An underwhelming dinner at an overhyped place. This place got some glowing exposures on social media, hence our expectations when we came there. The expectation was heightened when there was a waiting list even on a regular Wednesday evening-the place was very packed. Unfortunately it was clearly under-staffed. Had to wait for half an hour to get a table, then 15 minutes until our order was taken, then another 15 til we get the food. The staffs was friendly and nice tho. The dishes were underwhelming. The spicy chicken karaage was greasy and there was no hint of heat at all. The teri chicken don’s portion was so small, one could finish it in merely around 4-5 spoons, and the taste was basic. The spicy miso also had only little topping the udon was bland, the broth/soup was lacking depth and umami, tasteless. Perhaps this place is popular for its sake selection? We didn’t try the sake, but disappointed with the taste of the food and will not come back again. Their foods are instagrammable indeed, but the taste does not worth the long waiting time.

Casual youthful dishes with inspired vegan options. Offerings focused on Japanese rice bowls and onigiris. Most of what we wanted were gone by the time we got past the queue, which I suppose is testament to its popularity with the locals. What remained was standard fare and hit the spot for Japanese fast food.

If you look for an authentic lunch place, this is a must try. We got the lunch special and were pleasantly surprised with how tasty and different the food was! Spicy chicken and Mayo tune rice bombs were our favorite! Recommend to try Japanese watermelon lemonade, it was so fun to open the bottle and the taste was so new!

Very nice place to visit if u wish to check some Japanese cuisine. Staff is very friendly and handled the situation of rush hours pretty well when we went. Food has good vegan options and taste is top notch. I recommend.

Visited on 8ths Nov 2023. The cashier at the counter was friendly and helpful. I wanted to order a ramune yuzu drink but it was not available and the cashier pointed out they have a yuzu soda and I ordered that instead and it turned out quite good. Had a dashi curry udon noodle soup and a teri chicken don. The portion for the curry udon was filling and enough but the teri chicken don was too little portion, not enough for one person in my opinion. My partner enjoyed the meal very much, as for myself it was okay but not "wow". Still we would want to revisit to try other dishes on their menu. I hope they will continue to offer okonomiyaki, because it wasn't available when we were there.

Japanese street food as good as it can get in Stockholm. Authentic place with Japanese staff. It is pity that they can’t make okonomiyaki anymore due to permitting issues but the new menu is also quite nice. I tried several onigiris, quite nice especially with the side sauce. Knowing that I was paying one fifth of the price for onigiri in Tokyo a week before hurt a bit but it is not much expensive for Stockholm prices. Also this is freshly made rather than buying form the fridge at 7-Eleven. Teri chicken done is also quite nice, not only the chicken but also the pickles and sauce gives a nice blend with rice. Ramune is a must if you opt for a soft drink, especially you can never go wrong with yuzu flavour. And of course finish up the dinner with a mochi is essential to have the full Japan experience.

Great place! You can share your table with strangers and start a conversation out of the blue 😄. Fresh food and good ingredients, had 2 different onigiri, edamame and karaage. Generous portions for Don and rice bowls (didn't try but saw them at other tables). The staff is kind and available for any question. Quality/price Top, considering you are in Stockholm and the prices are crazy. I think it is the cheapest place I found in Stockholm with great and fresh food! Walk in only but the turnover is quite fast and you can join the waiting list and they will call you back!

Amazing place for Japanese cuisine. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Many options for vegetarians as well. We easily got a table and the service was great. Would love to be back some day.

It’s really hard to find a seat in this restaurant so I was very happy to finally got a place again during lunch time. As many times before, the noodles did not disappoint me. The broth was rich, the noodle was heavenly. The chili on top of the noodle and the side dish tofu just once again amaze me. Even though the restaurant was small but it had all kind of cute decorations, such as these legos. About the service, I understand that it’s always stressful at this restaurant so they did their best. The entrance service might not satisfy everyone, including me sometimes😂. Just be ready to wait in long queue. I highly recommend their cold sake to these hot delicious noodles!!!

Such a nice place. Very popular and international. Love the food and will be back soon to try more of the dishes and the drinks! They sounded great! Not to keen on the rice ball, but it’s just a matter of taste preference, the preparation was good. Fun place with a young crowd!

