it took some time to serve us, and then waited at least 30 min to get food. On top of that they forgot to bring us both food, so had to wait another 30min. It was a bit annoying, but I guess understandable with how busy they were.

Of course I had to try swedish meatballs in Sweden! Decided to check out this place as it is highly rated. Luckily we managed to book a slot for lunch. Ordered the sharing plate for 2 people as we could try almost all the meatballs. Additionally, we ordered the bear and moose meatballs. Yes bear. It seems so wrong but I do not want to be hypocritical since I am not a vegetarian, and I believe Sweden has higher ethical standards when it comes to meat sourcing. I was right as there was a poster on the wall showing where meat is sourced. Well back to the meatballs - absolutely delicious. I wondered to myself how different could different meatballs taste. I was very pleasantly amazed - each meat had a unique taste. For example, the bear meatball had a slight gamey bitter aftertaste. On top of the wonderful meatballs, the mashed potato was easily one of the best if not the best. Remember to order the recommended beer too as you would not regret it! Service wise it was good just a little slow but it was understandable they seemed understaffed. This is definitely a must go meatball restaurant in Stockholm!

The food is great and the drinks are nice. The overall vibe is great but the seating is a little odd. It’s a small space and the staff bumped into us a few times and so did other people sitting above us. They have lots of options and the menu is very accommodating. I would recommend getting extra gravy because it’s quite a small portion of gravy but otherwise, everything was really great. I would definitely go back again.

A fun experience and a way to try new types of meat. We had the Chef’s Choice which had a nice selection of meatballs and overall the wild boar was the best in my opinion. Make a reservation- you will definitely get a better seating location. Waitstaff was attentive, helpful, and nice.

A must stop for tourists like us that want to have a taste of Swedish food. Great variety of meat. We had the not so typical meatballs like bear and a reindeer. Definitely worth a try if you are visiting Stockholm or even if your a local.

A must-stop for those wanting to taste Swedish meatballs! This place offers a great variety of meats, even some unconventional choices like bear and reindeer meatballs. Impressive selection of beers on tap too! The seating arrangements and overall decor were wonderful. The service was excellent and staff exceptionally kind.I highly recommend booking a table in advance to secure your spot.

Didn’t realize this place was viral on TikTok until we went. We were looking for a great place to have Swedish meatballs and decided to try this spot and I’m glad we did! They offer many different types of meatballs in a few different dishes. We got pork meatballs in the classic dish, along with beef meatballs with spaghetti. Before we entered, we were thinking - how can meatballs be that outstanding? They WERE outstanding. Best meatballs we’ve had. Especially the pork ones. They were so tender. The beef balls were firm, but had great flavour. Everything on the classic dish was outstanding. The pasta has the texture of boxed pasta, but the meatballs are the main attraction here. They met/exceeded our expectations! It would be interesting to try more, or to try the chef’s choice. We waited in line for about an hour on a Thursday at 4:00pm. I recommend booking a table well in advance, but if to decide to wait, it’s still worth it!

The gravy was a little bit foamy but the meatballs were the best. I tried smoked reindeer’s heart and it tasted amazing - I highly recommend trying it - it doesn’t step down from the meatballs. I was impressed by how the place was super busy but the staff managed to get everything on time and be extremely polite meanwhile.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy authentic and delicious Swedish meatballs, look no further than Meatballs for the people. This cozy and charming restaurant offers a variety of meatballs in different sauces and dishes, from the classic to the exotic. You can choose from pork, beef, chicken, moose, or vegetarian meatballs, and pair them with mashed potatoes, pasta, salad, or bread. Please remember to order smoked deer hearts as an appetizer. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I highly recommend the We Love Meatballs platter, which lets you sample four different kinds of meatballs with different sides. It was a feast for the senses and the stomach. Meatballs for the people is a must-visit for anyone who loves meatballs or wants to try something new and tasty.

