My
husband
and
l
met
in
Los
Angeles
in
April
1969.
In
June
1971,
we
flew
to
Frankfurt,
toured
Germany,
then
took
a
ferry
to
Dover
to
pick
up
a
Triump
Bonneville
touring
motorcycle
from
a
factory
in
Birmingham
to
get
around
Europe.
We
got
to
Stockholm
and
stayed
at
his
mother's
apartment.
A
few
days
later,
we
went
to
Allhelgonakyrkan
to
get
permission
to
get
married.
This
is
the
church
my
husband
was
confirmed
in
Lutheran
religion
as
a
boy.
But,
the
church
turned
our
request
down.
It
was
a
bit
complicated
because
l
was
a
foreigner,
a
Filipino
woman,
living
in
USA
and
of
a
different
religion
than
my
Swedish
boyfriend
at
that
time.
We
were
of
course
disappointed
but
two
weeks
later,
a
call
came
from
the
church
and
told
us
that
we
could
get
married
in
the
church
after
all.
My
husband
and
l
got
married
on
3
July
1971
and
will
celebrate
our
golden
anniversary
on
3
July
2021.
I
wore
a
beautiful
long
white
wedding
dress
we
took
with
us
from
Los
Angeles.
It
was
custom
made
for
me
by
my
late
mother
and
air
shipped
from
the
Philippines
to
Los
Angeles.
My
boyfriend
rented
a
formal
black
tuxedo.
The
two
of
us
rode
to
church
on
our
Triump
motorcycle.
A
few
people
saw
us
in
our
motorcycle
in
formal
wedding
attires
and
waved
at
us.
The
pastor
married
us
in
a
10
minute
wedding
ceremony
in
both
English
and
Swedish.
There
were
just
the
two
of
us,
the
pastor
and
his
assistant.
After
the
wedding,
we
drove
back
to
his
mother's
apartment,
where
we
had
dinner
for
the
first
time
as
a
married
couple.
About
a
week
later,
we
said
goodbye
to
his
mother
to
start
touring
Europe
for
our
honeymoon.
We
flew
back
to
Los
Angeles
in
October
after
spending
4
months
in
Europe.
We
managed
to
travel
over
the
years
since
then,
here
and
there
all
over
the
world.
We
also
bought
a
summerhouse
in
Mariannelund
in
1987.
Our
daughter
spent
summer
months
in
Marieannelund
every
year
while
growing
up.
Her
last
trip
to
Sweden
was
with
her
boyfriend,
now
husband,
after
both
graduated
college
in
2008.
I
am
now
73
and
my
husband
85,
living
in
our
house
in
Hollywood,
California
since
1984.
My
husband
has
not
traveled
since
the
house
in
Marieannelund
was
sold
in
2017.
He
calls
his
sister
in
Sweden
every
morning.
God
has
been
good
and
we
are
grateful
to
Him
for
everything.
We
hope
the
whole
world
will
recover
once
this
pandemic
is
beyond
us.
After
almost
50
years
later,
this
is
the
first
time
l
have
seen
photos
of
Allhelgonakyrkan
online.
They
bring
back
happy
memories
of
our
travels
to
Europe.
Greetings
from