The food was absolutely delicious. The mochi as dessert was the best I’ve had, definitely worth getting. Depending on the time there might be a waiting list but they try their best to make it as uncomplicated as possible.

Delicious very well-cooked food, the tofu as side dish is superb and the matcha mochi simply perfect. Just be aware that it’s often a crowded space so if you want to dine in you must be ready to squeeze. The staff is always professional and problem-solving.

Great tasting Japanese food, sad that they removed some of the items from the old menu. The food is still tasting amazing, but I'd hope they would serve a few more other things than ramen 🍜

Authentic and reasonably-priced Japanese food that, as the site says, isn't sushi. Instead they serve rice bowls, udon soup, onigiri (which are quite fancy!), and various Japanese drinks. Great veggie options. Portion sizes are just right. The restaurant is very popular, so if you're interested in specific offerings or don't want to wait in queue, I recommend getting there as soon as they open.

Great choice of ramen and other specialties including sparkling sake. I got the spicy udon with pork and yakiniku onigiri. So tasty with rich texture and beautiful to look at 🥲🤤. I am looking forward coming back, the service is great and the staff very polite and friendly. Make sure you come in time, it is so good so it is crowded all the time!

I've been to this restaurant many times and, while I like their food overall, the chicken karaage was a bit disappointing. It wasn't as juicy and crispy as expected. The texture was dry and soft, which affected the experience. It didn't meet my expectations for a flavorful and perfectly cooked chicken karaage. However, I still enjoy dining here for their other dishes.

Do you know what happened 2 weeks ago in Asia? It was Lunar New Year 🎊 & several Asian countries celebrated it. If you’re Asian or if you wanna know more about our festival traditional-like food, don’t hesitate to continue reading this review about a small authentic Japanese restaurant called Mama Wolf! The main slogan of Mama Wolf is that there is more Japanese food than 🍱! Thus, there is no 🍣 on their tiny menu, only regular food including 🍜, 🍙, japanese pancakes, & side dishes instead. Teri-Chicken Rice Bowl (125kr): it’s a normal 🍚 made from sushi rice combined with marinated grilled 🐓 & 🥬. The yuzu & teriyaki sauce on top of the bowl lightened the particular taste of teriyaki to not let it overshadow the other ingredients. This bowl looks like other common rice bowls but if you did some proper mix, it turned out to be a perfect regular japanese chicken rice dish! Pork Dash Curry Udon (130kr) & Pork Spicy Miso Udon (170kr): the reason why we ordered 2 noodles is that noodles represent longevity in Asia & chinese longevity noodles are 1 of the must-eat in New Year. But we couldn’t find the longevity noodles here, so we decided to go for udon instead to have some new year’s feelings (it’s still noodles though). Both of the Udon were so excellent from the broth, noodles to the braised pork. While the curry broth was quite authentic with mild taste, the spicy miso broth had a fattier & creamier texture with stronger & saltier taste 🤤. Despite their different tastes, it was possible to sip all of them until the last drop. Aside from the broth, the noodles & the 🐷 are the same in both dishes. The former was perfectly cooked & the latter was well-marinated as well as braised long enough to be “melted” on our tongue right away. Their menu has a variation of drinks 🍶 & mouth-watering desserts 🍡 to choose from but we didn’t try any of them since we only had time for a quick lunch! A small comment on the space, it’s quite a small restaurant with very few 🪑🪑 (especially under this pandemic situation). Thus, make sure that you come there early or avoid the peak hours ⏱, otherwise you have to either take away or wait outside! Note: You should head to Mama Wolf early to catch up their budget-friendly lunch set! P/s: Mana Wolf is vegan- & gluten-friendly! 💰Food 30-170 SEK; Drinks 15-240 SEK. 👍🏻 Location 8/10 - Space 7/10 – Food 8/10 – Price 7/10 – Service 9/10. It was the first time I tried food at Mama Wolf. I ordered Roast Beef Don, Spicy-ish karage, yakiniku beef onigiri and a cocktail "Momo Belini" . I love everything...it's authentic flavor of Japanese street food. I love karage a lot and I wanna recommend this. Staft is nice even not everyone can speak Swedish but they still can speak English. The atmosphere is cozy. Next time I wanna come back to try Miso Ramen 🥰❤️🍜

We ordered two rice bowls and the food was decent. The portioning of the rice bowls were quite small so you might need to order some small plates. What I didn’t like is that one of the staff asking us to leave immediately since there was no seat available and a lot of people were waiting in line.

