If given the choice, I wouldn’t stay here again. My biggest complaint is the bathroom situation. I was in a room with 5 other girls and had an en-suite bathroom. It was tiny. However, my issue wasn’t the size but the fact that shower water went absolutely everywhere once you turned the faucet on. The toilet, sink, floor, even the walls outside the shower area were drenched. The beds were less than okay. I felt like I was packed in like a sardine as I couldn’t sit up in my bed without my head touching the bed above me. The room was spacious but for some reason they have decided to place three beds on top of each other. Just like the bathroom, the bed situation is not ideal. The staff were not that friendly unfortunately. When I first walked up to check in, the guy behind the counter had a bit of an attitude with me. A girl in my room later asked me if I also dealt with rude staff so it seems like this is a regular occurrence. I will say that the hostel is located in a great location. It’s close to the central station and close to transit. I would encourage you to look into other options before booking here.

A great hostel! The staff is extremely nice. In the mornings you can grab a cup of free coffee or tea after 11am. They also have free sauna, which is really nicely equipt. The rooms are clean as well as all of the common areas, that really give off the vibe of being cleaned regularly. You can also find great tips about different things to do around the city, as well as options for “broke people” 🤣. Would definitely recommend this hostel if visiting Stockholm!

Wonderful hostel! Really tidy as they have a rule to leave your shoes at the entrance. People here are friendly and it's a lively place with lots of young people. The location is really good and the rooms were spacious and tidy. We really liked it here!

I don't understand why is so well evaluated. At least my experience was not so so, the bed makes a lot of noisy, any simple movement is enough. One of the WC, close to my room, is smaller than a plane WC. The reception don't work late, rooms without window in a kind of basement, a lot of codes to access the building, the rooms and etc, some change everyday, so do you need to memorise or verify every time the photo or paper that they give with the codes. Besides that, is clean and well located, close to the central bus station and surrounded by good restaurants

Absolutely loved my stay here while visiting Stockholm. First, the location. It's very central; about 10 minute walk from the train station (and a metro station) and I could easily walk to most of the popular areas/attractions from the hostel. Second, the atmosphere. It's very lively. Every evening the multiple common areas are filled with young travellers chatting and making plans together. It was everything you'd hope a hostel would be. Quiet hours were also mostly respected. Third, security. There are separate codes to get into the night entrance, common area, and finally your individual room, with the common area code rotating every day. I had 0 worries that my stuff would be messed with. Other stuff: one of the showers and sinks that I used during my stay started draining very slowly. I informed the front desk and the next day, the shower was draining normally but the sink stayed the same. WiFi: this was my one big complaint. I was in the back of a far back room, and so the wifi reception was all but nonexistent. This meant I had to connect to a nearby hotel's free wifi. It seemed fine in the common areas. Overall, I'd highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a hostel in Stockholm!

This is an excellent hostel, super central to the main train station and bus terminal, as well as being a short walk to the old town. Really great staff who are knowledgeable, rooms are clean, beds are comfy, communal spaces are fantastic. They have a storage room for luggage if you are looking to leave your bags to go exploring and you've checked out. Storage lockers are available but you need a big padlock, just a heads up. Highly recommend this hostel!

Stayed at 2 different Hostels here in Stockholm and this was my favorite one. The people here are way friendly and they have posters all over the hostel giving you tips on where to go and things to do. Met some really cool people and played cards til 3 AM. Would recommend this hostel to anyone. Oh yeah, big thumbs up for the sauna, laundry machines, free pasta and coffee!

I booked this hostel for my 18 year old son and he stayed there for a week and liked it so much that he stayed there for one more week while he was in Stockholm. He said it was fun, he met nice people and the staff was friendly.

It's one of the better hostels for sure. Stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed it very much. There's a bar next door which is also run by the hostel. Live music and good drinks. The only negative was the Sunday receptionist guy was rather grumpy after I needed a new key code card printed out, but we can't all be happy all the time.

Great location. Hostel was a maze but made sense once you understood it. The beds were not numbered which led to a lot of confusion and people taking each others beds. Every other hostel I've stayed in has numbered beds, surely this would be easier? Also, there are many door codes to remember. The main door code changes at 12pm everyday, which is good for safety but means you always need to know the new code. What is wrong with key cards instead?? The hostel is also very inaccessible if you have any mobility issues. Also, the reception is open strange hours, meaning people arriving after reception is closed need to figure out the maze of a hostel by themselves or get help from other hostel guests. It was nice and clean but just many strange practices.

