I was told about a handful of restaurants to hit in Stockholm and this was right next to my hotel. Old-world charm and matching service. Excellent traditional food (loved the white asparagus with roe). If you have limited time in the city, it’s worth prioritizing.

My first meal in Stockholm and the hotel receptionist recommended authentic Sweden restaurant and made the reservation. We tried multiple dishes: scallops 6/10, minded beef 6/10, dumplings 6.5/10, cod 7/10, and cream brûlée 9.5/10. The waiter was amazing but the service was a bit slow.

Delicious meal at Prinsen! Pictured are the duck, lamb shank and classic Swedish meatballs. Very hearty and delicious start to the winter in Sweden. They served Complimentary bread and butter which the butter was deliciously salted. The service was top notch too staff were friendly and they have a coat closet at door entrance.

Though the shrimp salads were a bit underwhelming. I had the Duck breast which was excellent as was the lamb shank. A lot of people got the meatballs there which I don't understand the attraction of anywhere. But they all seemed pretty pleased. The wine was a bit pricey so we stuck with beer. The Venison Tartar was also very good. The service was very good.

It is like in the other comment that described - maybe because of change of owner or something... the meatballs were like rubber balls... The other beef patty dish was more like a fish cake...