Nice and tasty food with crowded place, was queuing there over 1 hour during the Friday night. Don’t recommend to visit between 18-19, either be there early or late after 20. Worth to try all side dishes.

We ordered the roast beef don and beef and tuna Onigiri. Atmosphere: casual, cosy and generally very relaxed. Service: not bad, fast and efficient. We went quite early in their evening opening when it wasn’t too busy but it did quickly become much busier after 18:30. Food: nice selection on menu, quite varied choice between Don, Udon or other small plates. Good flavours and decent portions, the beef don was really nice and not overly salted like you can get sometimes, definitely worth getting the egg with it! Lots of vegan and veggie options which was really good to see! I would have appreciated some soy sauce though on the table. However, overall good quality and very reasonably priced. Would come back but maybe for lunch or take out rather than a more sit down dinner due to the popularity and needing tables.

Strongly recommend the rice bowl. For me, I always order a rice bowl, a side dish(kakuni pork) and a drink. The taste is so good and the staff is very friendly. Definitely one of my favorite places in Stockholm

Delicious! Ordered the Teri Kara and it was well worth it. Went on a Saturday so it was busy. Had to queue for a while but managed to get a seat at the bar. Super busy, but front of house staff (sorry didn’t catch her name) deserves a shout out! Thanks for a great meal :)

Wobbly chair and tables. And prepare to stand on the queue during peak hours. But Food is worth it all. Along with some nice sake and Japanese whiskey (if you can afford it in Sweden)

  • 4/5 Johan G H. 1 year ago on Google
Before we were able to order we had to wait in a short queue which was okay. Then we came in and it was pretty much full, we had to clear a table ourselves. Then our food came which was nicely presented, sadly I did not get a picture of the onigiri which was very good. The udon noodle soup had a subtle flavouring and a spice which was subtle but built up as you ate it which I liked. The onigiri made the balance between the nori, rice and filling. Service was okay, nothing special, nothing bad though.

Awesome street food, at an extremely reasonable price! My personal favourite: the spicy karaage 😍

  • 4/5 Ahri R. 3 years ago on Google
Dishes are a bit small, so order at least one side dish with your main course if you want to be full afterwards. Also, dont order the mochi ice cream expecting all 3 flavors like i did. But other than that, presentation and flavors are excellent, and the restaurant is small but cozy. It really feels like being back home in asia again. The fried tofu udon is amazing, I tried it as a rice bowl as well but I prefer the noodles

(Translated by Google) Authentic and innovative Japanese street food with very generous prices. The food is not only good but it looks very nice. The selection on the menu with side dishes is relatively varied and on the advice of the staff I tried, for me a completely new dish, spicy Kara-age. And what can you say, so incredibly good! The Japanese staff is without exaggerating the rating absolutely fantastically nice and the flavors of the dishes are spot on! As a Japanese born and raised in Sweden, places like MamaWolf's connection to Japan and Japanese food culture become so incredibly important to me. When you step into the restaurant, it feels a bit like you are in Japan so it is so much more than just the food that makes the high rating!

(Translated by Google) Really authentic and really good. And crazy cheap if you think about what you get for quality for the money. I took udon noodles which are thick little soft noodles that were perfect. In spicy miso that has nothing to do with the miso soup on your usual dull sushi hook but is full of flavors. Welcome to Japan ❤ (Original) Riktigt autentiskt och riktigt gott.

(Translated by Google) Fun place! No taste sensation, but feels genuine. The staff is cute and the menu exciting. Will be quite expensive lunch, my male colleagues, who took bowls, were not satiated. I myself took the Japanese small dishes with two different pancakes and chicken. Did not have to order yuzuma mayonnaise, which was disappointing because it sounded like it would have suited my chicken well. The pancakes were above expectations, but nothing I plan to order again. Can definitely imagine coming back, I think I could find another combo on the menu that I like more. (Original) Kul ställe! Ingen smaksensation, men känns genuint.