In menu only meatballs. Yes it’s only meatballs place When we got there we waited for 20min to get table. And it was fast, we were like forth in the line. And maybe 20min for order of 3. In the photo it’s “we love meatballs” 8 meatballs by chef’s choice 4 different types. I got pork, chicken, beef and deer meat. Waiter was nice talkative but not too much.

Worth a visit if you’re in Stockholm! They have different variety of meatballs to choose from but do note that some meats are extra costs for your dish! We chose reindeer and bear for our Swedish classic dish where you can choose 1 type of meatballs. We went during a weekday around 6PM without a reservation and it wasn’t that busy! I would say we got lucky because they gave us seats which were in front of the kitchen so we could see them cook which was really cool! I can imagine they get really busy during the weekends so I recommend booking a table if you go around that time.

Very nice restaurant, we had lunch there and it’s a total discovery for us. Loved the selection of the 8 meatballs by the chef. If you are two I highly recommend it ! Nice service too, very friendly. Loved the decoration 😍 Local drinks available 🤩

It was a bit chaotic when I came in and they communicated that. I had a small line but it moved quickly. The staff was nice and smiled even though it was packed and some people orders got messed up. I had the one where you can get four types of meatballs which was a good variety. My favorite was definitely the beef and I can see why it’s the most popular. The drink is a homemade berry drink that is very sweet and if you have more than one person I recommend sharing.

My partner and I visited while on holiday in Stockholm as we wanted to have some "traditional" Swedish meatballs. We're both vegetarian so we were hoping to find a place that accommodated this. Meatballs for the People definitely didn't disappoint! The vegetarian version of The Swedish Classic dish was phenomenal - excellent portion sizes, great tastes, and a nice presentation to boot. We also tried one of the various lingonberry cocktails which was also very tasty. The restaurant had a warm and cozy atmosphere and the staff were all very friendly, overall a great experience. I've included a photo of the vegetarian variation of The Swedish Classic dish.

The atmosphere here is great. Friendly people, great food and matching drinks. I had some doubts whether to give it five stars, but I thought the prices were a bit steep. The food was really good, but just enough for the both of us and that's a shame if you pay 275 SEK per person.

A funky restaurant to enjoy Swedish meatballs of different kind of meat. Great atmosphere, usually busy especially evening hours. Taste-wise it's above average for sure but not overly excited! We got the mixed plate with 4 different kind of meatballs. Very polite staff. It's worth the visit once, on the expensive side for what they offer.

Do you want to experience the authentic Swedish meatball experience. You have come to the right place! Meatballs for the People has a lovely setting. It is recommended to book a table before however we ended up spontaneously there and we managed to find a spot. Good meatball options from classic (beef/pork mix) to all the way to deer meat combined with adequate drink menu to accompany your dining. I would recommend the classic option with puree for the authentic experience. Staff are friendly and it is a place you can show up with your kid. Rest is depending on how hungry you are!

Tried the Chef’s Choice and the Swedish Classic (vegan). The Chef’s choice came with beef, pork, chicken, and reindeer. The meat-based meatballs were good but nothing exceptional, while the vegan dish was really good for being a vegan dish. There was a bit of a line but we were served pretty quickly. The ambience was nice but the seating was a bit squished (we had the seats on the stairs).

Absolutely best meatball place in Stockholm! I got the “We love meatballs” which is a chef selection and I got the pork, beef, chicken, and moose meatballs and they were all the perfect texture. The portion sizes were also perfect! My friends got the risotto, spaghetti, and normal meatball plate (with veggie balls!) and they all said they were fantastic! I highly recommend for anyone visiting Stockholm!

Absolute gem of a place. Be prepared for a long wait to be seated, around 20-30 minutes. IMPORTANT THING is to not go stand in the line immediately but make sure to get your name and number of people signed into the waiting list, without it you won't be called in. I had "We love meatballs" which is a meal with 4 types of meatballs randomly chosen, 2 meatballs of each type. So you get 8 total. I got beef, chicken, pork and deer. They were all good but if I had to rank them it would be pork in the first place, then beef and deer in the middle, and chicken in the last place. The only negative of this place is the toilet. There is just one for everyone and this causes queuing. Expect around 5-10 minute wait for the toilet. It's one level below ground, so you'll be waiting on the stairs.