Great hostel in the city. Quite easy access to the metro and nearby attractions/ restaurants. The front desk opening hours threw me a bit, they are not open 24/7 like some hostels so if you are arriving early or late get in touch. Comfy beds and rooms with plenty of space. Also great living areas. Not a party hostel but plenty of people around to meet.

It’s a shame I have to leave a bad review because I was really looking forward to staying here on my trip. I reached pretty late at night after a long flight, so I was exhausted and ready to sleep in the room that I paid (quite a lot) for. However, when I reached my room, all the beds were occupied. I was confused because I had my booking confirmation, everything but for some reason there was no bed for me? Thankfully the staff was responsive enough to reply to my text message at night, but it just became a big hassle that I didn’t have the energy to deal with so late. They ended up searching for an empty bed and moving me to a 12-person room (that I was not too comfortable sleeping in). If I wanted the 12-person room, I could’ve gotten it for much cheaper though another company. The reason I booked here in the first place is because I wanted a smaller room. It’s a shame that I couldn’t even sleep in the bed that I reserved :/ maybe assigning beds to people would help with this! I don’t want others to have to go through the same hassle :(

I visited in March. The room was ok but not well heat insulated. There was a draft of cold air through the window and already mold forming at the top edge. There's also some mold in some of the showers. I guess you can expect that from an old building. The staff, general amenities and the location were great though

My favorite hostel so far! It is my second stay here, but definitely not the last. I love the vibe of the place and people here are always so kind and open minded. Meeting different people from all around the world with the same mindset is just so beautiful.

Great location close to the city center and the central bus/ train station. Arrived late at night and was provided an arrival letter with everything I needed to know in order to unlock the doors and find the room. Very clean also, and great kitchen/ lounge areas where you can socialize with other people.

Really nice hostel. Good beds with a locker for each person in the room (bring your own lock though). A well equipped kitchen and spacious common rooms. Only 15 minutes walking from the central station. A good location to start exploring the city. Felt like a great place for solo travelling too!

The best hostel I've ever stayed in. Great atmosphere and decor. From the moment we enter, we're greeted by great music. The rooms are clean and there's everything you need in the kitchen (free pasta available). Best of all: on-site sauna. I highly recommend this hostel near Gamla Stan.

Pretty damn amazing hostel. It’s very clean, staff are very friendly and it’s super close to the central station. I stayed for one night in the 7-bed mixed room, and everything went great. I had very close access to three bathrooms that were well-kept and had soap and TPs. Granted, I never took a shower, but a “room-mate” went to the sauna (yes, they have saunas, and they provide towels for very little money) and was very satisfied. Otherwise, everything is great and would definitely come back. Before booking, just know that you are coming to a hostel, not a hotel, so don’t have weird expectations! Plenty of lockers around, but you need a padlock of yourself (you can get it here for around 5 euros).

I stayed at City Backpackers Hostel with my friend for New Year's Eve and we had a great experience. The location of the hostel is very convenient, as it is close to everything. The hostel itself has a cozy and homey atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I want to give a special mention to Rocy at the front desk, who went above and beyond to help us with a double booking issue. He took the time to explain the situation and made sure we were taken care of, which we really appreciated. The kitchen at the hostel is really spacious and guests have the freedom to use it. However, there were some guests who didn't contribute to keeping it clean and neat, especially when it came to sorting the trash properly. The bathrooms at the hostel were clean and well-maintained, which was a plus. Additionally, my bedsheets were clean, new, and white, providing a comfortable sleeping experience. Overall, I had a positive experience during my stay at City Backpackers Hostel.

