This is less of a church and more of a royal burial place, I really enjoyed it, was here for about 30mins. You can get a combined ticket with the royal palace.

Few of the crowds in the Royal Palace seemed to bother with the short walk to this church, which made it a quiet and peaceful place to visit even on a Friday afternoon. It is an eclectic mix of styles, having been added to repeatedly over the years, and is pretty much stuffed full with royal tombs and sarcophagi, the walls covered in the royal plaques from the Order of the Seraphim. As the burial church of many of the Swedish kings and royals up to 1950, it is an interesting place, and you can spend a surprisingly long time exploring and learning about the history. A visit to the church definitely completes a trip to the palace and learning about the Swedish royal family.

The church is actually the burial chapel with most of the royal family personal graves. Some are buried in the main chapel floor and being very old most of the inscriptions are not readable. There are many side chapels where family wise casket, most metallic and with gold and silver embossing are placed. Although some are cast in stones too. A place of historical importance and must visit place for tourists interested in the royal hierarchy of Sweden.

Though I missed the chance to step inside Riddarholmen Church, its exterior beauty left an indelible impression. The historic allure of this architectural gem is simply captivating. The building's silhouette against the Stockholm skyline is a visual treat, offering a glimpse into Sweden's rich history and cultural heritage. Even from the outside, the church's medieval charm and distinctive spires make it a must-see landmark. If circumstances permit, I would undoubtedly prioritize a visit in the future. For now, the lasting memory of its exterior elegance has only intensified my desire to explore the hidden treasures within. A regretful miss, but the allure remains!

Church very similar to other churches in Europe. In my opinion it was nothing special. It is a short walk away from gamla Stan and student tickets are cheaper and it was nice that they did not look for student id. Apparently the reciept of the ticket here gets you a discount at the other museum at the royal palace.

A very beautiful impressive old church dating back to the 18th century. It is now used for burials and commemorative occasions. Some sections date back to the 14th century.

One of the oldest buildings in Stockholm/Old Town. Previously a convent turned church and now it is the final resting place of generations of Royals. Interesting to visit. Scarce opening-hours so check in advance if it is open for visitors. Not free of admissions but worth the price (60 kr/adult and 30kr/child).

Only say this medieval church from outside, but it is impressive mix of gothic style with baroque chapels. Pay attention to the spire it is not very typical.

One of our most memorable Gamla Stan stops, this church is unlike other European churches we visited, as it houses the remains of the Swedish royal family and aristocrats. It is also no longer used for service but more for memorial, which gives it a very different vibe from the cathedrals and churches still in use. What we found super interesting of this place is that you get to see actual coffins and remains of the royals housed here, along with their story. The church is also very historical, being one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm dating all the way back to the medieval period. It was a very surreal experience to look at the vaults and coffins holding the bodies, along their explanation. You can buy combination tickets with the Royal Palace and we highly recommend this place.

One of the oldest buildings in the area, it served as the burial place for Swedish Monarchs and known for its cast-iron spire. Besides the tombs, one will see coats of arms of the Knights of Seraphim Order along the Eastern wall

We didn't hit the right time to visit the inside, but the architectural details on the outside alone were worth stopping by. There are historical models outside to help explain the history, which we liked a lot. It was chilly out the day we went and the were doing some construction (looked like public works stuff) right by the one end of the church, so we didn't spend as much time in the area of the church as we might have, but it was definitely worth the walk over there.

Our walking tour guide brought us here. The interior was very ordinary unlike other churches, though the exterior was very impressive. It had historical significance because it was burial place for royal families and nobles. Due to their entry fees policy, it looked like a museum rather than a church.

Amazing old church where all the old kings are buried. Next to the river and easy to get to other attractions. The staff here were very helpful in answering questions, and there are also multi-lingual information sheets there.

Must see place if you ever visit stockholm. Entrance fee pp is 100 sek. Inside you will find the burials sarcophagus of dozens of former swedish royals including magnas ladalaus from the 13th century. The whole floor is made of a patchwork of the top of the stone tombs of various noblility over the past 500 years. The artwork and ceiling is painted in this beautiful swedish flower motif. Dont forget to also check out the little side rooms. Definitely can recommend!

Small church. There is “Desideria”’s grave here. Discounted rate for students. Outside looks better than the inside. Lovely staff!

Cool enough church but not necessarily one I’d plan to revisit on another trip. Really kind of just another church to me. If you appreciate churches and can see what makes them unique you’d love it more than me. It was just included in our tickets to the palace so we decided to go. If you can’t get there, I wouldn’t fret on missing the inside. Just go take a look from the outside and enjoy a quick look.

The archtecture is nice but not stunning. The church is old, but has been reworked repeatedly, so the architectural effect is mixed. The primary interest is that it's the resting place of Swedish monarchs. It prompted me to learn some more about Swedish history.

I actually took a wrong turn on Rick Steves "Gamla Stan (Old Town) Walking tour" in August 2019 (in his invaluable guidebook, "Scandinavian & Northern European Cruise Ports Guidebook" - highly recommended) and ended up at this church instead. It is extraordinarily beautiful outside, though simple inside (free entry), and highly meaningful because it is the final resting place of most of Sweden's rulers for the last few hundred years. I would definitely recommend stepping in for a few minutes if you are nearby. The area is also picturesque with the Stenbock Palace (now Court of Appeal) and other old buildings, plus a pier nearby.

Breathtaking church! The pictures do not do it justice but this church is MASSIVE! Very beautiful cobblestone all around it with a beautiful plaza around. It was closed at the time I arrived but the pipe organ is a must see if you are able to come here! Also this church is old, dating back to the 13th century!

A very beautiful church with many helpful explanations. Also available are texts in various different languages explaining the church. All the coats of arms are displayed very beautifully. You can really feel the historic vibes around here.

👍 As usual in Sweden. The time schedule for my route was really nice, every 3-4 min, unlike where I live, every 20 min!