We ordered the chef's choice for 5 people which allowed us to experience a wide range of the meatball types they offer. You're definitely there for the gimmick rather than taste. While some flavours came down to personal preference, some we thought were objectively below standard (such as the chicken meatball). The restaurant also seems to have difficulty hosting larger parties, as we (a party of 5) were given a 4-person table despite booking well in advance. At least the service was good.

  • 4/5 Hannah L. 3 months ago on Google New
The food was not bad, we shared a “We lave meatballs” with 2 glasses of “Red Bubble”, both were lovely. It crowded up 10 minutes after we enter the restaurant, highly recommended to book a table if you would like to visit during peak hours.

Had a great meal here. Got the classic meatballs, with mash berries, and cucumber. Tried the wisby lager. Was a great pairing. Came 9:00 pm on a Thursday and there was queue of about 10 minutes to get table. Staff was very friendly and gave recommendations of bars nearby after our meal. Was a great experience. Had some interesting “level” seating along one of their walls.

Very good service and awesome selection of meats for the meatballs. Food quality was really good for its price. As for the location, the indoor is very pretty albeit it can get a bit packed, so keep in mind that sitting outside in the tables setup on the sidewalk might be common without a reservation; dress accordingly to weather!

Lovely place to experience Swedish meatballs with different kind of meats. My favourite was reindeer meatballs. The mashed potatoes were so soft and tasty. This place suits for young people from the college, university and also for tourists to experience different of Swedish meats like: reindeer, wild boar, bear and others. One off to experience it.

It is a nice place to go to eat different animals' meat in the shape of balls. This place is very well known so be prepared to be in a queue. If you choose the Chef s surprise of 8 meatballs, be prepared for 2x3 of the cheapest animals. We had an issue with the service, our order was forgotten cause the paper became dirty, so it was thrown away and they didn't know who ordered. Of course they didn't do it on purpose and at the end they gave us a little discount. The tag is Meatballs for the People but the place is a little bit expensive for common People. Go and get a try !

Tbh, slightly underwhelming. The place was still undergoing renovation when we visited (on Jan 10, 2021) and there was some noise and some drilling. I understand those must have been last minute repairs but you pay 200 krones for an experience and I prefer that it doesn't involve drilling. The staff wasn't particularly friendly and a bit slow, and there are no high chairs provided for babies. The menu is quite limited, we got the traditional meatballs. They were OK but nothing special, I'm my opinion, and I expected a much larger position for the price you pay. They have a lunch deal for 99 krones or so and that sounds more appropriate. With a visit but I wouldn't travel too far or queue for it

I really loved the vibe of this place! It's great if you want to try a variety of meatballs with different meats. Having only ever tried the Kötbullar from Ikea prior to this, I was blown away. The portion was generous as well, slight deduction for the price, we felt that it would have been too expensive if we hadn't shared a plate.

Great spot; seems popular. I enjoyed the classic meatballs and sides. From what I saw of other dishes, presentation is great. It seemed like the same menu all day, though prices are a bit lower at lunch.

Finally meatballs. The service was quick an effecient. I got the classic on the lunch offer. The interior and the music go hand in hand

Great meatballs, various choices for meat types and great vegetarian option too. Also a few good tap beers. Nice cozy atmosphere. Long tables suitable for larger groups as well.

i LOVED it. The portion was huge and it was absolutely tasty and authentic. The drinks were great too. I would always come back here again. The berries are superb.

Visited this place a while back having had 'Ikea' Swedish meatballs. The wild boar meatballs were intense in flavour and cooked perfectly. A perfect stop for some real Swedish meatballs.

