👍 Nice little spot hidden underneath old town. Its an old prison. The food is very tasty. I'm only a little dissapointed I paid too much for a coke that was almost room temperature. Please cool the drinks. The service was good and the personel were very helpfull. People often mention service, prison, staff, good, friendly, atmosphere, Swedish, nice, great, meatballs,

We went here just after the Stockholm Ghost Walk and we were surprised to see that it was still open (around 21.00). Defo a place for nightwalkers 😅 The atmosphere is cozy and something that you'll welcome after an hour walk outside while it's raining. It's like entering a tavern of olden time. The service is warm and welcoming and the waiters are accommodating. The food is okay and although I was a little bit dismayed by the size of the schnitzel that I ordered, the sauce was rich and tasty. It was perfect for the weather. I don't think it's overpriced because when you think about it, you're paying for the vibe, the place and the good service as well. We'll definitely come back and drink more of their Swedish draft (lager). By the way, THEY ACCEPT CASH during the time of writing.

Very nice cellar with history and atmosphere. Interesting menu with Swedish originals like herring or elk meat. Friendly service and very swift and attentive. Unfortunately the portions were small and with little attention to detail or presentation. Overpriced for the food served. Good tast for what we had. Food can be better presented with larger portions. Homemade food with upmarket pricing.

A great place with great atmosphere and service! Our Syrian waiter was very friendly, helpful and welcoming and made sure that we were happy. We did not order any big meals, mainly drinks and cakes, but everything was really good!

You go down to the basement, a historical place, it used to be a prison. The interior is reminiscent of the Middle Ages. It has traditional dishes: meatballs and elk meat.

Great find in the old town area of Stockholm. The staff were really attentive and even changed the music to Abba for us. The food was nice too.

Tried them for dinner. Not good food, nothing special, and small portions. The dessert was thin as the spoon :) Nice staff but won't come here again for food.

This is an awesome place. Who doesn't want to eat in an old prison/torture chamber haha. The staff was so friendly and amazing. The food is top notch! If you are visiting Stockholm, specifically old town/ gamla Stan you have to stop here.

A restaurant in the heart of the gamla stan old town in the setting of a 700 year old prison deep under the ground where once a real kingslayer spent his days in darkness and misery. I bet we had a more joyful time here than him. And better food... We had some very nice blueberry pie and two coffees. The atmosphere is very special and staff is very friendly.

We visited here on the evening of Monday 27th November. It was an interesting building, said to be an old prison, accessed via a twisting staircase. We chose goulash soup with garlic bread which was tasty. For dessert I had blueberry pie with custard and my husband had apple pie. Unfortunately the custard was luke warm. Sadly the service was very slow. From the sound of things the staff were too busy chatting to attend tables. We waited ages for a dessert menu and the glogg, which wasn't priced, turned out to be rather expensive.

Came here after reading a review that was raving about their Swedish meatballs, and it didn't disappoint. Food was delicious. Servings were generous. Staff was friendly. Overall, great experience.

Restaurant in the heart of Gamla Stan. The staff was polite and welcoming. The Elk Rydberg and Deer fillet we had were quite normal and nothing special (especially for the price), I had better meat and dishes for half the price in other restaurants in Stockholm. I would recommend it only if you like the idea of eating in what was, supposedly, an ancient prison.

This food was great! Beautiful outdoor seating and great service too! I got the fried herring with mashed potatoes and lingonberries and it was the perfect classic Swedish lunch. I really want it again.

We were looking for some place to eat dinner as it was getting late and most other restaurants were closed, we found this one and honestly had an amazing time. The food is just like homemade food for the soul! Don't hesitate at all, meatballs were brilliant and the staff are incredibly kind.

We stumbled into this place by accident - and got luckily surprised. Very good beer, and excellent food and dessert. We will come back!

Everything was amazing from start to finish and both waitresses were friendly and attentive. We both had meatballs, I changed my mesh for potato wedges and it was no problem. I asked them if they could surprise my husband with cake for his birthday and they done it with joy and even played a happy birthday song. Highly recommend it and thanks to the girls and the chefs.

Super cool restaurant with a very cozy vibe. The waiters are very nice, and the food is delicious. Got the elk/moose patty with potatoes and lingonberry sauce which was great. Also got the blueberry pie for dessert. It was not too sweet and very pleasant.

Good food, plus pleasant service. Great atmosphere in an old prison. Food is a little expensive but you are paying for the location. I would use again

Wow, I am so glad my girlfriend and I stumbled upon this place. We were in search of some fresh homemade Swedish meatballs and we could not have been more impressed 🧆. Not only was the food fantastic (shrimp pasta was great too), but the atmosphere and service was top-notch (special shout-out to our waiter from Syria who was incredibly kind and funny- wish we got his name!) Where else can you sip on wine and enjoy tasty Swedish cuisine in a historic dungeon on a Monday night? 🍷Highly recommend checking this place out!!

Hidden gem of a restaurant/bar/cafe with gluten-free (and wheat-free) desserts in downtown Stockholm. 5 stars for sure. The chocolate almond cake and chocolate coconut dessert were perfect paired with mulled wine in a old converted prison underground. A+++

The restaurant interior very interesting and special. I ordered moose (elk) dish, but it was nothing special. (When I eat moose it was characteristic taste but now nothing). The the staff was friendly.

Absolutely overpriced. Not sure about dinner but this is NOT the place you have fika or light drinking. I ordered Irish coffee and Selma and it cost 225 kr. And the semla tasted horrible (the whipped cream was watery and the bun tasted so cheap) prolly 7-eleven semla is better. The staff were friendly but not professional at all, they were playing with phone at empty seats. Google says it closes at 11:30 but only during summer time. It closes at 10 during winter time. Irish coffee was okay.

Came to Sweden wanting to try local cuisine like meatballs and I’m glad I ate it here. Added bonus - they accept cash which is a rarity in Stockholm. Loved the atmosphere and the fact it was a 700 year old prison, very unique