Normally I would give 5 stars because it is pretty nice hostel, super clean but they charge you for bed linen mandatory( have been over 30 countries maybe stayed over 50 hostels all around the world but for the first time I see that they charge you extra for even the most basic thing bed linen). The kitchen is quite good, they even have free pasta, lots of board game to play and socialize in the common room. Almost everyone around 20-30 so it is a really nice young hostel. Definetely recommend for your visit in Stockholm

I recently had the pleasure of staying at City Backpackers Hostel, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. Their friendly and accommodating nature stood out, making the check-in process seamless and stress-free. They were always ready to assist with any queries and provided valuable insights about the local area. The hostel's location couldn't have been more convenient. Situated in the heart of the city, it allowed for easy access to key attractions and public transportation, making my exploration of the city hassle-free. Whether it was strolling through vibrant neighborhoods or hopping on a bus to a nearby landmark, the central location proved to be a major highlight of my stay. What truly made my experience memorable, however, was the amazing people I had the chance to meet during my time at the hostel. The communal spaces fostered a sense of community, and I found myself engaging in fascinating conversations with fellow travelers from around the world. The diverse and friendly atmosphere created a unique social dynamic that enhanced my overall enjoyment of the trip. While the hostel provided a fantastic base for exploration and socializing, I couldn't help but think it could offer even more activities, both inside and outside the premises. Perhaps organizing group outings or themed events within the hostel would further enrich the experience for guests looking to connect and make lasting memories. In conclusion, City Backpackers Hostel is a top-notch accommodation option that ticks many boxes for a satisfying stay. The excellent staff, convenient location, and the opportunity to meet amazing people all contribute to its charm. With a bit more focus on organized activities, this hostel has the potential to become an absolute standout in the realm of budget-friendly accommodations. I look forward to returning and experiencing even more of what this fantastic hostel has to offer.

I will count some advantages and disadvantages of this hostel. Advantages: 1) During the day you have to enter two different passcodes to reach your room, and during the night you have to enter three passcodes so this hostel is compeletly safe. 2) There is free pasta at the hostel but stoves are not sufficient for everyone. 3) Beds are really comfy and clean. 4) There is free coffee and tea during the day. Disadvantages: 1) Even though there are many people at the hostel, there is not any kind of social event. They just leave you by yourself. It is not very solo-travel friendly. 2) The reception is only open from 9am-8pm. So when I arrived after 8pm, there was nobody to help me to enter. Hopefully they sent an e-mail what to do but I think they close the reception too early. 3)I had to walk 15 minutes to city center so hopefully it was sunny when I was there but when it is so cold, I wouldn’t want to walk 15mins. 4) Rooms are located in the basement so it is always dark inside. 5)They charge you for bed linens and it is compulsory which I think they must be free.

See you soon!

I can't really find the right words at the moment. I have been travelling and staying in hostels around the world for over 15 years. I have never experienced negative and sarcasm from any hostel front of house reception staff before. I don't fully understand why this hostel gets such good ratings and reviews. There are only a couple of good things that I can say. Its walking distance from the train station and old town and the cleaning staff are friendly and are trying there best to keep an old run down building clean. The hostel is a maze of corridors and levels. The hostel gives you a map of the hostel which is useless. Its the hardest place to navigate through. You have to feel sorry for the guests who are stuck in the rooms located in the basement. There is no natural light or fresh air. The hostel has so many heavy doors which requires you to enter a different access code for most of them. It seems to be a complete waste of time. I don't understand the heavy security. The bathrooms and toilets could do with an upgrade. Overall its a disappointing place of accommodation to stay when visiting Sweden. I did meet some very friendly and switched on travelers staying there which made me feel like staying for the 2 nights that I'd paid for. Otherwise I probably would have left the hostel early. The hostel definitely needs a heavier local Swedish staff presence. Stay around the corner at the Generator hostel.

I only spent one night here. I ordered and paid for towels which were not left in my room. I received a refund before I left. The top level of bunk beds is extremely high and honestly a bit dangerous in my opinion. This hostel is definitely not for mature travelers or people with high expectations. The location is very good, which was the only positive for me.

Really nice hostel, great location, incredible decoration. Free sauna and pasta for you to cook. Security in every room and staff is super friendly. The only complain I have is that they charge for the bed linen and it is compulsory to rent it, so I don't get why not including it in the initial fee anyway. Appart from that, I recommend this place for having a nice experience.

I recently stayed at an amazing hostel that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay while traveling. The people at this hostel were friendly and welcoming, and the staff went out of their way to make sure that my stay was enjoyable. The location was also great, with easy access to all the attractions and amenities that I needed. One of the things that I really loved about this hostel was how easy it was to meet other people. As a solo traveller, I found it to be the perfect place to make new friends and connect with other travellers from all over the world. Overall, I had a fantastic time staying at this hostel and would definitely recommend it to others.