I visited the restaurant in the beginning of September with some friends that i met in Sweden, and it was perfect place who want to try meatball, and they have good variety of meat (Veal, Beef, Moose, Pork, Wildboar) and for vegetarian they were pretty clear how they cooked that. Its a nice place to enjoy your company and drink some beers, easy to find in Katarina-Sofia. I’ll recommend this place to everybody who would like to visit Stockholm and try meatball :)

Based on reviews, decided to try this place specifically for their meatballs and was not disappointed. I love how they allowed you to mix different types of meatballs. Genuinely a great experience!

These were my first meatballs in Sweden. Since then I've tried them at few other places, but Meatballs For The People are way superior to all of them. Add a great beer & friendly staff and you got an awesome experience. Oh, and prices are quite affordable too.

Super friendly staff, which gave great drink and food recommendations. The mixed meatball plate was great to try the different meats. Like this, everyone can find its favourite. The sauces were delicate as well and you could tell, that the chef knows what he does. Must do in Stockholm!

The place is really good, with good aesthetics and online reservation. The food was very tasty and at good portions. Drinks maybe a bit overpriced though. Big variety of meats, which is very good. The staff is also very polite. I would put 4.5 if I could, but not possible so I'll give 5.

Great place to try a variety of Swedish meatballs (pork, reindeer, lamb, bear, etc.)! The food was good….the cheesecake was enjoyable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKING A RESERVATION!! Worst thing about this place is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE…..we had a reservation and were seated once a table was available. Then we waited 45min+ for our one dish that we shared. We had to call the waitress to order and pay (we were never waited on)…such a madhouse with no attention payed to the customers. If you’re a meatball connoisseur then definitely give this place a try, if not, you can find something better where you won’t wait and hour then continue to be ignored.

As a Tourist I would recommend stick to the classic meatballs. I choose the deluxe plate, which was really nice, but the classic one of my partner was excellent. The staff was really kind. If your looking for fantastic meatballs go there!

(Translated by Google) Visited the restaurant with relatives from outside Sweden and we all loved the meatballs we ordered. You just have to be careful that it is a popular place so there was usually a queue. (Original) Besökte restaurangen med släktar från utanför Sverige och vi alla älskade köttbullar vi beställde. (Translated by Google) Nice place, which my Irish friends had found. The decor is completely to my taste, warm rustic feel. It was interesting to try meatballs of different meat varieties, favorites were still common options. Björn almost melted in his mouth and that was a surprise in itself. Homemade non-alcoholic drink was really good. Pie as dessert was also good. The English speaking long waiter was friendly, funny and responsive. Why 4 in rating? Because it was good but I'm not sure if I will come back as it was very specialized. Highly recommend to you who are looking for new dining experiences! Varför 4 i betyg? För att det var bra men jag är osäker om jag kommer att komma tillbaka då det var väldigt specialiserat. Rekommenderar starkt till dig som letar efter nya mattupplevelser!

We have been told to wait outside but they seated us in a breeze and said sorry for the wait. We initially ordered "I love meatballs" but didn't understand it would have been only 4 kinds of meat (our mistake, it was clearly stated in the menu). Even though it was 100% our fault, the staff agreed to change our plate to "sharing is caring" so we got to eat what we wanted, no extra charge. Amazing service, food was really good and the atmosphere was really cozy. We definitely recommend.

Disappointing service. It was pouring rain in the afternoon and they asked us to come back an half an hour later to try it again because they are gonna close down for half an hour. The menu looked nice, so too bad we had this experience.

  • 2/5 Eva D. 3 years ago on Google
The experience was quite authentic & the place is cozy. However, I thought the meatballs were so overrated... Cheesecake & carrot cake were too sweet and not very tasty. I was pretty disappointed with my experience at MFTP, considered the fact that it's supposed to be "the best meatballs" in town...

😠 Had heard good things about the place but was sadly disappointed. Waited 15 min for a menu and then 35 min for the food. I ordered the bearnaise 150g steak but as you can see that was never 150g, ridiculously small. Also the warmth was lacking. My company had the chicken burger and it was nearly col...