This place was great. The staff were very kind and there was lots of extra amenities that you just don't find at many hostels. There was free coffee and water at the entrance and overall I had a very positive stay. The only thing was that the front desk closed quite early which was a bit disappointing, but aside from that it is one of the better hostels I've stayed at.

It truly was one of the best hostels I stayed at on my Eurotrip. I met amazing people in my room and in the common room, so many nice places to hang out in, a free sauna and a sort of cold plunge like shower, amazing snack food sold at the register and the list goes on and on. Only complaint was one guy with a bucket hat that worked the front was very rude to me and a couple other guests staying at the hostel. For example, he would ignore people or tell people to wait while he hit on female staff.... But other than that, overall highly recommend this place!

IDK if I've outgrown hostels or my rating is skewed. The location was about 10 minutes from the station. There is a no shoe policy so the whole place smelled like feet. Even at the bar there was a stench... I personally am quite sensitive to smells so I couldn't stay there for longer than a night. If you're on a budget, this is a decent place to stay I guess.

I worked in the same block for a year, but never come in to this place. I went to an open mic event last night, finally, after passing by this place for almost everyday. They put some interesting things in the common room. Like, that fridge in front of the cashier, stacks of suitcases, and some pictures. Toilets are clean. Didn’t go to the bar though. Good vibes.

One of the comfiest hostels I have ever stayed. Altough couple of rooms are connected through arches which can be hard especially if you’re trying to sleep at earlier hours but I was able to sleep just fine. Beds make a lot of noise but other than that amazing. I don't care at all about the free pasta or great atmosphere, what make me come back is the absolute amazing decor. The TV playing old cartoons, the drawings for the building and the top notch old maps scattered around the hostel. 10/10.

After staying at many hostels, I can tell this one is one my favorite in Europe. The hostel has its own charm, the sauna is definitely needed when Stockholm is rainy, windy and cold.. but it’s not the best part, the staff is incredible, specially Isolde and Emelie the nicest persons I met during my trip ! Thanks for everything! Charles

What a great set up in a decent location. So much to love about this hostel, the restaurant next door with discounts. The kitchen was a good set up. They have a sauna, need I say more. The showers and facilities were always clean and tidy over my 2 nights there. There were multiple areas to chill. I absolutely loved this place and the staff were super helpful and friendly. This is the only place to stay in Stockholm as far as I'm concerned.

I got the 4 beds female room. The room was next to the courtyard and in the evening there were little concerts. It was very loud to the point you almost could not understand eachother in the room, but on the brightside, it went silent at 11pm. The room was basic and had some lockers. The bunkbeds were quite wiggely, so not optimal for the best night rest. Overall it was quite cosy and there were enough showers and toilets outside of the room available (+ sauna, cold water bucket) and some common rooms. All the doors open with different codes so be sure to take a picture of them in case you lose the paper. The location is perfect with a close distance to the shoppingstreets and trainstation. The staff were helpfull and gave information right away. The online prior check-in is defnitely nice.

(Translated by Google) Very very nice place with large beds, a huge kitchen where you can cook. Their own cafe is also very beautiful, live music is made. The location was also excellent, very close to the airport train and very close to the conference room. It was the most comfortable holiday in my life.

This is a very clean hostel. During our stay, we got free dinner (Monday), free coffee and tea after 11am and free luggage storage. We keep our luggages in the hostel after check out as our flight is at 8am.

Most amazing hostel, by far the best I’ve stayed at. Incredible staff, free pasta was great and met some amazing people. Would highly recommend the sauna tour and the pub crawl, I just didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back!

Definately it's worth of staying. I just could imagine how is it in summer with its inner outdoor yard. The staff is making perfect atmophere, uniting guests wwith different activities. It's perfect for lonely travellers as well as for couples and friends. I have questions for some guests who can't use kitchen equipment properly (maybe, they need a person who control processes in kitchen only, not letting those who can't do it in a right way) And AC was little bit cold I will come back for sure

I get why it's recommended. It was a wonderful experience. The stairs to the baggage locker room was a little tricky. But amazing service, vibes and facilities. 10/10.

I loved the stylish, hip atmosphere and the location of the hostel is perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and i was more than satisfied with the online communication of the hostel too, because i received very detailed information of how to get there and what to do prior arrival, and in case of late check-in. I was extremely satisfied by the smooth processes and safety because of the codes provided for all the doors. The facility was clean and well equipped. - @galgreti

I swear it’s the best hostel in Stockholm. The friendliest stuff, welcoming travelers and clean areas. Great value for money, definitely must-see in the city. Coming back!

Amazing hostel. Great location. Very kind staff. The bedding was clean and smelled great, you can rent towels as well with them for cheap, the whole hostel looks clean and fresh.

Extremely pleasant experience here. For context, I stayed for 3 nights in the Durgarden area with my partner, it is a 4 bedroom room. Normal I always have 1 or 2 (sometimes lots) of things that could be improved on but this Hostel nailed everything for me, there was not a single thing that I think they could do better. The cost is well-worth it, the staff are friendly, the rooms are tidy and they give you clean, fresh bed sheets. There is a lot to do here if your going to be staying for a while. Overall, highly worth it, the best hostel I have been to so far.

Best Atmosphere of any hostel ive stayed at in Europe. Forces you to go through common areas constantly and the free pasta and expensive alcohol prices in bars leads to the common areas being fantastic. Comfortable beds and great building. My favorite hostel

Very very nice place, the interiors are beautiful and you feel at home. The free pasta thing creates a very interesting situation at dinner when everyone is preparing a different type of pasta. Great environment, generally people are calm, quite and make conversation. Just perfect if you are young and traveling on a budget. The dorms have all the problems that every other hotel's shared dorms have so no point in complaining about them, and I have to say that the privacy is better than some other places I've visited. I don't know if anyone speaks Asian languages, in that case ask them. Free sauna, free pasta, great affordable prices. What do you want more? 10/10 recommended, would be there again if I'm in stockholm.

We were very happy with this hostel and had a nice experience from there. At most we appreciate the atmosphere in the kitchen, free leftover food suitable to do an easy meal and friendly stuff. The only problem was a code for luggage room which we didn't get although we spoke with the girl at the reception about it. We needed to use it in the morning, but the reception was empty. In case you can't catch the hours when the office/café is opened, it might be difficult to deal with any unforseen situation like this, unless other guest helps you (which is not allowed). I would propose having somebody on the phone or chat at least in the morning. Everything was clean. At the toilette, there were no soap or desinfaction and I missed a good dry place for my clothes in the shower cabin.

Best hostel experience in Stockholm for the price. I always check rooms here first while travelling. Staff is friendly, price is affordable, breakfast is decent and check outs are instantaneous! Also very close to central station!

I have stayed in my share of hostels across Europe, but this easily tops the list. Starting from the friendly staff to the overall hygiene, CBH excelled in all. One thing that stuck out is their pre-checkin luggage storage. Usually hostels don’t allow it as things might be misplaced or they just charge you and keep the luggage under the reception. CBH had a dedicated room with number lock exclusively for luggage storage and this was free of cost !!

There are four reasons to avoid this hostel: hygiene, facilities, noise, and the infamous linens scam. You would think that after the pandemic, a hostel would have handsoap in the restrooms, but here there is none. There is also no sink to wash hands in after removing one's shoes at the entrance, which is required. The lockers are busted and don't lock, even when trying multiple varieties of locks. The door to our room was creaky to the point where we were constantly being woken up throughout the night every time a guest left or entered the room. Hostels know that backpackers don't travel with linens on them, hence they don't charge guests for them, but here there is a small print clause requiring guests to pay an additional fee for linens -- in other words, it's a scam.

The location was quite good and it clearly had a lot of people that were friendly and happy to socialize. However we stayed in a private room, and there was no cleaning liquid available (even to purchase), the room was in the basement so pretty much no light except from narrow glass windows. We tried speaking to someone at reception to get advice and he unfortunately was not very friendly. Other people at reception were quite nice though. Overall decent hostel in a good location, would recommend if staying in the dorm rooms and looking to meet other travelers. If just looking for a place to stay in a more comfortable accommodation, maybe look elsewhere. Oh, you’re also required to take your shoes off at the hostel entrance which can be a bit of an inconvenience, and there are so many changing lock codes everywhere that it was a bit hard to keep track of them.

(Translated by Google) Fantastic youth hostel, super well placed in town, on two levels and comfortable. It has all the facilities one could hope to find there and even extras: sauna, washing machine, communal kitchen with free pasta in the evening, buffet breakfast in the morning at 75SEK (really cheap considering the quantity and Swedish prices in general). Really, go for it! The price / quality ratio is top, you will not regret it. Thank you to the staff too, smiling and welcoming.
